Sushi Enya is one of the better sushi experiences I’ve had in Los Angeles, and it completely caught me off guard. At first glance, the space is very understated. It’s not flashy, not trendy, and not trying to impress you visually. If anything, it feels almost unassuming. But that’s exactly what makes the experience so good. The focus here is entirely on the fish and the craft. Everything we ordered was excellent, but the uni stood out immediately. It was sourced from Japan and prepared right in front of us, and you can see the care that goes into it. The texture was perfect, clean and silky, and it melted the second it hit your mouth. You can tell right away when uni is handled properly, and this was top tier. The video I posted shows the preparation, and it eats exactly how it looks. The sushi across the board was phenomenal, precise, and clearly handled by someone who knows what they’re doing. The head chef behind the counter was incredible. Skilled, confident, and clearly passionate about his craft. He walked us through what we were eating, made the experience fun, and genuinely added to the night. He even took shots with us, which somehow never took away from how serious he was about the food. It felt authentic, not performative. Pricing was very fair for the quality, especially considering the level of fish being served. It’s not the cheapest, but I don’t go out to eat cheap Sushi. Sushi Enya isn’t about scene or hype. It’s about execution, sourcing, and respect for the product. If you care about great sushi and not just appearances, this is absolutely a place worth going out of your way for.
Great staff, great sushi chefs. I walked in on a slow weekday and they sat me at the bar. Fish was very fresh, good value for the the portions.
I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for years! It’s always so busy with a line out the door. Amazing service, great food. Must eat at spot if in the area!
This was hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Sitting at the bar was a fantastic experience, allowing direct interaction with the chefs and a perfect view of the sushi-making process, complete with their insightful comments. We ordered as we went and tried multiple sushi options, including chef recommendations. The Crunchy Vegas roll was the standout—absolutely incredible. The staff was incredibly polite and welcoming, making the experience even more memorable. We loved it so much that we returned the very next day for more. While it’s a bit on the pricier side, it’s worth every penny. The location in Little Tokyo is also perfect. Highly recommended!
Authentic Japanese sushi at finest quality. This place serves sushi prepared at high-end style. Everything will feel perfectly enjoyable. Hence, they do use a bit of yuzu, but it makes the sushi a bit more unique and stylish. The roles are great, and prepared in the right size for a bite. It is size also the kids can enjoy easily. Hence, the price point is not in the lower end. But the quality justifies it.
Sushi Enya - omg. All expectations met. From the freshest fish, to the delicious sauce combinations, to the amazing staff. Our party came hungry and left beyond satisfied. Saturday, no reservation - we waited 15 mins before doors and were seated right away.
One of the best sushi places in LA! Super high quality, tasty with least amount of rice in the roll, so that you dont feel full after! Great Unagi, we ordered twice, as it was sooooo good?
Visited October 2019. Best sushi experience I've ever had. We waited to have bar seats (definitely recommended). We really enjoyed the interactions with the chefs and watching the art of the delicately put together intricate creations. The flavours were fresh and top quality. I will definitely be back.
The best sushi I’ve had in a while! Must try their truffle toro - absolutely worth it! All the rolls were great as well.
Always a treat to eat here. This isn't a fast food sushi place. Instead its a 45 min wait to be seated. Reservations are 2 and 3 months wait. Getting a table is a waiting game but you won't be disappointed. Sushi is fresh, no fishy smell inside. The rice is perfectly sweet and sticky, the 60 dollar plater is done with perfect... enjoy the pics because this food is worth the wait.. our chef also very kind and helpful on foods we didn't know what was being made as we sat at the sushi bar.
First time trying the omakase and was blown away! Completely worth the money and chef Jeff was amazing!! The ambiance is great for a date or an upgraded family function but smaller groups only. I will definitely return for the omakase experience!
I’m a regular here - absolutely one of my favorite meals in LA. The fish is supremely fresh, the prep is simple, methodical and super super consistent. Have had ~10 meals here, usually at the counter bar - and it’s a pleasure every time. The daily list of nigiri is worth hitting up always, and the evergreen options are thoughtful and delicious. Absolute recommend. Ends up being around 75-80$ as a solo diner for a mix of nigiri maybe 10-12 pieces. Not cheap, not crazy expensive. In my opinion, really worth it.
Sat at the sushi bar on a wednesday right when they opened. Got happy hour drinks and omakase (less expensive option). Fish was very fresh. Service was very fast. Receieved miso soup, ten nigiri, and a hand roll. They hooked up the otoro! Great experience.
