Found this pretty much by accident. It turned out to be less than a block from the hotel (VOCO, also a great find) at which we stayed over Valentine’s Day weekend. The food, service, and atmosphere at Romano Cucina was a perfect storm. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.
I absolutely love this Italian restaurant for so many reasons. Their options on the menu, the quality of food, and the customer service is unmatched! I love dining in when I can because it’s cute and cozy, but my family, friends and I also love ordering takeout too. And, catering from here is also a phenomenal experience! The portions are on the larger side, and they have weekly specials Tuesday - Thursday for dine in! Their cocktails are also great, and im especially excited about their new addition of Skrewball peanut butter whiskey to the bar!!! The best food menu items in my opinion are: Appetizers: mushrooms, eggplant parmigiana Salad: house salad and caprese (their tomatoes exclude the gooey insides & seeds which make the caprese even more delicious) Entrees: litaliano pizza, spicy Rosa with chicken pasta, pasta tombrello, pasta Gianni, ala checca with Bianco Diavolo & chicken, chicken Marsala (off the menu) Dessert: cannoli, cheesecake, tiramisu Thank you to the Romano Cucina team, I’ve been a loyal customer for over 10 years now!!!
This is my fourth time eating at Romano Cucina, and it never disappoints! I ordered the shrimp scampi and a margarita, and both were outstanding. The pasta was delicious—full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The margarita was refreshing and one of the best I’ve had. The atmosphere and service are always consistently great. I’ll definitely be returning again
Cozy Italian vibe Super nice staff and tasty food We tried the pesto pasta and the eggplant pasta, There’s an additional $ for the protein I do recommend.
Love this place. Very cozy and comfortable. They have the best Martini selection. Thursday night martini night is the best deal. Very popular. Come early at 5 when they open cause they are always busy. Food is delicious. Their seafood pasta selection is awesome. The staff are attentive and courteous. Great place for a good meal and drink.
Excellent service and foods ! Highly recommend their Pasta Gianni and meatballs pasta, generous servings of fresh ingredients. Taste, saltiness, doneness of pasta are all on point. We had the honour of being served by the young owner who gave us good recommendations ! 👍🏻
The best seafood I ate in all California. The portions are huge, the food is really tasty, the serving is super fast and the ladys are really nice! We stayed outside , so we enjoyed a quite dinner. We had to wait 15-20 minutes , but be patient, it’s worth it !
Great Italian restaurant. We absolutely loved pasta. Aglio olio spaghetti is simple, yet classical. So tasty. Also, a simple house salad felt like a full scale dish. Super fresh, crunchy. I strongly recommend trying their house red vine vinegar on the salad. We are definitely coming back here.

By far the best pesto in orange County! Staff is great and friendly! If you are looking for Italian food, this is the place to go! I love the old school Italian Memorabilia and Decor. Daniel is great and always takes care of us.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and everything was well prepared and flavorful. Our whole family had a great time, and the atmosphere made it even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to others.
Haven’t been here for a while but wow this place has a whole new vibe. Amazing food. Like I wanted to order more to go. The service is the best I have ever had. Such lovely kids from college and mission viejo and Laguna hills that rival top notch service. I felt like I was eating with family. Lemon drop martini was delicious. Rosa sauce. Steak milanese. Ravioli special. Spinach and lobster. Felt transported to little Italy in New York. 10/10
This place is a true hidden gem. The owner is a very sweet and kind Mexican lady who runs the place with her two sons who are very kind as well. She always treats everyone with respect and very generous. The food is amazing and the service is incredible. They train their staff very well. The place is always packed and they don’t take reservations so be sure to get there early when they open. By far our favorite restaurant.
Our waiter Rhys, oh my goodness! My husband had to take a call. It went on forever. Did the waiter bug us, NO! He did pay attention, I noticed. Then once my husband was off the phone he took our order. Food delicious of course but then once we had a couple of bits our waiter returned to ask if it was to our satisfaction and if there was anything else we needed. He told us to please ask for a box if we need one and anything else. So refreshing to see that service hasn't died. Bravo Rhys!
I love the atmosphere of the place. Don't let the fact that this is in a South OC strip mall, tucked behind a Weinerschnitzel and next to a Howard's TV store shape your expectations for the dining out experience you'll have at this place. The interior has the ambiance more like a mid-upscale restaurant in San Diego's little Italy, and less like a run-of-the-mill Italian-American joint that spent $1000 at Pier One and then opened its doors. The Spaghetti & Meatballs here is probably the best S&M dish I've ever had in the country. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. The host staff is inviting. Been eating here since '16.

