I saw this place from the other side of the street and knew I had to take a peek. Sure enough, inside was a pastry of such exquisite deliciousness that I can't adequately describe just how good it is. It's called Tropezienne and if you've never had it, you deserve to try it, or any other of their selection of exquisite treats.
This is one of my favorite places to have breakfast in Laguna Beach. Everything they serve is amazing. Today we went with French Toast and Quiche Lorraine and they were both delicious. The Mocha and the Cappuccino were equally tasty. In addition to breakfast they have lunch and a wide assortment of desserts. Do yourself a favor and visit this place. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
So let me tell you the food here is a really good delicious we like the chicken Panini sandwich with pesto was amazing the croissants was really good the Madeline’s were amazing as well the coffee was really good and nice and strong they have fresh squeezed orange juice and they have a lot of fresh and great looking pastries it’s a must stop by if you’re in Laguna Beach. The only thing I can recommend management it’s just maybe to put someone more inviting person in the front to kind of explain to you the menu and just because not everybody that goes into this restaurant has been there before and we don’t all live in Laguna Beach but I think that would be just the only recommendation everything else was really good the food came out fast and like I said I loved everything else about the location and there is outdoor seating so you could sit outside there’s a couple of locations with outdoor seating. The block is close to Traffic and passing cars And is decorated with great fall decorations.
After finishing an extensive hike to get to 'The Top of the World'- we were in dire need of some fuel. Just off of the South Coast Highway you’ll find a little slice of France. 1 of their 5 locations is located right in the sunny side of Laguna, and that’s where I met the relaxing beach breeze with some major flavors delivered by "Moulin". As soon as you walk in, you’re immediately going to feel like you've been transported to a classic French café. With every detail of the décor and the huge wall of novelty snacks and wines, you'll hit with the aroma of fresh heavenly bread. This mixed with the sweet smell of grease that's coming straight from the kitchen. You know something good is cooking back there as you wait in line only to be staring at the plates of other customers and the array of desserts and sandwiches in the display case. Paté Sandwich - ($10.00) - YES!! Paté for breakfast because why not! Let’s start with the bread though, this baguette was nothing short of amazing. From the crunch and chew of each bite you’re taking, to the bounce the inner interior; now that’s some good bread texture. Paté with pickles and mustard was definitely a first for us, and I’m so happy we did it. The pate was just salty enough to mix with the sour and sweet mixtures that bounced off the pickles and mustard. 10/10 would order again. Hazelnut Choux - ($6.00) - Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Fluffy, airy, sweet and subtle. Everything crammed into a mini delicate looking piece of art. There was no regrets devouring this at 9am for us. Must try!!
One of my favorite places especially for breakfast or brunch. The pastries and latte are excellent especially the tropezienne. The sandwiches are tasty but I think the best time to eat them are in the morning when it’s fresher. Live the French music and atmosphere too. Their croque madame is also really good but filling
Great location with fresh pastry and sandwiches. I like this location better than other Moulin location because of the high traffic, the turn over of the pastry and sandwich is high thus fresher pastry and food. Other location the sandwich and pastry taste stale. I recommend this location.
The best cafe in Laguna Beach! Having spent much time in France, I can tell you that Moulin is as authentic as it gets. From the bread, pastries, and coffee to the French biscuits, cookies, and jam that they sell, Moulin is a little taste of France in a beautiful part of Laguna Beach. The staff is so friendly and willing to answer any questions you have about their offerings. The outdoor seating is a great addition to the café as well. I couldn’t get enough of this place while visiting Laguna Beach and will definitely be back on future visits!
I was hesitant because it looked so cafe-ish and not a sit down, relax restaurant...but who cares!! The food is amazing....everything is. Don't get an almond croissant and dip it in their hot chocolate, it will ruin you! You'll be coming back for more again and again! The sandwiches are great, crepes are good, tuna sandwich was amazing, Le croquet de madame made my head explode it was so good. Only open for breakfast and lunch, dont hesitate! Run to this place!!
Ruth the Mgr. Is really good and friendly and all the employees have a smile on their face...very helpful..clean...respectful I have been coming to Moulin's laguna over six years..when they opened the doors ...
