Birria tacos are delish! Food was goood and not pricy like most Mexican spots in Ottawa and Gatineau. Drinks were also delicious! I recommend going during working hours if you can. It was nice and quiet. Fast service.

Il y a deux types de resto mexicain « fuera del pais », celui qui t’offre une nourriture caricaturale et à la va-vite, à des années lumières de ce que l’on retrouve à Campeche ou à Merida, puis il y a ce type de resto qui te propose quelque chose qui te fait voyager, tant par l’ambiance que par les papilles gustatives et ce, à moindre coût. On n’a donc pas étonné de découvrir que le chef était Mexicain. La bouffe est à l’avenant : fraîche, colorée et pleine de saveurs. On a adoré l’atmosphère (les fresques sont de toute beauté) qui se veut festive et la déco est un beau clin d’œil à la culture mexicaine. (En février l’endroit risque de soigner la déprime hivernale!) Personnel accueillant et sympathique, on se sent presque à la maison. Avec la margarita Cadillac vous êtes en voiture !… et que dire de la «guac» en entrée et, comme plat principal, le taco de poisson. Muy rico, vamos a regresar. 5/5.

Le Azta Taqueria est un bel ajout aux restaurants de Gatineau. C'est difficile de trouver des tacos authentique à Gatineau donc j'étais content de trouver au menu des grands classiques tel que le Al Pastor, Poulet Asado et Birria. Le tout était accompagné de riz mexicain et d'haricots, qui furent délicieux. J'ai aussi essayé le ceviche poisson et ceviche crevettes, de bons choix pour partager en groupe. Autre chose que j'ai bien apprécié était la grande sélection de tequila et aussi une belle variété des cocktails à base de tequila et mezcal. Leur spécialité dans les cocktail est évidemment la margarita, qui est offert soit sur glace ou en slush. Le Margarita Classique (sur glace) était délicieux quoique beaucoup trop sucré comparativement à une margarita authentique. Tout de même, je crois que la majorité de la clientèle en Outaouais préfèrent des cocktails sucré (comme on en trouve au Belle et la Boeuf et au Shaker). Le bartender nous ont par la suite fait des margarita plus à notre goût (moins sucré, plus de tequila).

Some would consider the menu to be a little pricey for the area but when it comes to the food quality and service the price is honestly well worth it. I've visited more then once and I got to say even on a busy Friday evening, my servers Ariel and Marique (I hope I spelt that correctly) were always on top of their tables ensuring the customers were attended to and happy. The atmosphere outside is fantastic for a warm summer evening. Not to speak lightly of the decor and custom murals indoors as well. Overall I could not find any flaws.

First visit, they had great cocktails and the atmosphere is top notch. They've done a superb job with the decor. The restaurant being situated in a cute pedestrian public square definitely adds to the Mexican village Taquéria vibe. Food was well crafted with complex flavours, though I only had the Queso Fundido and Tostados I'm excited to try the other menu items. Service was quick and friendly.

Wonderful experience going out to dinner with my friend. We split the watermelon margarita, and they actually gave us the extra drink that wouldn't fit in the watermelon in a glass on the side which I appreciated. Our server Sarah was very quick with everything and friendly. My friend and I both got the mexi-bowls, chorizo and shrimp, and were both extremely satisfied. Best mexican food I've had in a long time. Fairly priced and worth every penny. Will be back to try more!

We had a mango margarita and a guava one, delicious! The shrimp tacos are simply amazing. My daughter had the shrimp Mexi bowl, she loved it so much she wants to go back again and again. Can only imagine what this place looks like at night. We came in for lunch. Had the Al Pastor Tacos and made it a meal (beans and rice) for an extra $5.99 (steal of a deal). Also had the pineapple margarita and it did not disappoint. They have a pretty big Margarita menu which is great! I do hope that they offer a taco tasting menu or buy individual tacos with their bigger menu (limited for soft open) as I would have loved to have tried more. Right now you get 3 of the same for your taco order.

Overall a lovely experience! Sara was our server and she gave thoughtful suggestions for food and drink. We were served our food quickly and it was delicious! I definitely want to go back and will be recommending this place to friends!

My BFF and I stumbled upon this absolute gem after spending the afternoon at Huma Spa and what a perfect end to our day! We both had the birria quesadillas, which came with beef dip and Mexican rice and it was absolutely divine. The wait staff was quick and courteous, they spoke well to us in English and French. The atmosphere is amazing- gorgeous art on the walls. We felt like we were in Mexico! According to the waitress the chef is Mexican and develops all his recipes himself- we could tell! We sat there and happily devoured our dinner while ironing out details for our yearly girl’s trip to Mexico and gossiping. We will be back- this is our new after-spa spot!

