Barbara's is a hidden gem in the Arts District, known for its great beer selection, friendly staff, and cool, unpretentious vibe. It's located in an industrial complex/art space. Some find the prices a bit high. A recent health inspection resulted in a C grade.

Good vibe! Super close to the stronghold climbing gym... A lot of climbers go here after climbing. It's located in the large old school industrial looking area. I wasn't able to sample the food because the kitchen closes at 10 and I got there at 10:30 😁
This is a great little restaurant. I used to frequent it often before COVID, then they had to close down. I'm so happy that they are back. It is a hidden place, but navigation will take you straight there. Make sure to grab a parking pass on the way in. They have a good selection of beers and mixed drinks. The food is excellent and full of flavor.
This place is unique--even considering the artsy-lofty area. The rotating beer list is well coordinated, and the bar tenders make mean cocktails as well. It's a bit hidden, but well worth the side quest to visit.
Locals only. Understated, friendly, and some of the consistently great bar food. Family owned and operated. Bar staff have been there for years. Great mix of artists, engineers, medical and nursing students and also licensed medical staff. One of the best bars in LA. Bring your friends and have a great night.
The food quality keeps getting better. Plenty of unique beers available with new beer being featured often. Great artwork to be seen all around. Three outside patio areas to choose from. Chill ambiance and decent music playing. :)
Food and drinks were amazing. Great times … location maybe hard to find but Overall I’m happy we found it. The smoke Stackhouse ✅pancakes wow.
Barb's is the best watering hole in the area. It's unique in that it is a crossroads of artists and health Care professionals. Family owner, this place has a great service staff and will buy or shake your hand as soon as you sit down or walk through the door. They have a regular and revolving menu with one of the best very selections in the area. Simply the best .
Very cool spot amongst the Brewery art lofts. Not too hard to find and normally parking is ok. Food is quite good recommend the black and blue burger with a local IPA! Extremely helpful staff. Order at the bar and they bring to your table.
Barbara's is a quaint little place tucked inside the old PBR brewery. The staff will make sure that they take care of you just right. I've been helped by Beev and Cory on multiple occasions - they are as great with their service as they are friendly! Not only are the drinks and food delicious (they recently added poutine and the wings were so good!) but you get to check out wonderful art pieces on display by one of the local art community residents. I make it my goal to visit every time I'm in LA. So make sure you stop in for a delicious brunch or hit up Barbara's for a drink next time you're in the neighborhood. You won't be disappointed. Love you all!
Love this place. Foods ok, but it’s a local hangout for us hungry tired hospital residents. Lots of seating. Love the selection of ciders especially the probiotics filled ones. Love the tachos (tader tot nachos) and the artichoke dip is good. The bbq chicken pizza is good. Bathrooms are a bit dirty and there’s only one ladies and one men’s ... sometimes a line. Also small amount of outdoor seating nice for summer.
This has always been one of my favorite places. I lived at The Brewery for over 20 years. I actually knew the original Barbara. I think she would be proud of the wonderful establishment this has become. Hats off to Ross, his amazing chefs, bartenders and staff. The drinks are stellar, as always but even better than before. The food has been elevated to a new level. Tonight they had an amazing Carnitas plate. The meat was unequivocally probably the best I’ve had in Los Angeles. Ross’ attention to detail and perfection is unmatched. This is world class dining in a very secret and a wonderful place. Thank you, thank you thank you.!
Simply put, I love Barbara's. Their food is consistently tasty, especially the nachos. Their wide variety of rotating craft beers on tap are top notch. The vibe is strong, as are the cocktails. Barbara’s is located in the Brewery Art Lofts, which brings in plenty of fun characters. They have a few TVs playing whatever big sports game is on. Tons of space. Highly recommend.
Went in for a drink to watch the Dodger game. Ended up celebrating with strangers when the dodgers came back against the Rockies. 😎 The spot is hidden in the back but super cool to walk into a warehouse location and where the train used to pass through. Staff was very friendly and plenty of parking
Really enjoyed my stop at Barbara's. I wanted a quick bite while in the area and they did not disappoint. After perusing their menu I chose the poutine with ancho chicken. This was the best combination of nord des lignes and sur de la frontera. I really enjoyed it with the porter I ordered and found the whole meal to be reasonably priced. If you're into sports, they've got you covered with multiple TVs. I will be back to check out more of the brews and explore the menu. Check this place out!
We stopped in for an afternoon beer on a hot day and they have Pliny the Elder on tap! Cool art space that’s been around for a while! Dogs welcome on the patio and there’s cool ac inside. Next time lunch for sure!
Came here for memorial for lynn foulkes. Stayed for the food.
Barbara's Brewery, nestled in the vibrant artistic enclave of downtown LA, is a testament to creativity and conviviality. The fusion of locally brewed delights and classic American cuisine mirrors the community's eclectic spirit. Amidst the lively ambiance and diverse conversations, it's a haven where culinary craftsmanship meets artistic expression, inviting all to indulge.
Can’t believe I didn’t know about this place!! True hidden gem. Unpretentious, cool, friendly, and really high quality food. Very pleasantly surprised by the excellent and huge beer selection too 🤯! Will return for sure.
Great food selection with an excellent beer menu. This place is tucked away in an industrial complex where a brewery once was but their interior is warm and welcoming. The staff present were quite friendly and knowledgeable.
Delicious vegan options at this family-owned bar (@barbsatthebrew). Located in the Artist Colony, downtown Los Angeles. Pictured below are the squash tacos 🌮👍🏼

