Amazing Chinese food! We had the Moo shoo pork, fried wontons, walnut shrimp, lemon chicken, spicy chicken, paper wrapped chicken and Kung pao chicken. But the best of the best was the beef and broccoli !!! This place beats PF Changs hands down!

I am a big fan of this place. I love their Cashew Chicken and once they went out the way for me to make something that was on an old menu. The service has always been wonderful and I could eat there several days a week.

I don't understand a word the employees say, But it doesn't matter because they are polite (They are always smiling, pleasant, and the food is relatively inexpensive and delicious. I call in my order 15 mins before I get there, walk in and it's ready. And they seem to always throw in something extra for free as well

My mom and my niece and me used to go to this place quite often a couple of years ago. But then they got a new cook or something in the food wasn't as good. But we said let's go back there today try it again and now the place is great again The food's great the service is great we love the place highly recommend it.

I’m such a fan of Din Ho. This family owned restaurant consistently serves delicious food and their complete dinner is a nice added value. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered, highlights off the top of my head include: orange chicken, braised tofu (fried), broccoli beef, cream cheese wontons, house salad, hot and sour soup, kung pao chicken. This is the kind of Chinese restaurant I grew up on and I’m so glad they’re located so close to where I live (and now also on Door Dash!).

Moved into this area in 1990. I have dined at Din Ho at least 100 times and I cannot recall ever being disappointed with the food or the service. The food is always freshly prepared, hot and tasty. You cannot go wrong with the House Special Beef, the Honey Walnut Shrimp, or the Barbecued Pork Fried Rice. I also enjoy their Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork, Cashew Chicken and Vegetable Chow Mein. They will supply brown rice (in place of white rice) on request for no extra charge, and we always receive an appetizer of the house soup without asking. Give it a try if you are in the area.

Been coming here for years, absolutely love Din Ho. I’m vegan and I get the green beans (very delicious and garlicky, even better than PF Chang’s) and veggie chow mein. My husband orders fried rice and asks for no soy sauce because he has Celiac’s. He loves it. They make the food really fast, and it is affordable. If you ever dine inside it has a quaint and peaceful atmosphere.

This is a family run restaurant which has been in their family for three generations. The food is excellent and "real" Chinese food. They have many selections. Prices are moderate and portions are large enough to share. They do not serve dessert. There is no MSG in their food. We love it there! They actually know us personally and greet us by name!!

My family has been eating here for almost 30 years. The service is always great and they are very good at making the changes that we request. My favorite is the deluxe fried rice, but they have many dishes that the family and I enjoy.

Simply put, despite how little I get here, what I have gotten (after having gone here multiple times, at least 50 or more, with my family since I was at least 2 or 3 years old) at this amazing Chinese restaurant has overall been nothing short of outstanding. The orange chicken is completely off the chart. The various soups are all total delicacies. The rice is cooked to just the right consistency -- not to hard, not too soft. The drink selection is beyond incredible. Even the appetizer chow mein noodles, when dipped in the right sauces, are transformed into pure awesomeness. The decorative murals that take up entire walls, *real* (in contrast to silk in some other restaurants) houseplants, bright white tablecloths, and off-the-chart plating make up the decor section of the review (which is absolutely outstanding). And, finally, of the countless times I've been here, there wasn't one incident where my family was treated with poor service. Not one! The servers are always friendly, always reliable (I haven't encountered one instance of an order misinterpretation), and always quick to deliver soups, salads, appetizers, and meals. After reading other reviews, I seriously feel somewhat bad for the others who don't feel so fortunate. That doesn't usually happen, and it certainly didn't happen for me one bit. And for those of you "low salt" naysayers: Last I checked, Chinese food (at least Sichuan, along with Thai and other cuisines) is supposed to be sweet and spicy, but NOT salty. And in those areas especially, the restaurant is absolutely outstanding.

