Earth at Hidden Pond on Christmas Eve was truly exceptional. The prix fixe experience stood out immediately for its flexibility and thoughtfulness. We had four diners take entirely different paths through the menu, and the kitchen handled everything flawlessly, including accommodating a dairy allergy in a way we have never experienced before. Allowing a dessert substitution for another first course was a game changer. Instead of the usual underwhelming sorbet workaround, our guest with the allergy was able to enjoy another exceptional dish, which elevated the entire experience. Abby, our server, was fantastic from start to finish. She was buttoned up, thoughtful, and delivered service that felt both polished and genuinely warm. From the drinks to the first courses to every plate that followed, this was the best meal we have had in New England across Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. For the prix fixe price, the value is outstanding. Truly top class. We will be coming back as often as we are able.
We had a lovely evening at Earth at Hidden Pond! My husband and I were visiting Kennebunkport and while researching restaurants I came across this gem. The menu was outstanding, plenty of options for all different palates. The portions were plentiful and there was so much thought and precision put into each dish. My husband loved the tuna tartare, pork chop, and the donuts are a must! I enjoyed the carrot appetizer, scallops, and the pork belly. Definitely make reservations and don’t miss out on this culinary adventure!
Best meal I've had in a very long time. Absolutely exceptional. They gave us a couple extra dishes to try too! Amazingly kind and top-notch service, and incredible ambience. I'm going to try to go once a season now. The dishes were both creative/inspired and comforting/delicious. Can't wait to go back and see what they come up with next season!
Fantastic Valentine’s food and atmosphere. Wait staff was excellent and answered all our questions and filled all our needs. Very nice night and we will be back, for the summer menu
We lucked out with last-minute reservations, though the only slot left was 9 PM …not exactly ideal, but we were excited nonetheless. Once we arrived, we switched our table to seats at the bar, which turned out to be the right move. Patrick took incredible care of us, and the main dining room is lovely. The meal was outstanding. Sleeper hits included the corn pasta, barley risotto, and butternut squash soup. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and satisfyingly hearty. The only miss was the seafood stew - the broth was so hot that it overcooked the seafood, leaving it a bit tough. Aside from that, the food and service were impeccable and well worth the late-night effort.
Went for a wedding event in a private room out in “The Shed.” The food was delicious, the staff was professional, and plenty of menu items. The bar / restaurant looked full, lovely, and enjoyable. Great for star gazing and outdoor seating in warmer weather.
Such a special dinner, staff, and overall atmosphere! Our waitress, Nicole, was so sweet and personable. The food was delicious, drinks as well. We took an Uber there and Lyft back and both drivers got very lost!
We totally lucked out & got a last-minute reservation at Earth at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine. Our waitress Kirsten was a fabulous hostess, super friendly & accommodating. We started with fresh bread & some beautiful cocktails. I had the cauliflower with pistachios & hummus my friend had the tuna sashimi, both were simply amazing! The second course was carrots with feta & goose foie gras. The entrees were the star of the show the lobster thermador & pork chop over polenta. Barely had room for dessert but it was included & had the red velvet cheesecake. The whole experience was amazing can't wait to dine in again!
I came here to celebrate my Mom's birthday, and we were blown away by this dining experience! The atmosphere inside the restaurant is rustic, cozy, with warm lighting. We had a lovely and delicious dinner, and our server Jessica was so kind and attentive. The food was phenomenal, and so were the drinks. We both opted for the Farm to Gin cocktail, and the lavender infused gin was the perfect addition to our courses. The tuna sashimi was incredible, and the truffle risotto was insane I wish I could eat that everyday. The scallops were perfectly cooked and really I could go on an on about the food but you get the idea. We were so full leaving this dinner, and I feel like it was the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. No notes!
