Yum!!! So good. I've seen quite a few review is relating to what foods you get and the price. Both of our entrees were served on greens and the sides were modestly priced where if you wanted more food you definitely could get it. The food was very high quality. We live in Milwaukee and I thought the price was maybe a tiny bit high but not ridiculous for the quality of the food. The drinks I'd agree were a bit higher than I'd expect. I had the scallops and my husband had the lamb chops. I would definitely recommend for a fancy night out. Great service as well
We came two years ago and loved it- we loved it again tonight. We made reservations via Open table and opted to sit at the bar. We both had the chef's choice which had steak kabobs, homemade pork sausage, Greek chicken, trout, scallops, and lobster. All cooked over the wood fire grill and served over greens and with a side of garlic mashed. The drinks were also great and Jay was a wonderful server!
After asking several local folks for dinner recommendations, the Medusa Grill and Bistro was the top recommendation. We felt very fortunate to get in that evening, after a long and worth-while wait, since we had not known to get reservations ahead of time. The food is incredibly tasty and fresh - I recommend the fish! Owner and chef Greg Anagnos is awesome! It was a delight to watch the flat screen TV that films him preparing our food..We totally loved Medusa’s atmosphere - it is so cozy, welcoming, and quaint. Because every dish was excellently prepared and a joy to eat, we didn't find the experience too pricey. It is worth it to have both exceptional food, service, and atmosphere.
Great service, great food. Perhaps the ambience is not quite there yet, it is a bit too dark, perhaps our table location was not the best. But we liked it in general.
We really enjoyed our meal here. The restaurant deserves the nearly 5 star rating it has. My wife had lobster and scallops and the scallops were nearly the size of my fist. I had filet and lobster. All the food was cooked perfectly . The service was very friendly as well. Only drawback was a little pricey. The check was about $150 for just the 2 of us.
Very cozy place and I loved TV over the bar showing what cheff is making on the stive at that moment. We had quite a few appetizers and they all good, but.... you definitely want to have grilled octopus with arugala and balsamic vineger dressing is out of this world.
Food, drinks, service all excellent!! Love to sit at the bar & watch Chef Greg cook live on the tv. Best grilled calamari ever!
Definitely the best food I've eaten in Lake Genava! The sweet corn is so good. You will not regret eating here!
Great experience, relaxing ambience and awesome staff. The food is the most amazing thing you've ever had. I've never eaten before and closed my eyes to just focused on the taste, but it happened there. Nice thick ribeyes, along with other interesting appetizers you haven't tried like saganaki.
Wonderful! Really a treat for the folks that know the difference between dining out and eating a "chef created luxury dining experience". It will cost you more than you might have thought, but it is worth the money - no doubt about it. This is a 5+ star review.
We come up to the lake 4 times a year and always make a reservation at Medusa as soon as we know our dates. It is our favorite restaurant for delicious seafood, amazing saffron risotto, and the excellent service. We always feel welcome and special, and enjoy this treat to ourselves each and every time we come.
Absoulty a wonderful dining experience. The food was fantastic, our server, Scott was very knowledgeable and professional. The owner Gregg insisted we try his peaches and cream gelato and it was well worth it. Can't wait to come back.
Chef Greg, outdid himself last evening serving eight of us with a four course meal that was outstanding! The food and service was over the top. I will never drive to downtown Chicago again, I live in Lake Villa, Il. , when I only have to drive an hour and 10 minutes to Lake Geneva for some of the finest food anywhere! Greg graduated from New York culinary school, and every meal is a gourmet meal. If you have never been there, do yourself a favor and go !
Ahhhhmazing! Seriously wish this restaurant was in Chicago. Everything was phenomenal. Ordered the side of mushrooms, best I've ever had. Risotto, not usually a fan but their version did. So creamy and full of flavor. Had the scallops and lobster which were cooked to perfection. Then the mixed greens sautéed with red onion were out of this world! The cheesecake was life changing!!! Hands down best meal I've had aside from Gibsons on Rush.
Fantastic place. The woodfired meats are always cooked perfectly; specifically the filet mignon, lobster tails and sea scallops that we've had recently. Every soup I've tried has been incredibly flavorful. Staff is professional and the ambience is cool and comfortable even though they're always busy.
Passionate food , passionate drinks and very passionate service. Most importantly, super passionate ownership . Take your time and enjoy this experience. It's a great date night dinner or hang with friends.Best joint around.....by far. First time try the chefs choice and leave room for pistachio gelato. Can't wait to get back.
