Excellent experience here at Pho So 1 in Lake Forest Dr and Trabuco Rd. Party of three on a Sunday around 3:15 pm. The restaurant was not busy at all. Very clean inside, very neat and organized. Lots of parking available. Staff were kind and welcoming. This was my first time at a Pho restaurant, and yes… I am a fan now. Prices were excellent, and the food quantity was plenty. The quality of the food was superb! Everything was so tasty and delicious
Excellent Vietnamese restaurant for the price conscious. Extensive menu with excellent choice of starters, noodle dishes, rice dishes and soup. There is something for everyone and it won't break your bank account
Spacious new pho restaurant. We were surprised to see the no msg sign…. like how? But so great!. The service is quick and kind. You order sitting down but pay at the counter after you finish eating. We all enjoyed our food. They had real sriracha. We will definitely be back. Only complaint from the kids was the old cultural music. Please change to a more modern style for a fun environment. Hahaha…
The moment you walk in you're greeted by the hostess then asked if dining in, and promptly seated. I ordered charbroiled beef & shrimp with noodles (#90) one of my favorite dishes. Bon appétit!
The owner/manager was extremely welcoming and told me a few things about his origin and how he grew up in EU, London specifically. The food was great and put me on a path now to adding Pho into my line up of (highly) desired dishes. I loved the experience! The taste was subtly excellent! I would recommend this place as a go-to to anyone looking for some comfort Vitamanese food. I will def revisit.
Pho So 1 has been such a tried and true restaurant for me and it has taken me out of the trenches more times than I can count. Despite inflation, the prices are still decently priced and the food is always amazing. The food is always ready when you order it and it’s always piping hot. I absolutely love ordering pho with rare steak, well done brisket & flank. Nothing has ever disappointed me here. The restaurant is extremely clean and they have an awesome lunch special for additional egg rolls for $2. This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Orange County and for good reason!
I can’t give this place a good enough review. The food is amazing and the service was excellent! They even refilled our broth for no extra fee and were right on it when they saw our bowl was getting low. We went on a cold rainy night and left with a smile on our face. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
The Pho here tastes healthy. The broth is maybe not quite as deep as some other places, but the meat is good.
The service is friendly and quick. We are always greated warmly and with a smile. Food comes fast and hot. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant is clean. I recommend this place.
Can't find this great price pho anywhere anymore!! They are extremely efficient which probably helps the keep cost down. Great pho. Next time I'll get a large bowl 😀

Great food and great prices. Staff is always very friendly.
Good and authentic pho in the area. Bun cha gio thit nuong is amazing too.
Good food, good service, and decent prices!
I love everyone here🤗❤️ The food is the best ever
Great service, and the food is delicious
Food is always delicious, and the customer service is great!
Broth was fresh and delicious. Will definitely come again
Love the seafood pho with rice noodles
Amazing comfort food! Lots of meat
Pho, salt and pepper shrimp, everything was excellent.
Clean place, pleasant and quick service, excellent pho at great prices. What's not to like?
Another pho place to try in Lake Forest. We ordered the rare steak pho and fried squid appetizer. We enjoyed the food very much, but wished the squid appetizer was a bigger portion.
Best Vietnamese food in town. Love the way they prepare their egg rolls. I used to drive into Irvine three times a week for this place, now they’re just down the street from me.
Now, we can enjoy different taste of Pho in Lake Forest CA. Pho So 1 is a taste of sweet of Southern VN region while Hanoi Pho on El Toro road has taste of Northern region of VN. We can also tryout Simply Pho which is just general traditional taste found anywhere, and Thanh Binh who is proud of their serve their pho with Angus beef. There’s a Pho restaurant in the same shopping center with Mimi Cafe on Lake Forest Drive where serve oxtail Pho, one taste of grease as Chinese food. Life is good to live in Lake Forest CA.
Recently tried this restaurant and was so pleasantly surprised. Meals have been fresh and delicious with natural ingredients. Vegetarian options as well as meat and seafood. Nice customer service too!