Every time I visit Azta I have the absolute best time and this time was no exception. We were celebrating my engagement and our waitress Mia made our experience the most memorable I ever had at any restaurant hands down. She truly made us all feel like VIP customers and made my day so incredibly special. Thank you Mia I will never ever forget that. 🥰❤️❤️. She is so kind, warm, welcoming and so knowledgeable about the food and the drinks including the huge variety of tequila.😳 I absolutely love the extra aged tequila and she chose one "Mandala" that took me immediately back to my trips to mexico with my brother.🥹 She introduced us to Azta's signature shot which literally lit up our evening🥃🔥😯. As you can tell, I am beyond impressed with everything. I have officially claimed my new favorite restaurant and cannot wait to bring my brother but until then. Définitivement un des bons resto "mexicain" de la région mais c'est pas là que vous aller trouver de la vrai bonne bouffe mexicaine. L'ambience est agréable, la déco est jolie, mais c'est un peu trop cher pour ce qu'on a dans l'assiette.

I love the atmosphere, you feel like you're on vacation in Mexico. Delicious food, excellent margaritas. Happy Hour is beyond worth it - outside of happy hour, expect to be paying a good chunk of money for your meal. Some servers are very attentive and check in frequently, some leave you wondering if you will ever be able to order. I've been here twice now and had 2 different experiences, so it's hard to give a straight answer. I will update my review after my 3rd visit.

Checked out AZTA after seeing many bloggers rave about it. Overall, it was decent! The raspberry margarita and porc al pastor tacos were yummy. I wouldn’t order the chips and guac again.. unfortunately there wasn’t much flavour to the guac. The restaurant itself was really beautiful inside and out!

Brand new restaurant for a quick Mexican bite. Atmosphere and staff is very welcoming and accommodating and the Margaritas are great. I did find the food a little under seasoned (probably personal preference) for Mexican food but the vibes, drinks and staff make up for a great time

The food was excellent! I saw a review complaining about the limited menu choices; it's their sample menu because it's the pre-opening! They're going to have a lot of choices based on my conversation with our waitress. There's going to be burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, etc. The atmosphere is top notch, service was good (remember it's the first day of pre-opening so of course there's some adjustments to be made). My only complaint is that it is quite pricey. I do hope when the full menu is out that there are options below the 20$ mark, otherwise we probably won't be going very often. But other than that, very pleased to have this new restaurant in the neighborhood.

Great location with the fun and party vibe that was missing in the Agora Village. They re-vamped the place nicely. Welcome to the neighbourhood! Food: good - i am sure they will adjust the menu based on the review and preference. The fish ceviche was delish. Tacos were ok. Cocktails: very good Service: excellent (we went on Sunday evening when the place was not packed so the food and drinks came pretty fast. Also, our server (Kamilla) was very attentive and present - made all our experience better overall. Price: on the high side like all the restaurants lately, so i will not say more.

J’ai bien aimé mon margarita et l’ambiance était super mais j’ai été quand meme déçu de la nourriture au prix qu’on paye…Ce n’était pas mauvais mais je m’attendais a beaucoup plus de saveur. Belle présentation par contre.

The decor definitely looks great, the all tequila bar is also great. But the service in my opinion was a bit slow, For the Food those were very mid tacos… they lacked flavour and the tortilla breaks easily wouldn’t go there for the food but 100% for the Cocktails. The margaritas were great.

Joli décor, la musique est bonne et les serveurs sont sympathiques (sauf pour le placeur à l’entrée). Je lui ai demandé une banquette mais il m’a répondu que c’était pour 4 personnes et plus mais il m’a installé sur une table de 4. Pour finalement assoir 2 couple de 2 dans 1 banquette chacun sans que le resto soit rempli…) La nourriture c’était malheureusement décevante. Vraiment aucun goût, j’ai du demander du sel pour rehausser mon plat. Bcp de mouches à fruits à l’intérieur, ça été plutot désagréable. Leurs churros étaient bon! En gros, mon expérience etait pas assez bonne pour y revenir ou pour le conseiller à d’autre.

Food was very tasty, but small portion for the price. I was expecting some small sides for 3 tacos at 25$. Would have reviewed higher if I didn't hear the staff bribing clients to leave 5 stars for free drink. This ruins the authenticity of every 5 stars reviews in here.

Lovely and fun décor. Service was great. Food was very good. Could use a little more seasoning. I added some hot sauce. The hot sauces were very good: one was Cholula and one a bourbon based that was a bit sweet and smokier. Nice drink selection. I had the Mexican coke which is a nice touch.