Amazing food here. Easily one of the highlights of our vacation. I got the Salmon and Lobster and my wife got the steak and both of us were very happy. Make sure to save room for Gelato.
Chef Greg is amazing! The Staff is great too. I will truly miss your Sicilian filet and your shrimp/Scallop chowder chef Greg! Good luck in your future endeavors. I will miss Medusa's :( I hope to see you and your pup some time.
Visited Medusa Grill & Bistro this past weekend, for starters we ordered the Grilled Calamari that is grilled over a wood burning grill. It’s served with a light tomato and pesto sauce which bursts with flavor. Second starter we tried was the white truffle fries which were served with a white truffle aioli, it was good but not worth the $9.50 price tag! For the main course we opted for the Chef’s Choice where you pick meat or seafood or both and the Chef surprises you with a variety of their specialties. If you’ve never been and it’s your first time I think it’s a great way to find your favorites for your following visit. The sampler came with a grilled Grouper which was fantastic! One succulent bay scallop seared to perfection, half of a South African lobster tail, beef tenderloin medallion (super tender, melts in your mouth) and two grilled chicken breasts with their own specialty sauces. Everything was fantastic and would highly recommend giving it a try! Wait I’m not done…..a meal is never finished until you have “Dessert” they have a nice variety of Gelato however we choose “The Fluffy Cheesecake” with a strawberry compote, simply delicious! Drinks: House Old Fashioned made with Brandy, then switched it up with Basil Haden’s Bourbon, both crafted and on point!
My daughter and I went here for her BD. She had the pork, I had the Rainbow Trout and Lobster..Saganaki appetizer and gelato and chocolate cake for dessert. So yummy! Totally fabulous all around. Jay our waiter was flawless. Sooo would go there again.
Bar none, the best restaurant in Lake Geneva. Fresh, flavorful, well executed dishes with steak and seafood being their speciality. Belly up to an inviting counter or grab a table. You will not be disappointed.
Exotic food prepared to near perfection. My hands down favorite place to take out of town guests. You won't go wrong with a Chef's Choice- plus you don't have to make a tough decision.
A wonderful date-night dinner. Everything was fantastic. Our waiter was great - and made perfect recommendations. DO NOT pass on the appetizers - we had truffle fries and they were amazing. The wood fired grill gives everything a great flavor. We both had the lobster/scallops combo and it couldn't have been better. Recommended.
EXPENSIVE. AS. HECK. The food and service match the high price point. Be prepared to spend at least $100 for 2 people. If you want the best experience (and you drink), I'd say be prepared to spend more as their craft cocktails and signature drinks are the best I have had in Lake Geneva. Don't go here looking to penny pinch. Go here with the intent of enjoying everything this restaurant has to offer. Portion sizes are surprisingly generous, and the food was delicious.
I was visiting Lake Geneva for the weekend and found this place online. I expected it to be good, judging from the reviews, but it far exceeded just "good". It was actually one of the best meals I've had in quite some time. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants and like to try smaller joints when I'm in new places... Or old for that matter. This place had some of the best sauteed mushrooms I've ever had and the risotto was unreal! The Salmon and Lobster tails were quite good, but relatively on par with good restaurants in Chicago. If you are in Lake Geneva and are looking for an awesome meal, I'd stop by and ask for Jay.
Excellent food and excellent service. The chef's choice plate is the way to go. Yes, it is expensive, but the food is amazing. I looked at the negative reviews for Medusa, and the people who left them typically leave negative reviews for everything. Probably just Debbie downers. Chef Greg is very talented, and he continues to employ great staff. The manager Jay is always friendly and knowledgeable.
Always have a great experience dining at Medusa, but last night may have been the best yet. Chef Greg’s talent is unmatched in the region, and I’ve been served superior meals by him over meals I’ve had dining at Michelin star restaurants. Although the area has plenty of fine establishments, Medusa continues to operate on its own level of quality year after year. Excellent cuisine, drinks, service and atmosphere. Just an outstanding dining experience, and highly recommended!
I don't even know where to start. As a Lake Geneva resident, I've visited every restaurant in the area. We frequent Medusa's for dinner when we can, not often enough. It wasn't until tonight that I realized I had never shared the quality, taste, service and overall satisfaction with this restaurant. After missing our "date night" during the holidays, we were excited to visit this evening. Our excitement quickly grew when we saw the new menu items!! The food Medusa's serves is above "Top Tier". IF you don't enjoy the food at this amazing restaurant, there is something wrong with your taste buds. Do yourself a favor. Enjoy a night out at this top tier bistro, You'll never be disappointed.
