Soy Tofu is a local Korean gem known for its flavorful and silky soft tofu soup (soondubu). Customers rave about the banchan, galbi, and the friendly service. Some find the seafood portions small or the tofu bland on occasion.
Tip: Don't hesitate to ask for free appetizer refills and request purple rice instead of white rice for a more authentic experience.

It’s a great place to go sit down for some yummy Korean fare! My favorite is the tofu soup, and the lady who runs the place is lovely.
This is truly a hidden gem, if you want great Korean food in the La Palma area. They serve various dishes, but the soon tofu is a staple. Other great dishes include the nangmyun and galbi. Service is excellent and the servers speak English. A bonus is it’s located adjacent to a Korean market and there’s plenty of parking.
I'm a fan of Soy Tofu! It is another local gem. The service is kind and attentive, the dining area is clean, and the vibe is pleasant. The decor is simple and homey. I've dined here several times already, and each time was fantastic. My current favorite items: - Soon Tofu (soups) - mushroom and the beef + seafood with black rice - The Tofu Combos - if you're a little more hungry, I recommend the BBQ short ribs with the tofu soup - Dumplings - fried or steamed, they are both excellent! - The complimentary ice cream! When you receive the boiling hot tofu soup, immediately add the raw egg and stir it a little. The egg will cook fast in the hot broth. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available. If you're in the area, try Soy Tofu. It's in a plaza with a Korean market and many other restaurants. There's usually plenty of parking in the public lot.
Food was delicious--ordered an entirely vegan meal. The vegetable tofu soup was flavorful. Only just discovering this place after 10 Years of living in the area. Thank you, Grace!
Tips: Don't be shy to ask for free appetizer refill and request purple rice instead of white rice. Best tofu in town. The soup base is the soul of the tofu set lunch and dinner. The seafood handmade noodle is a must because of the fresh ingredient and soup, no MSG. An owner operated family restaurant. Extremely courteous front line crew and seasoned chef. Don't forget to ask for the hot corn tea and help yourself with the ice cream on the house...green tea, coffee, strawberry, and vanilla flavor. Just found out that they also cater Korean and Japanese food as well.
Super solid soondubu spot. I really liked the dumpling and oyster soups. The Galbi and bulgogi were both also very flavorful. Also plenty side dishes are provided! 10/10 would come back again, if I’m looking to get Korean tofu soup.
This place is amazing. A total hidden gem. The food is spectacular. So flavorful and good quality. The atmosphere is very cute. The customer service is incredible. The pricing is not expensive, especially for what you get. I am definitely coming back here.
This is the place to go for Korean food if you're in the area. The food and service here are phenomenal! Along with tofu stews, they also have rice and noodle dishes, BBQ, seafood pancake, and free ice cream!
An old favorite with excellent food and the subtle feeling of dining at the owner's home. They also have free ice cream cones for dessert.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT HERE. A new go-to soondoboo spot! The service was fast and although it was a little quiet it was absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend it. The quality is just like BCD or Cho-Dang (I might even think a little bit better than!!) They had some unique banchan that i loved!! the beef and seafood tofu soup included Baby Octopus!! which I've never seen before. FREE self-serve ICE CREAM after the meal!! which brings back so much nostalgia and delicious! The deco is also so cute and the theme is adorable and classy and cottage like. I would highly recommend!! YELP review gets you free gyoza!! everyone in the party must review though. The Gyoza was so crispy and delicious!!

The food quality and taste is wonderful! Their Kalbi and Soontofu is so tasty. They are just best of best!
Amazing find for authentic Korean food. Amazing service and great food. What more could you ask for.
One of my favorite local Korean places. Tofu soup is excellent. Friendly staff.

Amazing food
amazing Korean food! great service
Amazing restaurant, one of my absolute favorites
Food is fresh and the service is awesome
Love this place Great food and service
I have been eating here since day one of opening. One of the best Korean tofu soup places in the area. If you miss Korean bbq during quarantine they have take out and the bulgogi, short ribs, and spicy pork entrees are delicious!!! The owner Grace is amazing and they have wonderful service, quality is unbeatable.