Just moved to this area, looked up the closets pho to me that looked most fresh and this place is a 10/10. From their drinks to their pho and side dishes, they definitely know how to put all the flavor in.
Best vietnamese food around and that's saying a lot because there's no shortage of it in this town. And the service is just as impeccable as the food. Always a 5 star experience here.
I usually get pho with well done brisket as take out for lunch. The broth is always flavorful and the noodles are perfect!
Great customer service, Food is always on point. This has been tag as my spot for pho. Love the egg rolls
Food was fantastic, everyone there is friendly… I’m 100% coming back here!
Spot on rare steak, tendon, and meatball. Spicy broth also recommend. staff was super nice and accommodating. highly recommend!
Great Pho Soup with many choices.
This place is always solid. Fast friendly and good food.
Excellent service, friendly atmosphere and good food. Love the coffee.
After having a rough day, this place, the staff and the food was amazing. ❤️
Best pho I ever tasted! Love the spring rolls too !
Amazing Food and service. Everyone is extremely nice and everything is delicious.
Best Vietnamese food around and if you want to argue about it, you can go pho yourself! 😂
Nice family owned business extensive menu reasonable priced!
It was our first time here, and it won’t be the last. The restaurant is extremely clean and the owner is wonderful and welcoming! We had brisket pho and the broth was just amazing and had an addicting taste that was refreshing and delicious!
When you hear customers speaking Vietnamese you know it must be good. Bun Cha was so good. Perfect meal for winter and a healthy way to detox from all the holiday sugar overload.
Been coming here almost every other month for a couple years. They are fantastic and friendly and the broth really hits the spot on a cool night.
The pho was delicious, the staff was attentive and nice, food came quickly, all around a great experience. I will be back! One note for people who don't like cilantro, they add it to the bowl before bringing it out to you. We didn't think to ask because usually it just comes on the side. So you'll want to ask for it without cilantro.
Great Vietnamese food in Lake Forest, clean and easy to find and park. Also their hours are really nice if eating after 8pm is on your agenda. Funny how everything in Orange County closes at between 8 and 9! This place is open until 10
Friendly staff, good food and well priced. The place looks very new and very clean. Egg rolls were great, bbq beef was very good and the bowl was what I would expect. Had a great time with my son.
Comfortable atmosphere, food was delivered so quickly almost as if we had ordered ahead, owners and staff were super friendly and inviting. Good variety of options. Will be back for sure!
This is the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had. I am genuinely surprised by how tasty and delicious the food is here. I recommend their pork dishes with their rice! My favorite part of my meal was the Pork Skin noodles that came with the Pork and rice plate.
They advertise that they don’t use MSG and use healthy ingredients and it does taste clean. The pho and shrimp rolls are delicious as well. The store itself is organized and clean.
True Vietnamese cuisine. Great taste and great selection.
This is easily my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Great for take out or dine in, the food is delicious and the service is friendly. Love their bun, spring rolls, avocado smoothies, pho, banh mi, etc. It’s all good!
5 stars for the crispy pork egg rolls. They are addictive and the best I’ve found in southern oc. Pho is mid imo but hits the spot. Meat was sorta underwhelming and the soup was light tasting (I like a hearty broth). Veggies for garnish were excellent.
This is a great little place. As soon as you walk you are greeted by a staff member, usually they're come from the kitchen because they seem to constantly be running food out to the tables. They typical Pho Soup w chicken is pretty good, and I would highly recommend the extra spare ribs! They are amazing!. Now back to the soup, like most places, the deep flavor comes from the sauces, bean sprouts, mint and of course jalapeños!. The tables are clean, and the utensils are bountiful with a tin on each table with chopsticks and such. This is a great place.
Chicken salad is fantastic. Wife and kids really liked tofu pho. Great service. Food came super fast which with two little kids is exceptional. Chill music playing in the background. Will definitely be coming back regularly. Highly recommended.
