Meson con solera pero muy bien cuidado, muy bonito, paramos en un viaje para probar las famosas Truchas de río frío , y la verdad que estupendas muy ricas. El servicio bueno , merece la pena parar por aquí a probar sus platos y sobre todo sus truchas. Tienen también menú del día que también puedes elegir trucha con un pequeño suplemento

Impresionante parada gastronómica entre Granada y Málaga. Imprescindible para los buenos estómagos, desde los pescados de río (trucha y esturión) a los productos del cerdo. Magnífico servicio y unos comedores en la planta de arriba, pequeñitos pero encantadores. Para repetir sin fin, en bucle.

El servicio es excelente, las chicas que atienden lo hacen con mucho agrado. La comida nos pareció muy rica la verdad, estaba todo en su punto y nos sirvieron bastante rápido para la cantidad de gente que había. Lugar para repetir. Recomendable 100x100

Go there for the freshwater fish! The fresh trout is cooked perfectly, you can also try the smoked sturgeon and the river shrimps. Location very nice and traditional, just outside the highway, making it a perfect spot on the road going to Granada.

This is a traditional Andalusian Mesón which is very highly regarded in the region. The "habitas con jamón" is a very typical local Granada dish which is amazingly delicious here. And then the star dish: "Esturion a la brasa". That's sturgeon, the speciality fish farmed locally, baked over coal. Has to be tried to be believed!

Food was supergreat, with a modern twist that we really liked. We arrived to early for dinner, and despite Spain being Spain, not questions asked: everything was smooth and fine. The decoration is beautiful and maybe a bit old-fashioned, which was fun that night (bullfighting posters, photos of the manager with popular singers, politicians and matadors...), and the temperature in the salon was really warm and cozy.

A wonderful restaurant, the atmosphere is quite unique with the most incredible decor from yesteryear. The food is excellent, we had 2 of the best fillet steaks I can remember, and a delicious smoked sturgeon and goats cheese starter. Added to that the staff are all lovely and make you feel like family. Another special place in Riofrio! Definitely worth a visit!

Un restaurante tradicional con un menú muy sabroso y contundente. Y a sólo 14€ por persona. Y con vista al río. Merece la pena volver. La trucha muy buena, la porra también y el pollo a la brasa excelente.

Al rato de sentarnos en la mesa nos sirvieron como aperitivo unos vinos dulces, aceitunas y pan que parecía muy casero, con mucha miga. De entrante pedimos un consomé y saquitos de esturión con queso de cabra. Luego, de plato principal unas truchas con salsa de gambas y champiñones y otra trucha abierta con salsa de jamón. Lo mejor del lugar era lo acogedor que era.

Todo un descubrimiento, un restaurante de pueblo que te lleva a tu infancia. Comida casera y de toda la vida. Fuimos por el arroz de esturión, pero nos gustó todo. Las gachas finales un "must". Repetiremos

Sitio con mucho encanto en plena naturaleza. La trucha está espectacular, fresca y muy bien cocinada. El local es rústico, acogedor y el personal muy amable, incluso cuando está lleno. Buena calidad-precio. Parada obligatoria si estás por la zona.

Lugar pintoresco para hacer parada de camino por la autovía, no hace falta desviarse demasiado. La comida muy buena, por ponerle un pero, las croquetas deberían ser más ligera en la beshamel. Precio correcto.

The bar area is definitely unique with all the corn cobs hanging, not see anything like that before. The restaurant is well present, service was good and the food okay. Went for the Ensalada Tropical and Bacalao plancha with fries, would have been nice with some vegetables. Overall pretty good.

Un sitio muy bonito y con mucho encanto. El entorno es precioso y es de esos lugares a los que merece la pena ir sin prisa, para pasar el día tranquilo, pasear por la zona y disfrutar del ambiente. En cuanto a la comida, en general bien, aunque sin nada especialmente destacable. Pedimos varios platos para compartir. Lo que más nos gustó fue el cocido con pringá, que estaba muy bueno. También pedimos arroz, que estaba correcto, pero sin algo que lo hiciera especial. Probamos cangrejos y bacalao estaban bien pero sin más. En resumen, un lugar precioso y muy agradable para pasar el día y disfrutar del entorno. La comida está bien, pero más correcta que memorable.

This restaurant is in the old family restaurant style. It has a wooden decor with classic table coverings. The place is popular and gets quite busy. The staff is hospitable and quite young. The prawns were the best food we tried on the menu, as the sauce was outstanding. The croquettes were disappointing. Our individual mains were average. The drinks were good as we had tinto verano con limon. The prices were fine. Overall an average experience that would have been enhanced by food at the standard of the prawn's dish.

Aug 23 Popped in here for lunch after a day in Granada hoping for a nice lunch. However we're quite disappointed with food and service. We were treated like second class citizens after we ordered only mains dishes and when they came they were very average. Chips were dried out and potatoes were smothered in far to much oil. Service was very slow and not as friendly as previous visit. We could not wait to get out.

A real shocking disappointment. Having eaten well at the Venta, this time we visited the village and the Meson. We had River crabs, Sturgeon, three different trout main courses. The Sturgeon was ok. The crayfish looked and tasted like the mud in the river. The trout were dry (possibly not fresh) and overpowered by smoked ham. The service was uncaring. We found it surprising in light of other reviews.