March 3, 2023 We live in Hacienda Heights and looking for a Korean Tofu and Galbi for dinner. I searched Internet, typed "Best Korean Tofu around here". SOY TOFU came up. I looked at the reviews and decided to give it a try. First impression: We arrived at 4:30 PM, Friday. One of the owner swept the front of the restaurant. I thought they have pride of their restaurant. Second impression: I am a stroke patient. I walked with my cane to the front door, the owner gentleman opened the door for me. " A gentleman and a kind person". Third impression: the restaurant was spotless. Fourth impression: I walked with my cane to the toilet. The owner lady opened the front door to the toilet corridor for me. Another kind gester. Now the real test: we ordered a combination Oyster Tofu with Galbi and a combination Beef and seafood Tofu with Galbi. Each order costs $33, a bargain! The Oyster Tofu was great. It had very fat Oysters with complexed taste. The beef and sea food Tofu were filled with beef and seafood. Note: For the combination, they served a full size Tofu (most restaurant serve a smaller size). Galbi: each serving had nicely seasoned and barbecued short ribs. The Galbi were tender and tasty. Another wonderful surprise, they serve eight different kinds of Kimchi condiments. The hard to find items are Aloe Vera and sweet peanut kimchi. Everything were so tasty, we finished every single item they served us. The service was attentive and excellent. Final surprise: Soy Tofu has a self served three different kinds of ice cream. We highly recommend this restaurant. Chris V.
This has been my favorite soondubu spot for awhile now. The spice level is appropriate when I order it extra spicy, yet it doesn't overwhelm the flavoring of the soup. The banchan is also very good. Service is very friendly. Oh, and you can get free ice cream on the way out.
Delicious home-cooked, authentic Korean food. Grace, the owner, who cooks the food, was so welcoming and kind. Bibimbap solid and dishes come with plenty of sides!
Love this restaurant! The mushroom tofu soup with all the side dishes are exceptional as is the service. Top it off with the ice cream and what a meal. You will not be disappointed!
Our favorite place to eat Korean food. Customer service is outstanding. Food is delicious. Decor is very quaint and inviting. And who doesn't love free dessert????
If quality matters, this is the place to go to have Soft Tofu in all over L.A. and Orange County, hands down. I am very happy this place is close to my work but even if it wasn't convinient for me, I'd still travel to eat here. Clean, healthy and delicious!
The hostess was very sweet! Our dumplings were delicious, and complimentary ice cream was offered during the wait.
The food here is very flavorful. There is a wide variety of kimchi side orders. The quality of the the food is very high. The service is prompt, friendly and courteous. One my favorite restaurants for mushroom sunduboo.
Excellent quality food and great service! They owners are very welcoming, great with kids, and make you feel at home. The dining room is also like eating at a Parisian street cafe.
They have the best side dishes and a good variety of them too. The tofu is super soft! The service is always great and there is a free self service ice cream bar.
"This is so good, it's ridiculous" is literally what I uttered to my wife. My wife and I ended up here because I felt like having some spicy tofu soup. Usually I would end up going to our favorite KBBQ AYCE place, but now that my wife doesn't eat much, I feel like it's a waste of money to get AYCE when she doesn't eat all she can. Lo and behold, Soy Tofu pops up. It was really a case of convenience that we ended up at Soy Tofu on a Saturday night around 7pm. Upon entering, we got a pleasant greeting right away and seated right away. I guess it wasn't busy yet. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. I've only been to a tofu house maybe one other time about 10 years ago and it wasn't a good experience. Anyways, onto the food. I ordered a combo beef bulgolgi and beef tofu soup ($20) that comes with rice. The portions, I think are generous since I didn't finish my beef bulgolgi. But the star of the show was the spicy tofu stew. I don't know how to explain the flavors except that it was hearty, spicy and the perfect amount of savory I've been craving for the past week. To be frank, I could've just had the tofu stew ($11) and be good with it. My wife ended up ordering a combo as well with chicken and kimchi tofu soup ($18). To top it off, there is the thrifty ice dessert at the end. Service: A+ / Food:A+ / Parking: A I highly suggest coming here if you're looking for some excellent Korean food.
My favorite place for tofu soup! Ive been to Kaju, bcd, beverlys and this place has the most flavorful tofu soup hands down! They can make it super spicy too! Lots of tofu and toppings. Located in a dinky unassuming plaza next to the market. I always get the tofu combination with galbi. Side dishes are super yummy and the dumplings are also yummy too. Workers are very attentive and will always check up on you. On the way out you can get free ice cream.
Most freshest homemade Soon tofu you will ever find outside of koreatown. The owners are very nice and kind people, exactly who you want to do business with or rather, be served from. During this Covid period, they take all kinds of precautions to keep everyone safe. Cheers.
Best tofu soup in the area. Serving size is almost twice that of BCD. The broth is also much richer in flavor. Amazing selection of delicious and fresh sides!