Everything tasted fresh and delicious ! Pho broth tasted home made while piping hot that lasted through my entire meal. Noodle quality was excellent , a good bounce/chew (not mushy or too soft like some places), and meat quality was good. Their soft drinks allow 1 free refill. I also got the coconut water and was really good. The sample platter of spring roll, egg roll, crispy wonton was also very good (wonton filling would be a little more though!) Everything looks clean and sanitary and customer service was good, they are very friendly & welcoming .
First time I’ve eaten an entire bowl of Pho, broth and all, in a very long time. “So delicious,” would be an understatement. They clean their shrimp appropriately, their broth is full of flavor and depth, and everything was fresh. I also ordered Spring rolls and I pleasantly got 3 instead of 2 like most other places I’ve ordered this item. Their peanut sauce looked to be made in house and was also just as fresh and delicious. I am glad someone closed early so I could stumble onto this gem. I’ll be driving out of my way for their Pho from now on. Can’t wait to try the other kinds! Phenomenal taste and value.
Went there for dinner, tried their veggie spring rolls and fried rice. Spring rolls were delicious and fried rice had great taste. Their service is very fast compared to other places. Portion size is good enough for 1 person for dinner.
We liked the Pho! The thi ice tea was really good as well. I want to back and try some more foods.
I just moved back from out of state for two years. I always come to this place when I am visiting and when I lived here before. I came back and it was gone and Irvine! So I was very happy to see that it moved to Lake Forest! They have my favorite Vietnamese coffee and Boba and I love their Pho ga!!! I am just so happy that they did not close because this is my favorite place to get my Pho!! The owner is the absolute sweetest as well and it's always a pleasure to go in there and say hi and for her to be so nice and remember me over the years! Looking forward to getting my first order in at the new location tonight! I'm coming in from Irvine all the way from Texas!
Hidden gem with great prices. They are on yiftee and food is always consistent. Great family business
I ordered the beef brisket pho and fried rice — both were delicious. Takeout was quick and easy. Definitely coming back!
Been coming here for a long time. Owner is always super nice and friendly, food is delicious as you can add flavor to your liking!
Wanted Pho for a quick lunch and it surpassed my expectations. The food came out very quickly and the quality was surprisingly high. The broth was delicious, and the egg rolls were very crispy. Good lunch spot overall.

We ate at Pho So 1 in Lake Forest and ordered a few dishes, including brisket pho, BBQ spring rolls (#4), vermicelli bowl (#89), and #57. The total came to about $72, which felt a bit pricey—but the food was tasty. The BBQ rolls were our favorite,. Dish #89 was light and refreshing. It’s perfect for a warm day for anyone who prefers clean flavors. Dish # 57 was just okay. Service was quick, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Overall, it’s a solid spot for Vietnamese food if you don’t mind spending a bit more. We’ll definitely be back.
We ordered pho soup with raw steak & meatball, and grilled pork vermicelli! - Pho was hot and fresh. Soup base was ok, but it seems to be chicken broth more than beef broth. Still good to me - they gave a plate of bean sprout/herbs with plastic wrap on top, small portion. I asked for one more and they were happy to give me more - I like the vermicelli more as the grilled pork was tasty! It came with egg rolls as well Place was spacious, not very crowded. Service was average, everything was smooth & right timing.
The broth was pretty good. Portion was just right for me, but bigger eaters will want to order the large. They don't serve as much protein though.

Smaller than I thought portions. Xtra large was definitely not Xtra large...
It is a Healthy food and never had before I like it 👌
Great vegan soup!!! Fresh veggies! Only complaint was that they wouldn't give me a bowl of water for my dog outside, but the food was great and service good.
Vietnamese Pho with a wide menu selection.
very friendly pho place, quite popular for family dinner.
Good, for Phò in Lake Forest.
Good food at good prices. Probably the best Vietnamese food in Lake Forest.
Everything was great with the exception of our waitress. No tableside manners. Rude attitude, she not smile once! - she is doing an injustice to this lovely restaurant. Unless she is the owner and can get away with it ! In which case she should stay behind the counter and hire someone else with a better personality !
The food is good, no question. We enjoyed the meal. The service, however, is just ok. There was no out and out poor behavior, but it was very cold and there was definitely not a welcome feeling. I might go back and just get take out.