There were 8 of us so we did make a reservation. The food was very good. We shared five different menu items. There was more than enough food for all if us! The kitchen brought us one plate of an appetizer out for eight, free! 😊

They had really good orange chicken. We spent a good amount there for more food then we could eat but they kept dropping food on the table saying "on the house". Best Chinese food I have had in a long time. It was pretty awesome to get free food.

Very tasty and excellent value for their lunch plates. For being a little restaurant just next to a grocery store, they sure do a good job of making a quality meal and taking care of their customers. I thought it was pretty busy on a Saturday around 2pm and now I know why!

Been ordering from Din Ho for decades and dined in a handful of times. We have never had a bad experience. Absolute best place for Chinese food in Lake Forest. 5/5 stars. I love eating here. Every time I have come here, both the service and the food have been phenomenal! I have especially enjoyed the egg flower soup, the orange peel chicken, and the cashew chicken, but everything I have ordered has been delicious. I can't wait to come back here with family and friends and try more dishes. ♡

Encontré este lugar porque está en el mismo centro de envíos que el ortodoncista de mi pequeño. Necesitaba un lugar para cenar mientras mi pequeño estaba en una fiesta previa al Día de Acción de Gracias con amigos del colegio. Desde fuera, es un lugar muy modesto que, si no mirabas, simplemente pasabas por alto. Al entrar, había varios clientes esperando pedidos para llevar. El resto del restaurante estaba medio lleno y no tuvimos que esperar nada para sentarnos. El maître nos consiguió una mesa enseguida y nos sirvió las bebidas inmediatamente. El ambiente es agradable y la auténtica música china que suena sutilmente de fondo crea un ambiente muy agradable y relajado. Las mesas en las que nos sentamos, alineadas con las paredes, eran cómodas, sin resultar apretadas ni demasiado duras. Hay mesas con cuatro sillas en el centro del restaurante con servilletas de lino auténtico. Las obras de arte y los colores también contribuyen a una experiencia agradable y cómoda. Después de unos buenos 10 minutos, regresamos, con tiempo de sobra para revisar el menú y ver qué queríamos. Apenas se fue con nuestro pedido, llegaron la sopa, la mostaza agridulce y las galletas chinas para mojar. Mientras degustábamos los aperitivos con calma, llegaron nuestros platos principales. Los dos platos que pedimos fueron cerdo agridulce y la carne especial de la casa. Lo primero que llama la atención es que no son porciones pequeñas, ni mucho menos. Un plato principal podría alimentar fácilmente a dos personas, y sobró un poco. Como éramos solo mi acompañante y yo, decidimos optar por un menú familiar que nos permitiera probarlo todo. Resultó ser una excelente idea, ya que ambos platos estaban exquisitos. El sabor de ambos fue justo lo que necesitaba. Sabrosos y deliciosos, justo como se espera de la excelente comida china. Un poco de cada uno me dejó con los ojos cerrados y mis glándulas salivales trabajando a tope. Nos tomamos nuestro tiempo y disfrutamos del ambiente y de la fabulosa comida. Fue una experiencia gastronómica excelente y, al final, el precio nos dejó atónitos. Esperaba una cuenta mucho más baja de lo que cabría esperar considerando el ambiente y la comida que acabábamos de disfrutar, y al mirar a mi acompañante, nos echamos a reír, como si hubiera ocurrido un pequeño milagro. Disfruté mucho de su chow mein de pollo. También pedí arroz frito simple, que solo costaba $2.50, sopa de huevo y wontons fritos, que venían con mi almuerzo, y todos estaban deliciosos. Visiting NYC & decided to stop for a meal. My pasta, the Linguine Al Frutti de Mare was excellent & the service was wonderful! For dessert, I had the Pannacotta, and the balsamic vinegar was the perfect balance to the custard. My next visit to NYC I'm definitely coming back! :)

Pretty good place for Chinese food. It's got a bit more of an American taste. The spicy items isn't spicy at all. Personally, I didn't like the soup, but I highly recommend the house special chicken. It's pretty good; juicy and tender!

