Zaitoon Kitchen is one of our most reliable places to get high quality food that even our picky kid enjoys, and it's reasonably priced even with this crazy inflation. I highly recommend them! Definitely try the baked fish on basmati. Their fries are also quite good, and the baklava and macarons are very tasty desserts!
Smack dab in the middle of latham is this delicious restaurant called Zaitoon kitchen. The service was good & the food was seasoned & yummy. Note: I have been here in the pass & haven't returned due to bland food, missing sides that were ordered & bad customer service. With returning again due to my girlfriends request after 2yrs, the good food & good customer service was refreshing. Hopefully the new & improved standards are maintained & ill be sure to return.
Had a great experience today, I ordered a beef and lamb Gyro and it was the best I’ve had in some time. The service was excellent. The girl at the counter I believe her name was Paris, she had a super welcoming smile and bubbly personality. 10 out of 10 will be back and highly recommend!
A contemporary take on Mideastern/Afghan fare, in an accommodating setting. Take out is a breeze, food is prepared fast in the kitchen. The restaurant is small, and dining in. - while far from terrible - could be a bit better. But this isn’t a knock on the wonderful staff, excellent menu and clean environment. Check out their kabob plates, falafel wrap and shrimp skewers. The latter are unbelievably good! Highly recommended.
I love the food here! Great flavor and variety of dishes, some I've never heard of and dared to try. Very nice owners and friendly staff :) me and my friends plan to eat here together soon!
The grip this restaurant has on me is crazy!! The food is to die for, and the girl working the front couldn’t be better. The restaurant is very clean and organized. I also love the outdoor seating!! I’ve never seen a working go on there phone, or lean around they are always doing something. And their food taste amazing and I can tell it’s fresh. Highly highly recommend!!!!!
Excellent food! Fresh and delicious. Generous portions. Customer service is always pleasant and welcoming!
Portion sizes were really big, very flavorful food, prices weren’t bad at all! I got the chicken Shawarma wrap, it was like $11-$12, I got a lot of meat for the price though.
Greatest joint for Afghani food. Chicken kabab is super tender and juicy, beef kabab is sensational. Only thing I would change is the naan, and the meat/rice ratio is a little off, but aside from all that everything is phenomenal. Best part about it was that u don't feel bloated afterwards. The white sauce is AMAZING, would definitely reccomend to anyone.
Everything was amazing! My family loved their food, and we all shared and got to try a little of everything. It’s comforting to know what your eating is fresh and healthy! Even the desserts were fantastic. Great service and atmosphere too! I didn’t get any photos bc we ate it so fast!
I never leave reviews but this place is too good to not write one! Been here twice and both times it knocked my darn socks off
I love zaitoon it’s the peak of flavor and freshness! The food is made with love and everyone here is dedicated to making each bite the best it can be. Portions are so filling and every flavor is absolutely perfect. Zaitoon is the best option, look no further
The vibe here is relaxed and friendly. I had the lamb kebab wrap. It was delicious. The lamb was tender and balanced with the fresh vegetables. I wish I had also gotten one of their interesting desserts which I only noticed while I was waiting for my sandwich.
I get the Buffalo chicken kebab plate almost weekly. Pro tip: order extra creamy hot & hot sauce, it’s worth the extra dollar. I usually get 3 meals out of it, and it’s insanely good every time.
Amazing Fresh, Tasty, High quality. Highly recommended
I am Chef of 27 years. This food, hands down, is the best around. The multitudes of notes and flavor that hits your pallet are exquisite. The lemon notes and spices arouse my pallet and give a taste of the middle east I long for. Furthermore, the team and atmosphere are of the utmost professional. Kind and welcoming. 10 🌟 stars would be more appropriate.
Seriously so so good! Love their creamy hot sauce.
Best lamb kabob and chicken kabob! My husband and I were looking for a place to eat out and drive by Zaitoon Kitchen. We stopped by ordered 1 lamb kabob and 1 chicken kabob, the customer service is great and the place is very clean. Their kabobs were not only just tasty and well seasoned, but you also get a ton of food on your plate. The prices are amazing for the portions they give you. And to finish up we also ordered 2 chocolate pudding its delicious! It's rich, creamy, and has just the right amount of sweetness.
Best food in the area. Extremely clean and service is amazing. Staff are very friendly. Spicy chicken sandwich is the best I've ever had and the fries are fresh and crispy. The lamb and rice is amazing. Very affordable food and great desserts. Highly recommend to anyone interested in eating. Would drive an hour plus.