WOW….A dusty path to the restaurant but Ryan, the classy person who’s in charge of the valet sets a professional tone. With a reserved table you are quickly seated. A veteran wait staff. Our man Charlie was amazing…he answered all questions in a manner to help guide us thru our dining experience. It started with a great drink, fabulous bread/dipping oil…and ends with the greatest donuts in the world. Everything in between was incredible. Fresh, delicious foods that are beautifully presented and taste even better. An atmosphere and dining experience that is difficult to match. “Earth” is in a universe by itself…we drove from Newport, RI and we will return.
An amazing experience! Came here for a baby moon with my wife. Everything was beyond our expectations. The pastry chef even made a custom mini cake with pink and blue in the middle. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
What a delight. Beginning with the service and moving straight through the cocktails and food, everything exceeded expectations. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Well, worth the money! The pork belly was amazing (most memorable) and I had the Lobster Thermidore for main course and was delicious!
Incredible meal with loved ones. What a beautiful place and the food was phenomenal. We were spoiled by our wonderful server Adian!
Prix fixe 3 or 4 course menu. Everything was seasoned and cooked wonderfully. Cocktails were delicious! The staff was friendly and the courses all came out on time. The atmosphere is rustic yet trendy. A great place for a special occasion or for entertaining guests. All of the food was great but the desserts really stole the show. Do not miss the fresh doughnuts!!!
Came here this past weekend and had a tremendous experience. Everything from the valet, service, and of course the food was perfect. We did the 4 course menu and had a couple glasses of wine which was very fairly priced for what you are getting. One of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. Wish I took more photos! Thank you Earth!
Our favorite restaurant in the northeast. We go here for every special occasion. The food is great and the service is even better. The only thing I think they can improve on is the cocktails. I’ve had a few but I usually end up drinking wine as I haven’t had much success with their cocktails! The doughnuts are to die for.
My husband and I dined at Earth at Hidden Pond during our recent trip to Maine. Driving in to the restaurant is a beautiful experience, as the tall trees that line the driveway are quite stunning. When arriving at the restaurant we saw that it leads you to valet parking. We prefer not to valet so we parked in the small self park lot a short walk away from the entrance door. When entering the restaurant we observed the warm and inviting decor. We were promptly seated by the host. The dining experience was great. The drinks and plates were all enjoyable. The service was prompt and friendly. We highly recommend and would return!
We had an excellent experience here. We were staying at Hidden pond and did not have a reservation. We were told we could arrive at 5 and be sat since we were guests of the resort. We did that and everything went great. They brought out fresh focaccia and it was probably the best focaccia I have ever had. (We had a second bowl 🤭) My partner and I both went for the 4 course meal and we decided to share a little of each dish. First course was the Apricot salad and the Risotto. Both very good. The second course was the Scallops and the Cavatelli. The scallops were good, but nothing by to write home about.. The Cavatelli was both of our favorite dish of the entire night. They should make it a min course because it was so creamy and delicious, we fought over every bite! 😜 For Main course we got the Salmon and the Halibut. The Salmon was good. I think with the other flavors my palette wasn’t prepared for the tropical flair it had. All the other dishes were so earthy it was kind of an odd flavor change up. I will note , the “gnocchi” in the dish were AMAZING pillow clouds that I couldn’t get enough of. Put those in with the Cavatelli dish and make it a min course and I would drive here everyday for it 😋 The Halibut was delicious! Second favorite dish to the Cavatelli. For dessert, we got the Chocolate Tart and the Rose cake. We saw everyone raving about the donuts, so we added those on to see the hype. All 3 desserts were good.. stand alone they weren’t rock stars. We combined them and had fun mixing the flavors and I enjoyed the flavors more that way. I am not a huge donut person, but if you like donuts, I will say, these were extremely well done. They came out hot and when you put a cold ice cream with it, the hot and cold on the tongue feel so good and the flavors really pop. My partner loved the Tart. I personally thought all 3 were great only when mixed. Stand alone, just good. Presentation of every dish was just perfection! Our server was Roberto. He is great with customer service, and we actually took his recommendations with drinks and food, and I am glad we did because it ended up being some of our favorite dishes. I also forgot to mention drinks. My partner started with the hidden smoke, and loved it. After dessert we ordered the Fire in the Forest, and it was DELICIOUS. we took it over to the fire pit and relaxed and enjoyed the fire and evening sky as the stars started coming out. (We were there for 3 hours total including sitting outside for about 30 minutes). I absolutely can’t wait to come back. For the people who write poor reviews, do not listen. Yes the costs might be a little high here For some, but it’s worth the money (I actually find the costs reasonable). I look forward to being back!
