What can one say? After decades of dining at Luby's around the state; ownership changing hands over and over; soon to be extinct. Still my favorite place to get fried chicken; had a lovely hostess to refill my endless thirst for sweet tea. Still makes me laugh every time I watch King of the Hill and see the niece Luan Platter.

I have had the best times of my life at this location. Now four generations of our family have enjoy this restaurant. Lubys we love you ❤️. Thank you.

My to-go (curbside orders) always have a mistake lol but I enjoy the taste of their comfort food. Very open areas to dine in case you wish to go to an place with space between you and other diners.

Food is delicious. Great atmosphere. Variety of sides, salads, desserts, and soft drinks. Coffee and cake ar also good. Light options are also available for those watching their calorie intake.

For those who ask why I usually give five star ratings for restaurants, it is because I try to rate them for what they are. I would never compare a Luby's to Michelin star restaurant, so I rate it as a fast food ready to eat place to dine. The food is already there buffet style, except it is served to you, and charged according to the plate. It's not all you can eat. So if you're in a hurry, it's a great place to eat. It is usually packed at midday because of this. And although you carry your own plate, be kind and leave a couple of dollars for the staff.

everything is good but every time i go which is at least 3 or 4 times a month i always ask for my senior discount and they always have an excuse to deney me the discount, from its too early or something else. you might as well put outside a big sign that says, " NO SENIOR DISCOUNT OFFER HERE'' in very big letters.

This place is SO GOOD! My friend and I go about once a week for lunch! The staff is always so kind and helpful. My daughter has a dairy allergy and one of the cooks came out to tell me what items I could have. They were extremely helpful and accomidating! Not to mention the food is superb!

Ate my side dishes n waited 25 minutes for Enchiladas. Sadly Disappointed with all the food . Food was cold, Enchiladas was served on A sided plate instead of a plate. Tortilla n Cheese were cold n hardly melted with No enchilada sauce. Totally Disgusted with the plate. Have been gone n still Disappointed due that The Food is terribly Cold when should be served a good warm temp. to eat. For Why I don't eat at Luby's Anymore.

I Love it here! The blackened chicken is soooo good, but then again so is everything else they make. You can have a nice big salad for $3!!! Nice and fresh prepared how you like it! Great place, great food!!! 😊

Never a bad meal here. Whatever fish you get, you won't be disappointed. They always help with the tray when necessary. The only con is bathroom cleanliness. The rest of the restaurant is clean. I do wish we could pay a tip at the register though. I rarely carry cash, so it would be convenient and save me from asking someone for cash to leave a tip.

I love going to Luby's, because I can choose from a variety of vegetables and my favorite liver smothered with caramelized onions it's the only place that serves it! Also salads, desserts, a variety of beverages. Oh, also a choice of breads! I love their corn bread, it is delicious! Don't take my word for it, go and experience it yourself, you won't regret it!!

We were in Laredo for our Global Entry interviews and needed a quick lunch before the drive back. We miss Luby’s since they all closed down in our area. The food was delicious! Service was above and beyond accommodating. The facility was clean, including the restrooms. We miss Luby’s. Great stop for a delicious lunch.

Loved Luby's since I was a kid and believe me... this Luby's has not changed one bit. Still one of my top favorite places to eat and always try a new dish but always seem to run back to the fried fish. Food is great and plenty of options for all appetites. Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with brown gravy are my favorite sides. Staff is super nice and very quick to serve. Place is neat and tidy and can get busy with some noise but nothing out of the norm.

Always a pleasure to eat here at Lubys. This place is my Wife's childhood restaurant where her Dad would bring her and her siblings to eat. The food is always great here and lot's of variety.

I had wanted to try Luby's for a while, and was so glad I finally made it there! I was so pleasantly surprised with the Cafeteria style dining they have! They offer a huge variety of Dinner Entreés, and so many options for side dishes, salads, breads & Desserts! I really like that you can go down the long counter and view all the food, and choose what you'd like to eat! Everything I tried there was very tasty & fresh! The staff is really welcoming, courteous and so helpful! It was like a nice Home-cooked meal of Yummy comfort foods, and a most enjoyable Dining experience!

For anyone who hasn't been to Lubys in a while, you're in for a big surprise. While the quality of the food and the service was not that great before, they have really stepped up now. The manager is on the spot watching over everything and asking if everything is okay. They have all the old favorites like meatloaf and liver and onions, cheese enchiladas were piping hot and fresh. Spinach was well seasoned. macaroni was nice and creamy and the lemon meringue pie was delicious!!