YUM!!! Delicious sandwiches - I thoroughly enjoyed their sourdough + the ingredients tasted high quality. The freshly squeezed orange juice paired with the La Mangue pastry was nice. & They have a cool grab and go area with French products and wine. Honestly, everything looked really good. It was hard to choose between it all! I also love their location, the outdoor area is cozy and perfect to relax in. Everyone was kind and the ambiance is great 🥖🌊🌴
Moulin is a charming little French bakery and café that we visited twice for breakfast — and overall, it’s a lovely spot to start your day. On our first visit, I had the omelette with pesto and chicken, which was flavorful and filling. My husband had a croissant with an omelette, and he really enjoyed it too. The side salad that came with both meals was surprisingly delicious — the dressing was so fresh and tasty. We also ordered cappuccinos, which were nice, but the real standout was the orange juice — seriously one of the best I’ve had! So sweet. We came back the next day and went a bit more classic — orange juice again (of course), cappuccinos, and a few pastries: an almond croissant, a regular croissant, and a sugar-dusted pastry. They were okay — not as amazing as I hoped, but still decent. I’m still curious to try their desserts — they looked beautiful in the display case. Overall, Moulin is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and craving a little French breakfast vibe. Cozy, stylish, and a nice option for a laid-back morning.
Beautifully decorated place, we tried multiple desserts, and ordered breakfast. Not overly sweet pastries, and a perfect amount of options!
Moulin in Laguna is one of those spots where every visit feels like a mini escape to France, but with a SoCal twist. I have to shout out their Caesar salad—easily one of my favorites anywhere (and if you’re in a rush, it’s a quick to-go). It comes loaded with pine nuts and that herby pesto chicken, which is such a unique touch. It’s fresh, vibrant, and just so satisfying. If you’re even half a Caesar salad snob (like me), this one will totally win you over. The mushroom and chicken egg white omelette is another go-to. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes you feel like you’re making good choices, but it’s still so hearty and packed with flavor. Super light, perfectly cooked, and never greasy—just really well done. And don’t even think about skipping the pastry case. Their almond croissant is genuinely great: flaky, generous with the filling, and not too sweet. Honestly, it’s one of those rare places where you could come just for the croissants and leave happy. The vibe is always buzzing—French café energy with a Laguna crowd, everyone from locals on laptops to tourists grabbing a treat post-beach. Service is fast and friendly, but it never feels rushed. If you haven’t tried Moulin yet, you’re missing out. This is my new Laguna staple.
One of my favorite French cafe I’ve ever had. The staffs there are all French and they communicate in French. I ordered an Opera cake with a mini croissant and a cappuccino. I really enjoyed my breakfast. The cake becomes one of best cakes in my life, so delicious! The mini croissant is yummy as well. Coffee also works great. I highly recommend this cute French cafe.
For something quick and easy, this is the place for me. I love Laguna beach ever since I can remember coming to Laguna. Having this French bistro bakery in Laguna is just fabulous. One day when I come back to California, I’ll go back to the hills, arch beach heights. I love Moulin, thank you for your delicious decadence.
It’s 8:55 AM on a Friday, and I want to share my ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ experience at Moulin after visiting for several years. I’m mentioning the time so the manager knows exactly which associate I’m referring to—a very polite, and I assume, new team member. He’s a tall brunette gentleman with a bit of a beard, and he was an absolute pleasure to interact with first thing in the morning. His chic and welcoming attitude truly stood out! While the service here is usually neutral, this experience felt exceptionally warm and different. Please extend my gratitude to him from a guest who truly appreciates the way she is treated.
Love this French bakery. Their brunch menus are good enough but the croissant is very delicious!
My absolute favorite place in Laguna Beach! I absolutely love the cappuccinos, lattes, and French sodas. There is plenty of champagne for the bubble lovers. The selection of food, sweet treats, and artisanal breads is unending!
A lovely French bakery with pretty and tasty cakes. The mousse cake was light, not too sweet, and melted in the mouth right away.
This - BOULANGERIE-PÁTISSERIE-CAFÉ is the closest one I’ve found here in CA to the experience of French flavors. The food, the pastries, the design the atmosphere, really très très bien!!!
Everything was wonderful, service was great. Quick visit, we went around 2:15pm on a Saturday and they close at 3pm, so just in time. But it was the perfect timing, no crowds, no long wait, got a table and could just enjoy the food and the moment! Lovely to have such a top notch place and it fits perfectly in Laguna!