We stopped at Earth at Hidden Pond for dinner on Friday night. We had a lovely time, and every dish we had was a hit. To start, we had the tuna shashimi (perfect flavors), beef tartare, and the carrots. For the second course, we had the cavatelli, pork belly and crab cakes. Of those 3 - the pork belly was our favorite by far. The waiter also gave us the barley risotto to try for the table which was also really delicious. For our mains, we had the salmon, venison and the duck. Each was perfectly cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had the donuts, crème brûlée, and they brought us over the chocolate cake to try. The donuts are always our go-to & can’t recommend them enough. 10/10 - no notes.
One of my new favorite places to go! Loved it!! Everything was amazing! Service is one of the top 3 places we have been! Highly recommended!!!
Loved it. I had an amazing birthday meal at Earth at Hidden Pond. We had a group of 11 in a poolside cabana. Wonderful place to enjoy with good friends. We all marveled at the food. Each course was better than the last. It was a warm June night. Peepers, fireflies, fantastic ambiance. Very special. Will be remembered. I just read some of the negative reviews and just want to say, yes the service was kinda slow and not super attentive but honestly it’s June 2021 we are still transitioning out of this crazy COVID year, it seems like everyone in the hospitality industry is struggling to find enough staff these days as they gear up to re open. So I’d advise anyone who comes here to remember a little patience and kindness goes a long way these days. I honestly believe the servers were doing their best given the situation. Also with regard to portions, if you’re looking for large portions go back to the Cheesecake Factory. This place is about quality over quantity, beautiful plating, culinary balance and finesse. The portions here are not large, so allow that to inform your decision about whether this is the right place for you.
This was the best dining experience I’ve had in a very long time, I was worried the portions would be too small since it was a coursed dinner..pleasantly surprised (& VERY full at the end), the chefs are doing everything right. The food was a work of art, the combination of textures in every dish and opposing flavors that become complimentary when paired in the correct manner. Service was great, drinks (though we only had two) were great, timing was perfect on each course...you need to go with people you like to talk to, the course isn’t back to back, there’s time to digest, drink, talk, then your next course...& valet was a bonus, this will be my new fine dining go to in Maine. Thank you to all of the moving parts that made this experience great...host, valet, server, food runners, chefs, the interior decorator...so much thought & effort to bring a good experience to the guests and it does not go unnoticed. Don’t forget to tip (min)20% & if you’re doing valet throw them something too. All the love!
I went looking for the one true restaurant that spoke to my love of the 1996 classic SciFi film Independence Day, and when we were greeted upon our entry with "Welcome to Earth," I knew I was finally home. The carrots and pork belly were roasted to perfection just like the victory cigars that peak '90s Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum smoked after defeating the aliens trying to invade the planet and destroy humanity. Although the Americans led the charge in the final battle, it was a world-wide effort, similar in scope and duration to the effort put into the duck and lobster main dishes, which were prepared with a passion and self-sacrifice resembling the crucial moment where Russell flew into the belly of the alien mothership after the aliens' shields were brought down to complete his redemption arc. The arrogance of Brent Spiner's (perhaps most well known for playing Data in the Star Trek: The Next Generation) character was nowhere to be found in the dessert of Doughnuts and Creme Brulee, which were exquisitely prepared and imparted an explosion of flavor not dissimilar from the nuclear explosion that rocked the alien mothership and allowed humanity to overcome its much more technologically advanced foe. The service was fantastic, and we were even treated to a couple small plates on the house. Maybe that's because we were among the last guests there and they had pre-prepared the dishes for orders that didn't materialize, or maybe our server and I felt a deep mutual connection to the characters and events of a '90s era thriller that included a stripper rescuing the first lady of the United States in the aftermath of a brutal alien attack. You should watch Independence Day and then head to Earth at Hidden Pond right after; make it a double-feature of sorts. Welcome to Earth!
