If you're looking to have Italian while at kalamazoo then come over to this place. Nice relaxing atmosphere, food is very nice too and servers are good. Appetizers were so good that we have to bag our entres but we are sure to finish them at home

Took my wife here for our first time on date night Friday and what a gem!!!! Everything about this place is exquisite. The food is the best Italian in Kalamazoo and the drinks are top notch as well! Our waitress Alexandra K was super friendly and she recommended the pineapple upside down cake martini which was amazing! I had the special, blackened shrimp risotto and it was the best tasting risotto around and the dish was perfectly spiced! We tried the Brussels sprouts as well and they tasted just as good as they looked! The bruschetta was the best around also. Everything we had was well priced and worth every penny spent! We’ll definitely be back for another date night!

It was absolutely delicious, good atmosphere. I enjoyed the "fireplace," maybe for the "effect" add a space heater lol. Either way our server was awesome and the service was great. I truly believe this is the best food in Kalamazoo for the best price.

Had seafood pasta and veg pizza with a glass of wine and a Peroni. Food was delish and our waitress was on the ball.

Very charming, cozy restaurant. The atmosphere is great—it feels like a little restaurant in Italy. Food was also great, and the service was top-notch.

The food was so delicious. I had the Feta Bruschetta and Cream Chicken & Polenta. So much flavor in both dishes. The Hummingbird drink was amazing as well.

Amazing Chicken Piccata! Shelby provided exceptional service and found us drinks we liked and provided great menu recommendations. Highly recommend this intimate Italian restaurant!

We make the trip once a year or so for a delightful evening. The food is wonderful, as is the staff. Also enjoy the outdoor seating during summer months.

From start to finish a meal at Comensoli’s rivals anything we have had on the Hill in St. Louis. An extensive wine and cocktail menu which includes some excellent Italian wines. We had the Burrata and Tomato starter. This eatery makes their own sausage and sauces so we made sure to try their signature pasta that includes them. Also had the Chicken Piccata and it was done to perfection with sides of tender rosemary roasted potatoes and balsamic glazed carrots. Had to try the the dessert so I took home a slice of the limoncello cream cake. At last we have found what will be our go-to Italian eatery in Kalamazoo! Will definitely be returning again soon!

Love this place! The parking is behind the building. I am dairy free and I ordered the spaghetti without Parmesan cheese. The menu has many noodles that are gluten free. Great place to dine and delicious food!

We were in the mood for traditional Italian, so we gave Comensoli's a try. It was definitely worth a try we enjoyed all the entrees we tried including the mussels appetizer.

My wife and I are absolutely in love with this place. The food is beyond excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful. I'm reluctant to post this out of selfishness.

I finally decided to try this place tonight and I liked it. The inside wood fixtures and paintings create a cozy atmosphere which improves the dinning experience. The service was pretty good and for dinner I ordered the meat lasagna which was really good. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to eat in kalamazoo

There were enough waitresses and attentive. The food is good. I was able to have gluten free options, which is a relief. We sat outside for a rainstorm. Way better than I expected

While the location might be a bit difficult to get to with all the one way streets, it is definitely worth the trouble! The food here is always great with perfectly cooked pasta, a great ratio of sauce to noodles and wonderful service. The full bar also allows for cocktails and the wine list has tons of options for whatever your mood might desire.

I could honestly rave on and on about this place, of the countless times I’ve been here I have not been disappointed once! Love the food, service, and aesthetic! My favorite place to eat in Kalamazoo! I love ordering the Alfredo; made fresh everyday and the most tender chicken every time. Truly a perfect place for a date night or special occasion, I will recommend to everyone!

My place to go on my birthday. Pasta and pizza selections for vegetarian options are plenty. Service is always great.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Comensoli’s, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with charming decor and soft lighting that made for a relaxed and cozy dining experience. The service at Comensoli’s was top-notch. Our server, was not only friendly but also very knowledgeable about the menu. She took the time to recommend some of the restaurant's signature dishes and made sure that we had everything we needed throughout the meal, all with a genuine and welcoming smile. The food was absolutely delightful. We started with a the chicken parm, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The pasta was perfectly cooked, with a beautiful texture that could only come from being made fresh. The sauce—rich and creamy, with just the right amount of seasoning—complimented the pasta beautifully. Every bite was like a warm hug on a plate. For dessert, we had the lemon raspberry cake, and it was a showstopper. The cake was light and fluffy, with the zesty lemon flavor balancing perfectly with the tartness of the raspberries. The cake was topped with a delicate layer of frosting that was just sweet enough to add an indulgent touch without overpowering the fresh fruit flavors. Overall, Comensoli’s offers not only delicious food but also outstanding service, making it a hidden gem in the area. Whether you're in the mood for comforting pasta or a refreshing, light dessert, this restaurant has it all. I can't wait to return!

Wow. Drove from Jackson, MI to try this place since the food in Jackson isn't the best. It was worth the hour drive, so much so we will be back. If that doesn't tell you how good this place is then I don't know what else to say. Try it! The mussels were absolutely amazing. Frutti de Mare was fire.

