The Rainbow 🌈 Junction is open weekends only so far. The new owners are super friendly. The food has been satisfying, fresh and delicious the couple times I’ve been there. Gluten-free and vegetarian options available. They hope to extend hours to include dinner. Camping is available on hipcamp. Great spot for stargazing. We saw a great view of the comet. Friendly staff. Plenty bicycles and motorcycles stop and hang out.
The cafe's atmosphere is somewhere between old West saloon and 50's diner. Very welcoming, friendly owners and staff are on board weekends for lunch or for camping in one of the primative, or if you prefer, "glamp" sites. Lots of trails and interesting views
This place is so great! The road leading up to it is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful in California. And at the end of it is rainbow junction! Great burgers, and camping, and a beautiful hike over the hills (for campers only) and coming soon are the done sites for glamping! Do not miss this opportunity for a perfect one day excursion.
It’s a decent rest zone for a leisure drive, place is clean, shaded outside seating, fast WiFi, and food is good enough
My bike buddy and I were doing a loop starting from San Jose and culminating in a climb (and descent) of Mt. Hamilton from Mines Road this past Sunday. Stopped at Rainbow Junction for a quick bite - split an order of garlic fries and had a strawberry lemonade. Both excellent - the fries were perfectly seasoned and salted. Of course when you're getting ready to climb the back side of Hamilton, carbs and salt are an absolute must! There was a big group of friendly motorcyclists enjoying their lunches there as well and we had a nice chat with them. Only open on the weekends, but if you're a cyclist in the area make sure to plan your ride to stop here for eats and drinks. They have a huge selection of beverages to choose from! Operated by friendly folks and also they have wi-fi and accept cards and electronic payments (Apple/Google Pay) which is especially appreciated since the last owners were cash only. We'll be back!
Great spot to stop off and grab something to drink and a burger. Good food, good people, good times. Worth the ride out!
Awesome stop while driving between the bay and the valley. Nice selection of on tap beers and comfort food. I had a classic burger and it was pretty tasty! Owners are very friendly and they also had a couple of regulars inside as well. Good place to stop to take a break from driving to have a nice conversation and some eats 😁
Awesome place to stop for a burger and a beer! Great new owners and the menu is growing. The ride/ drive out there is worth going by itself. 100% will be back and recommend!!!
Stopped here coming down the hill from the observatory. Did not have a meal here due to other plans, but hung out, visited, and used the restroom. The people that were working were friendly. Is a convenient place to stop and is pretty remote. They have outdoor tables and would work for dogs too.
This is a nice hamburger joint and bar on hwy 130, 30 minutes drive East from Lick Observatory. Staff is very friendly. I had the blue cheese burger with fries and wife had the turkey sandwich. The burger patty was great, lettuce tomato and pickles very good. Fries were crisp and tasty. The bun could have been more fresh, but hey, that's a tiny place with little traffic two hours from the nearest bakery, so not much to complain. The turkey sandwich was excellent. The place closed some time back but now they open Fri/Sat/Sun 10AM-9PM and they plan on adding Monday soon. There were a few bikes in the parking lot and a few locals that stopped by for lunch. The place is small and well heated with a fireplace. Restroom was clean. This is a nice spot to take a break on your bike ride from San Jose to Patterson or Livermore. There are outdoor tables too. Haven't tried the bar. Maybe next time...
This place is so nice. Tucked in the middle of nowhere, it is a friendly oasis set up for laid back folks that like to ride (motorcycles or bicycles). The new owners have brought in barbecue and so far (twice) I have been very pleased with what I've had. The outdoor seating is great and I love the dogs hanging out...Keep up the good job and thanks for being there!
best place in town, of course its also the only place within many miles! This place is actually a great stop when exploring the mostly unknown and unpopulated San Antonio valley. Friendly staff, good selection of local brews and usual bar/grill fare done well. Popular on weekends for motorcyclists touring the scenic locale -
What a little hidden gem! After a beautiful motorcycle ride with my best friend and love of my life, we stopped off here for a cold beverage. Under the tall trees we sat in two rocking chairs and enjoyed a cold Berry White beer. Not sure if the atmosphere made the beer taste better or if we just happened upon a new favorite beer in a beautiful spot...but either way it's a day to remember! We'll be back!
It's out in the middle of nowhere so the prices reflect that, but I still consider them reasonable since the food is very good. The restrooms were clean and well stocked so it's a great place for a bathroom break and a meal if you're in that area, especially considering the nearest toilet in that area is at Frank Raines Regional Park, and they are disgustingly filthy (early 2018). New owners, great food, milkshakes that are so thick you might need a spoon to eat it. I did. Plenty of parking, right on the junction of two main roads. I recommend this place to all travelers in the area.
This is such an fun rustic diner. Board games, good vibes, great food, all in an immaculate atmosphere. The location is other worldly but still in range of practically the whole bay area. The drive itself is worth it but you really have to see it to believe it!
This place is really cool 😎 a lot of bikers come here food is amazing .its like a hidden gem spot we had the chicken wrap and some garlic fries
Beautiful drive up and lunch was spectacular. Well be back soon and maybe camp out too!
Re-opened in March 2024, pictures is Nate the new proprietor. Super views, easy menu and food prepped on the spot, selection of cold beverages in cans/bottles. I could sit in the reading room all day and hang out. What a great stop along CA-130.
Recently went to The Junction since it reopened. They have updated a few items in the menu. They have a grilled chicken sandwich and a “Jerry Burger”, which is 1/2 pound of short rib meat. Both were excellent. In addition, they added popcorn chicken to the menu. Lastly, they are now CASH ONLY. So bring cash as there are no ATM’s within an hour in all directions.
Motorcycle friendly bar with a food menu & friendly staff. Bar area and restroom were clean. Food was good. Beer was cold. Tables both inside & outside. A great little spot in the middle of no where . Would recommend and will visit again.
This is a small, apparently family owned place, in the middle of nowhere. The location is really remote, which makes it a thing for people who like to drive through mountain roads, motor and pedal bikers. The menu is limited, but sufficient. The food was well presented and tasty. I got the traditional burger and enjoyed it quite a lot. They also have a side of sweet potato tots that is not to be missed. I'd go there more often if it didn't take two hours to drive there through winding mountain roads. Or maybe that's exactly a reason to go there again.
Great place to get a meal. Friendly service and good food. Motorcycle friendly.
Love the nice and cozy off the road. burger taste delicious, especially after a long ride. A few drafts to pick from light to double IPA. Had the Crossroads Burger. Double Patty with bacon. Just enough for the rest of day's full advanture!
Quality food and friendly service. Primarily woman owned and run, which is something to support I feel. There was a live band playing last time I went, and overall production of the event was very good, especially given the location. Some nice vintage mustangs were also on display...
We enjoyed a ride to The Junction on Wednesday. The food was good and the staff was friendly. The establishment was clean and the other people who stopped there were also nice and friendly.
Fabulous place, with Great food and Fantastic customer service! I was so impressed with how fast and friendly the staff was. Even when they were swamped with cyclists and motorcycle riders, they started calm, friendly, and efficient. I'm thrilled with the new ownership, and wish them the very best!
It is a very cool Motorcycle Friendly place. Our server is very nice and pleasant to talk to. Plus she is a Babe! Lol. We didnt eat there but the food looked excellent!! Going to eat there next time for sure.
I had the most spectacular pickle fries I've ever had anywhere. After a brief discussion with the chef and one of the other employees I learned it's because they add Masa into their batter and take the time to properly cut up pickle spears to maintain the small french fry shape. The burger was also quite exceptional with a high quality meat grilled to order and fresh vegetables for toppings.
Great place for a fantastic burger, glass of wine or beer. Always super polite and accommodating staff.