This place was awesome. They were very accommodating by hosting a party of 12 on a Sunday evening. My sausage was a little dull but the rest of the table really enjoyed their food. This was a fantastic place to host a little family get together. Service was great and they made you feel like family.
When I first walk into this dimly light restaurant, I was immediately greeted with a warm smile by the lovely staff up front. My friend and I placed our name down and the wait was about 20 minutes or so. Glancing through the menu, I settled on the pasta Gianni with fettuccine while my friend got the primavera aglio olio with spaghetti. We also got served some bread as appetizers. Our server, Sam was extremely friendly and easygoing, he gave us plenty of suggestions and was very patient. While waiting for our pasta, I had a fun time looking around at the endless picture frames that decorated the walls. The whole ambience of the restaurant was homey and cozy, it felt like dining at your grandma’s house. When our pasta arrived, I was happy to see that the portion size matches the price. Digging into the fettuccine, I loved that the pasta was perfectly cooked to al dente, however, flavor wise, it is on the blander side. There is a tasty spice in the sauce and I liked that there were plenty of shrimp and crawfish but I do wish there was more flavor. Overall, the meal was still quite delicious and I would definitely want to revisit for the cozy vibes and to also try their lasagna.
This restaurant is good for the ambiance and the food is pretty satisfying. The restaurant can get crowded and you may need to call ahead of time to reserve a table. I ordered the pasta tombrello and it was decent but my wife's pesto had more flavor than the meat sauce that was in mine. The calamari was a must order as an appetizer and the bread included was a welcome addition to the carbs consumed throughout the night. If I eat here again, I'll make sure to order the pesto.
Pasta was delicious (I had the gianni with angel hair pasta), and I liked that we got to choose what type of pasta to have with our dish. Very attentive staff; if one person wasn't able to help us, someone else stepped in and made sure we were doing ok. I wasn't a fan of the cannoli with chocolate chips, and the chairs bolted to the floor made it difficult for me to eat at the bar. Otherwise, it was a lovely experience.
Tucked away Laguna Hills, this adorable little Italian restaurant is a delightful find. The interior is absolutely charming, has a warm and inviting ambiance. The food itself was delicious and the service was decent, the staff were friendly, but unfortunately, they weren't offering prosecco :( While the lack of prosecco was a minor disappointment, overall, this is a lovely little spot with good food and a charming atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

This food is amazing! The restaurant is so quaint and cute. The staff was pleasant, the reason for 4 stars was the wait. We went in a Wednesday night, Wine Wednesday! It was busy and we waited over 30 minutes for a table for 2. Wine was 50% off. I had the ravioli special with spinach and chicken in garlic sauce. I ate the whole thing. The salad was also incredible. They had and butter before the meal, can’t wait to go again.

To start off the atmosphere, service are fantastic fun and classic American Italian. Brick walls, family pics all over. Wait staff on point and friendly. But.... The food? Sadly disappointed. Was it a bad night? A one off? Hard to say as we don't live here. Sat night, Nov 22, 2025 wasn't it. Menu selections and pricing very good. Prices much higher in most neighboring restaurants. To start, the Bruschetta was flavored and seasoned well. I've just never had it on 2 inch thick cut soft baguette bread. Was soggy and fell apart when picking it up. The fried calamari flour did not have near enough seasoning and the oil it was fried in tasted very old. Definitely not changed from a busy Friday service. House salad on the side is a nice ol school addition but the house dressing not to my liking. Was not a vinaigrette, more like a very salty dried herb and oil. Personal taste. Enteees: some at our table had the ravioli special, lobster filled with shrimp and sun dried tomato cream sauce. It was good, had nice flavor. Ravioli decent, didn't taste anything lobster flavored in the filling. But that could be due the heavy overpowering sauce. I had a Shrimp Scampi with angel hair. Probably should have asked for Fettuccine but more importantly the "Scampi" sauce was just non-existent. I've never had Scampi with just oil and garlic. No white wine, although the menu stated it, just an oily blob. The shrimp themselves were overcooked, and dry. Very small. 25/30s maybe? Not a bad quality, had a nice shrimp flavor. Presentation was just awful. Big blob of pasta in the middle tossed with oil and shrimp (8) scattered around the edges. Funny thing is every pasta dish i saw was soupy with sauce and mine lacked any. Anyways, the community seems to love the place. Recommend some serious attention to details and flavor, as well as QC. Was a very fun place to dine at. Update: looking at someone else's pic of the same shrimp scampi 4 days ago is completely different. Looks delicious! Creamy sauce all throughout. My fault for not sending it back