The best home cooked American food for great value in Laredo and it was so cheap to eat here for me less than $12 for my meal of delicious fish and two sides and my bread roll. Service is 100 from the people serving the food, the cashier, waitresses, cleanliness was all on point even though they were packed. Delicious food and great place to relax and have a meal. Lots of memories brought back eating here. They had a good selection and everything seemed fresh. Waitress was a little slow, but she wasn't really needed for anything. Chicken Fried Chicken was nice.

Very good food. A little limited on menu, but good quality. I have never eaten gumbo anywhere, but at Lubys I tried thier seafood gumbo and liked it very very much. Thier fried battered white fish is never disappointing as well as their sides. Lubys has definitely become a place to dine for our family atleast twice a month if not more. Staff has always been friendly and seem to be willing to answer questions and or concerns.

Well this is my initial place to go I have just come in from DFW Airport from Dallas to Laredo to visit my friend and we went there on our way home the food was good but the people there at the restaurant do not pay attention to what you order so you get the wrong food cuz I order chicken fried steak they gave me chicken fried chicken men Lessie silverware was not cleaning service was not accurate helpful let's see what else The Waitresses instead of when we asked for a steak Knife did not go and get the snake mice she came and talked to the waitress taking care of our table so we had to wait even longer just to get a steak knife that was not good business all she had to do was go pick up two knives and bring them back to our table but since she was not our waitress she refused to do that she went and sold our waitress I can elaborate more but I'll leave that alone now you got the message

Food was tasty and fresh. Servers were quick to bring refills. Plenty of parking available. Only thing I found was that there was a lot of dirty tables even though it wasn't that busy when we stopped by. Waiters would take the cash tip left on table but wouldn't clean the area. We wanted to sit at a table but when we arrived to it, there was still food crumbs and wet spots, so we chose another spot.

A great restaurant very clean, very friendly. Never had any inconvenience. The food was hot, the salad was cold crisp and fresh. Four star is not a bad review nor lacking in any aspect of this establishment. FYI I would only give five stars to my wife's cooking. Kudos

Overall I was satisfied. They didn't have the traditional garlic bread which I was craving. Some of the selections were slightly limited. Staff was great. It's become a little pricey due to the economy but still worth it. Would I go back? Absolutely.

Overall experience was okay. Wish food was at least warm. The fried chicken was steaming hot but the green beans were cold. Ladies at the serving line were not in the best mood. It all started with not being able to place an online order; which no fault of this establishment, however, having to call it in was a bit difficult. First called to ask of they experienced any issues with online orders. I'm thinking I was able to speak to the manager. If not, he was very helpful for that moment. He took the time to check the site and saw no issues. Great! I continued to have ordering issues and asked if I could just call it in when ready. Yes, he says and ask for 1 of the 2 names he gave me. Great...I'll do that. Thought I'd try something and any other order was calculating on the online site. Just not what I wanted. I ended up changing it to something else and everything was going great until I reached the checkout. Put in my CC info and my subscription discount code and couldn't go to actually Pay! Got out..tried again 3 times. Same result. Fine...I'll call in what I really want. Called, asked for 1 of the 2 names previously given. The lady said ok. Then, asked who is the order for. I gave the name. She said hold on. 🤔 She came back to the phone and I asked can I give her my order. YES! Gave it to her told her about the code. She said give when you arrive. Ok. Good. Thank you. Husband gets there, calls to inform he's arrived for curbside. Told them he has a code. The lady questioned if he was military. He said no. But I have a code. He showed her the code from his phone. Tell me why this woman grabs his phone and walks off to the restaurant 😲 Who does that??? Anywho, got my food and it was colder than it should've been and the white roll...NOT Luby's standards At ALL. Hard and dry. Knocked on the table. Totally threw it away. I hated that! This was by far the worst online and dine-out experience I've ever had. Just 1 thing after another. I've dined in at this location before. Thats why I trusted this experience. Didn't see this coming. 😕

What's to say about Lubys? It's quick, easy way to put grub in your stomach. Service was good, never had an issue with that. What I will say is the salmon I got was dry as hell, although if I wanted fresh fish, Lubys probably should've never been the first, second, or even third choice. They were out of a particular bread, so my wife was given a number. They forgot to bring the bread until I got attended to by the waitress and asked about it(who was apologetic, and very friendly). All in all, not great, but not bad. Decent. I will say that the prices seem to have gone up ever so slightly, and it's getting to be a bit pricey for the quality of food that you get.

