Kettner’s is a welcome little oasis from the madness of Soho—stylish, calm, and surprisingly accessible. Half the venue is Soho House, but the public bit still feels exclusive (without needing a membership or a second mortgage). Champagne flows, the cocktails are brilliant, and the crowd is effortlessly chic. It’s never empty, yet you’ll always find a seat. Comfy chairs, table service, and just the right amount of secrecy—no signs, no fuss, just a great place to people-watch with a posh drink in hand.
Quite literally our home away from home coming here. They’ve thought of every amenity and we feel welcomed and relaxed in this little oasis in the heart of Soho.
Had the most wonderful stay at Kettner’s. The staff, especially Martin, went above and beyond. The room was lovely and well appointed, and even in the heart of Soho, perfectly quiet. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a charming hotel in Soho.
This is our NEW fave place. The concierge service to the food to location to the rooms to the overall ambience - outstanding. The gym is not on site - so did not get a chance to try that - but this is my go to place in London
We ate here after twenty odd years - and it has returned to its best - great ambience - lovely service and tasty food - The cheese soufle was outstanding & the main courses were generous & full of flavour- a bottle of Rose at just over £30 is really reasonable & the whole experience was quite special - The fact that Oscar Wilde dined here is just another reason to love this place - Thank you - just wonderful !!
We had a most enjoyable evening in the restaurant here; all the staff were extremely friendly, the welcome was exceptional and we were well looked after by Maria and Lisandro. The food was enjoyable especially the terrine and the crudites. The food is very reasonably priced and there is a great selection of wine by the glass or 500ml. They have a lovely bar too.
We had the pleasure of Sunday lunch here and it did not disappoint. The setting is beautiful and we were shown seats which was a beautiful booth. The attention to detail is perfect and we were very well looked after. The food was incredible and our starters consisted of mussels and venison, pheasant terrine. We all had the slow cooked rib of beef roast which is the best I have had in a long time. The beef was beautifully cooked and melted in your mouth. The desert was apple crumble and baked cheese cake again faultless. This is a beautiful setting, perfectly located and reasonably priced and we will return.
A lovely bar that is part of the Soho house chain that non members can hire out for a private function. The staff were very attentive and the cocktails delicious.
Last minute booking yielded an amazing stay. Room 4 was a good size, had everything you could possibly need and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Now for the only down side - was slap bang next to the door to the main stairwell so a slamming door in the morning was a bit of a wake up call. This aside everything else was a delight.
I love kettners because it holds a special place in my heart from the 1980’s. But if you want a lovely and sometimes relaxed quiet place to eat on a Sunday or an evening I would highly recommended coming here. The good is great and the service brilliant. We recently came for a pre Xmas lunch and had the porter house steak for two it was delicious. I need to take photos in future.
Amazing vibes! First time great pianist combined with lovely red. Maria looked after us very well. Would highly recommend for a chilled night!
Had a lovely time here for lunch. The venue is beautiful and our waitress was knowledgable and attentive. Food was delicious- the croquettes were very over salted and incredibly rich (perhaps too much) however everything else was perfect. I would recommend the lamb to share if it’s still there when you visit!
Probably my favorite Soho House I’ve ever stayed at. Friendly staff, impeccable & timely service, and an incredible atmosphere (as always). Marietta was super accommodating with luggage storage when I arrived early and getting me set up at nearby gym TopNotch.
Kettner's House is a true gem! This charming boutique hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Highlights: • Impeccable service from the incredibly friendly and helpful staff • Elegant decor and cozy, stylish rooms • Super comfortable beds for a restful night's sleep • Outstanding restaurant and bar serving delicious cuisine • Fantastic location in the heart of Soho, London Perfect Getaway: Kettner's House truly feels like a home away from home. The attention to detail and commitment to excellence make it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a luxurious and relaxing stay. Highly Recommend!
Loved this place! My girlfriend and I visited last night and the service and food were exceptional! Highly recommend the pie to share and the chips, and massive shout out to Rob who knew all the best wines and looked after us all eve!! He is great!