The food here was excellent, with high-quality taste at an affordable price. The staff were friendly. I had the mixed grill, and it was delicious—taking me back to my home country with its perfect seasoning. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic experience.
Fantastic. I tried the Jordanian Mansaf and the lamb shank was impossibly moist and tender. For a place that uses plastic silverware the presentation on the plate was what you would expect at a fine dining restaurant. You can tell they care about even the small things - the seats were very comfortable, the temperature was just right, and the volume of the music was just right. As I sat there on a weekday at 4:00 watching the rush hour traffic drive past, I thought about my own commute (in CT), and how I rarely stop anyplace because I just want to get home. Stop here! This place is a gem you shouldn't miss.
The only place I eat in Latham. This place has the best food. The meals are large, very tasteful and fresh. The desserts are all to brag about. I usually get two. The service is friendly and welcoming. Full of knowledge to taste and dietary concerns and gluten options. The owner always has a smile and makes sure that you like what you ordered. Waiting for food, the young lady called a customer back to make sure she wanted only one order. I don't know any other restaurants that do that. If you want a delicious meal with outstanding service, try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed
This is a great place to enjoy a nice meal, the atmosphere is clean, modern and very relaxing, the service is even better. The women who work in the front are very kind, energetic and extremely helpful 😊 They remember customers and engage in thoughtful conversation. The food is always good and never disappoints. The portions are respectable, nicely balanced and always look forward to having lunch at Zaitoon! If I could give 6 stars I would.
Great food and reasonable prices. I tried the stuffed grape leaves, baba ganoush, kibbeh and a beef/lamb kofta rice bowl. The kibbeh was AMAZING. The kofta was really tasty too. I love how the bowls contain chips , hummus, rice and a delicious vegetable stew. Love how they have a great selection of Middle Eastern desserts, including some from Meezan Kitchen. Furthermore, the young woman working was truly a customer service master. She was exceptionally kind to me and everyone who came in after-even knowing customers orders my memory! 😊
I am Lebanese and really enjoy all of the food here. They have had a lamb special for a while that is also spectacular. Must try it if near Troy / Latham
This is such a hidden gem in Latham neighborhood! I can’t believe how delicious the chicken kebab naan wrap is. Chicken marinated in curry is so tender and flavorful, along with LOTS of fresh veggies in one pocket. I especially love it as It is not overly seasoned nor salty! Definitely I will be back when nearing this area.
Came from NYC where there are so many amazing halal places and I have to say this is one of the bestest beef burger I have ever tried. Very juicy and just the right amount of flavor. I had the chipotle burger and it is a MUST try. The fries were also very crispy and tasty. I do just wish the bun was warmed up but still a 9/10.
Absolutely love everything about this place! We have been coming here for almost a year and i just love everything on their menu! highly recommend!
Cheap and tasty would be the most appropriate comment in this case. Had the fish with rice, it was juicy and tasted fresh. The chicken in the chicken kofta was also firm but not at all dry. The rice was perfectly spiced. Had adequate leafy greens on the side, I really liked the yoghurt sauce
This is the best food in the capital region!!! The shrimp wrap and shrimp fattoush salad are both excellent. The staff is so friendly, and they take good care of their customers. This is my go-to takeout, but they have a dining area if you decide to eat in person.
Food is so fresh and delicious- 10/10. The staff is so friendly too!
The place is quite unique and down to earth. I'm not sure what people expect when they write negative reviews for this place. The atmosphere inside was family-friendly, at the moment it made me feel like home, even though I'm not Lebanese. Employees were nice and friendly. The Food was very good and tasty. Portions were monstrously big, I've never seen shawarmas like these in my entire life. Food was prepared quite fast for the volume of my order. I wish they had more space inside so we could dine in. Thank you for a great experience.
I'm vegetarian and the pumpkin kibbeh is to die for!!! The portion of the rice plate was huge and so delicious. I ate in the restaurant and it was peaceful. Young lady at register was cleaning tables and asking how the food was prepared. So yummy 😋
You do not find prices this low, with such high quality, anymore. Except here. I am a vegetarian and they have great options for me. I get the falafel rice bowl for $10 and it lasts me three meals. They do not skimp out on the portions. My favorite part of the bowl is the vegetable stew; it’s so flavorful. Highly recommend this place for its affordability, vegan options, and genuinely flavorful & hearty food.
Afghan cuisine.. This is the place to visit. They have another outlet at Washington Ave ext (same place where you have Walmart and Home Depot) its self service, but their food and its taste is just awesome. Its a definite try out place in Albany. And dont forget to ask for the hot red sauce. It complements all food item you order.