The restaurant had a horrible sewer smell like the toilets or something was backed up. Not good when you're eating. The food tasted ok. I'm used to Luby's being that nostalgic cafeteria food that reminds me of being a kid. But this ine fell short. Prime rib was really dry and tough. Mashed potatoes and mac and cheese had no real flavor. The fried fish was the best thing and not by much. Maybe we went in on a bad day but it wasn't a good first impression for that Luby's in Laredo.

It's a good place to eat cafeteria style foods. Try the blackened chicken and the baked pork chops. The twice cooked potatoes are great, so is their macaroni and cheese. The steamed broccoli is never disappointing. The salads are great. The ice tea is brewed perfectly.

Normally, the food is good, but when I ordered the baked chicken, I was given a piece that was old or was sitting for a while. The chicken was tough and very dry. I was brought another piece that looked fresh, and in a way, it was, it was still bleeding. I was glad the mashed potatoes and roll were good.

Luby's was a fond childhood memory that my family and I intended to revisit, but I guess things have changed and this lunch was a failed attempt. The quality of the food was disappointing- from a hardened baked white fish, to over-cooked broccoli and muddy tea. Leaves room for improvement.

Luby’s is always the same. It’s been the same for a long period of time. If you want homemade food it’s the option. It’s classic Mac and cheese it’s always good, the mashed potatoes is good also. The restaurants are old, whichever you pick. For me it’s expensive for what it is. The liver is good and the no bake fluffy cheesecake is really good Overall, is not the best option but it’s ok. Overall if you feel like eating better than fast food and without waiting time go to Luby’s

First of all, I had not been at luby's for a couple of years. The reason I liked Luby's was because of their liver and onions. I ordered that yesterday and to my disappointment the liver was so hard I could barely cut it with a steak knife. Also, for two orders with two drinks and two pieces of pie, the total was $38.50, which was extremely expensive due to the quality of the food. I think this will be the last time I we'll visit Luby's ever.

I ordered the baked fish and it was overcooked, hard and rubbery. I was so disappointed. It was my first time going since pandemic. The hostess was very pleasant.

I wish this place had friendlier service and cleaner serving practices. It had been some time since we had last been there, and sadly this time was pretty disappointing again. Some of our food had cold spots and bad texture, but I didn't feel comfortable sending anything back because people were not being friendly that day. Also, the lady who was taking care of our table is usually grumpy and was loudly setting down our drink refills. She wasn't friendly until we were about to leave. And going back to rude people in the line serving, one lady made a mistake and placed the wrong food on one of my kids' plates and just put the wrong thing back in the container and proceeded to put the correct thing on all the juices of the previous wrong food item. I don't know why we keep going back there. Perhaps I keep hoping it will be improved. I've got to learn how to make those dishes at home.

I’m compelled to review this place because the awful pickup experience I had. In fairness, the food is amazing. Just as good as Luby's has always been. Service though…geez…it’s embarrassing. I ordered two family meals online. I arrived 40 minutes later and was told they didn’t have two of the items I ordered. So I chose some replacements then spent the next 45 minutes standing/sitting around waiting for my “new” order. Them not having 2 items apparently meant they just wouldn’t prepare any of my order. Did it not occur to anyone that maybe they should’ve, I dunno, CALLED ME to let me know so things could’ve been worked out before my arrival? Obviously not cause no one called me prior to arrival. Or even better…I REALLY WANTED to call in the order instead of order online, but I wasn’t able to do so because I was stuck on hold for 10 minutes with zero human interaction. I only placed the order online because NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE. Icing on the cake was me sitting there for 45 minutes watching staff answer the phone. 🤦‍♂️ So I guess it’s easier for staff and management to just not communicate a problem and have a customer wait for almost an hour. 🤷‍♂️ I dunno. If anyone with lubys is reading this…the pickup piece of the Laredo location is embarrassing. Why offer the service if you ain’t gonna do it right?

