Dinner with my bestie from Taiwan, her daughter, another bestie’s daughter, and my own London-based work bee daughter 🐝 — what a lovely gathering! We picked a small Italian restaurant in central London—not flashy, but full of charm. It had that warm, cozy family-run vibe where everyone working there felt like they were related (maybe they were?). The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the service made us feel right at home. It’s the perfect spot for a small group of friends, family, or colleagues to catch up. 💡 Bonus: reasonably priced for central London and they offer free WiFi! Highly recommend if you’re after good food, good company, and a genuinely welcoming vibe.
Had a great time in Da Paolo, was our first time but wont be the last. Great atmosphere, no loud music to drown the conversations. Food looks and tasted great, the portions were generous. Wine menu was extensive, got the house white which for my untrained palate was good to pair with the spaghetti allo, grilled sea-bass and mussels. Had a nice surprise tiramisu for my birthday. The staff were great, very attentive. The place was cozy, it felt very family-owned type of restaurant. Overall great experience and would recommend. Will definitely be back for more!
What a great little restaurant of the tourists track. Arguably some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. We had the Burrata & vegetables for a starter which was a brilliant dish. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was full bodied without being overwhelming. Service was excellent and on point. Great restaurant for a night out but book in advance, the place is popular. THE TRAVELING HAT
Chance upon this wonderful restaurant while searching for dining choices in the vicinity, and it proved to be a delightful discovery. The restaurant exudes a cozy, intimate ambiance reminiscent of a quaint Italian trattoria. The service was exceptional, delivered with promptness and warmth. And as for the food, it surpassed all expectations. Each dish was impeccably executed, and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. We will definitely be back and recommend this to others.
Absolutely delicious and very homely atmosphere with great service. My partner and I keep coming back to try different items on the menu - I kept going back to the creamy mushroom risotto and any pasta with seafood! The set menus deliver the same quality as a la carte. Portions are big and ingredients are super fresh! Save some space (if you can) for dessert.
Literally the prettiest, most lovely little restaurant. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was completely amazing, my friend and i both had pan fried king prawns with saffron rice in white wine, garlic and chilli sauce. It was the most amazing meal and we already are planning another visit to try more of the menu. Definitely recommend for a lovely dinner
Wonderful family run independent restaurant, visited for a family occasion on a Sunday evening, which was still busy so says a lot. Great attentive but relaxed service, all courses we had were stunning and reasonably priced for the quality of food and venue. Well deserved 5☆ reccomendation!
Lovely traditional Italian restaurant. Good menus with a wide variety of choice, be warned the portions are delicious but huge, and despite my best efforts I've been unable to finish everything, have been several times now and never had anything I didn't like. Staff are friendly and I would definitely recommend if in the area
We came across this restaurant without even looking for it and it was a great decision and save us keep walking. Menu was complete with many options, we asked to change a couple of toppings of put pastas and they made it possible with no charge. The food was delicious and the young server was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. 100% would come back
My family and I came here on the last night of our trip yesterday. The staff greeted us with such lovely kind smiles, welcoming attitude and took care of us. This restaurant is indeed what it is described as- authentic Italian. The food was the star of the show and was certainly the best Italian food we have ever had. I would recommend this lovely family business as it is just simply perfect. I loved the atmosphere and everything else that came with it. Thank you for having us and when we come back to visit London we shall come back!
The place has a tasteful decor, although being a bit small with two floors. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was packed. Despite this, we received fast and pleasant service. We asked to change tables due to feeling cramped, and they kindly accommodated us despite being almost full at the time. The food was exquisite. I ordered gnocchi and tiramisu and could not have made a better choice; both dishes were delicious. It's worth noting that the prices are not cheap, but you are paying for freshly made pasta with homemade, generous portions.