This is the best halal food in the cap region hands down! They catered my friends wedding and I was craving the buffalo chicken kebabs so bad I had to go try it in resteraunt. Its has a cute esthetic and the food is so fresh and delicious and the service is super welcoming! 10/10 would recommend + great for the whole family!!
Update… well done. Thank you a very tasty Valentine’s Day meal that fit us three times over. Thank you again. disproportionately amounts. Too much rice. Not enough protein for the price. Beef kabob dry and hard to chew. Previous experience..Good start with Kabuli rice although again, masked with too much rice - not enough raisins/vegetable. Cannot justify posing extra in this economy.
All of their food is absolutely delicious!! I have tried almost everything on the menu and would definitely recommend their beef and lamb cheese burger , their fried onion chipotle burger , their Smokey buffalo chicken kabob rice plate and their fried meat kibbeh !! The meat is super tender and juicy ..They use fresh ingredients and their chipotle sauce is to die for !!
Delicious food. Decent portion sizes. Have been there multiple times and hope to go again.
Everything was so good!! Wish I could put 6/7 stars, the rice was bomb, the soup was amazing, and the naan was homemade and delicious. They definitely stepped up their game over the past year and I noticed and enjoyed immensely. Thank you for always being good but now even better. Also 10/10 customer service. Thank you!
We went in with a group of 6 people for lunch! The staff was super friendly and even reserved a table for us due to it being a busy Friday lunch. We all got a variety of dishes and all got a chance to try each others food! We loved every dish! The pies were so tasty, the shawarma was some of the best we have ever had! The mansaf and Mandi were my personal favorites! We all enjoyed everything from the food to the atmosphere. Will definitely be back to try more!
If you're a fan of family-owned businesses and love Arab food, you’ve got to check this place out! It has a clean and welcoming atmosphere, making it perfect for any occasion—whether you want to grab a meal solo, go on a date, or enjoy time with your family. The food is top-notch and really satisfying. And if you're in a rush, their pickup service is super convenient and quick. Plus, the staff is friendly and attentive, which really adds to the experience. So why not stop by and treat yourself to some delicious food? You won’t be disappointed!
Zaitoon makes great near Eastern specialties in wrap, bowl, and player format. We especially appreciate the excellent felafel. Service can be a little delayed during peak periods but has never been what I'd call slow: order ahead and you'll never have to wait. The dining room is super basic and a little cold during winter months, do we tend to take things to go, but it's fine for a quick casual lunch.
Their fries are the best fries I have ever had, no joke. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. Their other food is great too, I really like the beef/lamb gyro wrap and the falafel. It's well seasoned and the pickled veggies are a great balance. The pita is soft and holds up well. The portions are extremely generous; I got three full meals out of a lamb kebab plate once.
From a variety of chicken kebabs rice dishes and lamb chops to Shawarmas, to gyros, wraps and burgers, Zaitoon has everything and has been our go to for the past eight years. We have tried almost everything on their menu, the small plates and multi people platters, desserts and vegetarian dishes with friends and family. It's delicious, 5 STARS. My only disappointment here is the salad that comes with rice meal, I have had to throw that out almost every time because the lettuce leaves seem unclean or browning at places and I can count the cucumber and tomato pieces on my fingers. It is a sad salad :(
This place is awesome! The things my partner and I have tried thus far have been very tasty and fresh. The portions sizes are also decent. It's awesome to have a go-to place with flavorful, hearty vegan food that is ready for pick-up or delivery within 40 minutes or so. What we've tried thus far: Vegan Pumpkin Kibbeh Rice, Falafel Wrap, Baked Fish Rice Plate, Baked Fish Wrap, Lentil Soup (best after 1-2 days of resting), Falafel Burger
This was the first time at Zaitoon, and my mom and I both loved the dishes and atmosphere. The staff was courteous and engaging answering all questions we had about the dishes and even gave recommendations to our taste. Random fact, even though my mom said she was full around halfway through her dish, she still finished everything. It was a lucky find, and I will definitely return for more.
If you are a great fan of mild middle eastern food then this what you are looking for. It’s fresh, very healthy, best salad and very tasty baklava ( must try it). I think there prices are good not too high or low, staff was very friendly and was right on money when I entered the restaurant and took care of my order pretty fast, so 5 star for girls working there 😇. Must try the family platter and get a lot of tazziki sauce 😁. Enjoy 😉
My first time into Zaitoon, and I was a but nervous on what to expect. Zaitoon is good Halal food. The type you would get from the best street side vendors in NYC complete with all the accoutrements (big cheer for extra white sauce!!) Thier lamb kabobs we're flavorful and tender in all the best ways with absolutely no gaminess to the meat. The rice is just spot on from what I remember and loved about good Halal food. It fish the belly and the soul!