Very bad, I orderd through Doordash a dish that they do not have when the doordasher was there to collect. Cafeteria quality food at fine dining prices. Shareholders keep demanding higher margins and Luby's delivers. Skyrocketing prices and decreasing portions. LuAnn that used to be an economic half-portion is now just a .50 - .99 off. Most dishes offered have no price tags. Surcharges for everything: premium sides, premium bread, premium salad. Coffee isn't included in the fountain drink purchase anymore. Cashier will ring you up close to $20 for mediocre quality food. At this price you are better off going to a nicer restaurant. It's a cafeteria self service but they do have poor underpaid waiters whose only job is to offer you a drink refill out condiments. They deserve a living wage, so please, leave them a tip (I do). Yes, that will add to your bill but hey, corporations are people too.

Trays were wet and when I told an old bleachers blonde lady about it, she handed me paper towels to dry them ourselves. Same lady we told her we wanted the Luann Chicken special. She serve the mashed potatoes and green beans. Gave us a number to deliver chicken to table. They took forever so we started eating our sides as they were getting cold. VERY POOR SERVICE THAT WE WILL NOT RETURN TO LAREDO LUBY'S AFTER TODAY'S BAD EXPERIENCE.

Their system allows you to place orders online despite being closed early for Super Bowl Sunday, then they dismiss you and ask you to call corporate. Be careful with their systems of operations. I would suggest you do not use their online system and call the restaurant to play it safe. They still haven't refunded my money.

In the past, Luby's quality in all areas was good. In the past couple of years, quality in all areas is substandard(less than 1 star). People serving the food do not wear masks. Regardless of masks requirements, saliva droplets are expelled from the mouth everytime a person speaks (HEALTH HAZARD). A young man put fresh food on top of the food already on the tray instead of the other way around. The times that I've been there my food gets cold by the time I get to sit to eat because there is only one cashier so food gets cold by the time I pay. The restrooms are gross🤢!! The floor is often sticky. I try not to use the rest room, but when I have to, they are always dirty. There are never any paper towels to dry your hands, and most importantly almost no running water to wash your hands. The flow of the water is almost as if dripping. The restrooms are a severe HEALTH HAZARD. I truly don't know how it has passed inspections. I will have to stop going until it improves.

I recently dined at Luby's restaurant and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. I must give a 1-star rating to the food, not because of its taste, but due to concerns about its temperature safety. Throughout my visit, I observed that the food was not maintained at safe temperature levels, which is a significant issue for any establishment serving meals. On a more positive note, I'm inclined to give a 3-star rating to the service. Despite the food-related concerns, I found the employees to be receptive and professional. Their attentiveness and willingness to address my concerns were commendable. However, I have to give another 1-star rating to the atmosphere. During my visit, I was dismayed to find four roaches directly on the food line. This is deeply concerning for any restaurant, and it significantly impacted my dining experience. When I brought this issue to the manager's attention, I was informed that they had recently fumigated the premises. However, this explanation did little to alleviate my concerns, especially considering the active presence of roaches. As for the specific dish I ordered, the chicken fries chicken, it was served cold. This further highlights the issues with food temperature maintenance. Thankfully, I was promptly refunded for this subpar dish. Additionally, my son and daughter chose not to order anything due to the unsanitary conditions they witnessed. Overall, my experience at Luby's was disappointing, primarily due to concerns regarding food safety and cleanliness. While the service was decent, the issues with food temperature and the presence of roaches overshadowed any positive aspects of the dining experience.

Oct 31, 2024 CAUTION: God says, "To those who are full even what is sweet tastes bitter, AND to those who are hungry even what is bitter taste sweet". I ate Luby's food because I was hungry. I really wasn't expecting poor quality cooking. Unfortunately only the mash-potatoes were good. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT !!! The breaded fish was too harsh and irritating in the mouth. It didn't occur to me to ask for milk to soften it !!!.

I had a very disappointing experience at Luby’s. The food quality was poor and did not meet expectations, especially considering the price. In addition, the restrooms were unclean and poorly maintained, which made the overall visit uncomfortable. Cleanliness and food quality are basic standards for any restaurant, and unfortunately this location fell short in both areas. This experience has made me hesitant to return or recommend this restaurant to others. The cashier was really really nice tho :)

My children and I recently visited Luby’s, and wow… busy, busy, busy! We tried to enjoy a meal, but I quickly became overwhelmed by just how many people were in the restaurant. To make matters worse, our waitress kept speaking to me in Spanish, and I had to kindly explain that I only speak English. On top of that, the floors were dirty, and the area where you grab your food needed serious attention. I also noticed that no one was checking the temperatures of the food my fish was cold and had to be returned. Overall, I was very disappointed in this experience. Between the chaos, cleanliness issues, and poor food management, my children and I do not plan on returning.