We were greeted and shown to our table right away. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and even shared her favorite dish when we asked. From the appetizer to the entree and dessert the food was delicious. 10/10 experience would definitely recommend

We had our rehearsal dinner catered there this past Friday it was excellent. The food was fantastic. The chicken Parmesan is to die for and don’t get me started on those cannolis probably the best I’ve ever had! Thanks for the great food and service. We appreciated it, the Guido family.

Just had date night and could not be happier! The warm lighting, the light jazz, and the old style bar mixed with views of downtown creates the right environment for dreamy date. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is amazing! Good red sauce and bread. The pasta was amazing! Would definitely recommend.

We ordered Comensoli's through Doordash tonight, and had a huge hiccup and didn't receive our order because of Doordash. Comensoli's went ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure we had a great night with the correct order, even trying to make up for Doordash's mistake. From the moment I walked into the restaurant to pickup my order, the service, atmosphere, and food was EXCEPTIONAL! We will definitely make sure to make this a place we go out of our way for!!! Thank you very much for taking a mistake (not on your part, and making it a positive experience)!

Date night last weekend both of our first time there, so glad I recommended it to my Italian boyfriend we were both impressed!! He had some kind of seafood pasta, I had two chicken breasts beautifully cooked over pasta with lemon caper cream sauce it was amazing. We also shared gnocchi with vodka sauce. The antipasto salad was delicious we substituted with Cesar dressing. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a nice small quiet romantic setting. We were there on a Sunday evening we were the last ones there which made it more of a romantic vibe like we have the whole restaurant to ourselves.

This place is a gem! I’ve been here three times in the last couple of months with friends and family and all three were spectacular! Every single person thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Some of my personal favorites are the Frutti Di Mare, the salmon and the crab encrusted snapper! I had bolognese as a special once it was killer! I wish it was on the menu! I still think about it!

My husband and I visited Comensoli’s for our anniversary and were very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the food was fabulous! The waitress was on top of things and made sure we hade a great experience. I honestly can’t say enough and we can’t wait to dine there again!!

This little restaurant was hands down the best Italian food I have had in years! We had our anniversary dinner here this year & the service atmosphere & food were all amazing. I highly recommend it for any occasion.

We were happy to see that Comensoli’s decided to participate in the Kalamazoo vegan challenge. We love Italian food but is is difficult to find vegan food at most Italian restaurants. We tried the tofu Marsala from the vegan menu and from the regular menu they offered the exotic mushroom fettuccine Alfredo converted to be vegan. The waitress told us that they replaced to white sauce with oil to make it vegan. I thought it would be an oil base but should’ve asked for more details. The Marsala dish was good and presented well. The “exotic” mushroom dish turned out to be trumpet mushrooms, mostly bases and stems, fettuccine and oil. Literally that was it, 3 ingredients. The oil was clear so I don’t think it was even olive oil. The mushrooms were not fried and seemed boiled. They were wet and lacked flavor. The dish had no spices to lend it flavor. I just can’t believe they would serve something like this based on the quality of all of the other food I saw served. It was not good by any stretch of the imagination. To add insult to injury we sat on the porch and there was one wait person for 2- six tops and 5- four tops. Our waitress never returned to ask us if we’d like another drink, even after I requested the drink menu. She never asked how our meal was or if we liked our food. We did complain to management and the mushroom dish was taken off the bill. I really appreciate that you tried making a vegan dish. We encourage you to keep trying to add vegan dishes to your menu. Vegans don’t enjoy eating grass or bland food any more than the next person. If you create really good vegan food you will get more people trying those dishes and coming back for more. Not just vegans, but any one who is trying to be more health conscious and plant based.

I loved my dish, the tortellini with meatballs, but my partner got sick from the food, which cut our vacation short. He had one of the shrimp pasta dishes. It could have been an honest mistake or maybe his stomach just didn't agree. If you eat here, I recommend their patio seating. We sat inside which was ok, but when I saw the patio seating it looked cool. It's enclosed, so it makes it easier. I'd be willing to give this place another shot, but we would probably stay away from any shrimp dish just in case.

We stopped in for dinner before the marathon. It got the job done. Wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t great. We started with bruschetta. I wasn’t expecting it to be deconstructed, but it was fine nonetheless. I had the tomato basil angel hair (+ chicken). This was pretty good. Very generous portion size, and not overly sauced up. I would recommend this. My partner had the Cudighi Supreme Pizza. This looked like a frozen grocery store pizza, and didn’t taste much better. The crust was very clearly frozen, and the pizza itself had very little taste. Again, this place served its purpose! But we definitely weren’t blown away.

Food was just ok and fairly expensive. Really strange people working there. Really outdated place, considering the price. Was never offered drinks, so stuck with water. Bill was still $120 for 4.