I absolutely LOVE Barbara's!! Love the ambiance, love the menu options, great staff and people hanging out! I've moved out of state but whenever I'm back in town/L.A., my friends and I meet up here. We ended up at a multi-artist art show on this recent visit!
It was where our workplace had our all staff Christmas party was held. The appetizers we had were all very delicious: loaded nachos, pita bread with humus and creamy mushroom dip, French fries drizzled with sauce and the drinks were the brewery's best spirits.
great food, great beer, great location, great people, great staff. if you don’t like this place we can’t be friends.
Discovered this bar & restaurant while attending an art walk at the Brewery and we were instantly infatuated. The place was low key in the perfect way. Loved the changing art for sale throughout the interior. The two patios are always popular for groups that enjoy bringing their dogs or just want some fresh-ish LA air. Cocktails and food dependably good.

good place. it wasn’t packed at all and it was nice to sit and have a drink with friends without loud music blasting the entire time. also the bartender was friendly and recommended a DELICIOUS blue probiotic beer—that changed color! would definitely come back here. nice and chill place to be at.
Interesting Bar/Pub located amoungst a artist community. A good selection of beers are always available and a small menu of pub affair. The specials board is usually a good gamble as well as a order of chicken wings or a burger. The Short Rib Grill Cheese is usually a miss on any night thus stick with the staples. The local crowd is always a blast to hang with, so enjoy.
Been meaning to stop but it didn't happen till now. Good selection of beers. It was a late lunch, not crowded, had a couple Craftsman 1903 lagers--low ABV. The Mediterranean salad was excellent. Pub food looked good, with other, tasty, healthy options available. Fun decor. Will return.
Great tap selection and a comfortable space. We only ordered appetizers, but they were well made and the price was fair. Service was quick and our bartender was attentive when we needed anything. They're listed on Untappd, so it's a great place to follow to see if any interesting beers pop up. I'd recommend going during Happy Hour to take advantage of the pricing as well.
Barbara's has always been a great little spot, they have a funky eclectic menu, the food is good, the environment is really nice, and I do recommend this place, it's lovely as is the entire Brewery. Alot of good, local craft beer too.
I had dinner as part of a group. Some servers were great, brought us our drinks, and were very helpful when I asked about gluten-free options. Another server was a bit rude when someone at our table asked for a beverage - she told him she didn't do that, and to that he had to go to the bar to order. But overall, a good place to dine out with a party.
Always happy to find a good bottomless mimosa spot in the neighborhood! I like their brunch menu, especially their chilaquiles. Been here a few times for lunch - the burgers and fish tacos are a-okay, but nothing special. I mostly come back for the awesome beer selection! The restaurant is spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. There are a ton of parking spots in their lot. This is a good, casual spot for groups and for lazy weekend brunches :)
This brewery makes for a great post-climb treat! Me and some coworkers came to hang out here after rock climbing at the Post which is a 3 min walk away. You order at the bar and they give you a number to place at your table. They had a good variety of beers to choose from but I just got food. I had the fries chicken sandwich. Value wise its just okay but the chicken was mostly breading. Each bite was juicy and flavorful though.
Good place to kill time in between my doctor appointments at USC. Drinks were good and so was the food.
My new go to place came for happy hour everyone was tired and not smiling came for brunch everyone was smiling so hence the 4 stars was gonna give 3 but since the bartenders and waiters were good and happy and no attitude I said this place is a keeper

Met up with some friend here. The fish was so good, and fries were good. Everyone enjoyed their food and they have a great variety of beers. I like pineapple drinks, so the aloha was very tasty. The prices are a bit much for what you are getting. I would go back but maybe during like a happy hour?

