Have visited Tom’s Pasta on two occasions and both have been outstanding. It’s a hidden gem serving the most amazing Italian food with generous and delicious portions. Definitely no scrimping on the Parmesan either! Fantastic choice for great service and lovely atmosphere with the staff welcoming and very attentive all at a great price. Favourites have to be the garlic bun, beef shin lasagne and the tiramisu! Will definitely return and recommend to others.

Tom’s Pasta, literally does the BEST lasagne in London. I cannot put into words how nice it was! As you can see in the photos, the lasagne was absolutely towered with cheese! The atmosphere was amazing with great music too. The staff were like one big family, and Tom himself was there too greeting customers which was a really nice touch. Was a bit of a travel for me to get there, but will most definitely be visiting again and again! Recommend as a must visit!!

I have been lucky enough in many years on this planet to eat in some amazing places, Tom's Pasta is a top 3. The people are great, Tom who's a busy man was happy to spare a few moments so I could say "don't change a single thing" The food is exceptional, the Lasagne is the signature dish I think but we'll come back to that. For starters we had some sliced Italian meats which were top notch but the big juicy olives were succulent and as good as I've ever had. The Sourdough bread was tasty and plentiful but the Parmesan butter was a game changer. Now the Lasagne which is made with the Shin of beef with a mountain of Parmesan cheese on top was like no other Lasagna I've had before. It's rare you find a place where you don't think something could change, for example the food and service could be great but it's just over priced or the price is amazing and the foods great but the portions are tiny and the staff are crap. Well Tom's Pasta has every box ticked, the staff were just the right amount of attentive, the place itself is cool, the food as I may have mentioned was the best ever, the price was just right, £100 for 3 people, 3 starters, 3 drinks and 3 mains (remember this is in the crazy priced world of London). So if you are looking for a place that knows what it's doing and doesn't deviate from it does best this is the place to visit. No chips, no pizza, just quality pasta dishes.

Had a great time at Tom's Pasta, the friendly hostess got us a table without reservations, lucky for us someone had now showed. The beef shin lasagna was amazing and well worth the price. The soft serve ice cream with rhubarb was excellent end to a nice dinner.

Tom’a Pasta was so good! I ordered the Nduja Lasagna it was incredibly rich (a bit too much for me at the end tho) perfect for anyone who loves cheese and meat. My favorite dish was the Beef Shin Mafalda. The pasta texture really stood out. I’d definitely recommend both dishes, especially if you’re into hearty comfort meal.

Really delicious food, the lasagna and tiramisu are a must-try. The setup is a bit confusing at first since the bar shares the same space as the restaurant, and you order drinks separately at the bar, but it was explained to us when we arrived.

Loved the whole vibe. Very relaxed and casual. The weather was great so we were able to have dinner outside. The lasagna was to die for. Had Bruschetta and burrata to start, again very tasty. Can't fault it at all. I have already recommended it to friends and will be back again. It came to just over £50 a head but that included alcoholic drinks. We had a reservation so we didn’t have to wait for a table. Sadly some guy thought it was appropriate to sit in the outside dining area without his shirt off…. (He wasn’t anything special to look at). The waiter very kindly asked him to put his shirt back on!!!!! Felt bad for the waiter being put in an uncomfortable situation because of an inconsiderate individual. I’ve given it a four star for service because our drinks were forgotten and we had to re-order but that’s a very minuscule error.

This restaurant is truly amazing! The service was excellent — we were treated so well from the moment we arrived. We had to make a reservation because the place is always very busy, and now we understand why. We started with the burrata as an appetizer, which was delicious. Then we tried several main dishes: the lasagna, the rotolo, and some spaghetti with tomato sauce. Everything was absolutely spectacular, but the lasagna was on another level — truly incredible! For dessert, we had the super dulce de leche ice cream and the tiramisu. Both were fantastic, but the tiramisu was especially rich and flavorful. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!

We booked a table 3 weeks ahead for Tom’s pasta! It was the first time we’d been there and had high expectations. The restaurant is in a quaint little spot next to Hackney Downs and has outdoor seating and cozy indoor seating. I was a tad disappointed that our table was in the middle rather than on the edge which was free too but it was ok. The service was quick, not super duper attentive but friendly. We ordered straight away, got the sourdough and a salad as a starter and then two beef shin lasagne mains. The sourdough with Parmesan butter was delicious - you could definitely taste the cheese in the butter and the sourdough was excellent. The lasagne lived up to the hype I’ve never had one like this before - perfect temperature and not too liquidy, and the crispy top and caramelised pasta at the bottom were delicious. The ragu inside was super rich and had amazing flavour and beef shin was pull apart. The bechamel was extremely cheesy and peppery. All together it was sensational! The garlic bun was a nice side dish, a bit denser and wheat-y than I expected but really nice flavours and chewy bread texture. Tiramisu was very rich again, and well balanced - lots of coffee flavour. The beer and cocktail selection is great, so much to choose from. I would definitely come back and recommend this to others!

