One of my favorite bars in LA. The cocktails are always delicious, balanced, and beautifully presented, and I love the atmosphere. Huge thank you to Mikey for the incredible hospitality; every drink he made was phenomenal. Can't wait to be back again soon!
loved the experience! kind of pre-game vibes while waiting for a table and inside it’s a totally different experience in both good ways. i loved the inside for more quieter space where you can talk to people/get to know someone - such a date spot. drinks were also different outside and inside so gets you variety. their buttermilk fried chicken was also very good and unique.
Death & Co LA is hands down one of my favorite bars in the city. The cocktails are always creative, balanced, and beautifully presented, the mixologists here really know how to combine flavors you won’t find elsewhere. On this visit I tried the Kissaten Café, Hail to the Thief, Sun Dream, Morning Dove, Garnet Moon, and Flying Nimbus. Every single one stood out in its own way, and the seasonal rotation keeps the menu exciting. I also love how they organize the drinks by categories like Bright & Confident or Boozy & Honest, it makes picking something to match your mood really easy. The food is underrated too. The fried chicken is extra crispy with a sweet-spicy glaze that makes it addictive, and the fries with aioli are a perfect bar snack. We capped the night with crème brûlée, which was excellent. The vibe is dark, intimate, and modern with a true speakeasy feel, just be ready to use your phone light to read the menu. It gets packed on weekends, so definitely book a reservation instead of waiting in line. Pro tip: go earlier in the evening if you want to snag free street parking, otherwise you’ll most likely need to valet. Yes, drinks are on the pricier side ($20–$30+), but the quality, creativity, and atmosphere make it absolutely worth it. If you love cocktails, Death & Co is a must.
This chic, dimly lit bar gives speakeasy vibes with a lengthy cocktail menu and amazing food. The lamb burger is the best I have ever had. Raven and Mike always provide fantastic service and drink recommendations. Reservations are strongly recommended.
Death and Co. LA is THE date night location! Partner and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary there recently and not only was the ambiance amazing but the food and drinks were up to par. We started our night with an order of the Esquite and let me tell you..this is a great take on a childhood culture classic. We were left wanting more. We wanted to thank Chef Selenia for an amazing take on the esquite. She is such master at her craft. We also enjoyed a nice delicious crab toast and to top things off we ended the night with a sweet potato Brulee. Throughout our night our Bartender Edwin took care of us by making us delicious drinks that not only tasted amazing but paired well with our food choices. He deliberately explained the thought process behind his pairings which made the experience even more special. Can’t recommend this place enough. Cheers!
One of the best bars in America. Slotting us in on a Friday early shift, the bars atmosphere is intimate, high end and accessible. Friendly staff walk more nervous customers through the phenomenally balanced menu in a way that helps without them feeling patronised. More experienced drinkers will find something for everyone, and a bar staff happy to experiment, challenge or rely on the classics. Tip hard - this is a modern marvel in mixology.
Amazing drinks. Dark and moody underground cocktail bar. Edwin was our bartender and he was excellent. He was very attentive, very knowledgeable and made his drinks were made well very quickly. We ordered a Yondu, Scarlet Eyes, Oaxaca Old Fashioned, and Vodka Dirty Martini. Would highly recommend! We did have a reservation.
This was one of the best experiences from start to finish and had everything you can think of in a bar. First off, I was running late and they messaged me and changed my reservation to accommodate me. The drinks and food? SPECTACULAR! Over 24 drinks to choose from and to celebrate my birthday, the Too Old to Die Young Drink was a MIKE TYSON PUNCH 👊🏼, Dessert: Cookies soaked in liquor was amazing and the staff were educated and polite with complementary birthday drinks. If you want an experience from the pros. Go here. They were awesome 😎
Amazing cocktails but the bartender was too busy talking to one person and not interested in any conversation with anyone else. She only acknowledged us when our drinks were empty but I had lots of questions about the cocktails and wanted to know more.
I came here on a Thursday night right before my birthday to celebrate. There was a wait to get in, not too crazy. If you are coming here Friday and Saturday, though, I would say make a reservation because those are the busiest days, and they take priority on reservations. As soon as we walked in , it was nice and calm. Low lights and calming atmosphere. We sat down, and our bartender greeted us as they sat us on the bar because we were walk- ins, no complaints there, it was just my boyfriend and I. We both ordered our first cocktail of the night and plates of shareable food. 1.beef tartare 2.house pickles 3.yellow fin crudo 4.buttermilk fried chicken 5. Roasted delicata squash A total of 2 cocktails and food to end my birthday celebration. The list was massive, with about 4 pages of cocktail selection. Starting with light and playful, bright and confident, elegant and timeless, and boozy and honest. They also have a wine list towards the end. Overall, it was a great experience.
Goggle is asking to rate the "food" To be honest , not a lot of people I know come for the food. We came in for a quick 1 hr stop in. It was a group of 4 of us. Very cool experience, dim, lighting. Definitely has a luxurious feel along with sexy or Dark blended into that. We each got 1 drink, no food, nothing else. So, 4 drinks total , enjoyed a conversation, and got out. Our bill was 99 dollars plus a 20% tip, so we spent 1 hr there at 30 dollars a drink each, basically. At 120 dollars for 4 boozy drinks, it is pretty expensive, however, worth it for the craft cocktails art and experience. I recommend checking it out at least one time. Service from the host and waiter was amazing. They had a good selection of music as well.
Amazing. The cocktails, servers, and the vibes… everything here was just so lovely. The bartenders carefully tend to each cocktail, creating a masterpiece every time. The cocktails are so unique and they are definitely worth the price because they aren’t watered down or filled to the rim with ice. Some of the drinks weren’t up my alley but each drink was carefully crafted. Overall, we had a lovely time and I’ll definitely be back!
Great experience and amazing atmosphere, even tho we stayed on the front bar. The service and drinks were also great. We ordered Green Chile Margarita, Espresso Martini and Old fashioned. For a snack we ordered the pretzel
This was my first time coming to this speakeasy in LA, and it was so cool. You first walk down some stairs to come to the front desk where they seat you. It was a slow night, so we got in without making reservations, but I highly suggest doing that to avoid having to wait long. The vibe is dark, moody, but chic. All of the cocktails were categorized on the menu so well and there were even pictures! It all looked so good, and the waitress gave us some great recommendations. So friendly. We got our drinks and just enjoyed the rest of our night. Would definitely come back
We had a fantastic time here—the vibe was outstanding, even while sitting at the front bar. The staff was attentive and welcoming, and every drink we tried was expertly made. The Green Chile Margarita had a great kick, the Espresso Martini was smooth and rich, and the Old Fashioned was perfectly balanced. We also shared a warm pretzel that hit the spot as a snack. Overall, it was a relaxed yet lively experience with great flavors all around.