We had breakfast and everything was just utterly delicious! The team made us feel welcomed and looked after since we stepped in. Beautiful energy, attentive and warm service. Thank you Rosa for your exceptional attention and for giving us the perfect suggestions, thank you Jess for taking care of us and for your lovely kindness. See you very soon!
What can I say but such an amazing place to stay. The team at Kettner's is amazing and kind. Kine & Gabby went above beyond being accommodating to my family with family challenges and travel issues. Can't wait to be back there in the New Year! Highly recommend Kettner"s to everyone when in London. The Sullivan's
Wasn't a stay at the hotel, but a regular for the bar. Fantastic hosts and excellent cocktails. Really chilled and great vibes for spending an evening. Bar snacks are a perfect accompaniment - the croquettes are divine. Nothing is too much for these guys.
Great restaurant with nice atmosphere , live music and interior. Food and cocktails are amazing! Really enjoyed our evening ! Thanks 🤩
We enjoyed a family get together with a late Sunday lunch at this venue. Staff professional and well trained. Menu was short yet varied and the food delicious. Traditional and classic restaurant which creates a relaxing environment with highest quality. Thank you to all staff
What a wonderful start to a great evening. Dropped off by car outside, lovely staff welcome, service was 6*, food was absolutely full of flavour and the dining room was fantastic. Great pre-theatre experience. Will definitely be back.
Came to Kettner’s for drinks and food. The drinks were so nice and the interior was lovely. Big shout out to our waiter called Kevin, he made the evening, was so friendly, gave us recommendations that were delicious! Would highly recommend
My friend and I had the best time today. We cannot thank Lara enough who served us in the restaurant . Her advice and recommendations for food and wine were absolutely spot on, and we would not hesitate to recommend Kettners unreservedly👍
excellent food , the service is immaculate and friendly , a great place to have a relaxed lunch/ dinner in a cosy space - a sure value
Charming rooms, and a nice vibey bar; hotel service is excellent, and the rooms are typical Soho House. Lovely little touches and generally easy to use. Bar is a cool, classic, comfy place for a drink and bite to eat. Plates were all good; nothing too out there, nothing exceptional but all good. Hefty wine list and decent cocktails. But they really do excel at making pleasant, casual-luxe spaces that are well lit and smell lovely. Will definitely stay again and will likely use the bar more frequently than Soho House, as it seems a bit more mellow overall.
We had such a lovely dinner here. Really looked after by the staff, food was delicious and memorable, prices very reasonable for central Soho. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend.
Lovely service, good food, cozy atmosphere. Really hit the spot for our needs tonight. Very nice early supper. Filling up now for the regular dinner hour as we prepare to leave. Pictured: Delica squash with lentils and wild mushrooms.
Visited for afternoon tea with my mum and had a lovely experience. We were given the option of sitting in two different areas and we chose the brighter bar area. I don’t eat gluten and my gluten free afternoon tea option was delicious and I didn’t feel I missed out on anything at all! The regular option that my mum had was also lovely. I thought it was great value for money too. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely return for afternoon tea.
The food and service excellent big shout out for our waitress Raluca and Marcim at the reception both just amazing, very professional knowledgeable. The food come very fast and from starters to desserts just spot on. Higley recommend
The best staff I ever encountered in a hotel, so nice and welcoming! The beds extra comfortable and rooms super clean. Was sad to leave
My favorite Hotel in London. Also they have the BEST Beds, loveliest staff, and a great vibe in general. I ONLY stay there when I come home to the UK for work or for fun catching up with friends. I also always stay there alone and I'm a single female and I have always felt incredibly SAFE at Kettners, which is SO important as a solo female traveller
We went Friday night for dinner/drinks and we had the best time. The food was great (we had burrata and the fish and duck mains), the stuff was friendly and attentive, but in my opinion the vibe of the restaurant was the highlight. We stayed from 20:30 until closure (01:00) and had an amazing time. Will come back!