Lovely and warm interior with a lot of details, yet gives you an impression of pure simplicity. First of all, espresso is excellent, so is the Sportif bread...they come along perfectly by my taste. Pear and almond tart is really tasty, as well as all the pastry there is. I haven't tried other cakes...yet...but I will be back for more, that is for sure! Feels more like Nice than Paris honestly, I don't see why people mix those two ;)
Cute little pastry shop that has a huge selection tucked away into fabulous showcases! As tourists, we were pleasantly surprised to find a French pastry shop, but are so glad we stopped for coffee and pastry. Yum!
I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of Moulin in Newport Beach. Located on the main shopping street, this spot provides for very fine french pastries and good coffee.

Overall had a great experience. The food is super yummy and the menu has something for everybody. However I gave it 4 stars because the staff was not friendly and Moulin is not very accommodating with allergies. Their is also no parking and if you do find parking you will have to pay.
Their ham sandwich was hard to eat cause the bread was really tough. So had a hard time biting into it, but the croissant sandwich is good and their pastries / orange juice. Still a cute spot.
Loved the vibes in this one. They closed down the street and have tents and patios for outdoor dining. I ordered the lemon crepe, not the best I’ve had it was kind of like eating a quesadilla. My friend ordered the strawberry one and it was kind of mushy as well. But I still think it’s a cute area to be around even if you order to go the beach is just up the street you can take your food and have a beach pic nic.

The cakes were really good, but the sandwiches had stale bread — it wasn’t fresh at all
Good cozy place, although the food is not really as French as you’d expect
Would have given this a 4 star if I did not find moldy raspberries in my meal, which was really disappointing. My friend did not enjoy her Latte and did not finish it although I liked my Cappuccino. Otherwise, the food and pastries are very good. Just wish they took more care of what they were serving. Also, weird that they don’t offer bananas or strawberries with their crepes.
Part of the Moulin chain that is growing. This one is smaller and has less choices than the Newport Beach one. Disappointing on choices and quality. The croissant aux amandes was too sweet and the frangipane didn't see correct. I am afraid that quantity is taking over quality. I will give them another chance... Otherwise the restrooms are funny. Beware that you have the right to a maximum 5 minutes in there!
Great ambiance and fair food options. The desserts could be more fresh or warmed up, but there are plenty of options to choose. The breakfast is good and can be shared for two. Overall, the atmosphere is real nice and a good place to relax or have a drink. I give it three stars because the places nearby have a bit more to offer.

This place isn’t nearly as good as it looks. First, they serve French coffee in American paper cups, which already takes away from the experience. On top of that, the waiter messed up the order and only partially fulfilled it. Overall, it doesn’t feel like a French café at all—more like a fast-food spot trying to look upscale.

First time going to this place and went there for the crepe. No menu for the crepe so we just assumed they only make one kind of crepe. When we reach the counter, they told us that was the last crepe of the day so we just ordered 3 PASSION FRUIT ICED TEA. Found out they were just gonna give us 1 TEA and so we told them we ordered more than one tea. The lady preparing the order, said "oh you ordered 2" and we told her WE ORDERED 3. Also found out they just gave us REGULAR ICED TEA. This place suc.
I cancelled an Uber Eats order from here seconds after the order was submitted, yet the store charged me for the order and refused a refund. I could understand that if a restaurant begins preparing food upon an order, but all the sandwiches here are prepared already. Why am I being charged for something made prior to my order? Just slimy business practices. Plus, the sandwiches I had from here in the past were dry with limited toppings, and antagonistic staff. Won’t be supporting again.
Management and customer service here is the worst. They only have one young lady working in the front. I went in wanting nothing but a piece of French baguette and eggs. The person taking the order said that was impossible. She said I had to order the omelet and it came with a piece of baguette. When they finally brought the order it was scrambled eggs and a piece of regular toast. When I informed them that they had given me the wrong bread instead of just bringing me the correct bread they told me I had to pay an addition $10. The manager Emma was very rude. She did not apologize or acknowledge that it was their mistake. I paid the additional $10. She then purposely did not bring the bread till my food was already cold and nasty. At that point I did not want any of the food and sent the bread back without asking for the money back. Finally, when I was leaving one of the waitress pulled me to the side and said this is a French Bakery and this is how they operate and that she wouldn’t come back if she was me.
