Great stay for our 17th weddjng anniversary. Special mention to Jade in the brasserie for her attentive service on Saturday night. We will be back soon.
Brilliant hotel, friendly helpful staff, beautifully decorated. We stayed new years eve and brought our dog. The staff all welcomed him and gave him fusses and he was very comfortable in the room. Leaving one happy pooch and 2 very relaxed humans. Will definitely stay again and I highly recommend this hotel. Even just for the size of the bath tub which I will say was the best bubble bath I've ever had. This hotel thought of everything and we wanted for nothing
Really nice place with great staff. Zainab at reception was amazing and sorted everything for me so quickly and with a big smile and friendly attitude. Will be using this hotel again next time I’m working in the centre of Leeds
Had a lovely stay! The receptionist (think she was called sherrie) I couldn't understand her handwriting but she was great!
We only ate here but was best afternoon tea I've had...efficient speedy service and friendly helpful staff
My wife and I stayed here over the weekend and were unfortunate to be caught up in the room booking system outage. This meant that unfortunatly the room we had put our luggage in was given to another guest while we were away in the city centre. On our return we were unable to get into our room and/or retrieve our luggage. Normally this would have ruined our stay, but the staff were incredible during what must have been a really bad day for them too. Of particular note were Marta, Cheryl and Ionia (sorry if I've misspelt their names).
Quiet and comfortable and convenient to train and shopping. We had two fabulous meals in the restaurant… the best since arriving in England. Thursday night half price steaks - flat iron and filet - and sides were cooked perfectly. Great desserts, too. Breakfast was better than that of our 5 star hotel in York. Fresh and hot with more options than the usual heavy English fare. Only one caveat, stairs from street to reception and the step down from tub/shower may be tricky for some.
Wonderful Christmas lunch our son and his wife. Would definitely go again, it was such a treat. Thank you to the staff for making it very special.
Gorgeous comfortable rooms. Fantastic breakfast. Location is perfect and discounted parking just down the road.
Had an afternoon tea. The food was wonderful, much better than just a few finger sandwiches and a scone. The staff where very friendly and helpful, when they found out we where celebrating our 50 wedding anniversary we where given a glass of champagne. Would recommend everyone to go and try it
Five-Star Stay at Malmaison Leeds for Pride 🌈 Stayed at Malmaison Leeds during Pride weekend and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From check-in to check-out, everything was seamless. The room was spotless, stylish, and super comfortable — a perfect base to relax and recharge during such a fun-filled weekend. A special shoutout to Lorna, who went above and beyond to make our stay extra memorable. She was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful — nothing was too much trouble. It’s rare to meet staff who genuinely care, and she made a real difference to our visit. The location is perfect for exploring the city and soaking up the Pride atmosphere. Thank you, Malmaison Leeds, for such a fabulous stay — we’ll definitely be back!
We came for afternoon tea and the service was impeccable, a lovely gent working the bar area served us primarily and the rest of the staff brought drinks and food over with a smile and an explanation of why we were receiving every single time, loved it, felt so attentive, wonderfully adapted for vegans and vegetarians (diff options too!)
Lovely rooms, great price. Took a long time to check in. Good fast room service and menu
Excellent all round and worth booking direct for the extras. Will return when next in Leeds. Seamless check in too.
I've been stopping here on a regular basis and wouldn't stop anywhere else. Staff are very friendly and experienced with a professional outlook. The rooms are serviced well and maintained to a high standard. The cocktail bar 🍹 is well stocked, and the drinks are served to a very high standard 👍 There is a bonus too. If you have more than a 1 night stay you can forfeit a room clean for 2 free Cocktails at the bar. Also, as it was my wife's birthday, we were upgraded with our room and 2 complimentary drinks at the bar from the reception staff. Thank you to all the team for a fantastic stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The hotels location great for a night out and close to the train station. We drove and it was a short walk from a multi story car park which is discounted by the hotel on check out. We had a table booked for a bottomless brunch so arrived in the bar with our bags. The staff sat us at the table and took our bags and put them in a secure room till we where ready to check in. The food was very nice and service was attentive and cheerful. When we went to check in we had requested a room upgrade which they had offered us via email but was told they didn't have any when we checked in which was slightly disappointing. We got to the room and it's was very nice so the disappointment was short lived. The bed was very comfy and bigger than anticipated from the room information at booking. This is the 1st time we have stayed in a Malmasion but will definitely be booking more if this experience is anything to go by.