Consistently one of the classiest and delectable dining experiences in Southern Maine. Tucked away at Hidden Pond, earth keep us coming back for their food, drinks, level of service and atmosphere. This is a great spot for a date night or celebrating something special. Their food is unmatched. 3 courses provides plenty of food. Their portions are appropriate and definitely not small. We always leave satisfied and happy and looking forward to coming back. Earth gets my highest recommendation! Enjoy!
Our group of 6 had an absolutely fantastic dinner at Earth! We each chose varying dishes and could not stop raving about them. The cocktails were refreshing and unique, and the flavors of many of the dishes were aromatic and delicious. I’d personally recommend the lemon tart option for dessert - we even came back for more lemon tarts to-go the next day! Thanks for a fantastic evening.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. It started with the bread...best bread ever! Every course was so fantastic. Highly recommend the donuts for dessert. Amazing and friendly service. Beautiful restaurant. Hard to get a better overall experience! Can I please have the bread recipe? (I live in TX, so I can visit the restaurant regularly... unfortunately.)
One of the most amazing restaurants we have ever been too. Such fresh food, amazing service and gorgeous setting. Charlie was an amazing server and treated us so well. Thank you the entire team!
First time diners and we are already planning our return! We were unable to secure reservations until 9pm so we opted to play the early bird game and snagged 2 seats at the bar. Patrick was our excellent server for the evening. The Wagyu with butter-poached lobster was probably the best appetizer we've had. Fettuccini with rabbit was excellent, as were the donuts for dessert. Loved the halibut entree too. The menu is beyond thoughtful, it's art, and really good art 🎨
Third time this trip. Hands down the best restaurant in Kennebunkport and central coast. The attention to details is amazing. The restaurant manager (she is always walking around making sure you’re well) is just wonderful and welcoming. The tartare explodes with flavours. Patrick the bartender is so professional and always friendly and knowledgeable. The gnocchi was perfect. Can’t wait to be back here.
Fresh Burrata, heirloom tomatoes and veg picked right from the restaurants garden outside. Delicious local hand picked diver scallops in one of the tastiest herb white sauces I've ever had. Beautifully cooked steak with chanterelles and garden grown root vegetables. Fresh Maine lobster with freshly made gnocchi. Then ended with light and fresh desserts that were well balanced and nkt too sweet. Everything was local, fresh, and thoughtfully put on the plate. Farm to table at its best. We did wish our server was a bit more personable and attentive, we would have ordered more drinks but couldn't get ahold of them. Next time we probably would just get a bottle of wine. The cocktails were fun, creative, and very pretty however a bit unbalanced. The food and atmosphere was perfect in every way. Overall an absolutely great dining experience, definitely recommend.
Earth at Hidden Pond is a literal hidden gem out in the middle of nowhere. The location is quiet and peaceful, with beautiful earthy decor. The heat in the main room made us feel like we were dining in someone's cozy home. Our server, Kurt was terrific at making recommendations. The four-course meal was well worth the $92/pp we paid. Each dish had unique ingredients that blended like a symphony. Our favorite course was the Tuna Sashimi; the black garlic, soy sauce, and avocado mysteriously had a spicy flavor. Each dish afterwards was delightful, cooked perfectly, and made with love. If you are in the Kennebunkport area, and celebrating a special occasion, I highly recommend Earth at Hidden Pond.