Such an amazing experience Mike was our bartender and he was amazing . I love me a good cocktail bar and this was a nail on the coffin. Hospitality was top notch and the food and snacks were perfect. It was our first time here and would 100% go back. Thank you for the conversations and company! We were also a walk in at opening, it got packed within an hour
Death & co Los Angeles has such a great atmosphere, the dimly lit space and the way they craft their drinks is really an art form... the service was incredibly attentive without being intrusive, which I always appreciate. They really know their cocktails here, making it a consistently enjoyable experience!
This bar made #30 on the World's Best Bars for North America for 2023 so we definitely had to check it out. The entrance and ambiance is very chic with a touch a mystery, but welcoming vibes. We made reservations ahead of time and was worth it because there was a line when we got there. The drinks are expertly made and they also have a limited food menu too. The chicken and potatoes are very tasty and great for sharing for a snack. The menu has a cartoon drawing of the drinks and the staff is knowledgeable about liquor even beyond the menu. It got really busy so it took some time for service, but overall an outstanding bar! Glad for its recognition!!
Atmosphere 9/10 Cool basement-like atmosphere. Both tables and plenty of bar seating. The bar area is clearly in focus of the layout. Overall, nice interior design and nice backbar. Drinks 7/10 Recommendation: Eleventh Hour Very big cocktail menu with “mood & flavor” categorized drinks. The presentation and garnish are very simple. Eleventh Hour tasted good - basically a custom old fashioned. Rigadoon was too simple and too sour to enjoy in this environment. Service 6.5/10 The fact that you can’t reserve in advance and they have a huge waitlist of >1hr wait (at almost any time around peak hours), creates a poor experience for a traveling visitor. The team is nice, and water is served on arrival. The prices are above average for LA. #30 Best Bars in North America 2023 according to @50bestbars Besides the silly concept of a “wait list only” bar, the drinks are a bit too simple to be in the Best 50 ranking for North America.
Dim and intimate setting hidden behind layers of curtains. I ordered “too old to die young” under the “Elegant and Timeless” category but it was much stronger than I thought, and I wouldn’t recommend it to people who don’t want the kick. My friend got Green Room and Lady of Hearts which were lighter but I didn’t think the flavor was that striking. The chips and dip was good. Overall, OK drinks, good place for some late night chats.

Great vibe and cocktails. Good food, too! There's just a really brutal funky odor that hits you like a brick wall and tends to linger for a bit. Pretty pricey cocktails, too. It's worth checking out but ehh I dunno. It's kinda overpriced and the smell makes it really rough.
From NYC to LA - and still iconic. Speakeasy vibe, dimly lit, and stylish. There was a short wait but worth it. I had a specialty mezcal cocktail that was strong and spirit-forward (just how I like it 😏) and grabbed their house popcorn which was a fun little snack (super simple and not flavorful but a good portion size)! Perfect spot for cocktail lovers who want something elevated but chill. 🥃
Such a bummer of a time at Death & Co tonight. Been here a few times and generally a great time. Heard they had decorated for Christmas but it was just a small room pop-up that was a separate reservation. I'll take some of the blame with the reservation mix-up but how hard is it to put up some streamers and string lights in the main area. An hour and $50 and it'd make the main area something other than a damn cave. The holiday cocktails were nothing to right home about and their cocktail list wasn't their best. Also, it took 20 minutes to get a server to our table and the main room wasn't full and 2 hours for 2 drinks. Feels like they didn't have enough people on the schedule as the guy was constantly moving and dealing with stuff so I'm not putting the blame on him.

I visited Death & Co (Los Angeles) expecting a top-tier cocktail experience and it was honestly one of the worst bar experiences I’ve had in LA. Drinks were poorly made and noticeably low quality. Service was terrible from start to finish — no water poured, drinks took forever, and they even forgot the olives we ordered. I had specifically requested a corner table in advance, and despite the reservation, they never had it ready or acknowledged the request. Overall, disorganized and disappointing. With so many great bars in LA, this one is nowhere near worth the hype.
