Mulberry Restaurant is a popular spot known for its elevated Korean cuisine with unique twists and a French bistro vibe. Customers rave about the pork short ribs, steak tartare, and kimchi pancake. The ambiance is welcoming, making it suitable for various occasions.
Tip: Make a reservation in advance, as the restaurant is very popular. Consider ordering multiple dishes to share, as the portions are not large.

Make sure to get a resy as this spot is hard to get into. Decor and vibe is on point. The outdoor patio is covered right now, but I’m sure it will be open air in the summer. Food was so good and flavorful. Highlights were the short rib, stir fry hen of the woods mushrooms, and steak tartare. The bluefin tuna was so fresh as well and a good sized portion of tuna. Only critique was service time. We had a 6pm resy and didn’t finish until 8:30. Seemed like a long delay between each course (more so than just a usual coursing). However, the servers were super friendly.
Had such a great experience here. It’s a modern take on Korean cuisine, but never so “out there” that it loses its authenticity. The acorn noodles and the short rib were definite highlights—the noodles had that satisfying chewy bit to it with a burst of flavor, the short rib was so good we ended up ordering a second round. Also loved their non alch cocktails - the rice slushie and plum soda both hit. Vibes were great and had a bit of that cozy New York energy, and the service was wonderful on top of it all. Can’t wait to come back!
Highly recommend to make a reservation. It is worth of all the hypes. The foods were so delicious. Not many items on the menu but they were all good. The portion is not big so recommend to try many things and share. Very similar Korean bistro concept like Dandi, in the downtown. Glad that we have this in west LA and want to see more restaurants like this open in west LA in the future.
The Mulberry is terrific and exactly what this neighborhood needs. Charming, cozy, with AMAZING cocktails and elevated Korean dishes. They’ve only been open a week and we’ve already gone twice. Some highlights: Drinks: Super interesting cocktails with unexpected flavor combinations. Plus, the sidecars that come with the martini and Manhattan are such a great touch. Food: The short rib is absolutely outstanding, a great cut of meat, cooked to perfection, simple and delicious. The Caesar has an amazing dressing with a fun Korean twist. The kimchi pancake is excellent. We also loved the dumplings and the steak tartare (served almost like a bibimbap), which was incredible. Definitely recommend this spot.
🍴MENU🍴 ✔️Steak Tartare in a stone pot $26 ✔️Soy Marinade of blue pawn $20 ✔️Korean Peer Sorbet $9 1. We visited on a Saturday evening, and it’s clearly a very popular restaurant—you’ll either have to wait or come back later if you don’t have a reservation. I felt that every dish was thoughtfully curated with a refined Korean palate in mind. All the dishes captured the essence of Korean flavors, but we specifically chose items featuring raw shrimp and raw beef something you can’t easily find in the U.S. Even as Koreans, these were dishes we usually only enjoy back home, so we went in with high expectations—and the food far exceeded them. The interior was beautifully designed with traditional Korean elements like exposed wooden beams, traditional-style windows, and details that really showcased Korean aesthetics. The overall vibe felt like a mix between trendy Seochon and upscale Cheongdam in Seoul—an incredibly stylish atmosphere that’s hard to find in LA. It’s definitely a place we’ll be visiting often. 2. ✔️Steak Tartare in a stone pot The beef was exceptionally fresh, and the subtle umami from the sauce was fantastic. We loved the “nurungji moment” at the end of the hot stone pot rice, and the nabak kimchi served alongside was delicious. ✔️Soy Marinade of blue pawn The marinated raw shrimp had zero fishy taste, and despite the rainy weather, the gim and gamtae were still perfectly crisp. The barley rice had a great chew, and the salted seafood on top wasn’t overly salty and paired wonderfully. ✔️Korean Peer Sorbet The sorbet was a delightful surprise—the walnut and a hint of salt on top blended beautifully with the lemon olive oil and pear flavors underneath. 🍷 The wine was also far better than expected, and even when ordering a single glass, they poured nearly one and a half, which felt like such a great deal. 🫶🏻 This is hands down one of the best restaurants in LA, and we plan to visit as much as possible before it becomes even more popular. Highly, highly recommend!