Overall, I had a good experience. The food was very good and the service was friendly. However, I did find the restaurant a bit pricey. I also ordered the churros with dulce de leche, and unfortunately they were disappointing. The sauce tasted more like caramel rather than dulce de leche, and it had a slightly burnt, bitter flavor. I wouldn’t recommend the churros.

I was excited to try this new place but was very disappointed. Servers and atmosphere is greatbut, it took 10 minutes to seat us when the place was half empty. Then we try to order drinks from the happy hour menu, but in mockatails, and the server announces to us that it will be more expensive to get it alcohol-free (basically not in the happy hour deal) which I found very odd since it’s less expensive to make, and unfair for people who can’t drink. It took very long to get our order, which one part of it was wrong (mistakes happen, i got the replacement pretty fast). The portions are insanely small, the 7$ taco (happy hour deal) was 3 girl bites. This was discussed with the server and he said they are aware of the drinks and portions problem.

I was really excited to try this spot considering you can't find birria tacos anywhere around here! So I ordered the birria tacos with drinks and guacamole. When I picked up my order, I noticed they had forgotten our drinks. We went back to get them and there were no issues. We went home to find out they had also forgotten our guacamole. We paid 90$ for this order and the birria tacos were appetizer size (photo attached). Although the food was alright, it wasn't very warm and I wasn't full after the meal. Keep in mind that the birria tacos were close to 30$ each. If you read the description of the birria tacos, it says that it comes with cilantro, yet we barely got a garnish of cilantro.

Went there for dinner, my girlfriend and I. To save on the hassle on not making supper. Was expecting a good atmosphere/service and received none of that. Food was okay at best and the waiter just dropped our plate off and didn’t come back to check on us/ask if our water needs refilled. Tried to get the waiter’s attention to get our check and he made eye contact and refused to come over. Took about 20 mins for him to even come to our table with the check. Over all very poor experience and will not be back, had high hopes and was severely disappointed.

If you want food poisoning go ahead. It smelt like fish so much that I genuinely asked if they have a live fish tank. They did not, and against my better judgement I still decided to eat there unfortunately. The shrimp tacos has a foul taste. I called and spoke to the manager a few hours later but he said they have a protocol to follow and was not interested, concerned or sincere. Post Update Since you replied and insisted that I did not dine at your restaurant this evening, please find attached a copy of my receipt. Thank you so much for your concern. Worst customer service, came in with My whole family(parents,wife, 7year old & 8month baby) the manager or 1 female staff didn’t acknowledge or greet any of us, place was empty. Manager is beyond rude and 0 hospitality skills. Why the garbage customer service from the Manager? Update your promos and & honour it. Get rid of that Manager of yours and teach your staff how to work in a Restaurant! Coming from a guy that worked in them. 2nd time coming here, we all had a great time and service in the past besides over priced dishes. Ruined our plan for the day. The food portions was disappointing — just five shrimp and a few pieces of meat after a long wait. It didn’t taste like real Mexican food at all, and the prices were ridiculously high. Definitely not recommended.

We enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but the service was disappointing. When we split the check, we left a 15% tip on two of the bills and not on the third since it was already included. Our server, Brooke, approached our table and complained about it in a way that was quite embarrassing. I’ve never had a server address a tip situation like that, and it made the end of our meal very uncomfortable. Other than that, the food itself was good.

Très décevant. Menu limité. Tacos de boeuf « mariné » qui ne goûtent pas grand chose. Faut rectifier l’assaisonnement et mettre un paquet de sauce piquante pour que ce soit mangeable. Mojito imbuvable (surette, salé!). Même avec un shot additionnel de sirop simple ça reste mauvais. Jolie terrasse avec vue sur la fontaine, mais musique dans le tapis on a de la misère à s’entendre. On m’apporte la facture, on m’a chargé 15.00 pour le mojito que je n’ai pas bu. En tout 43.96$, vraiment excessif pour la qualité et la quantité servie. Je ne recommande pas du tout. Il y a bien mieux ailleurs. Il y a même des restos qui te remboursent quand tu n’aimes vraiment pas le plat.

The food and the atmosphere is great - the food is delicious and for a good price. The portions are good. However, our server although she was good, but when we paid, she came to us and complained about not giving tip. We actually paid tip but since the bill was split she asked us to give her tip on each bill. I don’t complain about giving her a tip. It was just the way she approached to me and my family. Also she told me that it was because if she doesn’t get tip, then she will have to pay a tip to the staff from her pocket. This is completely unacceptable. She charged me $1cent and then she told that I had to giver her tip. As far as I know, giving tips is not mandatory in Canada. She did a good service and she was tipped with the other bills that were split in the SAME table.