This is probably the coziest restaurant I have ever been in. I felt so comfortable here enjoying the soup, and was so well taken care of by the staff. The tofu soup was nourishing and delicious.
Fourth time coming here and it never disappoints
Best tofu place I've ever been to! Fast enough service, food served super hot!! It was amazing and the quality of the food was insane.
The food is really tasty with good variety. The owners are great, very friendly. They make me want to see them succeed.
This is one of my favorite tofu places, and they offer baby octopus tofu that BCD doesn't have. 😀 I highly recommend this place for any Tofu menu.
Delicious food, fantastic service and wonderful owner! You must try this place if you are in the area - you will not be disappointed
Love this tofu house! They are a bit different from BCD, but food is great and there are other items to choose from. Closed on Sundays.
A very classy atmosphere. Very tasty side dishes. Would go again many times over.
You absolutely will not be dissatisfied. Best tofu around! The service is unparalleled.
Cozy place. Love the banchan. If you are vegan/vegetarian the mushroom tofu is soooo good.
One of the best korean meals I’ve had in Southern California
Decor was very nice. Friendly and attentive customer service. She is always in eye contact looking to serve. Beef short ribs are very tender. My coworker highly recommend this place. We went on Tuesday night. It was not busy but saw people ordered to go. There are wide variety of food that seems very good. The free ice cream at the end of the meal make everyone very happy.
A little mom and pop shop for Korean tofu. Wife and husband do a spectacular job running the place! Hidden gem! The side dishes are chefs kiss - can’t find some of them like their aloe Vera! Food never disappoints and has a home-y feeling. ☺️
Love their Tofu. The sides are always tasty and fresh. Very nice family owned business and is my “go to”stop for Korean food.
Nice small business restaurant and friendly staff with good service. Delicious soon tofu soup, we got the mushroom and baby octopus. Bulgogi is also good. Banchan (side dishes) are also good and refillable. Rice is cooked in a rice cooker (not stone pot). They offer free/included self-serve ice cream for dessert. Recommend.
This was the best Korean food yet!! The owner Grace was fantastic! Very great customer service, she explained everything, all the food had wonderful flavor, and the environment was pleasant great air conditioning, and the free ice cream at the end was awesome. I will definitely be back!!
Really great dining experience. We were given hand sanitizer as soon as we were seated. There was plenty of room to distance from other customers and the door was kept open for air flow. The food was amazing. We both had Bibimbap bowls. The side dishes were plentiful and the cucumber kimchi was my favorite. I haven’t had any that good since I lived in Korea. The service was also exceptional. I felt Very welcomed. I will definitely be going back at my earliest opportunity.
No other soft tofu soup compares to this restaurant’s—it’s unbelievably silky, bursting with flavor, and perfect any time of year. Their short ribs are absolutely to die for. My husband and I stumbled upon this place on a whim and decided to give it a try. Ever since, it’s become our go-to spot. The servers and chef are not only talented but also incredibly warm and respectful, making every visit a comforting experience, especially after a long day in this charming little gem.
Love the meal set ups, side dishes, and ice cream bar! Not the most inexpensive, but has good value for money if you consider all the things offered. Great lunch and dinner option. Our family dines here once a month or so, and the manager/owner is very friendly.
Great, would come back, has lots of vegetarian options Next time get: Appetizer: ask which pancake is vegetarian the vegetable or kimchi Dayo: Beef and seafood soup extra spicy combo with spicy pork and white rice Mom: Vegetable tofu soup Medium, purple rice Beef and Seafood Tofu with Purple Rice
Highly recommended. The galbi short rib, kimchi pancake, soon tofu (especially the mushroom broth), and the banchan were all delicious. There was even a bonus ice cream, how delightful! The ambiance feels elegant and distinctly European with a chill vibe. Service was great. Will be returning!
I really love this place. From the banchan to the tofu soup, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The fishcake banchan was the best I've had from a restaurant, smoky and savory. I got the intenstine tofu soup and the intestine was cooked just right, cleaned and so tender. Spouse got the seafood hand cut noodles and the broth was wonderful. Cannot recommend this place enough!

A local tofu shop near Buena Park and La Palma. was recommended by friends who said this place was better than bcd and other chain tofu restaurants.. I was quite disappointed by the tofu. It was very bland and didn't have the creamy texture that my friends mentioned. Maybe it was an anomaly.. their side dishes were great especially their spicy cucumbers and seaweed salad. The owner was super kind and the service was great!