The place is well designed. The menu has enough variety but not overwhelming. Recommend the steak dish, the tuna salad but no dish we ordered was a miss. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Food here is really good and it’s such a great addition to the area. The acorn noodles and the charcoal grilled items in particular were fantastic. Beautiful interior perfect for a date night or friends night out. Can’t wait to return
A French bistro with a Korean soul — and I’m obsessed. 💫 From the steak tartare served sizzling in a stone pot to the perfectly crisp kimchi pancake and golden fried chicken wings, every bite hit home (and yes, as a Korean, the flavors are spot on). Finally, incredible Korean in West LA — elegant, authentic, and absolutely worth the hype.
What a chic and delicious gem to arrive on the west side! The Mulberry is what we’ve been waiting for — authentic Korean flavors, elevated with unique twists and refined ingredients. The environment is sexy enough for date night, yet effortless enough for a family gathering. Highly recommend!!
Great addition to the Sawtelle food scene! Very good and cozy Korean food in a speakeasy like setting.

Great addition to the Sawtelle food scene! Very good and cozy Korean food in a speakeasy like setting.
A welcome addition to Sawtelle, which was already the most interesting street in Los Angeles, The Mulberry served the best short ribs I have ever had. Other highlights: - White Negroni cocktail - Cold Acorn Noodles
Amazing crispy wings, beef short ribs and steamed dumplings! Ambience just right not too formal not too casual! Chic yet cozy spot! Music was also incredible!
5 stars! The food is fantastic, the drinks are amazing. And if you’re lucky you might be able to sing karaoke into the night!
Had an amazing experience at The Mulberry. You can tell everyone working here is very knowledgeable about food and passionate. The service is amazing, the food is great, and the atmosphere is lovely. Will definitely be back.
Had a really lovely experience beginning to end! Service was great, food was great and every dessert is worth ordering! Will be returning
An incredible dining experience. Highly unique and creative while maintaining substantial portions, protein and classic flavors.
Such a cute spot! Beautiful, modern interpretations of Korean cuisine.
This place is amazing and it’s unassuming and super comfortable yet super chic vibe. The food is phenomenal.
The pancakes were amazing -- both the kimchi pancakes and the dessert pancake!
Some of the best Korean food I’ve ever had.
Incredible experience and food! Definitely will be back all the time!!!
10 out of 10.
One of our favorite restaurants we experienced this year. My fiance and I came here to celebrate our recent engagement. The staff took really good care of us! The standout dish that surprised us was the Acorn noodles, we also got the Short Rib, Aguachile, Ceaser Salad and Wings which all were great! The atmosphere was super cozy and definitely more low-key which we loved. We'll definitely be back!
Perfect match of food and ambiance. Westside finally has a full bar elevated Korean food experience. Vibe is for groups and couples that want to have fun - drinks are on point and food is a match. This will be a go to place for many.
Finally! An elevated Korean restaurant on the Westside that actually delivers on both flavor and ambiance. Missing from the Westside is an elegant Korean restaurant where you can take friends, impress clients, or bring out-of-town guests and know they’ll love and appreciate the food and experience. My favorites on the menu: The beef short rib is unbelievably tender. You’ll want to order at least two for the table b/c everyone should taste this dish. The bluefin tuna with trout roe is authentic in its delivery of the Korean classic seafood rice bowl: Hwedupbop. The Korean aguachile is bright and refreshing. The fried chicken wings are crisp, flavorful, and addicting. And then there’s the wagyu burger—something you don’t expect to see on a Korean menu, but absolutely shouldn’t miss. I hear it almost didn’t make the menu cut, but please don’t go away Wagyu Burger. You belong! Lastly, the full bar and the energetic vibe it brings in is fun. Yummy cocktails and Korean fusion concoctions make for a lively and delicious place we have now added to our weekly restaurant rotation.
One of the best Meals and service I've had in a long time. Can't imagine why anyone would give it less than 5 stars.
Food and service was amazing!
Holy moly. It’s just what you want. Crazy delicious. Incredible service. Why can’t more restaurants be like this?!