My husband and I LOVED Medusa! We had no idea where to eat for our 16 year wedding anniversary. This was recommended by a friend. It's a cute place with about 12 tables and a bar. A perfect size for us (not too big and not small) to be cozy. 😊 The atmosphere is very nice and the staff quick & helpful. It's food was delicious!!! The service was great! This will be our go-to spot whenever we're in Lake Geneva.
Simply amazing. The dish that both my wife and I had tasted excellent. The plates were very healthy portions, not too skimpy. The service was great, really nice and helpful waiter. This is truly a hidden gem!
This place is one of Lake a Geneva’s best kept secrets! This was hands down one of the best meals we have ever had. I thought I knew what I wanted, but our server, Scot, made recommendations and did not disappoint. If you are looking for the perfect foodie date night location, you found it.
Excellent service and food! The Chef's choice is a true adventure and one we will take again! Chef Greg's creation was perfect for our Birthday Boy! If you want a quite dinner reserve a table in the back dining room. Top notch 5 STAR dining!
Medusa is a hidden little gem in downtown Lake Geneva. The ambiance makes you feel like you transported to a big city without having to fight the horrible traffic to get there. The servers are all in black and have a very sleek ans elegant appearance in their uniforms. Our server Scott was poised and very knowledgeable regarding the menu. He answered all of out questions and made us feel right at home. Chef Greg is seriously a phenomenal chef, and Lake Geneva is incredibly lucky to have him. The steak that my boyfriend ordered at medium rare was cooked absolute perfectly. I couldn't stop asking him if I could have another bite, I would have eaten half of it if he let me. The salmon and lobster tale that I had was delicious as well. I am looking forward to the next meal we have there. Clearly I highly recommend Medusa, you will not be disappointed.
The chef's choice was amazing! Lots of food and tons flavor. It is a mix of several dishes from the menu. You pick land, sea or both. Drinks are fantastic and service was impeccable. Highly recommended.
Great fine dining experience. The staff is great, atmosphere is great (much better than you would think from the outside) and the food is amazing. Chef really got me to step outside of my normal cuisine with his creations...and I was not sorry at all.
We did take out. Ordered Greek salad, gyro plate, chef's veggie special, chicken/shrimp meal - each as 4 person meals. There were 7 of us. Needless to say, we had plenty! It was all so delicious! Exceeded all expectations. The risotto is extra special, as is the spicy cauliflower. The gyro meat was seasoned perfectly. Will order again, and again!
Medusa's is one of the best restaurants. The staff is great! The food is unbelievable! Owner and chef Greg is awesome! We are regulars there and he always makes time to come out and see us at table. Can't say enough about it! If you haven't been...you must go!
Fantastic food and service. If you are visiting Lake Geneva, this is a must for anyone looking for fine dining. It more than exceeded my expectations as far as the food and service goes. The establishment is a little small but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the Lake Geneva area.
Excellent cuisine, great portion size and quality ingredients. The grilled octopus appetizer is amazing. I love grilled octopus. I thought I've had great octopus....nope...this is by far the best. So tender and perfectly prepared. Thank you Chef Anagnos!
Found this place online, decided to give it a try. Food and service was exceptional! The filet and lobster were perfect, the saganaki was also fantastic. Wanted to give dessert a try but had no room. We've eaten at a lot of places in Lake Geneva but I think Medusa takes the #1 spot. Highly recommended. Also, this place is smaller with a limited amount of tables, make a reservation.
Great food, service, music and conversation. Very cool vibe from the moment my wife and I walked through the door. Knowledgeable staff was very helpful when choosing a bottle of wine. Everything on the menu looked so good that we decided to go with the chef's choice platter. Absolutely amazing sample of everything that Greg has to offer. We highly recommend Medusa and will be stopping in again the next time that we are in Lake Geneva. Don't forget to order the musk melon gelato. It's a house favorite.
Go. If you have never been to Medusa, go, now. The food bursts with flavor, the menu is incredible and the service is excellent. One of the best restaurants in Lake Geneva but bring your Visa card because it ain't cheap. We go once or twice a year and have never had even a mediocre meal. Just excellent.