We had an absolutely wonderful meal last night. We arrived early to have a drink around the "Serenity Pool" and ended up staying in our spot to have dinner as well. The service was impeccable--friendly, professional and just solicitous enough. Our meal was, in a word, excellent. I had the salmon sashimi my dinner partner had the pizza Margarita to start--both faultless. We then had the special--a 20 oz bone in rib eye big enough to feed a small army (we took 1/2 home). It was a perfectly cooked medium rare and seasoned exactly as requested--with no finishing salt. To end the evening we shared the donuts with fresh vanilla bean ice cream. How do you spell "food coma"? Will we return? Without doubt!
Adian was a PHENOMENAL server. He is just a bright human filled with laughter. I tentatively tried the green whip on the sashimi and made a relieved sigh that it wasn't Wasabi and his laughter at my reaction was absolutely contagious. The food was divine and they served us a complimentary flute of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary. Incredible experience.
This was not just dinner. It was a masterclass in hospitality. My girlfriend and I chose the four-course prix fixe, and from the first spoonful it was clear this kitchen operates on a different plane. I began with the butternut squash soup, deeply aromatic, perfectly balanced between sweetness and earth. The winter salad was equally composed. Bright, seasonal, and intentional. Excellent starts, though in hindsight they were merely the opening notes. The second course is where the evening took a decisive turn. I ordered the cavatelli, while my girlfriend chose the fettuccine. Both pastas were outstanding. Rich, precise, and deeply satisfying. When I mentioned being torn between the cavatelli and the pork belly, our waiter Charlie made a move that defines great service. Without hesitation or theatrics, he brought the pork belly as well. Not as an upsell, not as a favor, but as an understanding of the moment. It was exceptional. Crisply rendered, luxuriously tender, and memorable enough to stand beside the pastas rather than compete with them. For the main course, I had the strip loin and my girlfriend ordered the pork chop. Both were executed with confidence and restraint. Perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and plated without ego. The strip loin was bold and clean, the pork chop juicy and nuanced. No weak links, no overreaching. By dessert, we were happily overwhelmed and took ours to go. Later that night, I enjoyed the chocolate tart in bed, rich without heaviness, while the cheese plate was thoughtful, balanced, and satisfying. As if the night had not already given enough, Charlie sent us home with complimentary doughnuts. A final, unnecessary but unforgettable gesture. Charlie deserves special mention. His service was polished, intuitive, and genuinely warm. He read the table perfectly, offered guidance without intrusion, and elevated the entire experience. His class and expertise were unmatched. This is, without question, the best restaurant experience we have ever had. Impeccable food, effortless hospitality, and a standard of care that is increasingly rare. Top of the line in every sense.
I could spend a year talking about how much I adored this place. The food was incredible, the servers were so so lovely, the atmosphere was elegant, but somehow quaint and cozy at the same time. The grounds are beautiful with a roaring fire outside that you can sit around with a beverage. When I go to a restaurant with a pre fix menu, I usually find that the portions are quite small, but I was absolutely stuffed leaving this meal. It was incredible; I would recommend every time! Especially for a special occasion!
Not only was this some of the best food I have ever tasted, but this was without a doubt the best service I have ever experienced. Staff was friendly, personable and knowledgeable, especially our server Charlie (I believe). Simply an exemplary evening with divine food. Thank you all so much for such a wonderful evening.
Pretty freaking amazing. Came here 2 times a year apart for anniversary. My wife really likes that you can pick and choose your tasting menu instead of just a prix fixe chef selection. Service is amazing, friendly, they remembered us (kept us in the system notes) from a year ago! The food is almost perfect, some things to nick pick, but like 90-95% there. I definitely think they should/could be a Michelin candidate.
Outstanding experience. Service was perfect from start to finish and the four-course meal was beautifully paced. The venison was out of this world, the house-made pastas were incredible, and the raspberry mousse at the end was the best my wife has ever had. A true Maine gem.
