If you love Asian cuisine but are looking for a more elevated atmosphere: look no further! Uncle Yu's is absolutely beautiful and located right in the heart of downtown. The service is outstanding and the food is really good too. They have a great selection on their menu and you can tell they use quality ingredients. Highly recommend.
An upscale environment and food experience. All the food we ordered was excellent. The Peking Duck Spring Rolls were exceptional. Are service was great and the environment was lively and sophisticated. Definitely a more “big city” feel. It did get a bit loud in the dining room which was fine for us but if it was a first date or someone had issues with hearing it might be a bit much. However we enjoyed vibrant Saturday night atmosphere.
5 stars for the ambience and service. Great wines. Taste n eat. Welcoming staff. Shrimp over crab starter is amazing. Portion size is not great. Priced rite as well. Corn chicken soup is not the typical sweet corn soup. Wagyu beef fried rice has just the rite flavors. If you are looking for a place take your better half on a date in this area pick this one
Today is Saturday 3/29/25 first time and this place has been talked about from my barber and neighbors in Lathrop and Stockton California first the Atmosphere is fine dining and relaxing 😎 second my water Mathew has been great customer service and knowledge of the menu clean fast service but hot drinks was great lychee martini 🍸 the portions are good only problem is 2 Egg Rolls cut up if the can change to 4 that would be great but combination chow mein and shrimp fried rice with chicken and egg was hot fresh flavored/ the sauce for the egg roll need to be bottled up and sold
Absolutely perfect experience. This is a must try for Livermore. I'd recommend going for more of the entree style dishes like the sea bass, and avoid family style pricing because the dish quality can drop (though it'll still be better than most restaurants.) Tonight I've had the har gau, sea bass, and salted carmel gelato, highly recommend all of these options. Perfect for large parties and date nights alike.
Uncle Yu’s at the Vineyard is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in Livermore. The service is exceptional every time—attentive and warm without being intrusive. I’ve been here multiple times, and I’ve yet to encounter a single issue. The food is simply outstanding, especially the crab-stuffed shrimp, which is incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. Every visit here is a delightful experience, both for the palate and the atmosphere. Highly recommend!
This is one of the top Chinese restaurants that I have eaten at. This restaurant has been at this location for at least 20 years that I recall their Peking duck which is tea smoked, never disappoint. They have one of the best walnut prawns in the Bay area. the service is excellent and their wine in liquor bar is exceptional.
I tried this place based on my wife’s recommendation and it was fantastic. The Dim Sum platter was fresh and very well made as well as presented. The oolong tea was piping hot. The General Tso’s Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Pork Fried Rice came quickly and all were delicious. The place is a little expensive, but the ingredients are fresh not frozen. Definitely a place to return to.
Due to COVID restrictions, we were of course seated at their beautiful outdoor patio. The menu options were great, full menu unlike some restaurants who have cut down the offering. With exception of one item ordered which did not come out right (which by the way they offered to remake or take off the bill without hesitation), the rest of the items ordered were all 5/5 stars, on point with flavors, freshness, colors, and presentation! It definitely was enjoyable. One thing that stood out, the friendliness of the wait staff, 7 stars out of 5 :) a delight!
Overall it was a good visit. The cabbage slaw was fresh and delicious. The eggplant was a bit too sweet. The green beans were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The curry was disappointing and lacked depth of flavor. The two chicken dishes my husband ordered were average, a bit under seasoned. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Service was good.
Very elegant decoration and the service was great. Food style is similar to P.F.Chang but with better presentation. The (Hong Kong style) beef chow fun is too oily for my taste. The egg plant dish and the sweet & sour spare rib are nicely made. Be aware that the portion is not as large as typical Chinese restaurant.
I visited this restaurant recently and was impressed with the overall service experience. There was no wait, plenty of seating available, and the staff made me feel welcomed right away. The service was top notch—our server was friendly and attentive, though the check-ins were spaced a bit far apart. I ordered the Pad Thai and the Kung Pao Chicken. While both dishes were decent, I’ve had better versions at other restaurants, so the food didn’t stand out as much as the service did. Overall, a pleasant dining experience, especially if you value a smooth seating process and warm service.
