I'm not typically a fan of faux-meat burgers, but this spot might make you reconsider. I had the Oklahoma Smash Burger with large fries – reasonably priced and surprisingly tasty. It had the look and flavor of a classic greasy smash burger. The retro ambiance added to the experience. An amazing burger joint that I'll surely revisit.
Vegans (and people looking to eat more plant based) rejoice! Burgerlords is a super fun burger spot serving plant based burgers, shakes, and fries in a super fun diner themed restaurant. There’s also a decent amount of outdoor seating and in the summer, they put even more tables out on the sidewalk/street area. We got a strawberry shortcake shake, fries, a double brainburger, and the weekend breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was the star of the show for me. It had so much in it and the flavors were great. I would probably skip the shake. As a non vegan, I felt that the texture and flavor wasn’t really my cup of tea. Absolutely obsessed with the decor here and will definitely be back. New weekend tradition unlocked!
It was a busy Friday evening but still ample seating at the counter. I love the vegan cheeseburger, but this time we just had nuggets and the lord of the fries as a pre-show snack. The nuggets are so filling and delicious. I suggest it to help soak up a night of alcohol.
We were visiting from out of town for a concert at the Lodge Room. When my husband was looking at restaurants near the venue, he found this one and saw they had a veggie burger for me. When we walked in, I noticed it was all vegan. My husband likes his meat, but he said he’d give it a try. I had the cheeseburger and he had the “beefy” cheeseburger. Both were very tasty, even my husband thought so. Prices were very reasonable for eating out. I wish we had one closer to home.
My favorite vegan burger place so far due to excellent savory tasty burgers, fries, and shakes. I always get the Brainburner and a coffee shake and share fries with my spouse. I can’t remember the name of the burger he got - name of a state or city I think? He enjoyed it. The staff are warm and helpful without being overburdening and the ambience is kinda old meets new in the best way. They play decent catchy tunes as well. Been here a few times and will be back. (Btw - I wouldn’t say I eat strictly vegan but it’s around 65% of the time.)
Just great food. Even with covid happening the service was quick and friendly. Typical pricing from a vegan joint that sells fast food (which means sort of pricey). But, filling, homemade, comfort food was well worth it. The "Brain Dead" burger was packed with spicey flavors with a unique texture. A great break from other vegan burgers I've had in the past. Good shakes too! Oh and I love the specials! Good ideas I'll have to try.
This location is like the elevated, hip in n out that only serves delicious vegan burgers. This place has wonderful mid century diner style atmosphere that is as charming and hip as it's customer base. Delicious vegan burgers, I had the classic cheeseburger and my partner had the Brain burger which came with yummy chips inside. Fries were perfectly crispy outside and soft on the inside. Staff is friendly, and there's a bathroom at the back if your bladder is bursting like mine was 😂 Overall, great spot, which I will return to again and again.
If you’ve been searching for that perfect burger, with the perfect bun, look no further. Had the single cheeseburger with an order of fries. Everything was fresh, not over cooked and tasty. Burger, although cooked more than I would like, was still juicy and full of flavor. Bun was super fresh, soft and warm. fries were hot and not over salted. Good value too!
So good. This is among the best vegan burgers I've had. The crunchy jalapeño chips enhance a juicy burger 🍔 that has all the elements of creamy and hearty one expects in comfort food. The Burgerlords thousand island, ranch sauce, and pureed pepperoncini hot sauce are fire 🔥.
I love the art on the walls. The burger was so filling. Nice staff. I can imagine when it’s busier, the vibrating thing that lets you know your order is ready is a better system than yelling out names/numbers.
Best vegan burger i ever had! Crunchy and with good flavor, even my dad, who doesn’t like vegan food, love it! We ordered an original burger and the braindead colab burger 🍔 I only took one picture of the burger and it was blurry 🥲
This is where you take your meat eating friends when you’re craving a burger but have dietary restrictions. I had the Burgerlords cheeseburger which was fabulous and had so much flavor. My friends got the “Beefy” burger and it was a great in-house meat substitute. The textures were great, flavors were burger-y. Highly recommend the fries as well - crispy and DELISH! If you can’t have dairy their “Milkshakes” had the perfect texture and amazing flavor. A great choice for when you cant decide where to go!
I've been meaning to come here awhile and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I asked for a recommendation and the server suggested the '91 on Rye, which is like a vegan Reuben and was so great. My non-vegan husband loved the burger and animal fries. The Oinksterade was really tasty and fresh, not overly sweet. We got to sit at the countertop and look through some interesting books they have there. Music was also banging. Easy parking across the street. Basically no excuses you must make a stop, next time I'm going to crush one their delicious looking milkshakes.