Just this past December, we booked a private dining experience in The Painting Shed (12 adults and 1 baby) for our wedding dinner. Sydney was our main point of contact here leading up to the event and wow, she was just incredible. SO patient with our questions and fully attentive to all details. Our server (I want to say Kurt) was absolutely wonderful - extremely friendly, professional, and had zero problem taking care of ALL of us and for 3+ hours. He made everything fun and accommodating for each guests’ needs. The food & cocktails were just stunning. And the Painting Shed itself felt like magic. I’ll never forget walking in those shed doors for the first time - it felt like stepping into a real life storybook. We truly cannot thank Earth enough for being such a special part of our big day!
Our overall experience at Earth was really positive. Everyone was extremely kind and made our occasion very special. We went with the 4 course option, which was $105/person. I’m of the opinion that you can spend a lot if it’s unforgettable. The menu has a good deal to choose from, and the option to go for an extra first/second courses instead of a dessert was nice, since we wanted to try other things and split dessert. The food was all prepared and presented beautifully. The pace was also done really well. It wasn’t too fast, and the next courses came as we finished things. We left very full. Nothing really popped out to us as being very memorable, though, so I’m not sure we’d make it back for a second visit with the price. Overall, it was a great experience.
After reading so many reviews, I was excited to head to Earth at Hidden Pond. The atmosphere is what you pay for - it’s stunning, the grounds are beautiful, and the decor is gorgeous. Our server was wonderful and very nice. The food is good - with some real hits - but we were hoping for something a bit more special. Everything felt a bit rushed and like they were just trying to get us out the door. The carrots and chicken were both delicious! All in all a lovely meal but not somewhere I *need* to return to or tell everyone about.
After finding this lovely spot, we enjoyed a lovely meal. So nice trying some we’re out of the way. The service was a little slow to start and our server was a a little over stretched. Oysters were absolutely delicious. Tuna was a little bit thick but tasted wonderful. Cocktails were a delight. Scallops were beautiful cooked. Over all wonderful meal.
We particularly enjoyed the patio outside near the pool as it was very busy and noisy inside. Our waiter even made the remark that going outside was a breath of fresh air for him! They offer only a 3, 4 or 5 courses services. We had the 3 courses for $85 and it was imply sufficient. A choice of first or second plate, one main, one dessert. The 4 courses is $95 and 5, $10 more. The menu can be consulted on their website. A reservation is highly recommended. Good choice of wine by the glass at around $15 for each. The wood oven eggplant was to die for, so much for the sea bass as the stir sirloin. We heard some admiration for the wood oven lobster, as the donuts for dessert by a couple nearby. If you know French patisseries, desserts in America is deceiving, so don’t have your hope to high. Everything else was very good and to standard of a great table. Service was a bit slow at first but once your order is in, you are setup for the evening. We went by the pond after near the fire pit, as it was a bit cold outside.
I recently dined at Earth at Hidden Pond and had a fantastic experience. The cocktails were exquisite, offering a delightful start to the evening. The execution of each course in our four-course tasting menu was impeccable, but the Tuna sashimi and A5 wagyu stole the show. We had the seafood stew for dinner with scallops, shrimp and lobster in a light Thai inspired broth, and the sea bass. The sea bass (general name for many fish) was fine (con fit mushrooms and cauliflower w chicken jus) the flavors just didn't help balance the dish. The fish, it was more along the lines of a branzino...than a thicker filet of fish (which I admit I expected, but didn't inquire more of my server). The service was attentive and excellent, enhancing our overall enjoyment. And let's not forget the donuts for dessert – they were the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal. A dining experience that I would re visit. Be mindful, four courses is $90+ pp.