A regular favorite. Food isn't awesome but it's just right. Atmosphere isn't great, but it's fine. Staff can be a little touchy but for this place that's part of the ambiance. Bottom line, if you want good, stable Chinese food, lunch or dinner, there or takeout, this place will almost certainly not disappoint.

Great Chinese food in Lake Forest try Din Ho. When you first walk in you will notice the simple old, in good condition, furniture. The walls are decorated with artwork craved in to wood. Right of the bat, I feel like home. The host/ waitress that seats you is a sweet older lady. She is not dressed in a fancy Chinese dress and no pandas or cartoons anywhere. This place reminds me of visiting my grandparents restaurant when I was a little kid, back in Oakland. I miss those days... I was seated quickly and was instantly given a tea cup with tea pot and a glass of ice water. That's good service. I would only add chopsticks to the table to make it true Chinese, but this is Lake Forest not Chinatown. Shortly after, a server brings crunchy strings (not sure what they are called) and 3 dipping sauces. The lunch menu is awesome everything is between 5 to 7 dollars. The restaurant is like it is filled with the daily regulars. After taking my order the server yells out the orders in the back in CHINESE!! Holey crap?! Yes in Chinese not English and not Spanish like most so-called Chinese restaurants. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and it came with hot n sour soup, a small salad, egg roll, and won ton. Good stuff! The food will not win any awards, but it is simply Chinese food made correctly. Nothing fancy, Cantonese style meaning not too spicy not to salty, cooked just right. If you are on a budget for lunch, swing by here. Don't rush to a local burger joint. This place will get you in and out fast. You call always get take out if you are in a hurry. The hostess lady noticed that my lunch was $5.50 and not $6.25 so she changed the bill after I already paid with my credit card. That's great customer service and attention to detail. Recommended because sometimes you need some variety if you work in Lake Forest.

The Irvine location is a shared space with multiple food establishments. It is To Go only. The food was good but way too salty. I ordered my food through Too Good To Go so, the price was very reasonable for the amount of food given. Based on the prices I saw, even at regular prices it seems like a petty good value. It looks like this place has a regular restaurant in Lake Forest. I will likely try then again so, yes, I recommend this place.

My husband and I dined here on Labor Day. We were delighted at the size of the lunch meal; and it was delicious! We look forward to going there again. 😀

Not a bad place to get a cheap Chinese lunch. Lunch specials are a great deal, especially if you're ordering the rice dishes. Your lunch will have a hot and sour soup, a salad, an eggroll, and a fried wonton on the side of your order for a really reasonable price of $7-9. There are also some complementary fried crispy noodles on table. Hot and sour soup was not very sour and needed more salt. The salad and eggroll were fine. I didn't like the fried wonton because it was mostly just slightly chewy wonton skin. The mongolian beef is pretty good, but it is on the saltier side. Could have used that salt for my soup!

The good: #103, sizzling rice with chicken, shrimp, scallops ... excellent and enough for 2-3 people; the bad: #304, 8 pan fried dumplings ... $10.95 is way high; the ugly: 35-minute wait time (at 5:15pm). I was about to start chewing the carpet.🤪

The server was absolutely rude and on the racist side... kept calling us, "You Americans!" never made eye contact and would stare out the window when talking to us, we asked for the appetizer first and he brought them out last... Kevin, Thanks for being rude, the food was good but your service was horrible, find a job you like and dont take your hate for people out on customers!

I hate to be a critic but it was bad. The room was freezing because the back kitchen door was open on a cold night. All 3 of our entrees were actually cold. They were still good but not hot out of the wok. We ordered egg rolls and had to ask for hot mustard and we were given a tablespoon full of mustard. Couldn’t get a water refill. Two young ladies doing everything. Working hard but not well.

Food is not good anymore, used to be excellent, now is full of oil, not taste, bad , don't like it anymore. Probably the other CHEF is gone, not good food soever, very sad.