I work across the street from here and have seen the changes first hand, as I am not vegan I can’t comment on the missed wave of 100% vegan food. For a carnivore though, we can honestly say there isn’t a better burger on Fig. Yes the previous owners had Dj nights, as they had a beer and wine license, I don’t think this place sells alcohol anymore. Down to the food: The meat skirts of the burgers are huge and hang around the bun with gooey melted cheese, it’s a true simple smash burger and will satisfy anyone looking for that dream bite. Fries are skinny and taste remarkably like McDonald’s my fav thing to do is order the fries and shake and dip the fries in.
As someone who has been a loyal fan of Burgerlords since their early days in Chinatown, I was excited to revisit them at their Highland Park location, eager to introduce what I believed was one of the best burgers in the city to a friend. My previous experiences had set high expectations, thanks to their homemade bread, tallow fries, and the simplicity that makes their offerings stand out. This time, I decided to indulge in their Oreo milkshake. The richness of the tahini was pronounced, adding a unique twist that complemented the burger perfectly. It’s a milkshake that not only satisfies a sweet tooth but also feels richer and more digestible, making it a great pairing with their burgers. Speaking of the burgers, they continue to impress. The meat is flavorful, and the cheddar cheese is undoubtedly real, offering that authentic cheesy goodness that’s often missing in fast-casual spots. My recommendation? Go for a double patty but hold off on the onions—they can be a bit overwhelming. Stick to the classics with ketchup and mustard. However, be prepared; the burgers are on the smaller side, so for the price, consider getting two small ones if you’re hungry. There’s also a way to save a few bucks: dropping one patty shaves off $3, and skipping the drink cuts down the cost even more. Now, onto the fries. I’ve had a love-hate relationship with their tallow fries. When delivered, they often arrived soggy and cold, but I had hoped that ordering them fresh at the location would make all the difference. Unfortunately, they were overcooked, which is disappointing given the potential of using tallow, an ingredient that usually promises crispy perfection. It’s a missed opportunity for something great. The Highland Park location was quiet when I visited, just after a family who seemed to leave disappointed after an interaction with the staff. While I’m not sure what that was about, I can say that despite some hiccups, I still like this place. Yes, it may be a bit overpriced for a smash burger, but the quality is there, and that’s what counts for me. Overall, I’ll be back, and I’ll continue to recommend Burgerlords—just with a few caveats for those fries
Amidst the rising competition for vegan fast food, this place has better quality food than most. I'd recommend the Tahini Oreo shake, stir well and enjoy what may be the best vegan shake yet. Brain dead burger with original patty is a solid meal. Just be aware there's a lot of seasoning going on, but there's no remorse that you'll get from other vegan fast food restaurants.
Delicious vegan fare at an affordable price! I highly recommend you try one of their tahini shakes; you won't be disappointed! The outdoor seating was lovely as well, marred only by the heavy traffic & noisy cars, but the service was great and I'd definitely go again.

This is a quiet spot below the Lodge Room in HP. It has one thing on the menu, a $25 cheeseburger + fries. It’s a decent smash burger. Not anything special but it’s got a vintage diner interior and the host is friendly. The milkshake was a nice touch. They got new owners about a month ago.

This isn’t the burgerlords you know and love. They don’t have anything vegan anymore. The service was nice and so was the atmosphere but the food is not the same. A huge loss for the vegan community and non dairy peeps. Like c’mon change the name. The whole point of burgerlords was that it was vegan.

New owners from Wake and Late ruined this beloved spot. I had no idea about this change. Walked in to a totally bad vibe. The employees are probably tired of explaining what the hell happened so we got a guy that just mumbled. The place was deserted, the menu barely readable, no music, and the burger… just whatever. The only thing that tasted the same was the milkshake. There’s a too cool for school pretentious feeling to the space… and I am just heartbroken. RIP burgerlords 🥺

This used to be the best vegan burger in LA with great tahini milkshakes. It used to be $11.20 for a burger and fries. Now not even the fries are vegetarian. There's nothing vegan on the menu. And the burger and fries is $25! In Eater mag, they quoted the new owners as saying "We’ve always loved the Burgerlords brand. We loved a lot of the things that they were doing, but we always had ideas of where they could go and what we thought was missing in the market.” Was another meat burger really missing from the Los Angeles market?? What does the *brand* mean besides "cheap vegan burgers"?? What a disappointment. Should've bought a different restaurant and not run this one into the ground. Shame.