We stayed in a club room, which was lovely. Super comfy beds, coffee machine, robes, room service - all perfect. Only one slight niggle…the lady on reception seemed a little flustered on our arrival when I asked if I could put some items in my stored luggage, she had previously forgotten to give us our luggage storage tickets and then mixed us up with another couple waiting for their luggage who had a waiting taxi outside, we wouldn’t have mentioned this as anyone could have an off day and all was sorted in the end - otherwise we had a perfectly lovely stay.
Fantastic weekend. Upgraded to a club room was delighted either it. Spacious, great design and very comfortable. Booked bottomless brunch on the Saturday, three course meal ordered steak which was cooked to perfection. Endless Prosecco followed. We had to skip dessert was so full. Sunday booked roast dinner with glass champagne. Very good value, quality was superb and tons of veg sides. Matthew attended service both days and was outstanding, very helpful, courteous and professional a great ambassador for Malmaison. Couldn’t fault the entire weekend. Can’t wait to do it again
Went here for the bottlemless brunch with friends. Had a brilliant time, the waiter Matt really looked after us, always smiling and made sure everyone had everything they needed. The food was brilliant, the chicken dish is had was the best cooked chicken I've had in such a long time, it was so tasty. Definitely recommend and will be going again soon.
Next to 2 multistorie car parks with others nearby. The hotel has an arrangement with certain car parks to offer a £10 reduction per day. The breakfast was excellent. A full English breakfast with other hot alternatives. Then a complete buffet of cereals , yogurts , fruits and juices. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
What a lovely experience! We paid for an upgrade and it was well worth it. We loved the reward system in place for choosing not to have our room serviced or towels changed for the three nights we stayed. The tea/coffee etc. was replenished every day, as usual. We had virtually free cocktails for two nights with the vouchers issued to us. We were very happy, and the hotel did their bit for the environment, winners all round! On our last night, we ate in the restaurant, and it was wonderful. The creme brulee was especially impressive... The breakfasts were fantastic, beautifully presented and very very tasty. A really good selection of cooked options too, and beautifully cooked. I had the best eggs benedict ever! Quality ingredients too. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially the young girl in the restaurant and bar, she made our meal even more special. The young lady at reception (Zeinab) booked us in and out for our stay. She was so welcoming and interested about our visit to Leeds. We told her about our planned visit to the ballet and she asked if we had enjoyed it when we checked out! That's good service. So, top marks to this quirky hotel, we will be back. Nancy and Barry Forster
Lovely hotel, last visited 6 years ago and still as good as it was the last time. Great vibe and ambiance, my room - a Club - was very large, extremely clean, and comfortable. Nice little touches like four Nespresso pods, fancy tea, nice biscuits and a couple of Ferraro Rochers. Beds incredibly comfortable, couldn’t hear any noise at all, and black out curtains kept out the light! It was my birthday stay and was pleasantly surprised to receive a voucher for two free cocktails in the hotel bar. The bartender was fab, environment was great - 10/10 all round for the stay and would def come back. Price/performance ratio excellent.
Just returned from a 1 night stay ... Very welcoming reception staff.. The room was one of the best rooms we've ever stayed in. Breakfast spot on and friendly waiting staff. Would highly recommend 👌
Beautiful rooms and very comfortable beds. Modern, clean and great bar downstairs. Staff helpful and polite. Would definitely stay again
5* experience from start to finish! We read some reviews that suggested the hotel was cold, so we called ahead and spoke to a super helpful lady called Zeinab who advised the hotel was a very old building and it could be on the cooler side to some, but recommended that on our reservation we asked for a ‘warmer’ room. She also asked if it was a special occasion which it was (our 8 year wedding anniversary). My husband called before our arrival to ask if they received our special request and Zeinab answered again and confirmed it had and looked forward to us checking in. Upon checking, we had a wonderful room on the 3rd floor over looking the river. It was warm, it also had a huge fluffy blanket and plug in radiator. Not only this but we also had a lovely anniversary card with 2 complimentary glasses of fizz! The room Was spacious. Clean, modern. Bathroom had a bath and shower. Toiletries you’d expect along with water, coffee pods, iron, hair dryer etc. would definitely recommend! Especially if you have the pleasure of dealing with Zeinab. Will be back again for sure.
Simply lovely. The lamb was too good and with red wine perfect.