We were looking for a nice pasta place and we found this one hidden in a little aisle. Starting with the decoration, which makes you feel in a proper Italian restaurant, everything was perfection. We had the insulation cypress, the mussels and the parpadelle spicy sausage (one of the today's specials) and all the dishes were so tasty and fresh!. Portions are generous, it was two of us and we shared all the plates, we were very satisfied. The sit by the window, highly recommended. And the final touch: the fresh rose as decoration in the table
Small and nice restaurant in central London, I ordered a portion of calamari to start solmon as main ,tiramisu as a dessert and two glasses of white wine . The manager was kind and welcoming! Because the restaurant was full I chose to sit at the table outside. The only problem I had was the food. The calamari were nice presented but blend in taste and chewy. The solmon had a really good presentations but when I start eating it taste like microwaves . You could still see the water coming out of it and the consistency of mashy fish. The tiramisu was ok in taste only that the amount of cream exceed the moisture off the biscuits. A bit unbalanced for the real deal! I must say that the manager didn’t charge me for the calamari and he changed the solmon with the Tuna steak which was really tasty and well seasoned! I appreciate the service and I am sure they can do better! Thank you !
Delicious food and friendly staff, who consistently make you feel very welcome. My husband and I have been here several times, but most recently it was a family meal to celebrate our daughter’s 21st. Food was all perfect, the Insalatina Caprina serving was very large so I am glad I chose to share this goats cheese starter. For main courses, the Gnocchi alla Boscaiola was a highlight, but we also very much enjoyed the Tagliatelle al Ragu, Risotto Salsiccia al Barolo and Spaghetti alla Carbonara. Definitely recommend this lovely restaurant on Charlotte Place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fantastic experience at Da Paolo. We ordered Calamari Fritti, Spaghetti allo Scoglio, Branzino alla Griglia, along with Tiramisu and Sorbetto — every dish was fresh, flavourful and beautifully balanced without feeling heavy. Portions were very generous and perfect for sharing, especially the seafood pasta overflowing with mussels, prawns and squid. A special thank you to Carlos for the thoughtful seating arrangement and warm assistance with our special table request. Excellent food, genuine service and a truly memorable evening. Highly recommended. Definitely come back!!! And the same table which G-dragon sat before 🥰🤩🤩🤩
I live in the states but travel to London at least twice every year. I’ve been coming here for over a decade, but for some reason, I’ve never left a review. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in London. The food, service, and ambience are all great. I was fortunate on one of my trips to meet the owner and he was just wonderful.
Very good and cosy place. Portions are very generous. My favourite was the tiramisu, balanced flavours with great cream. Excellent service from Ray!
It's a lovely place for a lunch or dinner. We tried lasagne, pasta and risotto. All of them were great. Service is amazing. Thank you for this lovely night! 4 people with 4 main + 3 starters + 1 dessert + 1 bottle of wine was around 180£
An authentic and very genuine Italian restaurant, well reviewed and deservedly so. Firstly, the portion sizes are fairly large for main course and there’s a superb selection of pasta and seafood dishes, including swordfish and monkfish. The starters are, again, superb. The restaurant is tucked away down a pedestrian area. Very welcoming owner and staff and a real taste of Italy. Very highly recommended.
The portions were generous and the atmosphere was nice, but the spacing between tables was so narrow that it was uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was great. I will definitely come back again.
Love the pasta here very much! They are made to perfection. Taste of each dish is so authentic and well-balanced. Friendly service, good atmosphere.
Linguine Rosse e Gamberoni was absolutely delicious. I loved how they served it with lots of garlic and the linguine was perfectly cooked. The calamari was also a delight as well. Would love to revisit the place😁
The atmosphere was that of a traditional back street restaurant in Italy. Photographs and furnishings were beautifully arranged to convey this authentic aura. The food was cooked with love and expertise, the wine was the finest we'd ever tasted and the welcome was warm and friendly but never intrusive. Very highly recommended!! ❤️
Good options in the menu, the plates are rich and big, which was a pleasant surprise! The food tasty! I tried the salmon which was delicious! We definitely had a good time there :)
Service was good, we were served by Mario. He was chatty and friendly. The pastas were great - portions were large and the seafood was fresh! My friends and I truly enjoyed our meal there. I ordered the fresh truffle pasta which was the specials and it was really good. However, the desserts are a bit underwhelming. Would 100% come again!