First time here, and we just sorta stumbled upon this place. From the outside, there is little that calls attention to Pho So. Once inside, it reminds you of an 80's diner with a couple of flat-screen TVs for entertainment. We were greeted when we entered, which was pretty cool. Then the staff were at our table very quickly, took our drink orders, and left after providing menus. Once we had ordered our food and the drinks delivered, it was shortly thereafter that our food was delivered. I had the pork vermicelli with fish sauce, which was pretty tasty. My friends had Pho and the other the chicken. Everyone was very satisfied with what they ordered, as evidenced by the fact there was little left on the plates when we were done. So this is a nice little gem of a location, with a friendly staff and great service. The only thing this place is missing is the fancy decor found in more pretentious establishments. You might want to consider lunch here.
When you can't afford to go to the Pho or Vermicelli headquarters, this is the spot! Not 100% traditional, but the flavors are there. Quality is not skimmed on dishes. Reasonable prices.
Overall the restaurant was average. Pho lacked flavor, noodles were soggy and small portion of meat. Salt and pepper shrimp was good. Rice plate with grilled pork and shrimp was good. If you want a lot of flavor it might be lacking. Service was good.
I went for some Ramon during lunch time and ordered beef rice noodle. When the food came, it was not warm enough. The service was slow. The food did not have that much flavor. I’ve haf much better Ramon before. That’s why I gave them 3 stars

The pho broth was a little too thin and lacked flavor. The noodle portion was very generous. The bright spot was the special three color bean and jelly drink. It was perfect.
I read a previous comment that recommended the spicy broth… I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND. It tasted as if they poured a gallon of fish sauce in it. It was quite terrible and also not spicy at all. I tried the regular broth tho and it was much better. Probably won’t return unfortunately
Staff was extremely unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. Food was average, broth was virtually flavorless. Would not return.
Been there many times, food and service always been good, except for last Sunday there was a rude waiter - tall buff guy with glasses. Asked for an extra plate and as he brought it, I noticed needing a fork too, very politely of course, asked for it, and he said why didn't you tell me earlier - I followed him to the counter, get the fork from his hand and told him no need to walk back to our table and it wasn't busy at all - just two other tables. I always like to tip at least 20% but my son and I felt he deserved no tip. I will go there again, but if I see him again, no more dining there. Been to Vietnam few times and have encountered many polite people unlike this guy. He needs to work on his attitude too.
Tried this place for the first time. Felt this place was just average. Service was good, place was clean. Ordered beefball pho. Wife had the ban mi sandwich with pork. She said it was just so-so, nothing special. My pho soup was decent, very little beef balls cut in half, and the noodles was not chewy and broken. Good pho noodles should be slightly chewy and long but not this place. Don't think will be going back.

People might be nice here but your pho has no taste buddies. No taste at all. I love the distinct taste of pho anywhere i go but unfortunately your pho is so tastless and blend that i have to add bunch of spices at home to taste good. Sad bc you're so close to me.
Unfortunately couldn’t try, they ran out of rice and vermicelli on a Monday night. Only thing was Pho.
Manager or Owner with a very unpleasant attitude, if you ask questions about the food, be aware he'll be bothered by it.. I would give maybe four stars if it wasn't because of unpleasant behavior ... I'm not sure.
Service sucks, prices have gone up. Kemanjian eye on expired dates all products.
Showed up at 12 noon. They were still closed. No one showed up for work.
Ordered to go and they told us 30-40 minutes. Took 70 minutes. What a joke.
Got there at 9:30 and guy was really rude “To go only” 45 minutes before their closing time.
Disappointed with my order last night “ grilled pork chopped with egg roll and jasmine rice “. They served nice presentation with vegetable sliced tomato and cucumber. Except for the lettuce was soggy and dead I tried putting in the table in the front table to see if they noticed what they served me even the owner and server didn’t notice the lettuce. The meat has no taste at all and very small piece pork chopped not worth it for $17 bucks for dinner. I like it when they first open the restaurant now they are not doing good.