I was pleasantly surprised when staying here at Malmaison a while ago. Firstly there's a lot of reviews stating how it needs a bit of a refresh and in some areas this is true. However besides that everything else is top notch. The rooms have everything you need, aren't just regular box rooms, very comfy beds. A nice change from other hotels is the water temperature and more importantly water pressure is unbelievable. Never have I stayed anywhere with a better shower than here! The lobby and surrounding areas are well kept, albeit a little dated. Staff did seem to take a while to get you checked in and then was confused when checking out as they give you a free room upgrade (great!) But then tell you that you owe them money for the upgrade at the end (not great!). But after some messing about this all got resolved. Overall a great stay in a great location.
Went here for afternoon tea on a wowcher. It did take a while to arrive however it was excellent!! So much food for the price you paid and staff were so attentive - would be very happy to come back ! Thank you Rooms only left blank as we didn’t stay
Had a lovely afternoon tea celebrating my sisters birthday. The food was lovely and really tasty. Matthew, who was our server was so lovely and attentive. Definitely an asset. Thanks for a lovely afternoon
Great place, staff were really friendly, room was great. Parking at the q park isn't cheap so be prepared.
Only been to the bar but the staff are lovely and the cocktails really good! Recommend for a drink even if you're not staying here.
We had a great stay down in Leeds. Celeste F who was extremely helpfully host and got us checked in early and very kindly gifted us a drinks voucher to celebrate a new job start in Leeds. She even went as far as recommending great local food spots. Hopefully when we are back we can stay in the same room 409 - great views 👌🏼
Great service, staff very accommodating and welcoming. Perfect location for the city big rooms with nice decor and spotlessly clean
The hotel is super close to the station and everything else in Leeds centre. We had an amazing stay, the room was super comfortable and they even set up a little station for our dog including a goody bag which was so cute! Can’t recommend enough!
Stayed for 1 night for a gig at the arena. Friendly welcome and check in and the room was lovely with floor to ceiling river views. Very comfortable beds. The only key down was the bathroom ‘with a view’ strangely also with a floor to ceiling window right next to the toilet and quite tatty with flaking paint and chipped tiles. Good value for money overall just needs some attention to detail in the lavs
Overall a nice hotel. Have to take away few points for no complimentary water in the room (not even purchasable from minibar). Rooms nice, clean - well suited for a night or two. Breakfast very good but coffee needs reviewed - better machine and beans needed. Parking not available but the recommended Qpark is very close.
Lovely Hotel, spacious rooms, and the beds are huge. Could have done with a fridge, but the room had everything else needed. Saturday night, the music is bumping, and the windows are double glazed, which does dampen the noise from the club just up the road. The staff were really helpful and polite. Coffee and tea making facilities.
Decent hotel with nothing to write home about but being located close to the train station and the city centre makes it ideal for business visits. They also offer to hold on to your bags after checkout so that is helpful for working professionals.
Great hotel and room, restaurant looked very good, although we didn't eat there on this occassion, fantastic proximity to the city centre with everything close by that you could possible want. Although we had a slight issue with the bathroom (coating peeling away from the bath) which meant we requested to change rooms (partner was looking forwards to having a soak all day!), the staff were great and resolved for us without issue or delay. For the sake of a little more than a typical budget hotel (such as one across the road), I'd happily confirm that its worth paying that little extra for the extra room and additional comforts such as a coffee machine, fridge (with 2 complimentary bottles of water) and bathrobes and slippers!
I have used this hotel a couple of times in the last few weeks. I have used the conference facilities on two separate occasions. One occasion stayed in the hotel. Rooms were very nice. Beds comfortable. Easy walking distance into Leeds. I would recommend this hotel for both an overnight stay and for conference use.
We stayed here last Friday as we were taking in a concert at the arena, We chose this hotel specifically for the location, just a 15 min walk and close to the city centre. Easy to find when driving in and the car park booking (Q Parks) worked a treat, Check in was swift and easy, the room was ready 30 mins prior to check in which was a bonus. The upgraded room was nice, no problems with noise up on the 4th floor and the room facilities were as you would expect. Nothing flashy that blew your mind but it was a good size, very clean and a nice bathroom. Food wise we only ate Breakfast there and it was very good. I tried a bit of the chef's grenola and it was the best I have had anywhere, seriously. The full English was on point, a nice sized portion without going over the top. My only gripe would be the bar and breakfast area, it was too dark in there for my liking, I appreciate it's in the cellar so there wasn't much natural light but the decor was dark and drab too. It needs brightening up to put you in a good mood. Overall it was a great overnight stay, we go to Leeds often and we have stayed in numerous hotels but providing it remains competitively priced, it will be our go to hotel in the future
A fabulous hotel, and a great cocktail bar. They make a wicked old fashioned. Dropped a star for a slightly disappointing toasted sarnie I ordered from room service. Didn't really match the otherwise high standards of the hotel. My room was awesome, the Surrealism Suite. Particularly if you are a fan or hippos. Extremely comfy bed although being centrally located it is a bit noisy into the early hours outside. It didn't bother me but it might others. Room price was pretty steep and it didn't include breakfast which just felt quite stingy. If you are paying 300+ for a hotel room breakfast I think should be part of the deal. Nonetheless, I had a fabulous stay. Highly recommended.