Me and my partner love the place. It is very cosy, nice old black&white pictures on the walls, great Italian staff - two nice gentlemans who are always polite and attentive. Once when visiting there was an Italian lady who suggested a really great wine to our meal. Food is excellen! We like to order meat or fish selection to share. Last time I tried risotto and it was amazing. All snacks and starters are very tasty. Highly recommended! On a weekend they are very busy, so you must make a booking in advance.
Stopped by this place on a whim and the food was fantastic! We both got the gnocchi and it was absolutely amazing. Service was also great. Definitely recommend!!
It has been a great lunch at Da Paolo, the restaurant is really cozy and the tables are close to each other but it was a great opportunity to chat with both tables that were on the right and left of myself. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff really nice and chatty. I really recommend this restaurant!
Loved it in here! Such cosy vibes, felt really authentically Italian too. The carbonara was so good and we had such a lovely Chianti classico. Really relaxed vibe and felt like I was in Italy!
Walked in on a whim and had a great experience. Fresh, very homemade tasting pasta, reasonable wine list, friendly service.
Fabulous food, attentive service and a wonderful atmosphere. An intimate space that feels comforting and homely. Reasonably priced and excellent quality, flavourful food.
Nice small italian restaurant. Staff was very friendly. Food was excellent and wine aswell, really loved this place. Very small, so please make a reservation in good time
Amazing Italian restaurant in Soho. The pasta was delicious! I highly recommend the specialties that are not in the menu (the parpadelle pasta was delightful) We had a lovely dinner downstairs. The place was cozy and lovely. The service was really good. Make sure you book a table in advance as it gets full really quickly.
Gorgeous romantic little Italian restaurant ❤️ Authentic, fresh, hand made delicious dishes. Charm, heritage and warmth. It's a lovely spot. I had a quick lunch and though expensive it's just fabulous service and food... I'm going for valentines day so I'll keep you posted!
Cozy Italian traditional restaurant in the heart of Fitzrovia. Big portions and tasty pasta options. Although I was very happy overall, it did not remind me of the pasta dishes I ate in Italy. Friendly staff who were happy to help throughout the night. I don't eat spicy food and they were happy to not add chillies to my dish. Tiramisu had too much whipped cream on top. It's a quite small place and it was a bit hard to move around the restaurant. We booked in advance. Prices: We were a group of 4 and it cost around £45 per person for selection of Italian breads (they weren't very fresh which was a bit disappointing), four pasta mains, a bottle of white wine and two portions of tiramisu that we shared between us.
Cute spot and great service - the food however is okay and unexpectedly expensive. We had the bruschetta, the mussels, the truffle ravioli and the carbonara - none of them were bad (though mussels were particularly average), just nothing special and quite expensive for what it was.
Would not honour their website prices. Beware - advertised as £36 per person for a party, but when we arrived tried to charge £54 per person. Avoid like the plague. And they then dropped my phone whilst I showed them the email. Avoid avoid avoid.,
Possibly the most shocking behaviour I've ever experienced by a staff member at a restaurant, without having even eaten there. We made a reservation for 7:45pm, we got a call at 7:20pm saying it's now for 8pm. Strange but fine, not a problem. At 8pm we walked into a half empty restaurant and told them we had a reservation and the host immediately started yelling at the very petit woman in our party who unfortunately had spoken to him. Apparently what had set him off is she had mentioned twice that we had a reservation for 7:45 initially. Absolutely vile behaviour in an otherwise extremely normal situation that happens at restaurants all the time that could have been solved with an easy "sorry it will just be another 15 minutes". Avoid by all means.
The rudest man runs this restaurant. We had phoned the restaurant directly on the phone for a booking which was originally booked for 7.45. They then called to move us to 8. We showed up at 8 to him angrily telling us they aren’t ready with no apology despite us walking a long way to get there. He then yelled at us saying we never booked for 7.45 and then moved us away saying we can just ‘do what we want’. Very aggressive. If he had just said sorry it will be another 15 mins we were happy to wait but I’ve never had such rude angry treatment by anyone like that before. Disgusting behaviour. UPDATE - this was booked on the phone with a female member of staff directly and not via an app, response from owner makes no sense