We don’t have a reservation for Friday evening but we were welcomed and only had to wait a short time before we got a table. Staff and food were excellent. Best lasagne I have had and the starters were delicious. Highly recommend

Amazing food at such a great value!! I’ve wanted to try Toms since it opened but wasn’t sure if it was just an overhyped TikTok restaurant however I couldn’t have been more wrong. The service was amazing despite how busy it was. The Nduja + Beef Shin lasagna was incredible and the shower of Parmesan was delicious. They even gave my friend a candle for their birthday. The only thing I’d change was that my friends were disappointed with the sticky toffee soft serve sundae as it was a bit small. Everything else was perfect, will definitely be returning.

Tom’s Pasta is one of my favourite restaurants in London. I visited in the summer with my mum and we’ve both been thinking about the lasagne ever since - we both agree it’s the best we’ve ever had. The service is impeccable and always so friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent options for veggies, yummy cocktails and all for such good value. I am local and will always come back. You must visit!!!

Quintessential Br-Italian, generous portions, top service by Evie. I recommend the parmesan butter and tiramisu, whereas sprinkle of pepper on mortadella was not necessary. The beef lasagna was pretty good, ideal for meat lovers, little pasta to taste if I have to find a defect. Quite hard to find booking slots, plan at least 2 weeks in advance and be flexible to dine on weekdays.

Jenny you’re a legend and deserve a pay rise! My girlfriend took me here for a birthday meal and we had the pleasure of being served by Jenny. We had the sourdough and Parmesan butter, which is a must have, as well as the burrata. Both were amazing! We then had the beef shin lasagne and the pumpkin and ricotta cannelloni, also both incredible. Jenny was an amazing server, who was very attentive and welcoming.

We tried the famous Beef Shin Lasagna and Baby Oyster Mushroom, Miso Chilli Tagliatelle - both were incredible 🌟 This is a cosy and intimate space near Hackney Downs Park with super attentive staff who made sure we had lovely dining experience.

Yummy. Start with the burrata and pesto (not pictured because I got too hungry and it was too delicious) Mushroom pasta with miso chilli was so good. Need more. Shin lasagna was oh damn. The shin was very tender and the portion was big. Had to have the garlic bread to soak up the miso chilli sauce. No regrets.

One of the most amazing dining experiences I’ve ever had. For reasons I won’t disclose here, the staff at Tom’s Pasta went above and beyond to make my visit as special as it possibly could have been. My only regret is not asking for the waiters’ names, as I would love to thank them personally for their kindness and care. The food was every bit as impressive as the service. The lasagne and tiramisu were easily among the best I’ve had in London. It was authentic, delicious, and very reasonably priced for the city. Although I visited solo on this occasion, I’ll be returning as soon as possible with friends and family. Thank you to the whole team for an incredible and unforgettable experience!

1000000000/10 as an Italian I was blown away by the quality and generosity. Better than home. Worth every penny

Great food. Can’t fault it. The Spritz seemed watered down though. Have to go to the bar if you want a beer.. but can order a cocktail to the table - not sure it makes sense.

Food is delicious, but I definitely go back for the vibe (they have a great taste of music 🫰🏼 Their £6 Negronis are also a must. Very spacious to bring a trolley, and they have q garden in case you need some fresh air or you have a baby who needs a quick walk.

Vibrant atmosphere, lovely staff and AMAZING food. We had the Nduja & Beef Shin Lasagne and the weekly special Lamb with Harissa Béchamel Lasagne. Both rich in flavour. Probably paired alongside the best Garlic Bun I've had in my life

New favorite restaurant in London! If you love good quality, good vibes, and decent prices, this is the spot. The staff were incredible and the atmosphere was perfect. We sat outside and enjoyed a late summer night meal and it was fantastic. I believe their menu changes but they’re known for their beef shin lasagne. I got the ravioli and it was so light, yet flavorful that I was ready for seconds and thirds. The blood orange spritz was the perfect summer cocktail at an unbeatable price. Will definitely be back!