I was looking for a great place to go for red meat. I took a 40 minute drive out there after reading all the positive reviews. I took my two teenagers with. The place was smaller than expected, but the ambience was fine. I ordered the ribeye, my daughter ordered rack of lamb and my son ordered the shrimp. We had dolmathes for an appetizer, it was great. My son loved his shrimp. In short, everything was great except the red meat. It was super-charred.. not lightly charred, but super-charred. We both ordered our meat medium, but i couldn't even taste any meat because the charcoal-like flavor was overwhelming. I tried to removal some of the black layers, but it didn't help much. My daughter's lamb did not fare any better. I asked the waiter, if i asked if this could have been prepared less charred, and he said not really due to the nature of the wood fired grill. Only the filet would have been prepared differently since it is pan-seared. If you're not going for red meat, consider my rating a 5. Or, if you are ok with your steak tasting mostly like charcoal, that's great. Everything else about the place was very positive. But I cannot in good conscience rate this above a 3, because i was hoping for a great place to go for red meat, and i was greatly disappointed. I mean when the plates arrived, both red meat meals looked as if there were oddly shaped chunks of coal on the plates. I've had a lot of red meat in my life, but never quite this charred. Maybe it was an off night, but i won't be taking the trek out there again in the hopes of enjoying a great steak.
Went there to celebrate our anniversary. The food was excellent! Top notch in the area. In fact, my wife claimed the steak she had was one of the best ever (it had a crispy outside and perfectly rare on the inside). Service was good. A bit upscale service feel, got us what we wanted, but wasn't overly personable. Which was okay for our anniversary dinner. The place is small, a bit crowded, and noisy. I would say the food was on the pricey side, maybe even for an upscale option. But still feels like a nice intimate place with the lowered lighting and (fake) candles. The menu has a number of specials that change. We even were surprised with a nice sorbet dessert to celebrate our anniversary (on the house). Overall, recommended if you are looking for something a bit upscale in the Lake Geneva area.
I’ve been looking forward to it for so long, but it turned out to be a bit disappointment. The harvest onion soup was very salty that we need to add double volume of hot water to dilute it. The veal piccata with broccoli risotto was not too bad, but the piccata sauce was slightly too salty. The Brussels sprouts was not too bad. The fluffy cheesecake felt like whipped cream with cheese flavor - we didn’t like it at all, but I could imagine some people might enjoy it... Overall, not the quality I would imagine - not sure if it’s some local flavor preference (to be very salty) or just a bad day at Medusa...
The saganaki was very disappointing, runny, with no char from searing it to give it good texture. The seafood was cooked well, but nothing special flavor-wise. The greens the seafood was served on was the best part of the whole experience. Not terrible, but not worth the price in my opinion.
My boyfriend took me for my birthday. The appetizer was great (something like a Greek anti pasta dish with different things to try, including grilled octopus, which was delicious.) We had to ask twice for our second drinks. The entree had a hefty price tag and was a big let down. He ordered grouper and it had no flavor. There was a hunk of buttery cream stuff on top of it, full of calories and fat (DUH.. we are ordering fish) that I guess was supposed to compensate for the fish being so flavorless. My brook trout was only slightly better. We had asked the waiter before ordering if the fish was fresh, and he assured us it was fresh, brought in within 24 hours. We were disappointed. We eat out a lot and were looking forward to something delicious. The final kicker came when after ordering appetizers, drinks, entrees, desert and coffees, our waiter asked us to move to the bar to finish our coffees. We were within minutes of leaving, the check was signed, so his tip was secured. It really turned me off.
Semi-good experience. Tasty food, smaller portions but ridiculously expensive. Two drinks one appetizer and two entrees for $110. Dont put price on the cocktail menu, maybe because a drink is for sure over $10. Price vs. Reward not worth it.
The appetizers were very good. We had the goat cheese saganaki, grilled calamari, and skordalia. The dinner itself was disappointing. My steak was perfectly pink inside but so charred on the outside that all I tasted was burnt meat. My friends was the same way. Her lobster was also slightly overdone. My father's lamb was in the same condition as our steaks. The side of sauted greens with my steak were very salty. We got corn and risotto on the side.... the corn was just fine. Tasted like canned corn. The risotto was weird.... not only was it UNDER cooked, but it tasted like funky mac and cheese....the kind with the powdered cheese. The desserts weren't bad. The white chocolate creme brulee could have been a bit softer but that could be because there was white chocolate in it and that affected the consistency. I think a couple of fresh raspberries on it would have put it over the top. The tiramisu was a bit heavy on the whipped cream but otherwise passable. Overall, I'd say that if they fixed their meats and lowered their prices quite a bit they'd be fine. As it stands, I feel no urge to go back.
I put in a reservation & was told an hour. No big deal as I work in the service industry myself. After an hour I came back to check on it & the hostess told me she couldn't give us a table as she had no idea when we could get a table. As a service industry person I found this unacceptable. Be honest with your service. Don't treat your customers this way.
