Sensational meal. One of the best I’ve ever had. My girlfriend and I have been meaning to go here for a while, and we finally found a chance on Valentine’s Day. Very intimate vibe in the restaurant, which we loved. Ordered the house white, very, very good. Then the plates arrived. You HAVE to get the Comte croquette with the pickled walnut ketchup, 10/10. Couldn’t have got off to a better start, then every single dish maintained that high level. Special shoutout to the ricotta, honeycomb and olive oil, so simple, yet so balanced. We were feeling euphoric after the main plates, so desserts were definitely getting ordered. The brown butter cake… INSANE. Don’t even think twice about ordering it, again 10/10. The chocolate cremeux was also insane. Olive oil and sea salt should be on every dessert. An unbelievable experience, we will 100000% be back.
Lovely bar in Soho. Heard many good things about this place and finally stopped by for drinks. We sat outdoors and ordered cocktails and white wine, everything was great. The staffs were really lovely and welcoming. Will definitely come back to try the food next time 🖤
Very nice Friday night experience, reserved a table for 2 and we got brought downstairs to a communal seating but space was cozy enough to talk to a friend. Ordered lamb skewers which were not too gamey, sourdough is a must which was so flakey and soft! Cheese with crackers went really nicely with a bottle of house white. Special thanks to chef who gave us another complimentary plate of crackers since ours fell on the ground 🙂
Zack was the best. we go out to eat and drink a lot and he was so knowledgeable about wine and helped us pick 2 fabulous bottles. Also not to mention just a nice friendly person. Food was also as good as ever at Crispin. 1000% recommend.
What a great night of food we had! An unbelievable mix of flavours and textures in every dish that we tried! Not to mention the accompanying wine, just oooofff! Absolutely bliss! Customer service was exceptional, and the staff were both friendly and welcoming. We were taken well care of by Abu, so kudos to him for doing a great job! Portions are perhaps on the smaller side, so you would need to order multiple dishes, but that's part of the fun, right!? Recommended to anyone, you'll have a great time for sure.
Tried Bar Crispin after a recommendation this week. It’s a little oasis in the heart of Soho, with a very cool and stylish interior, warm welcome from staff and delicious small plates. We shared the burrata, sea bass crudo, cheese croquettes and some fries with aioli - all were tip top. Found the wines per glass pretty spenny, although I tried the house white too, which was very drinkable as well as reasonable. I’d order that again. A fabulous little find, with friendly but unobtrusive service.
I have been to Bistrot Freddie, and their venue hijack at Studio Voltaire, but i had not been to Bar Crispin yet. This was rectified yesterday. I went for lunch, and, despite not having a reservation ( I strongly recommend to always book, as the place is tiny ), I was welcomed by the lively staff on duty that gave me a very nice table as well. I had the polenta, the tartare, the prawn Sando, the trout and the bread and butter, plus the dessert as well. This was accompanied by a great white wine from Campania, and I later changed it for a nice Riesling, which went very well with the trout main course. The service is exceptional, very efficient and competent, unobtrusive but present and there in a flash as soon as it was needed. The food is extremely well cooked, the ingredients are treated with respect, and the presentation of each dish is really elegant. I ended with the lively dessert, the only one on the lunch menu, and left after having an amiable chat with some fellow guests and the marvellous staff that was on its own during the whole service, but kept smiling and went the extra mile during the whole lunch, not just with me but with all the other guests as well. It has been a real pleasure to be there, and I can’t wait to go back ! Bravo
I booked the green dining room for a birthday celebration, after friends said how amazing the food was, and it did not disappoint. The room itself is decorated so nicely and spacious, the staff were all lovely and the food - unreal! Everyone said that the food was amazing. I’d definitely recommend booking the private dining room for a special occasion
Small establishment but big flavours. We were looked after by Ella, who was very knowledgeable about the wines and pairing them with what we ordered. We did not find fault with any of the dishes and portion sizes were great for sharing. Welsh Rarebit, Oakleaf & Gem Salad, Smoked Mangalitza Sausage, Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle, John Dory Fillets. I look forward to my next visit so that I can try the rest of the menu.
Loved how patient they were with me picking a wine and one of the waitresses knew exactly was amazing and nailed it! The food we thought the tartare was a must try and the burrata as well. Less fan of the sea bream, the mix of cream / tomato / fish doesn’t really work. Dessert was deep fried a bit disappointing, selection could be improved. Hence the 4 for food. Overall I’d go back!
What an absolute gem! The ambience is great, lovely food, fresh produce served in a tapas style which is perfect for dining while sipping on different varieties of wines. Service could’ve have been better, staff is super attentive and helpful, make sure to ask for recommendations that suit your taste buds and you won’t leave disappointed! Couldn’t recommended enough, a must visit place when in Soho. These guys know their craft.
The food was great, but what really made the night was our waiter, Zack. He’s only been there a month, yet he recommended dishes like he owned the place - confident, knowledgeable, and genuinely good listener. He took the time to understand what we like and made sure every choice suited our tastes perfectly. You could tell he truly cared about us having the best experience. The restaurant is lucky to have him!