Came here on a whim to get Korean food since I was going to the supermarket nearby. The restaurant was quite dark when I came in. There was only one waitress who was servicing the 5 parties that ate there so it was quite a wait to get the side dishes, let alone the food. I ordered the beef tofu soup, and it was quite delicious. The price is comparable to BCD TOFU HOUSE. The taste was good, and you get purple rice so that's a plus. The side dishes were good too except for this gelatinous purple stuff. Overall all, I would come back to this establishment.
My mom loves this place but I think it's just OK. The seafood noodle soup (kal kooksoo) was great, though. The self serve ice cream is very good too.

Always great tofu soup. Owner is super nice.
Good soondooboo spot. Too bad they have only one waiter for the entire restaurant
The food service was very good
Excellent food and great service. Owners are very approachable and involved with the diners. Korean food selection is concentrated but each dish is well prepared and made.
Because my manboobs aren't plump & supple enough...... Soy Tofu, purveyor of fine phytoestrogens, offering authentic Korean cuisine in La Palma. Date Spot Alert! Date Spot Alert! What I first noticed when I walked in was the ambiance. Chandeliers, street lamps & smooth jazz create an intimate dining atmosphere. I almost thought I was at a French bistro. I decided upon the Seafood soondubu, w/ clams, shrimp & oysters ($9). Heat Level:Spicy. Bubbling hot & awaiting to be lovingly caressed by my tastebuds, the soondubu was thick, spicy and soothing to my soul. It looks small but is quite filling. Spicy was just right for me because sweat was pouring down my head. Eating & detoxifying at the same time, score! The unlimited banchan selections were good, with me availing myself of an extra helping or five. Diners have the option of white or purple rice with their entrees, which is a plus! I've only had purple rice a few times before, so I couldn't pass up another opportunity to have it. For dessert.......a burger! A gummy mini burger came with the check. I would've preferred some free ice cream like some other local soondubu places I've been to, but that didn't stop me from enjoying my burger. Can I get it protein-style next time ;p Service was great. I was asked if I wanted & was given more banchan during my meal. I also channeled my inner Clumsy Smurf and spilled my water. The attendant didn't bat an eyelash at my lack of dexterity. Parking is in shared private lot at the Super 1 Mart market plaza. Soy Tofu is on the right of Super 1 Mart & behind La Capilla if you're driving down La Palma Ave. I really enjoyed my first visit to Soy Tofu. The delicious food, friendly service & chill vibe make it a great place to eat with your friends, family and/or significant other. I can't wait to come back and have a go at the rest of the menu. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM
Service was excetional. Flavours for tofu soup were just ok. I eat it alot and i would not rank them tops. Thier seafood pancake however was great!
Okay tofu soup, stands below other places though
Expensive. $15 steaming bowl of Soon dubu, $20 bowl of boiled Bulgogi soup, it is sweet. Strange soup. Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) $15.00 $32 for a plate of short ribs. It's okay but not going back. L & L has these items that is way tastier minus the tofu soup which you can buy at the Hannam supermarket for 1/2 the price.
Had the tofu seafood. The tofu was soft, soup flavorful, but the seafood portions were inadequate for the price. Banchans were plenty and delicious. Service wasn't too friendly. Felt rushed even thou we were the only party and another couples. The waitress was not attentive. Definitely need some improvements.

This is a review of our experience on 9/12/25 Friday Reason for 1 star: Disrespectful, Unprofessional, Hair in food We really wanted to like this place, but our recent experience was so frustrating and disappointing that we will never return. My husband stopped by on his way home to place an order in person since we couldn’t get through on the phone. Once there, he learned their phone and internet were down, which explained why. That part we understood. He placed the order and was asked to pay via Venmo. He confirmed the recipient with the owner and sent the money, but she didn’t seem to know how to check her Venmo app. As she fumbled with her phone, the food came out, but instead of finishing the payment check, she rushed over to help a new group of customers — leaving my husband standing there while the food sat on the counter. After another 5–10 minutes, a worker asked if they could hand him the food, and the owner actually yelled, “No, don’t give him the food! I need to check Venmo!” Even after he showed both the Venmo confirmation screen and email receipt, she insisted she hadn’t received it. Finally — more than 30 minutes after ordering — she suddenly said, “Oh, we got it!” and let him leave. By that point, my husband was so upset and frustrated with how poorly it was handled. To make matters worse, when I opened my beef intestine soup at home, I found a hair in it. That was the final straw. Between the lack of basic payment knowledge, the way the owner abandoned the transaction mid-check, the unnecessary delay, and the hygiene issue, this was an awful experience from start to finish. We tried to be patient and understanding, but left feeling disrespected and let down. Definitely not somewhere we’ll return.