Three of us ate lunch there today. Despite what is on their website and menus, their kitchen opens at 11:30, not 11 am. We waited for a bit, ordered our food and grabbed a table. You carry your own drinks back to the table with you and they bring your food. I had the blue cheese burger which was a good size and very tasty. Despite being the only patrons in the place, our fries did not come out hot. I thought they were ok, but my dining companions really liked the fries. Free refills on fountain drinks. The cucumber water was tasty as well. I would eat here again, but not before trying some other places in the area.
Had the totchos and wings, they were delicious. However, if you want even mediocre service, I’d go elsewhere. We weren’t even greeted. Sat at a table for about 5-7 mins. Finally went and sat up at the bar and were able to order. The girls were talking about their personal business and on their phones and less than accommodating. First time i didn’t leave a tip.
Good food. A bit overpriced, waitress could have been nicer, it wasn't busy... Bartender male was very accommodating and pleasant, female was a bit stand offish, but nothing in her Craft. Idk, considering the open minded, unique customers it draws and awesome metal artwork hanging around, I hoped for a little more for the money. Decent experience. Kitchen was amazing, food was delicious, seasoned well, delivered on satisfaction. Just lack Lister staff. I'd still recommend for the ambiance and food.
Normally, we love going to this funky hideaway located in an Artists Community in DTLA. Usually we have tasty food and great service. This was not one of those times. After running errands in the area, we decided to grab lunch before heading home. I don't eat meat, so I was going to order a Tuna Melt. Whereas my hubby was ready for BBQ wings. We arrived at least several hours after they opened too. He grabbed a menu and placed our order, and the bartender said they didn't have either of them. Please note, with their current menu that left me 2 choices...a salad or meatless nachos. No one can mess up nachos right, WRONG. They were dry and tasteless. My mixed drink was tasty, yet filled to the brim with ice. No one ever came by to check on us, to see if we wanted more food, how about another drink? Nothing, nada. This really is a cool location and I hope things return to where they were last year.
Staff was pretty rude, openly complaining about other customers in our presence. Food was tasteless and very greasy and took a long time to arrive even when it wasn’t busy at all. Overall, it could be a good place to hang out if these things were improved.
This was one of my favorite spots. That was 7 or so years ago. The menu was extensive. The staff was kind. But been back a few times and i have to say I've been severely disappointed. Snooty staff, snooty clientele. Look i get it you want your patrons to be pretentious hipster artist. But it is not inviting to the outside world. Make this a members only!
After waiting quite a bit of time for anyone to actually be working the bar, Came in for food 40 minutes before their kitchen was supposed to be closed according to all signage and info online. Only to be told that the kitchen was closed right then. Almost a whole hour early. Maybe you should update some signage. That is all.
First and last time coming here. Went here for the Dodgers Game 7 Saturday night and they had ONE BARTENDER the WHOLE GAME. Minimum wait was 20-25 minutes to just order a beer. It was faster getting the food than ordering a drink. People started walking out over the insane wait times. Food was mediocre, nothing to write home about. With plenty of other breweries nearby, there’s no reason to come back.

Staff is uncomfortable with (at least some) people of color. There was the usual "what are you doing in here look" that ppl of color get when they go into certain spaces. In this case it wasn't an explicit racist one, it was the uncomfortable one. I have to give credit to the bartender, once I started a conversation, he responded and looked more relaxed and friendly. The server however looked like she really had to try, and when she came over and heard our conversation (we were talking about racism within our own community, not from white people) she gave the biggest eye roll and changed her attitude towards us. It's one of those encounters where there's no actual complaint you could make because they did their job. But as I see at least one patron already mentioned, this place could do with some diversity. I had heard good things from this place pre-pandemic and was looking forward to visiting. I have no idea if there were any major changes that changed the vibe or what. But just wanted to share. -- The food was horrible, we only had appetizers but the ingredients were not fresh at all. The beer was decent actually and selection was okay.
Came here at 12 pm wanted to do breakfast it’s in the middle of no where, super small place, idk if I’d recommend tbh we didn’t even eat we went and left
Terrible service. There were about 5 people in the entire place and none of the bar tenders even acknowledged us. The methy blonde lady completely ignored us and attended someone else who had just walked in when we were the only people at the bar for about 5 minutes. Considering the entire place was dead and depressing, you would think they would be a little nicer to customers. Save your time and money and go to Benny boy brewery down the street with much better service and nicer interior. I would never return to this place.
UPDATE !!! HEALTH INSPECTION -> C Grade! DO NOT EAT HERE! Saw the writing on the walls. Due to lack of accountability and arrogance by the owner, Barbara's now has a health grade of C. Eat at your own risk of food poisoning. It's bad. _____________________ This review is specifically for the kitchen. Do better. The food is mediocre at best. Old, half rotten salads, brown avocado.. is extremely common. The hummus is so bland it tastes like cardboard. The burgers and fries are extremely salty. The artichoke dip is soupy. They often run out of ingredients or the oven is down... I could go on.. The beer selection, atmosphere and people can make up for so much.. The kitchen needs to get their act together.. asap.