The restaurant overall is gorgoeus and provides plenty of seating, a nice spot for a dinner with family, friends or a companion. The staff is very friendly but had a hard time getting their attention during both lunch and dinner hours. They do have bar seating and I will be returning for their drinks, just might be my favorite spot in Livermore for cocktails. Food was good with large portion sizes-designed for family style eating so come with an appetite. If you're going for lunch I highly recommend the vegetable broth soup, for dinner the crabmeat cheese puffs are very satisfying. However my entrees fell short in comparison with the rest of my experience and it's price point. I still plan to come again!
I have been meaning to write my review of Uncle Yu’s. I have been going to Uncle Yu’s for many years now. I started going to their location that used to be in San Ramon (Now Long gone for many years) Anyway, I have been to the Livermore many times and I’m surprised I haven’t written a review before now. Almost 5 Stars actually but I used to love their Chinese Chicken Salad but something has changed with their dressing. Not as sweet and savory but still good - not great anymore. Their other dishes are really good. We celebrated my birthday recently and had a really good meal with great service. This restaurant does get busy, so make a reservation We started with Chinese Chicken Salad (like I said earlier good not great any longer) Sweet & Sour Pork (Good Flavor & not too saucy), Yu Shang Eggplant (Fantastic Dish) General Tao’s Chicken (really good dish we thought) , and Singapore Noodles (Nice Flavor made with Curry but not overpowering). Nice meal!! Then they surprised me with a Birthday Treat (that was really unexpected) but a nice Sweet Treat to cleanse the palate and end our meal. I recommend going here if you are in the area.
Delicious and well-made Dim Sum, especially the shrimp dumplings and the lobster dumplings. Beautiful and tastefully designed interior with white tablecloths for lunch service. Spacious interior dining with COVID safeguards. Ample outdoor seating is available. A bit pricey but it's fine dining at an upscale Chinese restaurant with a full bar. Definitely, a place to return for those special occasions. Professional, friendly, and attentive staff.
Upscale, quality delicious Chinese food in an elegant setting. Delicious food and friendly staff. Menu had a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes. Hot and Sour soup was proper Chinese style with apt amount of spices. Salmon Spring Rolls are a must try in appetizers. Other appetizers we tried were Crab Meat Cheese Puffs and Pot Stickers. Best thing here is any menu item can be customized by removing or adding any meat, just mention that to waiter while ordering. We also ordered Crab Fried Rice, Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian lamb, Chicken chow-mein and some chef special spicy chicken. We did not find any dish spicy even though it was mentioned spicy. I have to specially mention about the deserts. We ordered Exotic Bomba, Pistachio Ricotta Cake, Hazelnut Torta. They not only looked delicious but also tasted great. Plenty of parking is available behind the restaurant from where there will be enough walk. Definitely recommended if you are into pure Chinese delicacies.
Very good Chinese food. I feel like trying a new Chinese restaurant is more risky than most other types but Uncle Yu's did not disappoint. The food was very good, a little pricey. We had Crab Meat Cheese Puffs, Lotus Chicken, General Tso's Chicken and Stirfried Garlic Noodles. All of it was good. I really liked the lettuce wraps and the garlic noodles went really well with the general tso's chicken. The service was not great though. I know it was Saturday night, but we had a reservation and still waited 40 minutes for a table. At one point they told us the party leaving our table already paid the check but hadn't left yet. Took another 20 min after that. The hostess apologized and offered a free appetizer for our trouble. That did help, but then the server didn't seem to have been told, she looked surprised when we mentioned it. After taking our order, we never really saw the server again. We saw her walk past a few times talking to other tables, but the only people who ever checked on us seemed to be passing bus boys. My recommendation: get it to go. Good food without the hassle of poor service.
Interesting place: Chinese food (do not expect it authentic), wine tasting, western-style decoration, use Korean-style chopsticks. Food was either under seasoning or over seasoning; I did not have any favorite here. The service was a charm. Look fancy for a date but not practical for foodies like me huhu 🥲🥲🥲