Incredible food at really affordable prices. The quality of the fresh tomato’s, pasta and oils was superb. The venue itself is a shared space with a bar so you need to order yourself if you want beer / wine. They have a lovely front outdoors section where you can enjoy drinks or food. Staff were friendly, The toilets weren’t the best.

C

Lasagne done well, was incredible. Would even say revolutionary and now all other lasagne cannot compare. We had both the basic one and the nduja ones and the garlic roll. Delicious, preferred the plain and simple one. Pasta was perfect. Garlic roll was unfortunately brown bread which was not ideal. It was loud and dark and very hot but we did go peak heatwave - get some fans for some airflow please! Bar is a seperate business to Toms and it's a bit confusing knowing how to find Toms section when you go. They did explain it well when we were seated. Did have a blood orange spritz from Toms menu which was also delish. Also got a tiramisu to go which had melted in the heat on the way home (was still peng).

Worth the hype! We were lucky and managed to get a walk in table on a Friday 🙊 staff were super attentive and quick sitting us down and taking our order. The food came out so quickly and was amazing. The lasagna was of course the star of the show! Amazing flavours, quality meat, SOO much bechamel and cheese. Quite possibly the best lasagna I’ve ever ordered (my family Reggio recipe is still my fave ever though). Will definitely be back!

GARFIELD-GRADE SATISCACTION 🍝 📍 @hackneydownsstudios, Hackney, London ⭐️ 5/5 💸 ££ 🍴 If #Garfield lived in London, he’d be a regular at @tomspasta this is lasagna on a whole new level! Tom actually started the biz as a #lasagna delivery service by bike (absolutely genius), and it’s now grown into a cosy restaurant space in #Hackney Downs Studios, right next to the park, a buzzing, creative spot that adds to the charm 🌿 For main, I had the Pork & #Beef Lasagna and no word of a lie… probably the best lasagna I’ve ever had! Slow cooked beef shin #ragu, silky béchamel, homemade egg pasta sheets, cheddar and parmesan, it’s rich, indulgent and totally unforgettable 🍽️ We also tried the #bruschetta, and the tomatoes were so flavourful, fresh and naturally sweet 🍅 And yes, dessert is mandatory. Their #tiramisu is insane, creamy, dreamy, and the perfect ending to this Italian love story ✨ If you're a pasta fan (or just breathing) add this spot to your list.

We had an amazing experience at Tom’s Pasta! The lasagne was absolutely delicious - perfectly cooked layers, rich and flavorful sauce, and a beautiful balance of textures. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Definitely coming back!

Eaten twice at Tom's Pasta and thought it was time to do a review. The reason we went back was because it was it was so good the first time! Great atmosphere, service and amazing flavours across all the dishes we tried with obviously a special shout out for the famous lasagne!

Recently celebrated my 30th birthday and we had the best time. Clo made the booking process so smooth, and even with a large group of us it was simple for ordering/paying which can often be a hassle! The food was SO good as always and I was glad to have not overhyped the lasagne or tiramisu to everyone - they absolutely loved it all. Thanks so much for a fab night :)

The food here was absolutely delicious. We had the burrata, beef shin lasagna and the pumpkin cannelloni. The portions sizes were very generous and the food was amazing. Our waitress Jenny was very friendly and attentive and really made our night. We will definitely be returning and I would highly recommend.

Yummmm! Everything was amazing. The quality of the food was outstanding and the portions sizes were so great! Finally an Italian restaurant that doesn’t charge you massive pounds for a spoonful of pasta. The prices were a great reflection of what you recieved. The beef shin lasagne and the sourdough with the Parmesan butter were our highlights. Please open up a restaurant in Sydney!!

The Beef Shin Lasagne was incredible. The Tiramisu was perfectly layered and authentic. Great service from the friendly staff. Would be the first place I'd come back to if I visit London again.

Food was okay, nothing amazing or bad. The only highlight is maybe the tiramisu and the prices of meal for alright for London prices. The place is cute, had a nice atmosphere (the back room).

Delicious food, generous portions and affordable cocktails. Very attentive service plus the food arrived very fast, and yet we had to wait for our reserved table for around 5-10 minutes, and were charged an ‘optional’ service fee without being asked.

