It is a cute little place about 20 mins away from Chichen Itza. I read about it on a Reddit thread and decided to give it a try. They were so welcoming to us and explained to us the three items on the menu from traditional Yucatan cuisine and also gave us a tour of the kitchens where they make their food. The food was simple but so flavourful. The tomato salsa was amazing, and the sausages were yummy. Overall a great lunch here and a great experience with a cuisine I had never had before.
It's been months since I ate there after visiting Chichen Itza, and I still think about it at least once a week. The poc chuk with the fresh salsa and handmade tortilla glistening with pork fat is one of the world's most perfect bites. It's a perfect and pure rainbow of flavors and textures. You can taste that everything is from there, not sourced from factories. And the surroundings were exactly what I wanted. Humble, festive, family-centric, earthy -- it's not some corporation's vision of how glorious Mexican cuisine can, it's the real thing.
OMG!! what a great restaurant!! We came after watching a YouTube video of people visiting Chichén Itzá, and this was one of their stops post ruins and post cenote visit! Their main specialty, is called Poc Chuc, which is a thin sliced pork grilled, served with beans, onions, cilantro, delicious home made tortillas and a spicy sauce(very spicy). They also serve encamisado which is an egg cooked inside a tortilla. Omg!! Delicious!! We also tried the chorizo which was a little spicy but yummy! The service is great!! So friendly and welcoming!!! There is free parking, but when we got there it was full so we parked across where they were charging $20 Mexican pesos. I loved the fact that everything is homemade and they invite you to go see their cooking process!! Everything smelled so yummy while back there!! We came at around 430-5pm and it was already full with locals…you know that’s always a great sign of excellent food! We were about to skip it because we didn’t want to get caught out in the darkness, but decided to go anyways! So glad we did! We also got to try real gum…sold there, that was awesome treat! For dessert we had the flan which was delicious 🤤! I also ordered agua de Chaya which was a lemony water with the herb Chaya, first time trying it and it was very refreshing. They also have music playing, a lovely gentleman playing the piano, kept the place lively! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If we ever return we will definitely visit again!
If you are around Chichén Itzá come here. They only have 1 specialty, it is called Poc Chuc, come here if you want to eat pork. It comes with onions, cilantro, frijoles, tortillas and a spicy sauce. They have the plus option that comes with sausage and egg, we had the normal one and were full after it! We paid around 300Mx with tip included, we left a lot of tip because of the service. There is free parking. We had it with beer and agua de Chaya. The agua de Chaya homemade is the best flavoured water I had in México! The service and food were very fast! Everything is homemade, you can see how they cook it. We ate lunch around 11:30am, I love you can eat lunch so early here! The attentive personnel is one of the best things this place has. Thank you, if back in Mexico we will come back!
10/10 If you are around Chichen Itza you have to go to La Tía De Kaua. The restaurant is a family business and everyone is working there. The service is very friendly and English speaking, you can watch the aunts preparing the food. They only have 3 different dishes but the taste extremely good. They have chicken with tortillas and salsas, fried tortillas with egg inside and homemade sausages. We tried everything and paid with drinks, food and desserts around 240 MX$. I recommend you to eat there, it’s a great experience.
We went here after a long morning of walking the chichen ruins. It is ran by the locals and all the food is handmade. We were given a tour of the kitchen and shown how they made their homemade tortillas. They only have 3 dishes and we got the fried egg inside a tortilla and the pork dish. There was three of us and we paid 360 peso such a steal! A must stop if you're in the area!
Such a good way to finish visiting Chichen-itza!! That was so delicious!! They have 3 main dishes. Paid 360 pesos for the meal in the photo. They showed us their kitchen as a tour. They were so polite and so kind!! They had live music at the time we were there too. The salsa!! Oh my goodness was the salsa delicious!!! Hot and smokey! It was perfect! Honestly best mexican food I have had out here!
The first time I tried pok chuc was at this restaurant and I tried at several other restaurants in the area but it didn’t taste half as good anywhere else. I was referred to this restaurant by the owner of the Airbnb rental I was staying at. Was told this is the best place for authentic Yucatán food.

Simple and delicious. The owner came out to greet us and they let our wives sit in the “kitchen” and make homemade tortillas with the staff. Great touch.
I was shocked. Ok his place looked horrible from the outside but my wife said let’s try. Boy was I set back this place was awesome. Only 4-5 menu options and we did the Black beans Ake pork stake…
Great food, they seem to have only two dishes available. We got the pork tortillas and they were great! We didn't ask for prices before ordering so I think we got overcharged; 350 pesos for two orders of food plus 1 Coke and 1 water. Very friendly Service, lots of locals were enjoying the space.

Turned out to be very average of all the food we had tasted in our tour of Yucatan and definitely not worth the hype. Very dirty atmosphere with stray dogs following you for a taste of the food. Also, for the love of God, make that guy stop singing so loudly. He had a terrible voice and my wife and I wanted to rip our eardrums out so we could stop hearing him. The red tint in the pictures is from the sun's light passing through the tents.
We don't understand the hype about this place. We drove for hours to visit due to a recommendation and honestly have never tasted more bland Mexican food in our lives (except the spice - that was pretty strong). I'm trying not to be mean, just honest. The staff had clearly had enough serving for one day (it was close to closing time) and were polite and correct but very disinterested and non-attentive. Our visit left us very disappointed.
Tourist trap! 240 pesos for a simple meal next to the street is clearly overpriced. The open fire makes breathing difficult. Not really a joyful experience.