Sad to give it a so-so review, and I hope that the restaurant can improve its food. The service was nice and attentive, the atmosphere and clean setting of the restaurant was great. I liked how the music was tasteful and not too loud. The bad news is the food was not up to par. My family almost exclusively eats at Chinese restaurants and this was our poorest experience with food quality. The complimentary wonton soup tasted spoiled and the wontons in it seemed raw or doughy in texture (never encountered this before). Orange chicken was a sauced nicely but the meat texture was suspect. The one dish I had no complaints about and loved was the beef fried rice-- I don’t think you can ever go wrong with fried rice so that’s my recommendation for this restaurant. I also liked that they offered complimentary appetizer snacks. But I would recommend the restaurant to either change vendors for foods like the chicken and wontons, or improve cooking/storing methods ASAP.

I dined here about a year ago and was thoroughly disappointed with all the food especially the Orange chicken. My gps led me here today as the closest Chinese food place and bad memories resurfaced. I did decide to give them a another chance at the Orange chicken and egg flower soup. Unfortunately I was disappointed, again. The chicken was not good at all and did not taste fresh. Actually, it tastes refried and over sauced. The egg flower soup smelled like urine and I was scared to even eat it, so I dumped it before I was able to take a photo for the review. I just wish the food was as good as some reviews for this place make it out to be. Two stars only because the guy who took my order was nice, and checkout was quick. This is my second time visiting this place and there won’t be a third. Super nice staff though. The other reviews are 100% right about that.

Overall the food experience is quite good, Mongolian Beef is spicy, kung Pau chicken is tasty and service is quick. I was a little concerned about the sanitation here as onions were being stored by the hot water boiler and soy sauce containers were littered outside of the restaurant.

I ordered ko po chicken and there was two little pieces of chicken in the whole meal wow still had to pay full price. Not sure I’m going back.

The food is very good but the staff are kinda mean and seems to be so tired of working there. Not very welcoming place if you care about the ambiance of the place but if you care only about the food, this place is ok.

I went to this place because of its 4.3 rating but I was fairly disappointed. Let me say upfront that I'm Chinese and I'm not a picky person in food. I ordered Kong Pao Chicken, which usually wouldn't go wrong, but let me tell you it was NOT Kong Pao Chicken. The ingredients were changed, probably 3 out of 5, i.e. it did have chicken and some peanuts but that's about it. For this particular dish I'm giving it a 2 at most but I would give Panda Express a solid 4. I also had egg roll, soup and fried shrimp as a dinner meal but they all tasted mediocre to poor. The service was good and simple, but for the food I probably wouldn't come back.

I use to love this restaurant, ate 3x week for over 20 years but since the younger generation took over the food is horrible, not the same cook, talent, taste & they moved from traditional paper takeout to wasteful, toxic plastic containers. No more chicken house salad on the house nor Helen or the elder woman cook who made this place a loving, delicious place I counted on. I stop going here 4-5 months ago & I stopped last night to see if it got better but sorry it was so disappointing.

$75.21... This amount was for a family of 4 tonight. I used to spend this much for a family of 6 or more, less than 5-6 years ago. I know there is inflation, but still. Same orders, too. This place is delicious. The ambiance is great and the mama is soo nice., but she's out of the picture now, and it seems other family has taken over. The portions have gotten smaller for take out and dine in. It'll hurt to leave this place.