FYI- no kids menu. 0 stars for service. Atmosphere was 5 stars, food we don’t know. We walked. Appetizer was good. Service was abysmal. There were three servers. The two that were not ours seemed to be great and on top of their tables. Ours, was awful. The hostess had to come over to get drinks because our waitress was no where to be found. That was about 15 minutes in to being seated. Another 15 minutes goes by and our waitress appears to take appetizer order. She doesn’t come back until dropping the appetizer off. At this point we had been there for 50 minutes. She takes our order and never comes back. Waters are empty. Another 20 minutes and I finally got my salad and they took the appetizer plate. We left at the 1.5 hour mark. We watched a table come in, eat, and leave all in less than an hour. And another table come in, eat, and paying their bill by the time we walked out. Kudos to the male waiter that helped us and waived our bill, but the blonde lady is the reason we will never ever go back to this place. It’s sad really because there are not a lot of good Italian places around here.

Things were fine until we were given the bill. There were 7 of us retired, and we had the Super Book coupon which they use to honor. There was nothing on line about not excepting the coupon when I had to reserve a table on line. We were there last year with our Corvette Club with maybe 30 people. We didn't use the card and understood that with being with a gruop not excepting it. Needless to say not happy and won't be back. To many Italian restaurant around we can pick from and they are as good.

Little flavor and scallops are way under cooked. Cesar salad was wilted like it was pre prepared and sitting out. The meatballs were gross !!!

J

Had reservations, sat at a table as soon as we arrived. Service was so low, 23 minutes for someone to ask our drink order, Food was mediocre, bathrooms gross, restaurant freezing (needed a coat the entire time). Wouldn't recommend, won't be back.

C
Carol Flynn Taylor

We walked into many dirty tables. The antipasto salad said it came with balsamic but mine came with Italian dressing not balsamic.

C

Giving them a 2 star because when I went there last year for my girlfriend's birthday we had a very great experience, service was good, food was good, wine was good. We had a great time and everything went smoothly. This year however, my girlfriend's mom made a reservation for us for her birthday, got the confirmation. Yet, when we showed up, they were closed on a Tuesday. No notification about them not being open or that they were closed that day. I called and got no response, left a voicemail and never got a call back in response, nothing. It sucks because she really likes this spot but that left a bad impression and makes us not want to go back.

Not ever going to come back. Why? When my son is scared for his safety due to all the homeless directly outside your resteraunt, I can't blame him. For 90 min, it was hard to enjoy our definitely full priced meals when, if you stuck your arm out and there wasn't a window there, you could touch a homeless person. Next, resteraunt didn't seem too enthused that we were showing up. We weren't a reservation, but they had openings, but we were treated more of a surprise that they will graciously deal with than actual paying customers. Had the Veal Parmagian and Seafood Linguini, with goat cheese for appetizer. House chianti, which was bad enough to change to something else, tried their house-made sangria.......hideous. made with cheap red wine and not enough fruit. Just wow. Notes on the food. Tomatoes for both the goat cheese and the veal were very bitter and very acidic. May want to taste these before serving. White sauce was thin and lumpy. Parmigiano was not worked into the pasta water to make the sauce. Comes from experience, and it was rushed, simple as that. On top of that, the veal Parmigian was put together with the care of a 16 year old high schooler with a hot date that night. My son apologized to me the moment we walked out the door and I asked him what he had to be sorry for. And he said, "I'm sorry that you wanted to like the food, but honestly, it wasn't very good." I told him I couldn't argue with him. This is the kid that has ate with me all over the country. Had great memories of Pasta Pasta back in the day, but apparently, I should just leave those memories in the past. I absolutly would not pay $100+ for what we got. I'm sorry, but unless the owner is going to refund me dinner with my son, I don't think we will ever be back.

r
redstarwraith

Bland, underseasoned, and uninspired. My frutti de mare was served with 4 mussels unopened, the tails left on my shrimp, and only a couple bay scallops. The sauce was watery and thin. It was flavourless. My dessert bars? Trader Joe's has better. Most disappointing birthday dinner of my 63 years!

C
Chris Porter

I am very disappointed with this restaurant. I’ve wanted to try this place for awhile so around 5:15 yesterday, I called and asked to see if there were any tables available to reserve. The man on the phone told me he has one table for two available until 7 and asked when we’d be there. I said we would be there in 15 minutes and he took our reservation. When we got there, a party of four was waiting to be seated. Apparently, the man at the host station had to get another table to push against another one so the party of four could be seated. The host came back to seat us and told us our table would have to be the bar since the table he had for us got merged to accommodate the other party. That’s a terrible way to treat customers who wanted to try your place for the first time or any time for that matter. We declined and spent our +$100 on food and drinks elsewhere. This place will never be considered an option again.

h
howard harvey

Unorganized, glacially paced. The food might be good, but after waiting 25 minutes for a glass of wine, and another 20 before we could put the order in, I decided I didn’t want to wait another 40 minutes for the food.

S
Samuel

The pizza which my party ordered the pepperoni & sausage pizza the sausage had a very tangy, sour taste to it and no flavor! we believe the sausage on the pizza was old … or spoiled so we sent it back was not a good experience at all.