This place really nails their lasagna as it's something they've been working on for a long time. Juicy meat and sauce, lots of flavours , big portion of towering pasta layers . Messy and fun. Energetic staff and vibrant atmosphere. There is a great beer shop in the same space and of course there is wine. Winning formula

Such a cool ambience in this restaurant — great vibe and even better staff! The food was excellent. I’d definitely recommend the fan favourite, the beef shin lasagna, as well as the sausage and Brussels pasta. They do go a bit OTT with the Parmesan, which I found slightly overbearing at times, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. The bread with Parmesan butter and the olives are an absolute must to start with. I’ll definitely be making another visit!

Beef shin lasagne is pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. I couldn't stop comparing it to just an M&S lasagne. Tom's negroni was good. Service was excellent.

amazing vibes and food was very tasty i just personally prefer my pesto dry/crusty & the pasta was slightly overcooked?? but very great experience overall!! the bread and butter slayed & the cocktails were good. more veggie options would be appreciated!!

Finally got the chance to try this place that we’d been following on insta for a while. The bruschetta was yummy with delicious tomatoes but the bread was slightly too toasted as it was quite hard to cut. The beef shin lasagne was just as seen online and delicious. Maybe a tad too much Parmesan? (Is that possible?!) The tiramisu was also yummy but not as light and fluffy and we like it. The service was very relaxed and chilled with lovely staff. They did bring our food before drinks but that doesn’t matter! The new garden is lovely.

It’s an amazing place! The bruschetta is a must have, we loved all the appetisers honestly. We thought mains were good but not exceptional but bruschetta was the best I have ever had.

Wonderful spot! The service was friendly and quick, the food was delightful and very reasonably priced. The parmesan butter was rich and interesting. Nothing crazy to shout about for the burrata just good quality oil, salt and bread made for a nice start. The mains were fantastic! Beef shin lasagne was deep and flavourful, not as saucy as other lasagnes I’ve eaten but the meat was tender and melt-in-your-mouth good, a spin on a classic that really works. The sausage and leek pasta was warming and saucy with the perfect amount of spice. Make sure to save some bread for mopping it up! Both topped with an unbelievable amount of Parmesan, no need to tell your server when to stop grating. In hindsight it would have been better not to get two rich and meaty mains to share, something creamy or more complementary would have been a good idea but there’s always next time! They also have a wonderful range of cocktails or you can purchase beers from the separate bar inside. It’s a lovely location run by guys who clearly love making good food that makes people happy.

M
Michael “Lanre” Daramola

Right so, when you come here 2 things you need to get which are the sourdough + Parmesan butter and the beef shin lasagne(with or without the nduga) honestly the best you’ve ever had.

K
Kerry “Kezza” H

The bruschetta and burrito starters were gorgeous 10/10. The mains, ninja beef shin lasagne 10/10. Italian sausage and greens rigatoni, pasta was a little bit too al dente, one specific herb, which we think was fennel, bit overpowering so this unfortunately scores 6/10. The pudding Tirimisu, was very disappointing, it didn't taste fresh, think it had been frozen, we give it a 1/10!! The staff and ambiance were on point, couldn't fault them !

M
Mathy Lacm

Was very excited for this but definitely an over hyped place. Personal opinion: -small menu, 3 pasta choice with beef shin protein -The balsamic vinegar was too sweet in the bruschetta -beef shin nduja lasagna was wayyy to salty -tomato confit was too plain - we ended up mixing the two all together … -the tiramisu was nice tho !

C
Calvin Chang

Honestly disappointed 😭 I’ve been wanting to come here so badly and it was lowkey a let down. The service was nothing special, the waitress came and took our order and that was it. The food was lackinnggg in salt. Most things had so much potential and would’ve actually tasted good if it had salt. It was underwhelming. The garlic bun was also not a bun. It was sourdough. If you get ONE starter it has to be the bruschetta!! So so good. The lasagna was pretty good and I think it was worth the hype. Only thing would be that it was very mushy. The Tiramisu was good but SOOOO sweet. You’d be done after 2 bites. Overall, the prices were good and the atmosphere was good!