Honestly it’s the good to go app , but din ho is also at fault! Ordered a surprise magolan beef surprise box and just got noodles? Every time I ordered from good to go it’s always been orange chicken crap but they added soup and spring roll? Now I pay for noodles? I can make this rap at home! Extra msg tooo! Go to PANDA! I love Chinese food 2 months when we moved in this area I have been trying Chinese restaurant and the area. This one is the worst. The service is unbelievably disrespectful and rude we order takeout Kung Pao Chicken combo, Kung Pao beef, and honey walnut shrimp and my husband went to pick it up and I pacifically told the guy on the phone. Make sure you put extra Chinese mustard he was ok ok my food arrived and as soon as I open, I don’t see any mustard in there and I called them up and she’s telling me that she put the mustard in the back and I keep telling her no you did not so finally she decided to tell me to come back I’ll give you more. I was so upset just because she doesn’t do her job now. I have to get up and let my food sit here and get cold go pick up Mustard so I asked the manager I will come but in order I want to get another Kung Pao Chicken she Agreed so I went there and picked up my chicken and with some extra mustard I come home. my food tasted so bad sticky gross like someone puke on it and they mix something and mustard looked like they add water and tasted gross so I wanted share all this with you guys. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

The food looked good but the service was terrible. We wanted to place a takeout order and told us it would be over an hour. We then asked how long it would be to dine in and she said she didn’t know how long until she had a spot. We found them from DoorDash and it shows online that the order could be completed in 20 minutes. 20 minutes passed and that went up to almost 2 hours. Don’t waste your time going to this place, we decided to go to a different Chinese restaurant and was served within 20 minutes with 2x the amount of people dining inside.

I am Chinese from Taiwan and I am not picky about food because I am not good at cook. Believe me, this is not Chinese food, Panda Express is better than here. It taste worse than I made.

I had lunch on the 4th after the parade. The place was emptied but took about 10 minutes for server The lunch price doubled in price because it was holiday. The food was bad and smaller portions. No egg rolls because it's a holiday Overall service is bad and the food bad. I complained to the owner and told her she lost a customer of 20 years.

Other than the Garlic chicken everything tasted not good. The deluxe fried rice was so blande, the pupu platter was not that good as well. I had so high expectation with this restaurant and when I actually got here it was so disappointing. Uncle Roger would be disappointed with how the fried rice turned out to be.

This was once the best Chinese Food around. The ownership changed and so do the quality of the food. It is now the worst in the area. So sad that a great restaurant my family went to at least once a week now, I wouldn’t eat their food if they gave it to me for free.

Honestly some of the worst Chinese takeout I’ve ever had. The honey walnut shrimp tastes just like the frozen Trader Joe’s honey walnut shrimp, I wouldn’t be surprised if they just heated that up. Way over priced too, if you’re looking for low quality Chinese food save yourself some money and get better tasting food by going to Panda Express.

I used to go there alot and today it was dine out only. When I got home I found they served half what I'm used to ordering. They gave me 2 boxes of white rice when I never get white rice. Called them thinking it was honest mistake lady started yelling at me, she told me to talk to manager and I said ok then she hung up on me. I called back and she yelled some more. Thinking they are trying to make up loss of pandemic

I ordered foods for my Chinese friends and American friends. Apparently nonee of them liked any food. Both very different compared with restaurants for Americans and those restaurants serve authentic foods. Will not recommend anything here

I did not care for their food. Pretty sure the egg flower soup was literally just scrambled egg thrown into boiling water. Not sure if this was a mistake or not, but I do not intend to return. The staff were nice, and the decorum was very pretty.

I was looking forward to some good Chinese food but I have to say this is not the place to get some. Everything was extremely bland (no flavor at all) and dried out. Very disappointing. I cannot recommend this place if you are looking for a decent meal as you will not find it here,

You cannot dine in because of the washed carpets Waited for host to finish phone call order after waiting host did not acknowledge me or my partyI requested to dine in I was told I cannot dine in because they are washing carpets …carpets were dry and filthy and workers were walking around restaurant , it was only 8pm when they close at 9:30 you do the math I was completely discriminated against for simply wanting to dine in ? This is unacceptable and nobody should have to put up with that kind of service. Why do you have a business serving food to people if you don’t acknowledge them ! Horrible customer service!

Tenía ganas de comer buena comida china, pero debo decir que este no es el lugar indicado. Todo estaba extremadamente soso (sin sabor) y seco. Muy decepcionante. No recomiendo este lugar si buscas una comida decente, ya que no la encontrarás aquí.