A birthday evening event meal without regret. What a place!!! A very Warm welcome from the doorman to outstanding service with the hosts and cloakroom attendants. The restaurant had an upper class feel but with a sense of everyday people. The Lambs Leg was incredible and washed down with a lovely bottle of red after a nice godfather cocktail. Zero complaints, and an evening experience that topped the day off
I love this place. Almost don’t want to post and have it get out there.
Lovely meal at the Clarence Tavern restaurant. But what was most impressive was my time at the Champagne Bar for the 2023 NYE party. Ben - the barman for the evening - was a superb host. He truly values customer experience by tailoring cocktails to your individual taste. He made me some of his personal concoctions which were delicious. At one point, I asked him for a brandy-based cocktail taking account of what we already discussed in terms of my preferences, and he replied by asking me to give him a couple of minutes to think of something. He wasn't satisfied with giving me the first thing that popped into his head. He even asked colleagues to search the building for more ingredients to create what he wanted rather than settling for what was in the (already well-stocked) bar. Fab time. Thanks Ben!
We visited for my cousins birthday as a group of ten! Due to an issue with booking, our parties were split into two tables of 5, which was not what we had booked! All of the staff on site were great though, and did everything to make sure the night ended up feeling really special! Such a shame that the bookings weren’t quite up to the same standard! Would definitely still go back for the food, but maybe as a smaller party! The pie was gorgeous! Shout out to Magda, she was wonderful!
Brunch at Kettners - we didn’t stay here! Brunch was good & in a lovely setting. The interiors are beautiful as you’d expect with Soho House. Lovely that you can come without being a member. The food was generally good value; but I think the avocado on toast maybe could’ve been two slices for the price, especially once you’ve added eggs. The full English is great value though. They were really good with allergens as one member of the party was coeliac. The eggs with the avocado were a little watery. The service started off great with the host & waitress that took our order, however, someone else then took over the table and it took a while for plates to be cleared and it felt quite lack lustre when paying the bill. It was a shame the high standard wasn’t upheld throughout. Overall, a great spot in the heart of SoHo with some really good value delicious food. The English sparkling wine was also lovely !
Only experienced the restaurant post theatre matinee of Macbeth and pre seeing Mark Rylance in Juno & Paycock and it was lovely. A lovely steak frites and great wine menu. A calm atmosphere at 5pm-6:30pm with nice people and a buzzy cool vibe of people coming and going in the packed bar and the quieter cosy and chic restaurant Only down side was the service in that I asked specifically for whiskey with a single ice cube and was given it in rocks.
We didn't stay there so this review is for their bar only. Used to come here a lot before it turned into a hotel. I'm glad the bar retained its charm, and the cocktails were great. Not too crowded even on weekend nights. They used to have a much bigger champagne menu but now they've removed a large portion of that, which I felt was a pity.
Stopped for lunch with colleagues. Was proper lush. Decent food, wine etc - it's been a while since I was last here and now the whole place is owned and run by the Soho House Group (but you don't have to be a member to dine here), you know what you're going to get. Good service, decent drinks, and fantastic food. Pro tip: the chicken pie to share is GORGEOUS (and the arancini isn't so bad either). Enjoy!
Underwhelming dinner experience last night. The starter St, Jacques scallops were showered in salt and only edible by scraping off the seasoning. Similarly the cheese soufflé was very salty. One of our friends ordered the rabbit for starters and it was the size of a chicken leg (kiddie size), similarly the lamb chops were tiny. Having said this the steak frites was good. We had several desserts and these were good too. We had an issue with the bill as we were told a different price for corkage than what it actually was, but this was quickly resolved which we appreciated. However, within one minute of leaving the front door and while waiting for our Uber the security aggressively asked us to leave “the premises” which was unnecessary.
Had the most magical time there when they just re-opened in 2018. Great rooms but even greater restaurant. Piano live music, filled with pretty people, perfect atmosphere, unbelievable food, most professional and nice people working there. Best potato mash and best gravy I've had in my life. Perfection. Went back in 2019 and was devastated to find they turned the restaurant into a member's area. Replaced the great furniture in dining area with lounge interior. Replaced the piano with a DJ pult (????!!!) and menu with the same old Burger / Club Sandwich selection you'll find in every Soho House. People who used to go dine there came by and didn't get in because they're not Soho House members. Place was constantly empty. So sad. They ruined it. Please turn it back! Breakfast was still good.
