The Garden Terrace Cafe offers a convenient spot with a beautiful view at the Getty Center. However, many customers complain about high prices and mediocre food quality, especially the sandwiches. Some enjoyed the Rosemary Roasted Chicken Salad and Cheese Board.

The Rosemary Roasted Chicken Salad in Wheat Roll and the Cheese Board were delicious! People need to stop complaining as you are getting an amazing view and free entry! The staff were very friendly too!
We had a soup, a dinner roll and a classic salad entree at total 24.64$ and it was enough for 2. This is not a bargain but also no ripoff. The restaurant cares for healthy food which tastes good and the environment is much better than in chain restaurant.

Great service and delicious peanut butter sandwich. The prices are ok. The view is beautiful. It isn't 5 stars because cafe au lait is very watered and tasteless.
The Garden Terrace Cafe is a lovely spot to enjoy a snack while overlooking the Getty Center's gardens and city views. This cafe offers a variety of food options, including salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes, and pizzas. There is also a selection of pastries, cakes, and coffee drinks. The service at the Garden Terrace Cafe is excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they are happy to make recommendations. The food is also excellent. The portions are generous, and the dishes are well-prepared. Prices at the Garden Terrace Cafe are reasonable, considering the location and the quality of the food. Overall, the Garden Terrace Cafe is a great option for a meal or snack at the Getty Center. Great place to lay on the grassy hill!

A bit pricey and the taste was lack luster. Got a muffaletta and it was nothing resembling a muffaletta, just a roast beef sandwich. Portion sizes were good so you're not going hungry if you eat here. The convenience factor of maximizing time by staying on site and not having to pay parking twice if we left for lunch made it a reasonable choice to eat.
Simple food, clean environment, helpful staff, at a high price. The gluten free items are a plain salad, fruit, potato chips, and ice cream bars.

The hours on the door say they close at 4pm, but the doors were locked at 3:15pm so just be aware that they close earlier than their posted time! Very disappointing.
An oasis of mediocrity in an otherwise amazing museum, I've never understood why the food at the getty sucks while literally every other aspect of the getty is grest, but there you go. Consider packing a picnic instead of trying to find something worth eating here
Clean, fast, lots of options, but the food wasn't very good at all. The Getty center is a great museum, but I'd advise either eating before going there or maybe trying the full-service Restaurant there. I assume it is better but have not tried it yet.
Prices are a bit wild, even for it being a tourist destination. $3 for a tiny bag of chips? $16 for a tiny sandwich? Save your money, bring your own snacks ahead of time, or eat well beforehand.

You kidding me? For a sandwich that costs 11 dollars, they decide to rip me off with the ham? Holy bejeezus these guys are complete scam artists.

Waste of $40 stay away from the sandwiches, garbage. Foul is the only way to describe the food. I want a refund.
I have raved about the wide range of food choices at The Getty Terrace to my friends for a while, and as a thank you to them fir some help, I took them to a day at the Getty and lunch at the Cafe. We arrived 2.5 hrs before they were to close. They had 5 hot food menus lighted up with chicken dishes, Mexican Food, Pizzas, Salads and cheeseburgers. We waited in line close to 25 minutes with anticipation of ordering the listed Taco plate and Carne asada burrito plate. When I got to the front of the line and ordered, the man taking the order said that they were only serving hamburgers and hotdogs as the hot food the rest of the day. The men cooking the burgers were wearing plastic gloves, but the man that was preparing the buns with the lettuce, the onions and the cheese was handling them with his bare hands. My thank you to my incredible friends, ended up being cold ham sandwiches and pre-packaged salads, with the dressings being a dollar extra each, none included with the meal, and with drinks the total was over $100. That will be the last time I ever go to the Getty Museum, and my friends as well, were appalled at the food, the prices and the service.
you want a cheap cafeteria with four star prices? J. Paul Getty Museum Garden Terrace Cafe in LA. The driest hot dog and a slice of the driest carrot cake you'll ever eat will set you back $22. Lunch for two people is $45+
The 8 dollar bit dog was a small tasteless hotdog in a bun with no condiments.
Couldn't finish our meal. 11-13$ for disgusting sandwiches and wraps. This restaurant is a scam. Bring your own sandwiches !
The food sold in this cafe is more expensive than Disneyland which is unacceptable. Definitely not recommended. Bring your own snacks and drinks. The Getty Center itself is excellent but the food sold here is bad. Are those dry and tasteless sandwich made of gold? This place is a complete ripoff.
The Getty Center is an amazing place to visit. This cafe however, is one of the worst place ever. The prices are exorbitant to start with (over $4 for a bottle of water). Selection of food is terrible. If you're a student on a budget, this is pretty much the cheapest place there (unless you count coffee, which isn't cheap) so you won't be able to afford it (go eat afterwards). For such an amazing museum, they did an absolute horrible job when it comes to affordable food. Their $10 sandwiches are, how shall I say, are dry...very dry. As for flavor, there is none. I ended up putting in several packets of mayo and mustard because I wouldn't have finished it otherwise. The pot roast dish (can't remember the exact name of the dish) was somewhat edible but it was close to $20 for a tiny portion. Had it not been for my family and relatives being there, I would have just gotten pizza afterwards. You can guess how expensive it was for a light lunch meal for six people. Next time, I'm making sure we get lunch before we go there and you should probably do the same.
Can you please have some better food:( Only terrible, expensive cold sandwiches and bland soups, salads and such. All very expensive and taste terrible. If you are gonna charge premium prices, then you should serve premium food. If you are gonna sell disgusting cold sandwiches, you should charge a very low price. Getty is such a beautiful place to visit, yet their food is really disappointing and embarrassing