This was the first time trying Sushi Enya. We got great service, the food came fast, and tasted as good as it looked. We ordered four special rolls and they were all delicious.
The food is so good! I ordered takoyaki bento, the size, price and combinations are just perfect. It’s close to the subway station, just at the entrance of plaza and easy to find. Arrived at 4:30pm and there’s no wait, but people start to queue up as I get out. For takoyaki you are seated at the takoyaki bar, there’s also a take out window. And if order other meals you will be seated at other tables.
The okonomiyaki uses noodles as base and then lots of cabbage. The variations come from the toppings. I tried the scallops with mentaiko and the pork. Add more sauce if you want stronger flavors. Then tried the crispy takoyaki (I liked it but it’s very hot so let it cool down to be able to enjoy the flavor) and their mentaiko one. If you’re looking for uniqueness, take the crispy one.
I love this place, I come once or twice a year and it's always delicious and worth the drive. They're always able to seat me relatively quickly and the servers are really efficient and helpful. More importantly, the food is delicious, very high quality and filling. They also have the best takoyaki I've had anywhere. Love this place.
craving for asian food but ain't wanna noodles rice etc. this place came as a pleasant surprise as it is something special! okonomiyaki is not commonly found as a restaurant itself in my home country. so we walked in without hesitation. the wait staff is kind to let us have our name manually written since we can't register via mobile. food was great! love it.
Okonomiyaki were pretty good. The ones with regular noodles were fine but a bit closer to wok style, so maybe next time I’d try the crispy option. Both the ones with onion and mayo as well as the ones with octopus were good. The place had a waiting line though, and it did not work well for non-US phone numbers
Stopped by around 630pm on a Friday was able to grab a table for 2 straight away. Tried the crispy style Okonomiyaki, was a nice change of texture. Would recommend stopping by if you're in the area. The takoyaki were freshly made and so tasty. The bucket of beer was also a refreshing way to end the week.
Other than the long wait, the food and service was awesome. We got an okonomiyaki which was delicious and a takoyaki which was a nice addition. A good amount of food for 2 that left us satisfied. The waiters and waitresses checked up constantly to make sure everything was good 👍. Overall, just a wonderful experience once you're seated.
Delicious okonomiyaki and takoyaki! The beef curry was also very good, although it didnt have any vegetables and very little meat in it. Went with family and they had japanese beer and sodas on the menu as well. Fast service even though the place was packed. An authentic experience if you are in Little Tokyo!
We love coming here when we want something umami and satisfying. They serve Hiroshima style okonomiyaki which has layers of noodles, cabbage, egg, and your protein of choice and comes slathered in kewpie mayo and a savory bbq sauce. Everything is placed on a heated griddle at your table so your food doesn’t get cold if you want to take your time with the food. Would recommend going with crispy noodles so you get a good texture in your order.
First time trying the food here and it was great! The dishes that do not have some type of sauce on them was a but bland for me but perfect for the kids. The takoyaki (squid balls) are probably the best I have ever tried. As for the stir fry, I tried the ground beef as well as the Hiroshima (flat fried squid). The waiter mentioned that their dishes were single servings but it could probably fill 2 people. I finished mine but I'm a Noodle hog. I have never faced a noodle dish that I couldn't finish and my wife couldn't finish hers. Great stuff! Will definitely come back and try their spicy flavors!
This place should have a rating of 5.0, I've had dinner at Chinchikurin about three times now. Despite how busy they are, the staff are attentive, kind, and welcoming. The team instantly recognized us after our third visit. Mind you, we are not from this country. The food is great, warm, delicious and so so so good after a long day. The atmosphere is perfect. We usually pick the patio, but the indoor seating is just as great. It's my favorite spot, and it will always be a place I visit whenever I fly into LA. Thank you to the staff working the dinner shift July 5-6. You have been amazing!!! I hope they continue to thrive and succeed. I wish nothing but the best for Chinchikurin. I'm not sure if I'll see the same staff next year, but I wish them the best and hope only good things come their way. Hands down, it's the best place to eat at, especially if you're in town for AX. -Joori, party for 2
This is the Little Tokyo outlet of Sushi Enya. The place is on the same street as the popular ramen place. We orders the 18 piece sashimi set twice and the chef was thoughtful enough to put different fish slices on the two orders. We also tried their specialty eel roll which is served on a very long dish since eels are long? Quality of the fish are quite high and attention to details are there. There are not many tables so it gets crowded. Usually there is a wait so suggest to arrive early (5PM) or use table reservations. They have a cancellation fee if you make table reservation. There is no parking on site so you have paid street parking or paid parking structure near by.