Zack was a phenomenal waiter. So welcoming, so knowledgable about the menu. We literally just took his recs all night. A great evening! Thank you xx
This place is great. Somehow reminded me of a cool place I once went to in Paris. Really though, the hosting by both Sam (the Scientist) and Zack the absolute legend! Amazing. Give ‘em a payrise!
I had always wanted to visit this place, and I’m so glad I finally did. The bar and restaurant are fantastic, with a warm and genuinely welcoming staff. I loved the wine selection, and the food was absolutely divine. The atmosphere is lovely, and the service is excellent. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, as it’s always busy, and I will certainly be returning.
We had a wonderful time at this bar. The highlights included the flatbread and the quail. Our waiter, Pavan, was really lovely and attentive. The wine list was extensive and had lots of variety for the groups needs. The dessert wine was incredible in terms of pairing and we loved all the recommendations from our waiter.
This place felt like such a hidden and quiet gem in the middle of the chaos that is Oxford Street. We loved our experience here! The wine was amazing, the small plates were well thought-out and ideal for sharing — also very unique and versatile, perfect for different food tastes. Great spot for a fancy lunch with a glass of wine!
Lovely place with such kind personnel. The food is amazing!
Small menu but good food nonetheless
Cute restaurant! Lovely wine list, lovely staff. We ordered the crispy polenta, mussels, confit duck, burata, sour dough and prawn sando. I cannot fault any of these dishes they were all amazing. However since this place does small plates, you probably won’t get extremely full.
Lovely bar with fresh, local small plates and well picked wines. We went on a Saturday night at 9pm and the vibe was great, a small restaurant but busy with attentive staff. Couple that with some fresh sourdough, cured meat, great cheese and what else do you need! Highly recommend for a special evening or date night.
We had the privilege to be served by Sam. She was incredibly attentive and extremely fun to be around. She improved our night tenfold. Would absolutely recommend.
This is a new find for me - everything absolutely delivers on the promise. Great location, superbly attentive (though not over-powering) staff in a really intimate setting. The food is exceptional - everything packs a punch and the wine lst is phenomenal.
The place was welcoming and we found a nice table to sit and have lunch in a Sunday. The service was super professional and the knowledgeable, the wine recommendations were spot on. The food was fantastic, we had the Compte croquettes, the mushroom tagliatelle and the lamb skewers, everything was delicious. Highly recommend.
We visited Bar Crispin on Wednesday night and had such an amazing time! The food was absolutely delicious, and the whole team was super friendly and attentive. Josh in particular went above and beyond - he made sure we had everything we needed and gave us some incredible wine recommendations. Can’t wait to come back!
I came here at lunch on a quiet Sunday, the bar has great selections and I was served by the lovely Sam. She gave great suggestions, really enjoyed my chat with her. Highly recommend.
Had an amazing NYE dinner with friends here and food was delicious and service was outstanding. We were looked after my Natasha- she was amazing, so friendly and great chat! Will definitely be back here
Best food best vibes best music and drinks! Zak is a legend and a lovely guy. Took care of my friend with lots of allergies
Best beef tartare I’ve had, even better than Paris. Delicious food and gorgeous wine. I don’t usually leave reviews but Shreyash’s service made the experience so brilliant, non pushy, down to earth and kind. Would recommend for a low key, not too overpriced spot in soho
I had a private party in the Green Room downstairs of the restaurant. I have already eaten here a few time, so knew the food would be fantastic, but the chef really out did themselves. The room is intimate, spacious and you can play your own music. WE had personalised menus and the services was so wonderful, we all felt very special.
Lovely vibe, delicious food and perfect service. Wanted to also specially call out Zak who looked after us- he was kind, knowledgable and warm. We will be back!
Love love love! Would recommend to everyone. Josh was our waiter and was the best - so fun! You have to come here
We two Aussies in London thoroughly enjoyed the great food and atmosphere at Bar Crispin. Aliyah was a brilliant host, sharing her knowledge about the wines, attentive to our pace and needs. It’s rare to get service this good. Thanks for a great night.
Came here by recommendation from Hannah Crosbie (drinks columnist) and it was perfect for a drink & catchup with my bestie in central. Great picky bits at a reasonable price as well as a few margs - and great service, we were excellently taken care of by Michael. Will be back x
I chose Bar Crispin to celebrate my birthday dinner with friends in their green room (private dining room) downstairs. Darcie was brilliant at managing my event beforehand, and the restaurant team were wonderful on the day. Service was spot on, the menu was exciting and food and wine delicious, and everything went really smoothly. My guests and I had a fabulous evening. I can’t recommend Bar Crispin enough - from an intimate dinner date, to drinks and nibbles with friends, or to splash out for a special birthday!