We put our name in on a Friday around 8:45pm for two - got off the waitlist around 25 minutes later! Exceptionally good service, quality of ingredients, and portion size / presentation. Really great buzz in there for a Friday night out! Amazing addition to the neighborhood.
We had a wonderful time at the Mulberry! The ambiance is very welcoming, and has a nice retro bistrot feeling. Service was very nice, servers were knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. The pork dumplings and the silken tofu strew are amazing. Don’t miss out!! We will definitely come back and bring our friends.
I brought my family here to check out the new restaurant in town. I was not disappointed. Very relaxed atmosphere, the service was excellent, and the food was amazing. Not sure of the name but the cinnamon ginger rice slushie was delicious. You can also have it with alcohol. There's a full bar with a wide variety a unique cocktails. A few drinks and a new karaoke system that's going in will make for great party events.
Always weary of Asian fusion, but Mulberry hits it out of the park. Ordered 9 dishes and every single one was good. Highlights were the pork short ribs (blew our minds), steak tartare bowl, and kimchi pancake (yes). Vibes are on the fancier side while prices stayed grounded. Awesome to have this option on Sawtelle.
Lovely interiors/design, Coby was an amazing server, the drinks were so delicious and well made and the food was also all so yummy. I’m so happy to have this place in Sawtelle, can’t wait to go back! Had such a good time for my friends bday!
The food, service, and vibes were all 10/10! Personal favorite dishes were the wings, short rib, and steak tartare, and beef short rib. Also their teas are sneaky good!
Just curious — how does anyone actually get into this place? Do they only invite influencers? I haven’t been able to get a reservation, and I’ve tried to walk in three times. Each time they tell me they’re fully booked, even though half the restaurant is empty. They open at 5:30, and when I walked in at 5:40 the waitlist was already 2 hours and 30 minutes(yes they only open 3hrs) Are they trying to be Michelin or smth? I don’t mind waiting, but never received a call back after you actually joined the waitlist is a problem.
The food is insanely good. I was so impressed. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. We just had the best time. Such a fun wine list too. 10/10
As a sawtelle local I have been dying to try The Mulberry and it did not disappoint. The owner was incredibly kind and clearly very passionate about the business and his patrons. The staff was absolutely incredible. And the food felt like a beautiful new invention of Sawtelles beautiful culture. The highlights for me were the Steam Tofu Stew and the cheesecake it a MUST. Apparently the cheesecake is a collab with the French laundry chef?! Highly highly recommend and cannot wait to visit again!
This is the best restaurant in LA and genuinely some of the best Korean food I’ve ever had! It is authentically Korean but elevated without being stuffy & obnoxious. And the portion sizes are great! Service was excellent. The owners were incredibly warm and really give the restaurant a local vibe. And the wine list prices are unbeatable!! Never seen value like that in a wine list before.
Wow. The vibe here is absolutely incredible — one of those rare places where the atmosphere, service, and energy all come together perfectly. And the food matches that level in every way. I don’t usually rave, but this spot is truly on another level. The wagyu bibimbap was out of this world — rich, tender, perfectly seasoned — genuinely one of the best versions I’ve ever had. The fish dish was equally phenomenal, cooked flawlessly and packed with flavor. Every bite felt intentional. And the wines... shockingly good value for the quality. You can tell they put real thought into their list — interesting selections, great pairings, and very fair pricing. Overall, just an amazing experience across the board. Already excited to come back.

Struggling to even make the reservation, it felt so satisfying finally able to try The Mulberry! We’ve been so intrigued knowing they’re serving Korean fusion dishes. Still on soft opening, the menu selection was indeed bit limited but still decent list to choose from. The venue itself was more into classic elegant theme with covered patio by the side. Smaller group certainly worked better here knowing how new it’s and obviously everyone’s racing to try so it’s busy even on weekdays. We had our reservation and still had to wait for roughly 10 minutes past our reservation time before we got seated. The server was fortunately friendly and accommodating. Just heads up, they’re no-tipping policy but you’d be directly charged 18% on the bill. We tried their popular beef ribs along with souffle egg and got extra veggies and rice on the side just like how you typically went for kbbq (we knew this wasn’t exactly same but don’t judge us! LOL). The souffle egg was honestly okay to skip, nothing in particular to highlight and price was certainly steep for what you got. The ribs were must-try though, just like what everyone’s raving about. It’s balanced between lean meat and fat, cooked medium, serving tender and succulent beef slices that the picture didn’t justify. Enjoying it with the salad side was surely perfect pairing. If you’re into alcohol pairing and wanna go more Korean themed, you could try their soju and makgeolli selections. We went for their Sang Makgeolli, which was indeed lighter than typical Korean one, but satisfying enough.