Dinner with a group of friends. Food was unimpressive for the price, can't say was bowled over by the flavours, only the dessert was decent. Staff waiting the tables were decent but the receptionist at the entrance wasn't great- didn't even ask if we needed to leave our coats and when I asked she just handed me the hanger to hang it up myself. Points for the decor, dessert and waiters only.
Very mediocre dining experience. Firstly, I specifically ordered an alcohol free beer, but they messed it up and brought an alcoholic beer instead - which I only noticed half way through the bottle. They replaced the beer but even that had minor alcohol content, so we left it. There’s a very good reason for me not consuming alcohol, and this should have been paid attention to. The steak tartar was fine, but the chicken we ordered was very dry and overcooked. Sides and the steak were very average. At least they did admit to having messed up and that did reflect in the bill in the end. However, I don’t feel like coming back any time soon.
Used to go to the restaurant here before it became a private members club (for the arts crowd. Ironically, part financed by a private equity firm - Apollo). Now open to the general public. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, but very mediocre food. The standard of food has suffered as the ‘exclusivity’ has increased.
Very disappointing dinner experience, kitchen ran out of most orders, steak was of poor quality for £28 a piece, drinks were slow to come. Basically, not worth. Shame as location is great and atmosphere is warm.
Had a very disappointing experience here on Christmas Eve. The initial welcome was lacklustre, and service throughout was tardy, with a waiter who tried to charge us for drinks we sent back, was unhelpful with our order and generally unpleasant throughout. He attempted to both over and under charge us for the bill, and seemed wholly uninterested in actually providing us with decent service or any suggestions. We were celebrating a friend’s engagement, and this wasn’t acknowledged at all.
Overall: Low food quality, questionable recipes, drab interior with a brave smile. The decor is colloquial meets French …. 30 years ago. Great service from our waitress. The Maitre D’ was also the barman! We only discovered this on leaving. I sent my first drink back because my first drink was far too strong! … I ordered something else but didn’t have the heart to send that back also. The oysters were fresh and very good! Our starters, spring onions in chilli 🌶 & croquettes both tasted very greasy and I’m of the opinion the oil had not been changed recently! Mains 🤦🏻♂️….. the beef £28 (Sunday) was okay! It was too cold for my taste and a poor cut of meat. Not worth the money in any way compared to some of the local alternative restaurants. The pork shoulder £26 (with chickpeas coleslaw), what an abomination of a dish! Think kebab on a night out, on a plate and you won’t go far wrong.
Steak Frite was gristle with limp leaf for £60. Years since I’ve been. Awful let down. Nice staff. Clearly extractive owner and management.
Have come to this bar a few times over the past couple of years but I think I'm done. Sadly their champagne bar is no longer open to the public. I recently visited their main bar for a couple of cocktails with a friend before dinner elsewhere. The menu - a melange of sweet drinks with no classics available. The kicker - 14.5% service charge for sitting right at the bar. This kind of nonsense is getting out of control and really takes the customer for a ride. They obviously hate their customers with this sort of charge, so I won't be going back. There are plenty of interesting and beautiful bars (and hotel bars, for that matter), with interesting menus in Central London to choose from. Go elsewhere.
we order two course and the staff told us they run out, it just 7pm how could they run out everything. We have the reservations in advance and stay abt 1.5h, but the staff push us to leave the table told us they need our table when i haven’t finish my drink. And there still have two table available tho. it is my worst dining experience, it is the worst restaurant in london
Style over substance-Beautiful setting and very central if you are going to see a show but other than that, not a massive pull to go here. The waiters, waitresses and doormen were very pleasant but the food was not. Everything was under seasoned, bland and not hitting the mark. I am more than happy to pay for an expensive meal, but we probably could have done better at home, which was a real shame. As this was my Birthday meal, I wanted something extravagant and ended up feeling deflated and disappointed