Came here for dinner in a group of 7 on a Friday night. We had to wait for an hour to get seated since we had a large group with no reservation. Indoor seating only. They have a omakase option but we all opted for a la carte. I had a chirashi bowl which was quite filling and had a lot of fish. I got green tea which came with free refills. Service was friendly and there are gendered restrooms in the back. Metered street parking. Credit cards accepted. It’s a classy spot to eat high quality fish.
Pretty cute lil spot! Came on a weekday around 6pm so it wasn’t too busy and conveniently during happy hour (which is 5:30-6:30)! I’m vegetarian and there were some pretty decent options. Loved the vegan green man and the Japanese potato fries were pretty good, but could use a dipping sauce like sriracha mayo or something. Shishito peppers were good as well!
Chinchikurin is located at the mouth of the Japanese Village Plaza Mall. Dropping in for a quick bite, I was soon seated at the bar with a menu that had too many temptations. Fighting against the Eyes Too Big for the Stomach monster, I placed my order with a very helpful server, who was attentive to my dislike of spring onions. The Chinchikurinyaki is apparently their chain's specialty, so I couldn't go past this. This Okonomiyaki is rather different from the classic, with ground beef and noodles. The cabbage and eggs pancake was more a covering and lightly crispy. The overall effect was well harmonised, savoury and umami with the special sauce and Japanese mayonnaise on top. Chinchikurin houses the complementary Takoyaki Tanota within its premises. At 3pm in the afternoon, there was still a steady stream of diners. Service was efficient and on point. I would go back to check out their other offerings.
We ordered the Hiroshima and the b&c okonomiyaki. I personally like the b&c more because of how flavorful it was, and crunchy noodles is definitely the way to go. The Hiroshima was a more mild flavor, and thankfully they provide a packet of okonomiyaki sauce and kewpie mayo for each table. My favorite dish of our order was the mentaiko takoyaki. I was not expecting it to be as crispy as it was since most fresh takoyaki places favor a softer exterior, but despite that, the inside was moist and soft. We were seated quickly despite it being a Saturday evening, and food and drink orders were ready in decent time. We just had a bit of difficulty getting someone's attention to pay. The atmosphere was what you'd expect for a casual sit-down, my only issue was how warm it was. It was an evening in August and I'm sure the heaters at every table contribute to the ambient heat, but it made me favor the iced tea and our dipping noodles to the okonomiyaki. Despite that, a lot of diners were having beer so it wasn't a huge issue. There's also 2 hr parking validation.
You can find better sushi place. Price is even more expensive than other better sushi restaurants. Sushi Enya doesn’t have variety of fish, it seems like its kain target customer base is not Asian. If you are willing to spend this money and experience better sushi, try Sushi Gen or Hama Sushi. Sushman and clerks are very kind and professional.
The fish is fresh and tastes delicious. The prices are crazy though for the rolls. Almost 30 dollars for one roll. I can get a better roll for cheaper. They are always awkwardly cut too. I come here all the time. I think I’ll just sticks with the crispy rice and albacore sushi pieces. At night they also spray this cleaning solution while cleaning and wrapping up. It’s so overpowering that it’s makes the dining experience terrible. If go ill go before 9.
I loved their staff! They were super helpful and patient when explaining the menu and how to customize my dish. I was super hyped on trying the food but when it finally arrived it wasn't up to expectations. The presentation was great and looked phenomenal, however once we tasted the food it didn't live up to its presentation. It was basically noodles on top of cabbage, I think the roi is great for their business just not something I would be excited to try again. The price is a little expensive for what my taste buds experienced, great food is always worth the money however this wasn't it. It did get me full, I normally devour my food and am first to finish my meal but this time I had my group waiting for me.
Fish quality is great really. But this is only worth it if you get nigiri or sashimi and even then I feel it’s a bit expensive for the area. Do not get any rolls because you will be skimped out on sushi. I ordered the rainbow roll and had tiny thin see through pieces, ik they won’t be as big as a sashimi piece but still this is insane because ik a few sushi places in la for slightly cheaper w bigger chunks on the rolls. Sushi enya is not worth it