I’ve been conflicted about how to approach this review, because my experience at this restaurant was layered — a mix of thoughtful concept, beautiful space, operational kinks, uneven execution, and complicated feelings about the neighborhood itself. First, the positives: it is a genuinely beautiful restaurant with a clear vision. The ambiance is warm and intentional, and as someone who lives in the neighborhood, I appreciate having a place like this within walking distance. The concept has promise, and I wanted to love it. After trying nearly 70% of the menu in one visit, though, I walked away feeling like the restaurant still needs to build a stronger backbone in both operations and the menu itself. Operations & Waitlist Experience We arrived right when they opened on a Sunday and were told the walk-in wait would be around an hour. No problem. But the automated system later updated our wait time to 1 hour and 45 minutes. Not the end of the world, but definitely a sign they’re still working out some kinks. For a place that seems fully open (not soft-opening), these inconsistencies stood out. Even Google still lists their closing time as 8:30 PM, while staff said they now operate until 10:30 PM. Menu Structure & Limitations We were a party of three and ordered two of the set menus. The set menus only allow items from “Small Plates” and “Mains” — nothing from Starters or the Charcoal Grill. Unfortunately, the fried chicken (listed under Small Plates) wasn’t available as a set-menu option that night and could only be ordered à la carte. It’s a small thing, but it contributed to the sense that the menu rules feel a bit arbitrary. Food Quality & Overall Palate I read many reviews beforehand, including Infatuation LA’s praise of the black cod, but I found it surprisingly unremarkable. Across the board, the dishes leaned heavily toward soft textures, which made the meal feel one-note. Because of that, the charcoal-grilled short rib ended up being the standout — beautifully marinated, well-seasoned, tender, and fairly priced. It had dimension and texture in a way the other dishes didn’t. We tried ordering all three starters, but they were already out of the raw marinated shrimp by 7 PM. At $22 for three shrimp, even if it had been available, the value feels questionable. You can get far more — with sides — at places like Master Ha for around $10. The bibimbap didn’t feel particularly special, the tofu stew was serviceable but forgettable, and the mandu was enjoyable but honestly comparable to what you can get from a good-quality frozen H Mart option. A lot of what’s offered here is nothing new of what’s already offered on Sawtelle but for a higher price which quality and quantity wise does not par up to its contenders in the neighborhood. Bigger Picture: Speaking of the Neighborhood… This part is harder to articulate, but it’s important. It’s bittersweet to see fewer Japanese American–owned businesses retaining a presence in what was once known as Little Osaka or Little Japantown. While I don’t blame any individual business for the shifting landscape, it does layer a feeling of sadness onto the experience. The food and concept alone don’t fill the space left behind (not necessarily literal here … I know it was Plan Check that previously occupied the space - but with Plan Check and some of the newer apartment complexes on the street, a lot of Japanese American nurseries closed down. Now there’s only two.) Overall It’s a beautiful restaurant with a lot of potential, and I genuinely hope they refine the menu and operations over time. Right now, though, the experience feels uneven — thoughtful but soft in execution, both literally and figuratively. I’d recommend visiting with an eye toward choosing dishes with varied textures, and with some patience for the operational learning curve.

Eh, food was a miss all around and we tried everything.
still deciding what i like
I’ll be honest and say that the food is mediocre at best. The beef short rib was good but everything else that we had was alright (for the price). I think you’re paying for the ambiance and the concept than delicious, high quality dishes. I’m glad I was able to snag a reservation but it’s not worth waiting in line for.
we made a reservation for three people, weeks in advance for the dining area. However, on arrival, we were told that we were to be seated in the patio. We explained that we prefer the dining area as we had booked (proven by our booking email from resy). when we tried to express our preference, we were cut off by the host telling us the patio is warmer anyways and led to a very small table in the patio, which would be impractical for three esp with korean food/side dishes. eventually we had to ask for two tables to be combined but overall it was a strange experience that colored our entire experience at the restaurant. overall: food was okay. would def recommend the marinated prawns and any of the drinks but otherwise pretty much the average korean fare for higher prices.