R
Reiss Krygier-Mclaren

Tasty food but I really cannot go above 3* due to the service. The staff were friendly but the restaurant was not busy but before we’d even taken a sip of our drinks our starters had arrived, and when we were halfway through our starters our main dishes arrived and were left at the edge of the table to get cold. We felt rude but asked for them to give us a bit of time between our mains and desserts which to their credit they did. The food is decent - the bruschetta is a good portion and light and refreshing in your mouth. I think the sausage and leek pasta is the highlight for the main, while the Tiramisu to finish goes down a treat. I liked the food here, but felt a little disappointed that we had a 3 course meal + drinks and we were rushed out in under an hour

I visited Tom’s pasta this week with my fiancé for an impromptu date night. Upon arrival we were welcomed and seated immediately. Our server was attentive and offered recommendations which was great. We ordered the burrata with pesto and bruschetta to start. They were impeccable and set the tone for the night to be one filled with delicious food. However, I would say things went a bit downhill from there. Our order got mixed up with another table even though the restaurant had just opened and our lasagna was sent to another diner. The couple next to us had received and eaten their mains before I enquired to our waitress where our food was. She apologised and seemed sweet about it. But it was somewhat frustrating considering we had other plans and had been waiting for close to 40 minutes. Not the best look when you’re asking for a 12.5% tip. The lasagna wasn’t great. Very much overcooked and dry (couldn’t taste any sauce or flavour). The meat was nice but for the price you would expect much better and for it to at least to be hot. Disappointing as that is the USP of the restaurant. Overall I think the starters made the meal a good trip but I wouldn’t return. Worth it if you’re in the area and need a quick bite but not something I would go out of my way for or have high expectations of.

C
Claudia Wilson

I ordered the beef shin lasagna and received a lasagna with barely any meat in and almost no ragu sauce. It was just cheese and pasta. I couldn’t finish it due to this and took the lasagna apart to find the meat and found about 3 pieces. As you can see from the picture it was primarily bechamel sauce and doesn’t look like the images advertised

My first visit here was far better food wise than my 2nd visit. It suffers from consistency issues. Bruschetta 8/10 Buratta 8/10 Lasagne 7/10 Beef shin ragu 5/10 Italian sausage 5/10 Wild mushroom 4/10 Tiramisu 6/10 I cannot reccomend a restaurant where the starters are far better than the mains. There was almost medicinal taste to the Italian sausage and the wild mushroom pasta tasted overly sweet like a dessert. The blood orange spritz was good 7/10 This is a pity as the service and atmosphere was really good.

Went for valentines day and had their £100 set menu for 2. I mean let's get the positives out the way. Service was good for the most part, servers were attentive and catered to our needs i.e allergies etc, one highlight for me personally was the server saw me leave for a ciggerette between coursesnand held my main course back a few minutes.... Very nice attention to detail there. Now more importantly the food, it was below average on a whole. Let's go through everything we had Firstly the bread course. Soughdough, parmesan butter and cerignola olives. Olives were fine, bread was bread and the butter was mediocre the parmesan did nothing but look like snow and tasted equally bland. A meh out of 10....meh equals a 3.5 The starters were a caprese salad (Asked for tomoto to be removed) due to allergies and a coppa, serrano, speck, with some sort of pickle. Which sounded fancy but just tasted like any fatty serrano ham you could from the supermarket. Unfortunately everything tasted of low quality ingredients... I mean I dipped the bread into the olive oil that was on the caprese salad and was well again underwhelmed.... Which is a shame as a good quality olive oil would have probably saved the other poorly souced ingredients at least. Then came the 2 starters, the beetroot and ricotta ravioli and the squid ink and baby brown shrimp. I mean the ravioli was about 30 seconds undercooked and was hard (not Al dente, straight up chalk) the filling was stingy and tasted if the water it was boiled in actually leaked into it, I mean if there was any flavour it was ruined by the additional water, then the sauce it was served with was just tasted like melted unsalted butter and a touch of pepper, I mean it wasn't even browned butter with at least that would've given it some complexity. The squid inked spaghetti wasn't much better neither it was a slightly irony tasting spaghetti with brown shrimp and butter. Now onto the mains, we both opted for the meat lasagne aka the short rib beef, this was the biggest disappointment of the night.... The meat sauce was straight up unseasoned and kinda gross, the pasta was fresh so had zero tooth and was too delicate for a lasagna... It had the texture of pudding... I finished my plate because I despise throwing away/wasting food, it's a shame because I genuinely love a good lasagna.... Again it was piled on with young pamesan and added nothing to the dish, it was served along side some pink lettuce or something which I ate to cleanse my palate as the lasagna was truly awful and was the only way I managed to put away the food. I mean to make matters worse it was also burnt, and not yummy burnt aka the best bits of a regular lasagna the ewww gross and bitter kind of burnt. We also ordered 2 drinks a blood orange spritz and a coke.... The drinks were decent, which is saying alot as I was having to take sips throughout the meal to get rid of the taste of the food. So what is more concerning that this was a concentrated menu and not their usual menu so you expect everything to be perfect, and absolutely nothing was given there was only a handful of choices that night. This gives me absolute zero faith if I was to come again that next time it would be any better. Now onto the dessert, again it was like a 4/10 tiramisu, portion was fine as it was a shared portion however, could barely taste any alcohol, and the cakey bit aka the lady's fingers was too thin, it just tasted like a weak coffee cake/mousse. We were asked, at the end how everything was and I told them not good, to which the server seemed surprised, we were later informed before paying that the manager comped our drinks as we didn't enjoy the food, which was a nice gesture but not enough in my opinion, a full or at least a partial refund would've been better. It genuinely is a real shame as I had higher hopes for this place. If u want a tastier pasta place I'd stick to Vapianos.