To the Owners: Your employees are very rude when taking phone orders. Twice, they hung up on me. The second time, they told me, “I don’t understand you. Come here and order in person.” Please ensure you have someone who can take orders clearly and professionally.
Horrible, table is very grease, pho does not taste good at all, go somewhere else
This is my first review I’ve ever felt like I really needed to leave. As I understand we arrived at 9pm and the restaurant closes at 10. I could see how the staff could be tired and ready for the night to be over. As I have been in the food and beverage industry for over 15 yrs, and have personally run a pho restaurant. The attitude of the first young gentlemen was very apparent he did not want us there, and we were an inconvenience to him. We were treated as if we were stupid for asking what time they closed. Then the second server came to our table, made us feel very rushed and unwanted at the establishment. Then when he went to the large table next to us he was very kind and laughing. I asked him about pot stickers which actually are very often served at pho restaurants, and in a very condescending way he explained he doesn’t know what those are. Then when I said they are fried dumplings he said those are Chinese. I believe this offended him and why he treated us like homeless people asking for a hand out. He then proceeded to turn off the open sign a half hour before they closed. Plain and simple if you want to close at 9:00pm change your hours. You are open until 10:00pm to cover your labor and food expenses. Please remember that. I still tipped $13 on a $36 bill because I’m hoping he will not judge a book by its cover next time. I am leaving this as a constructive criticism and not to personal attack anyone. Hope this finds you well, and you can learn from this experience as it is effecting your profit. Take care.
Pho So 1? More like Pho So-So. This pho restaurant out in Lake Forest, California was a disappointment. I'd flew into town to visit family, and while there I was craving a bowl of pho. California, I assumed, must have easy good pho. Googled this joint not too far. With a 4.6 star rating, I didn't think it could lose. How did they lose me? Moment I walked in, buddy asks me if I wanted to sit on an awkward single chair table in the middle of the restaurant. I asked him if I could sit in either one of the empty booths (joint was empty.) He said "Yeah sure." He explained that he didn't know why but he thought the restaurant was full. Lol. I knew what I wanted. Classic Pho Duc Biet. That guy walked past me 5 times before a young lady came by and asked me if I was ready. She was sweet. About 2 minutes after order they give me a plate of the garnish (bean sprouts, lime, jalapeños etc.) that's saran-wrapped. Still cold from the fridge it just came out of. Not long after, the bowl of pho came! So two things: 1. This place is so good, they have constant bowls coming and going. 2. Joint has already prepped, long sitting ingredients thrown in the bowl with hot soup. Unfortunately, it was the latter. The noodles still tasted of heavy starch, didn't go through cold water, meat was gray, dry, tripe was thin, tendons were small. Absolute #fail. Mfer right...Anyways, as I was eating, buddy who thought the restaurant was full, placed my bill on the table. Cool. I put my card down pretty immediately, ready to just go when I'm done. My card sat there as I finished my bowl, then, as I cleaned myself up, then as I started to put all the napkins in the bowl and wipe down the table a little. Just did buddy's whole job for him while he walked past me several times. I had to wave him down like I was back in Hong Kong. Would've done it sooner, but kid had an American accent. Didn't want to scare him with old country behavior. Overall, absolute disappointment. Google rates them 4.6 stars out of 5? I give 1.3 stars. Complete trash. The ice tea was pretty good tho.
I am a Pho lover and I make it a point to try different pho restaurants at least once a week . Today I visited Pho So 1 in Lake Forest . I must say , the place was clean , which I appreciate. However , the service from the waitress was quite rude from the beginnings, and unfortunately the pho I tried was of very low quality . Sadly these factors negatively affected my overall experience and impression of the restaurant. I have been to other Vietnamese restaurants that may look even more modest , but their warm welcome , kind service and delicious food make them worth twice - or even more- than what I paid today . A friendly atmosphere and good quality make all the difference and unfortunately, that was missing from my visit to Pho So 1 .
It tastes like an imitation of Vietnamese food. Maybe it feels that way more because I’ve actually been to Vietnam… but honestly, the taste is really not good.