Really delicious food, but the tables were not clean and there was no service really other than bringing food to our table. We even had to get our own plastic ware. The food almost made up for that.
Love this place!! Usually good food. I've been a customer for over a year now but have there been menu changes recently? For the past few months whenever I order the chicken shawarma plate it tastes different more like the buffalo even when I make sure buffalo was not checked. Did the recipe change? I seem to remember a more yellow sauce with a different flavor. Everything else is wonderful:)
I was in town and starving. I wanted some good food and not a chain. Found this gem and was so happy with the outcome. The wait which is a bit longer than usual is worth it once you taste your food. I chose the chicken kabob wrap. The chicken was very tender and savory. The sauce was delicious although next time I’ll ask for a bit less. Overall very fresh and amazing taste.
Hahaaa Review time 🙂 This is for Monday 😋 1-service expectation -> good 2-quality of food -> good (first time) 3-clean less -> low 🙁 my desk and chair wasn't clean 4-drink menu-> could be better, like adding yogurt drink and stuff... (dough) 5- price 🤪🥳 great 👍 if you wana spend $10-$15 on fast food, don't do that honey, find zaitoon on google and enjoy fresh halal food. 6-recommended? Absolutely 😎 Zaitoon, your menu in our hospital right now, advertising to colleagues 😋 Don't mad for my 4 star, you have room for improvement 😉 Good luck 🍀
Love the food here. Everything is great here. We got the lambchops with rice and the beef lamb mix kofta in naan bread. Delicious and feels very authentic. You need to order at the counter and the food will be brought to you. The service is quick. Definitely recommend trying the lamb chops here.
This was my second time at this spot, and I had to come back because the fish was that good! On my first visit, I tried the whole five-piece fish meal with rice. Honestly, it was too much rice for me, but the fish still delivered—crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. On my second visit, I went for the fish wrap on naan bread. The naan was super thin, but the fillet was huge and packed with flavor. I asked for salad instead of fries, and they got that part right—definitely appreciate the flexibility. My husband ordered the grilled shrimp wrap this time around. The young lady at the register was polite and did her best to be accommodating. Unfortunately, during our first visit, some other patrons were being pretty rude, which messed with the vibe a bit. If you’re dining in, just be prepared—it’s a casual spot, and not everyone brings their manners. Still, the food quality makes it worth it. I’ll definitely be back!
I feel so bad writing this review like I haven't felt other times. This restaurant was rated so high that I was so eager to make it. The restaurant is centrally located and I discovered this restaurant while I was at another restaurant across the street. I googled it, and found to be better highly rated. I wonder why people don't market it. It's more like a self service restaurant, where you order at the counter and wait for the food. They have ample seating and while I was there, they did receive a lot of take out orders. The food arrived in a timely fashion, but my issue was with my main dishes that I ordered...a spicy sandwich for my son....the chicken was either old as it was way to fibery almost like a gum. Bolagni, had a weird smell, usually smells that way when oil is a lil old. Shawarma on a nan roll combo, I ordered fries as a side and the fries was stuffed into the shawarma, which was odd. The grape leaves was good. Overalls based on the reviews my expectations were high and that definitely were not met. I will probably go in again, giving them the benefit of doubt and leave the review neutral. The value for money is pretty well as the pricing is reasonable.
Lamb chops are always burnt, unlike at Aria Kabab. Gyro was good, except that I didn't know it had pickled veg, which I picked out.
I wouldn’t recommend dining in unless you enjoy music blasting in your ear the entire time. I could barely hold a conversation with my partner or hear the staff, even though they were trying their best to explain things clearly. I asked if the volume could be lowered one of the employees kindly asked on my behalf but nothing changed. It really took away from the experience. On a better note, the food was good. The fried fish was excellent, and they do have a great variety of options. But honestly, I’d probably order takeout next time.
Portion size was large. But we got stomach issue from the food. Meat was stale. Food was very bland too. Not recommended
None of the food we ate tasted fresh. The tabouleh salad was devoid of any bulgur wheat. Everything was tasting sour and it seemed that they have used lemon to preserve everything so that they can be served for days/weeks! Quality was mediocre at best. Worst mid-eastern food tasted ever. With so many other options in the area, will never be going back here!