Tom’s Pasta. Walked in last minute before closing so options were thin. Starters were good. The lasagna was not edible on the night and we both felt unwell afterwards. I can’t prove it was from here, but it killed any appetite to try more. Service was fine and the room has a casual feel, yet the pasta didn’t justify a return. Maybe it plays better earlier in service, but based on this visit I wouldn’t recommend it.

K

We had really high hopes for Tom’s Pasta after booking a table over a month in advance and seeing all the buzz online. Sadly, the experience was incredibly disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service was disorganised and inattentive. It took speaking to three different servers before we were finally able to place our order. The theme continued for our drinks order and our bill, making it an incredibly frustrating experience. Once the food arrived, it was lukewarm and underwhelming. We ordered the ’nduja lasagne but were likely given the regular one instead. There was no heat, no depth of flavour, and no signs of any béchamel sauce. The whole dish was mushy and bland, more like something poorly reheated than freshly made. Given our 8:15pm reservation, I suspect it had been sitting around for a while. Our tomato dish and sausage dish were also lacking any real flavour. Perhaps the restaurant shouldn’t have doubled in size if it can’t maintain the quality of the food or service. What was meant to be a nice treat turned out to be a real letdown. Unfortunately, it seems the social media hype just doesn’t match the reality. Definitely not worth the three hour round trip.

Rudely Turned Away in the Rain for Absolutely No Reason Me and my partner decided to try this place after seeing it on EatClub's Hackney Festival and booked a 5:30–6:00pm arrival slot. I travelled for over an hour in the pouring rain and arrived at approximately 5:58pm. I thought the restaurant looked beautiful and patiently waited my turn. There were three tables in front of me in the queue, and by the time the hostess came to greet us it was 6:03pm — which, in itself, I had no issue with. I am very sure of these times as I checked my phone as I felt it was taking some time. What was an issue was being told that walk-ins were only accepted between 5:30pm and 6:00pm. I politely explained that it was literally 6:03pm, that we had travelled over an hour, and that the delay wasn’t even on our end. The restaurant was visibly half empty, with over half the tables unoccupied. There were also other guests being seated outside while we were being turned away. I offered to sit outside myself or to wait, but the hostess showed zero empathy. She repeatedly cut me off mid-sentence, simply saying “I’m sorry” with a completely stone-cold expression. If you’re going to enforce such a rigid cutoff, then seat people promptly. It was not our fault that service at the door took several minutes. Also, nowhere was it clearly stated that walk-ins would not be accepted even a minute past 6pm. Turning people away at 6:03pm — especially after they’ve travelled over an hour in heavy rain — feels unnecessarily inflexible and frankly absurd. Mind you this place is also 18 minutes away from the closest tube station. I have never once ate at a restaurant in London that didn't honor a grace period. If I had been forewarned about this warning then I think it may be slightly more acceptable but still wrong as I arrived in the door before 6pm. Don't use EatClub and be on its Hackney Restaurant Week to advertise walk ins if you're going to turn away walk ins. The only prerequisite that was set in the app is that we must pay before 7:45. There is not a single warning on the restaurant's listing or even their website that states that you cannot not be seated by 6pm exactly or be turned away. The interaction left me feeling genuinely unwelcome and uncomfortable, particularly given that other guests were being accommodated at the same time and were visibly sat outside as well. At no point was I rude or raised my voice — I was simply trying to explain the situation. If you are surprised by this story, I don't blame you I was gobsmacked myself. What restaurant in London is heartless enough to not want further patronage, and turn away people who travelled over an hour because they were excited to eat its food. It is both cold and a nonsensical decision for a restaurant located so far out of central. Don't believe the marketing for a place that markets itself as young, down to earth and welcoming, the hospitality was anything but. Its clearly just another corporate grab that has no empathy and rude service.