We visited Earth for a special dinner during our honeymoon, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet our expectations. I had reached out ahead of time to let them know it was a special occasion, hoping for a more intimate seating arrangement. When we arrived for our 7:00 PM reservation, we were made to wait over 30 minutes while others were seated. I asked if we could have a seat in a more private area, but the hostess was dismissive and unaccommodating, which soured our mood. Thankfully, once we were seated, our waitress was incredibly kind and attentive, going out of her way to help turn the evening around. Despite being placed in a cold draft, she thoughtfully provided blankets to make us more comfortable, and her warmth improved our overall experience. For our meal, we ordered the four-course option, which included cauliflower soup, crab cakes, cavatelli, fettuccine, halibut, lobster polenta, doughnuts, and crème brûlée, plus a complimentary cake for our honeymoon. The presentation and plating of all the dishes were very nice, but while the halibut and doughnuts were highlights, the crab cakes were a disappointment, with the spicy mayo overwhelming the flavor of the crab. The pasta dishes (cavatelli and fettuccine) were under-seasoned and lacked depth in their sauces. Overall, the food was about a 7.5/10, but given the $300 price tag, it didn’t quite deliver the experience or value we anticipated. Earth has potential, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype for us.
Let me preface by saying I wish I could give it half star more. So a 3.5 in total I waited 4 years to visit Earth. I followed their Instagram page and could NOT wait to make it here. My husband brought me for my birthday The restaurant is inside the resort of Hidden Pond, so there's no surprise the grounds are gorgeous. The atmosphere is cozy and has a modern earthy nature feel to it. The pre fixed menu is well rounded. Fine dining and cuisine experience is not something I'm knew to, and I must say the portions are SMALL. Except dessert, those were huge haha. The quality of the food is fresh and well put together - some plates may have been a bit too much for the palate. For example, the Lobster Polenta had ALOT of different flavors, and I'm not sure it was a good thing. Okay. Now the real disappointment - Flys, fruit flys, bugs. EVERYWHERE. My husband and I spent our whole meal shooing away fruit Flys and regular Flys. This truly has to make me wonder how the kitchen keeps it under control. We spent north of $400 on this meal for two, and we should NOT have had to deal with that.
It is a beautiful atmosphere. Service mediocre and food and food presentation below average. Donuts were not home made and they were just glazed donuts with vanilla ice cream. Duck not cooked properly (not the temperature but preparation). Overall not impressed.
Depends on the person, this place might be described as romantic, beautiful and upscale, or it can be described as expensive for no reason. The food is set 3 or 4 course menu and it cost $105-$115 per person with a single drink and tip you are above $150 per person. Furthermore, the chef is trying to be fancy and mixing things that in "my opinion" does not sit well. However, I am a very simple person who likes bread and butter more than anything else. Great place for people who like to take photos and post them showing off their journey.
We went here years ago and had an awful experience but thought we’d give it another try. Sadly it wasn’t much better. The atmosphere is really cool but that didn’t make up for the meal. It took awhile for our server to come over. We finally ordered our drinks and then meal after our drinks came. It’s a price fix menu so you get to choose an item from each course with a set price of $105pp for 3 courses or $115pp if you want 4 courses. I enjoyed the beet salad but the butternut soup didn’t taste very good and it had a big scallop sitting in the middle and small chunks of pear in the soup. Very strange to put a fishy scallop in butternut soup. My husband had the winter’s salad and tuna sashimi which was 4 very thinly sliced pieces that were soaked in soy sauce. We both got the halibut which was the best part of the meal. So if you get the 3 course meal it’s about $35 per course…a tiny salad for $35? 4 very thin salty pieces of tuna for $35?? I’m sorry but this place is so over priced it’s ridiculous. After tip our bill was $311…for 2 people and a mediocre meal at best. We frequent Scales in Portland & Lost Fire in Kennebunkport and spend $250 for an incredible meal and go home with leftovers. Side note: the ladies room toilets were all pink and slimy and haven’t been cleaned in weeks.. we will never go back! The valet was very nice👍
