My husband and I stopped here on our way back to Tulum from Chichen Itza. We did the a la cart menu. The food was good. Miguel was our server and he was fantastic. Very friendly. The margaritas were great. My fish tacos were some of the best fish tacos I have ever had. My husband got the chicken poc noc and was obsessed. A true gem!
Place which had a large range of food. Typical large buffet. Beers around $70-80mx. Aside from the food, it's a good place to see Mexican culture. It has areas to walk around after - Shaman blessing, tortila making, and gift stores with a range of genuine obsidian rocks ($30usd) which can be blessed by the shaman.
Buffet food here was very good! It was fresh and very flavorful. The service was very prompt and kind. They gave a recommendation for a green drink, I dont know what its called, but it was very tasty and light! About $9.50 CAD (120 mxn) a cup which is a bit steep but it was also a larger cup. I was on a timed tour so I couldn't finish it there and they provided me with a cup so i could leave with it. There was a live performance while we were there as well. It was very nice :)
We were dropped here for lunch as part of a tour to Chichen Itza from Cancun. Really nice place to visit! They take the time to explain the Mayan culture. Souvenir shop is pricier than others, but besides that, it's a great place! The shop had everything, but it was very, very pricey, I can't complain as the funds here are used to help back the community kids and so on. Plus, their spuvenirs are authentic and of the best quality. Best tacos I ever had. Food was so much better than the 5 star resort in Cancun. More flavourful and tasty. Everything was flavourful and made from basic ingredients. They even showed us how it’s made traditionally. This place was nice. We were able to see a show during the lunch break, and you could purchase your Mayan Birth Certificate. We also were able to see a shaman. We used Ekinox Tours Cancun with Ricardo as our guide.
This stop came right after visiting the great ruins of Chichen Itza, or as some call it, Chicken Pizza. The place was advertised as an “authentic Mayan village,” home to “authentic Mayan descendants” cooking “authentic Mayan food.” In practice, it was more of a compound featuring a souvenir shop, a restaurant, and a very ambitious marketing department. Lunch was a culinary revelation: authentic Mayan spaghetti bolognese. Who knew the ancient Maya had access to Italian cuisine? We were served a mysterious “green juice” with no mention of price, but the surprise came later on the bill. Cultural exchange at its finest. Entertainment arrived mid-meal in the form of what I can only describe as enthusiastic larpers reenacting an ancient jumping ritual, accompanied by sound levels approaching a rock concert. No explanation, no warning, but full commitment to the bit. The souvenir shop was an experience of its own: think Balenciaga prices with tourist-trap charm. While you browse, your “Mayan birth certificate” gets printed with your name, a spiritual touch straight from the laser printer. In fairness, the staff were friendly and clearly doing their best. Between the CNC-carved “handmade” art and the pasta blessed by Kukulkan himself, it’s safe to say the experience was… uniquely modern Mayan.
We were dropped here for lunch as part of a tour to Chichen Itza from Cancun. We were told it was an authentic Mayan village, but really it's just a shop & restaurant with employees rather than Mayan community members. The shop had everything, but was very very pricey, and employees would not stop following you around. I just wanted to browse but had employees over my shoulder every time I looked at something. Not to mention we had our photos taken on arrival on our phones, only to find said photos on bottles of Mayan spirit later in the day which they attempted to sell to us. This was a bit unnerving as we had no idea they would be taking photos of us. The food was buffet style, not very authentic (spaghetti with sauce?) and tasted very bland. Sadly when we returned to the hotel, we came down with food poisoning and we were really unwell. Would not recommend this place. If you come as part of a tour I would recommend avoiding the food & bringing your own.