On a Hamilton ride and bummed to have just missed the open hours. But wait! The super nice owner came out and offered water and to open up just to sell us all some cold beverages, really helped make the day. Such a cute spot, can’t wait to time it better and come back to enjoy the food as well!
Hidden gem on the southern end of mines rd. Decided to swing by here while on a gallivant this afternoon. Glad I did, lots of folks on bikes out enjoying the beautiful weather.

Surprisingly great fries for a place with zero competition! Also an amazing lemonade slushy. Add milkshakes and it will be perfection.
Standard burger joint with good service. They also had tamales, fish tacos, etc. Not fancy, but good food. The young lady at the counter was very sweet and did her best to sell me a milkshake but I held strong. They had 5 or 6 wines from from around ca. 5 or six beers, not Coors, Corona bud ... real beers. My burger was medium to med. rare, so be sure to order it the way you like it. I'd definitely go again If in the area.
Great little place in the middle of nowhere! Burgers and beer, or Gatorade and salad... whatever. Most of the staff are local to the area and are really nice. The owner/manager is from Tracy or something. He was over an hour late arriving to open when I was most recently there. Staff came through and was pumping burgers out of the kitchen less than 15 minutes after they opened. Thanks guys! See you again soon
The Junction is currently being Leased, but the new owners seem to be enjoying the place, keeping it up and adding a few new touches. My bacon cheeseburger with all the extras, also had a similar tasting "special sauce" and was deelish. Prices are a bit high now, hoping they'll lower as the new owners get more established. Good service and always a great atmosphere.
The location and ambiance is great. Perfect for cyclist on a long bike ride. They have a veggie burger and cold water and bathrooms. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area during their business hours.

As long as the beer is cold, food is freshly made, and the group can gather around to chit-chat after that long and fun back country drive, I have no complaints.

Quiet bar-style restaurant. Canned beer, wine, canned soda. Felt more like a snack bar. Right now it’s run by the owner and her family. Apparently looking to sell the business. All that said, they were super friendly and accommodating. I’d go back if I was in the area.