Hotel room was a good size, nice and clean. Didn't look tired. Breakfast was very nice in the morning, big thumbs up. Only issue was that due to the location it was really noisy at night. The staff did say that the other end of the hotel is much quieter if you actually want to sleep 🤷🏻♂️ probably good if you didn't go on a Friday or Saturday.
We stayed in a club deluxe room for 1 night. The check in was quick yet polite and informative. We decide to purchase breakfast at £22 per person and received a voucher for a free drink each in the bar which we used that night for 2 excellent cocktails. The room was quiet, clean and very comfortable. With good size bathroom, mini fridge, coffee maker and great options for Teas aswell it was definitely well worth the price we paid and could not be happier. However, at £22 per person for what I could best describe as a Wetherspoons quality cooked breakfast with cold bacon, rubbery black pudding, tepid scrambled eggs and a cheap sausage served on a cold plate I left feeling disappointed. My partner was put off from the continental selection due to fruit flies and the coffee wasn't as good as the one I'd just made myself in the room. We'd definitely stay again but find somewhere local for breakfast.
Loosing its sparkle. Rooms are comfy and clean and well designed but now needs a lick of paint as walls well marked and some bits looking tired, room was cold could not get air con to heat the room so was cold. Staff lovely but on the evening only 2 staff covering Bar and Restaurant and same for breakfast, which meant tables left dirty and our plates not removed after finishing. Not the usual Mal standard. Unfortunately breakfast at £23pp was expensive and served on a cold plate. Eggs had to be recooked as requested soft but served hard. Staff were accommodating but we had to wait to get their attention meaning breakfast went cold. A complimentary “glass” of fizz was offered to my wife for her birthday which was a lovely touch, but for here last birthday we both got one. Would stay again but maybe would not stay for breakfast.
Good points. Price was excellent, same price as Travelodge over the road and way way better. A nice room with a massive comfy bed. Clean and very plush. A decent size room and the shower was epic. Friendly staff and an altogether nice environment to be in. Things that could be better. Booked online and paid in advance which is great…. Then it was over complicated by them phoning and asking if I was coming alone (booked for 1 and paid for 1)… arrived to discover they’d added someone to my booking and wanted money for additional breakfast etc… got sorted but, why over complicate it? Couldn’t get TV to work (minor issue) A beer was £7.20 (!!!) in the bar. £7.20!!!! Location was noisy, a lot of noise from street late into night. Hotel was noisy from very early on. Overall… much better than average chain hotel and in a handy location. Comfy and clean but if you want a pint, there’s many excellent pubs within a 5 min walk.
Sadly not up to the usual standard! Check-in was great. Super friendly staff and a free upgrade to a larger room. Thank you. Communal areas are nice but the hallways and rooms feel dated and in need of a modern refit. Bathroom not spotless. Looked like there had been a leak above the shower and mould visible over the bath. Double bed was two singles pushed together. Not comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing too. The lads serving were doing their best, but they needed help. Order took ages and then, when it arrived, it was stone cold. Decaf coffee (I can’t have caffeine) was definitely not decaf. I left, heart racing, never to return.
Stayed here, however the club over the road had music on all night and resulted in no sleep.
Service for check in / out was quick and efficient. Location is good enough, guess that's relative. Room positives - Good size. Good selection of coffee / tea Room neutrals - No view in the room I was given (well a fire escape and half empty office space) Bed was fine. Room negatives - No bottled water offered Very dark even with every conceivable light on. Room temperature wouldn't go below 19c. The bathroom (specifically the bath/shower) had to be one of the worst designed I have ever seen. I am fully mobile and not big.. and it was touch and go if I was going to break something trying to get into the shower as was in the corner over the bath with a glass curtain that wouldn't open out meaning you have to attempt to hover over the baths side with nothing to hold onto into the bath end which wasn't flat (as it's the end) .. very dangerous imho. Also was then impossible to check the temperature of the taps for the bath without getting fully in due to them being out if reach in the corner...