I visitet around 9 PM on a weekday without a reservation. I didn’t have to wait long — just 10-15 minutes — but ended up sitting outside in 8°C weather, which was freezing despite the heater. To top it off, the candle on the table wasn’t even lit. The food was decent, typical Korean fare — nothing fancy, but good. It’s a nice spot for a date if you’re not in a rush. I don’t mind the long wait or the 18% service charge, but it felt a bit off for what you get. They could’ve done a better job of letting us in advance. The staff wasn’t very attentive either, which was disappointing. Overall, good food, but the cold, long wait, unlit candle, and service could be better. I wouldn’t come back.
as a korean, i have to leave a stricter review for a “fancy” gentrified korean place that’s definitely geared towards non-asians. first things first, we ordered 5 things and 4 out of those 5 things were ALL salty. the kimchi pancake was barely tart with kimchi flavor barely being there, and it was over-seasoned with salt. the soy sauce rice pancakes with mushrooms were the saltiest, with a bitter aftertaste. the fried chicken was super crispy and texture was great, but also lacking flavor with too much salt in the batter. the only amazing thing was the short rib, other than that you could get the same things here in ktown for better price, larger quantity, and better quality. overall, the price is not worth it.
We were excited to get a reservation a few weeks in advance. Sadly, the experience was pretty disappointing. We arrived early and were seated outside despite the reservation being booked for the dining room. Every table was already full so...poor organization...? The kitchen was pretty slow. It took roughly 50 minutes for the chilled acorn noodles to be served. There's no protein so I am unsure of the long wait time for this one. We did enjoy the toasted nori and the sauce that was paired with it. The wings were okay. Two inconsistent orders. One order had an awfully high batter to meat ratio. Nice crunch though. Three beef short ribs were ordered but they were inconsistent, again. One was cooked right. My pieces were tough to bite into but had a good and flavorful center. The other couple had tough and chewy pieces throughout. The chili pepper sauce Laoganma was good. The other sauce...not for me. It was like dipping my meat in simple syrup. The beef tartar was... pretty oily/fatty. I don't think the yolk is needed. Before mixing, I tried a piece of the meat. It was unseasoned...? Idk the point of a tartar if the bowl was purposed to cook the meat but ok. We did like the crispiness of the rice. The service was not the greatest but it could have been due to being seated outside at the table furthest from the door. We're pretty sure the server forgot about our pear sorbets (it comes with each tasting set) because he asked us if we wanted any dessert. Overall. Eh. The food is definitely heavily leaning more on the American side instead of Korean. There needs to be more staffing/training since when they know how many reservations they have. This is one of the few restaurants where we wish we could tip less than the service fee.
We were excited to get a reservation a few weeks in advance. Sadly, the experience was pretty disappointing. I came in with a reservation, sat down, and things immediately went downhill. It took a long time just to get the appetizers. The dumplings were just okay nothing special and the kimchi pancakes were honestly terrible. They didn’t taste fresh at all. We still hoped the mains would redeem things, but that’s where it completely fell apart. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, and when it finally came out, they only brought my entrée (the chicken noodles). It was just okay. Meanwhile, my boyfriend sat there eating nothing but fries while I finished my meal. His actual main dish didn’t show up until 13 minutes later. The burger itself was good, but at that point the whole experience had already ruined our date. To top it all off, they automatically added an 18% tip. We live right around the corner and will definitely not be coming back

We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant and called around 7pm to place a takeout order. Unfortunately, we were told the chef decided he didn’t want to do takeout that evening. It was surprising, especially during normal dinner hours. We completely understand if a restaurant stops takeout for operational reasons, but it would be helpful to communicate that clearly or have consistent policies in place. We were excited to try the food, but this experience was disappointing.