We had small plates which were delicious. I’d recommend the fried olives and croquettes. I only didn’t like the butter that came with the bread and the burrata. I’d like to try a bigger dish next time. Service was very nice, our waiter was helpful and warm. Note - the small plates are tiny so dont order them if you are hungry. We paid £100 including 4 glasses of wine
I would actually rate this over all a 4.5 - but Google needs to update their star rating ;). I just came here to say that I had the best beef tartare of my life here the other day. Seasoned to perfection. The prawn sando was delicious also, Burrata was decent. Our young waiter (forgive me for not remembering your name) was such a vibe, very charming and made us feel welcome instantly. This is a great place for intimate al fresco dining - venue is small. Dog friendly.
I had seen there was availability to book tables online, so I tried to walk-in thinking there would be space. Staff seemed utterly confused that I wanted to eat there; after discussing amongst themselves offered me one of the (many free) tables outside. I declined as it was lightly raining and people were smoking nearby, I asked if I were to book could I sit inside and was told yes. So I immediately went to the website and booked an available inside table for in 30 minutes time. I arrived back and the staff seemed perturbed that I had returned and seemed confused that I was able to book (as someone who has worked in hospitality, including fine dining, I think staff should have been more aware of their online availability and tables which were/were not reserved), and I was (very hesitantly) offered a seat at the bar. To be honest it felt like for whatever reason, the staff did not want me there. I understand I am a solo diner and did not at all mind sitting at the bar, to avoid taking up a 2 person table. But the offer to sit at the bar very much felt like a ‘if you must you can sit here’. This kind of service just isn’t welcoming and I only stuck around as I really wanted to try the food. Despite this I’m glad I stayed as I have to say the food I tried was delicious. The staff were pleasant enough once I was seated and asked me how each dish was- I just wish I didn’t have the sour taste from my awkward arrival. An additional point is a 13.5% service charge for water is too steep, especially when staff don’t refill empty water glasses. The whole point of a service charge is to receive a service.. which I just didn’t feel I did? Pretty hard to justify when an additional £1 is added for the water.
Unfortunately our experience of lunch was distinctly average (as much as I had high hopes). Atmosphere and service felt quite clinical but the food was the main disappointment. Started with high hopes after brilliant croquettes and great wine, but calots weren’t good followed by unfortunate lamb koftas that were very greasy and almost seemed raw - far too pink, so we had to leave them. Chips did not taste homemade either sadly (apologies if they are) but we had to fill up on these. Sorry to have to leave an average review but we came away disappointed and wouldn’t return.
Lovely atmosphere but they are far too over generous with fats. We ordered the steak tartare and the bread was borderline disgusting with how soaked in oil/fat it was. We mentioned it to the waiter but nothing happened in return. They also surprised us with a 13.5% serve charge (opposed to the normal 12.5%). The pasta dish was delicious and lovely atmosphere, but I wouldn’t recommend.
Service was great - she was very knowledgeable and had great vibe. However, food was a bit of a let down. Ordered two Negroni’s - my partner had to send hers back as it was made with mezcal instead of gin. I don’t mind this, but it should be clearly stated on the menu. They refunded it, so no issue. Fries came out at the start of the meal, I know it’s supposed to be sharing plates (that come when they come), but didn’t want them with my bread. So our first two plates were bread & chips together with no other plate. Steak tartare was good however, the fried brioche toast was saturated with oil making it really sickly - to the point we couldn’t eat it. Toasted Brioche would have been a better option. Lemon sole and cafe de Paris was average, the cafe de Paris butter tasted more like a weak tarragon burre blanc. Everything else was ok, maybe this was just a bad night for them?
Had wanted to try Bar Crispin for a while now as Crispin has such a great reputation. I’m not sure if it was the time (3pm) or the location(tourist central) but the atmosphere was very flat. Staff were not attentive at all, with our main server seeming annoyed to have to take our orders. Had to catch their attention to order every time. Think that period between lunch/dinner they seemed to be a bit switched off. Either that, or they have tourist fatigue. The food was fine- standard small plates, nothing ground breaking. It was a shame as I was expecting much more from Bar Crispin.
I was dissatisfied with our dinner because the value was just not there. Small portions that are too costly for the quality/taste. Service was okay, not particularly warm, no one came to ask how the food was and we struggled to get attention to order another round of drinks. If service is included on the bill then staff need to show better customer service. All seating inside is tall seating and the stools are really awkward to use, bad design. Said in our booking it was for a birthday but no effort made to add extra service or gesture like you often get at other restaurants. I wouldn’t return.
Popped in for a drink and a snack. Wine was good and the staff nice. I must agree with another reviewer, the croquettes were indeed bland and portions very small. I didn’t like the way we were given water in a reusable bottle which we assumed to be tap water. Our half-used bottle was taken away and a full fresh bottle put down. It was only when we got our bill that we realised that we’d been charged for 2 bottles of what appeared to be tap water. We’d not go again for this reason, seems a bit underhanded. There are so many other independent restaurants I’d rather support.
Food was either unsalted or drowned in Tabasco, masking any real flavor. The croquettes were bland, the crudo completely unseasoned, and the steak tartare overwhelmed by Tabasco. Service could also have been warmer—telling guests in a rush, “you only have 15 minutes left,” and walking away is not the way to treat clients. The same message could have been conveyed more politely. Overall, I expected much more, but it turned out to be a disappointment.