Great shower and comfortable beds. Rooms a little small but well appointed. Toilet in the room didn't flush well and fill neat to the top of the bowl. Toilets in the restaurant; 1 urinal taped off. The regular gents toilet didn't flush at all.
Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding, rooms were clean and needs met by kind cleaning staff. Cocktails in bar/lounge area were nice but not adequate staff so was long waits. Food was so disappointing and such a small menu!! So we had booked for a larger table the night before the wedding, I had ordered a burger which was dry and burnt, missing items and food taking an 1hour and 40 mins to even get to the table, dietary requirements completely over looked despite being discussed before! Poor customer service skills from a blonde haired ignorant waitress who completely disregarded complaints and sighed at the customers and walked off! such a shame as the hotel is lovely and in a great location but the food and service downstairs was awful.
The boardroom was very warm as the aircon was broken and we couldn’t focus on any of the talks. Especially for the hotter days of year the cooling system should’ve been checked prior.
Nice rooms and good location. Zero for service - tried to get some dinner ordered as room service (having a migraine and not able to leave and walk to eat somewhere). Have been told that I have to wait at least an hour with a laugh by receptionist. I wanted bread and a cheese board, so no cooking there whatsoever.
Really Disappointed – Not What I Booked or Expected I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to after this experience. I booked a Club Deluxe Room through Booking.com, but when I arrived, the check-in staff told me they had a Twin Room booked instead. I showed them my confirmation, which clearly stated Club Deluxe, but they wouldn’t take any responsibility. Instead, I was told to take it up with Booking.com — as if it had nothing to do with them. That didn’t sit right with me.It’s probably worth reminding the hotel staffthat Booking.com is an intermediary service that connects guests with hotels and charges hotels a commission for doing so. Booking.com may handle the reservation, but at the end of the day, I paid the hotel — and I expected them to honour the room I booked. A hotel that values its guests would at least try to fix the issue or find a solution. Instead, I was downgraded to a smaller room and still charged the original price for a larger room (I paid for Club deluxe as stated above). The room itself was disappointing: small, extractor fan wasn’t working, and the cupboards were visibly scuffed. Not the kind of room I thought I’d be getting. They did offer a late checkout, which I appreciated, but I still had to ask housekeeping to lower their voices in the hallway while I was trying to rest. Honestly, if I had known the room I booked wouldn’t be available, I would have booked elsewhere. I left feeling really let down by the lack of care and accountability. Not an experience I’d want to repeat.
Stayed here for two days. We found water entering our bedroom from the bathroom, despite the bathroom and bedroom being separated by a thick wall. We immediately told staff the next morning but they brushed it under the carpet and said they would investigate when we leave. They accused us of overfilling the bath tub, which never was. The bathroom was bone dry. I will never again be staying at a Malmaison hotel and worry for anyone staying in room 428.
I visited for a quick afternoon business lunch and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We ordered soup and a BLT sandwich and were initially looked after by the gentleman behind the bar, who was fantastic — polite, attentive, and professional. After 37 minutes, he informed us there had been an issue in the kitchen and asked if we were willing to wait longer. Given the time already passed, we explained we couldn’t wait much longer, yet we still waited another 8–10 minutes and the food never arrived. he did offer another glass of wine, but unfortunately, this was Not appropriate due to driving. Later When a member of staff came to the table and asked if she could help, I politely requested that she check on our order as we had already been waiting over 30 minutes. Her response was, “I doubt that,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. At that point, we decided to leave and requested a refund, but no one was able to process it. We were told the managers were in a meeting next door. When I went to request assistance, the assistant manager seemed more annoyed about the meeting being interrupted than concerned about resolving a customer issue. Overall, the handling of the situation was extremely poor. Waiting that long without food is frustrating, but the dismissive attitude and lack of accountability were what truly disappointed us. Unfortunately, not a good experience I have this morning received an email saying my refund will be processed in the next 10 days you couldn’t make it up.
If you want to pay for the privilege of staying at a nice hotel but having your sleep disrupted……. Don’t stay in room 307 if you want to sleep after 6am. The window is not fitted correctly and will wake you up as it ‘clicks’ as the sun expands the frame. The clinking continued for an hour before I decided that I wasn’t going to get any further sleep. Staff poorly trained on costomer relations.“I’m sorry sir” really doesn’t cut it’s that extra hour was needed as I’d driven 5 hours that day and have a further 5 hours of driving a head of me. Nothing offered by way of compensation! (Tip: the continental breakfast is over priced @ £18. Go to Cafe Nero - 2 mins away and you’ll find the same things at a faction of the price)