A friend asked me to try it out. I ordered the chicken kabob rice bowl, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. I counted four chunks of chicken broken into smaller pieces to make the bowl appear fuller. The nan crisps were burned, not crisp; the super cold hummus directly on top of the warm rice didn’t really help keep the rest of bowl/ food warm. We asked to dine in yet were given paper bowls rather than the traditional glass bowl the table next to us had. It tasted like a mosh pit of slightly warm food leftover from my our Sunday dinner. For 14 dollars (w/ a can) they could’ve done a little better. Not to mention, I am writing this review 5 hrs later with a stomach ache.
Update: The staff is courteous as usual but seems like the chef is replaced. My last two experiences were not great. The first time, they messed up my order and forgot to add the white sauce to my chicken kebob wrap. It was very dry and inedible. The second time, I got two cream puffs and both of them were hollow from inside, just the cream on the side.
The food tastes good but is not worth the price in my opinion. I ordered the lamb kabob and rice take out and was very disappointed when I got home. For $12.96 I got a side salad, 3.35oz of lamb and 3 cups of rice, no one needs 3 cups of rice in one meal. I gave it 2 stars for the taste only
nah bro fr idk why everyone hyping this place for cuz the food was a solid 1/5 💀 like cmon now i took one bite and immediately regretted it. everything was so bland it felt like they literally forgot spices exist?? only W was the service the girl takin my order was real friendly & patient 🙏🏾 but the food? nah fr it’s a hard pass
Honstley, I advise all to not go there. I am Arabic. That means I knew all details about it's minue. Moreover, I work in Arabic kitchen,, that means I can rate any food. Falafel is not falafel. Shawrma is the worest and NOT Sharma. Even the chicken you can't eat it. Grilled meat is not well and cold. Inside the restaurant tow table were derty. What is make me angry is you have a restaurant and you have staff you have ingredients.... Why coukd not you make good food?? I can't believe this is a restaurant. I am sad because he must have long waiting line. I am sorry, I now it is bad review. But if I found bad reviews, I would not go there. I swear that 3 kids did not eat the Showrma. In Arabic culture, Sharma is the best for kids. They would not mind eat Shawrma twice daily. Please, bring good staff. It is reputation of your work.
I don't know what happened but the food quality went down. we ordered 2 days ago and it was beyond disgusting.I had to throw it out....
I have called them more than 42 times just to pick up my order but no one answer the phone - they keep the handle off just not answer the calls - if you do not want to provide service then go out of business
The food is awful which leads me to believe other reviews are done as courtesy. I ordered Felafel, Hummus and Baba Ghanouj. Felafel tasted very poor and was served over red rice! Separate the rice and lower the price because Felafel shouldn't be served with rice, Hummus and Baba Ghanouj were just a processed cans opened and served, we can vuy cans and open them without needing to drive and pay too much for lunch. My family ordered Shawarma which simply pieces if meat fried in a pan with low quality oil! We know how to fry meat far better but Shawarma is another meal if you ever heard of it. They served two small pieces of Persian or Afghani bread which is not the right type of bread to combine with Mediterranean food because bread seves as scooper and dipper. I can't say enough how awful this restaurant was
The food was honestly disappointing dry meat bland sides and the naan tasted old! Nothing felt fresh or worth the price Wouldn’t come back
I was really disappointed with my experience at Zaitton Kitchen. The food was bland and didn’t taste fresh at all, especially for the price. Our order took a long time to come out, and when it finally arrived, it was cold. The service wasn’t great either staff seemed uninterested and rushed. Overall, it didn’t meet expectations and I don’t think I’d come back or recommend it.
Terrible experience. The food was extremely dirty and tasted awful. I honestly don’t know how this place is still open. Everything looked unhygienic and the flavor was just bad. I couldn’t even finish my meal. I will never come back here again and I don’t recommend this place to anyone.
I placed a delivery order on DoorDash for the butter chicken, and I was extremely disappointed. The gravy tasted more like tomato soup than traditional butter chicken, and the chicken pieces were simply boiled instead of using the usual roasted tikkas. This was not authentic butter chicken at all. Take our advice — do not order this. I would never order it again.
I tried Zaitoon Kitchen and honestly the food had a really bad taste. Nothing tasted fresh or good at all everything was just off. The lamb was actually raw, and my friends meals were the same totally gross. The only thing I liked was the white sauce that was the only decent part of the meal. Other than that, I wouldn’t go back again.
