First let me start off by saying I am about the pickiest, grumpiest curmudgeon there is. I think most food is ghastly and overpriced as well as most restaurants should not be in business. With that being said….this is about, if not the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Crunchy and moist. A fresh roll. Pickles were awesome. Banana pudding, almost like eating a cup of banana cheesecake, not overly sweet and the vanilla wafers gave it a nice crunch. Had the JoJos as well. Crispy and good. Nice seasoning. One order is definitely enough for two people. Very pleasantly surprised!!! I ate the food too fast so the picture is of the counter display! LMAO
This place deserves THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH in LA. What I love about this place is that it’s not your typical Nashville hot fried chicken joint. Their sandwich is unmatched. I considered this to be on the same level as an In-N-Out burger in which their chicken sandwich just fits perfectly together. Down to the bun, with the super juicy, crispy chicken breast, fresh butter lettuce, the smoked paprika aioli, and don’t forget their perfectly homemade hot sauce. I prefer their sandwich over the tenders, and that’s saying a lot. This is a must at GCM.
Great flavor and crispness on the chicken. Unique flavor that will make me think of this place if I tasted it again. Good option in this market. $22 for a 5piece bucket is a bit higher than fast food spots but this tastes elevated and worth it. The cornbread is thick and tasty. After a few bites the saltiness was much for me. I don’t eat cheese but I had to taste it. I’d come back and recommend. Reheated it in the air fryer and it was indeed delicious with just a little spice like I like it.
YUM! some of the best damn chicken in town. Love the ambience of Grand Central market. Lucky Bird is a unique gem amongst the multiple pizza and Asian food stalls in the hall. Staff is nice. counter is always clean. Chef personally served us our beer. The chicken is juicy with crunchy skin. coleslaw is very tasty too. And the potatoes are crisp and delicious and salty. Careful though, they’re very thermal when they come out of the kitchen and will burn your tongue! Pricing is a bit high for a couple pieces of chicken, but it’s comparable to the other food stalls in the hall and sometimes you just gotta spend a little more to get a little more. Will be back again soon. Thanks!
I am so picky when it comes to fried chicken and I have to say that this is the best I’ve had! Their chicken strips are served hot and fresh, not fatty, perfect amount of coating, not oily or greasy and has so much flavor. I highly recommend their paprika aioli and their salsa verde dipping sauce. Also, the young lady at the cash registry was so sweet and kind. She offered us cold water since it was hot while we were waiting for our food. Amazing food, service and atmosphere!
Lucky Bird has a small menu and they don't make much, but what they do make they take a ton of pride in. Their chicken tenders are massive with a savory, crispy outside and a flakey inside. Their mac & cheese is better than your mom makes, and their version of Frank's Red Hot rivals the original.
A very tasty chicken sandwich! Service was friendly and efficient.
The fried chicken was well seasoned and it had a nice crispy breading, not crunchy, that was really delicious. The potatoes were well seasoned too and everything tasted fresh.
With all the competition going around with fried chicken sandwiches, this one is top 3 in my book. I thought the spicy chicken sandwich had the right amount of spice and texture. Not so hot that you cannot enjoy the flavor. The potato wedges are "true" wedges if you will that cuts a potato into 4 pieces and is deep fried. Fantastic!
The hot honey chicken sandwich was the best chicken sandwich I have EVER had.
My chicken sammie was fabulous 🤩. The sauce and chicken combo was an explosion of flavor. The handsome young man working provided top tier service with a great attitude. If the options are over whelming in Grand Central Market know that Lucky Bird is a great option. :)
This is the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life, and is right for those looking for a juicy, substantial piece of chicken in a well-sauced bun. It was perfectly cooked, tender, tasty, and lightly fried, with tasty mayo and a toasted bun. Dark meat only in both the sandwich and the popcorn chicken! Butter lettuce was a great crispy counterpoint to the chicken. Also, the service was unobtrusive and excellent. I was sharing my chicken sandwich with someone and they served it cut in half for us without asking, and provided a share plate. The guest next to us, who was eating his alone, didn't have his sandwich cut in half. The napkins and utensils are self-serve atop the counter, and when he placed the food down, the waiter noticed we didn't have some within easy reach and gave us some more.
Chicken sandwich was so good I had it four times while I was in LA! Everything is made in-house and it has amazing flavour. Fried chicken is very crunchy!
I brought the family here last sunday for some good fried chicken and this place did not disappoint. I saw photos on Instagram and I had to try it. The food was amazing, the workers were sooo nice, they gave us a free lemonade and stickers!! So far this has been one of best places for fried chicken. I ordered a 5 piece and it fed 2 adults and 2 kids. I also ordered a beer that was really hit the spot, light and refreshing. The cherry on top were the fresh and hot biscuits, a bit weird looking but soo good. I highly recommend this place if you are in the Grand Central market.

Best fried chicken I've had in my life! Got a bucket to share with the family and was seriously impressed. So flavorful and juicy. Cooked to perfection and not too greasy. Nice experience sitting at the bar counter of you can get a seat.

The spicy chicken sandwich was very good, it had more of a hard crust than usual fried chicken crunchy texture. But it was still a very juicy and tasty sandwich. Definitely was worth buying the habanero honey and paprika aioli to go with it.
New Year’s Eve this place was still open around 8pm and so glad I picked this spot for a quick dinner. I ordered the three piece tenders, waffles and a Diet Coke. The chicken quality is really good, cooked to perfection. Tender and juicy with the good amount of seasoning(overall a good tender). I recommend using their dipping sauces to accompany it, I got the ranch and habanero honey. Now the waffles were probably my favorite part and with the syrup it was solid! I highly recommend trying their waffles even over their chicken. I’d definitely come back again and try more their menu items. Parking is limited but there is plenty la seating inside.
I enjoyed Lucky Bird overall. It's inside a bustling grand Central market in downtown LA. If you're walking in the area ther are a variety of places to eat. At a time where supply chains have been strained by current conditions, Lucky Bird was out of a few items that I wanted (wings, fries, etc). The cashier was kind enough to let me use some of the wing flavors on my order of regular chicken. I had a chicken sandwich, a breast and a thigh that was sweet n spicy. Mac n cheese was my side. The chicken sandwich was amazing. All of the chicken sandwiches were tasty too. I give them 4 stars because the guy handling the food was also playing in his phone and eating while preparing orders. Not my favorite thing to observe
A Paradox on a Bun The Hot Honey Sammie will change your life…It is simple in execution but complex in taste. The slice of American cheese is a honest dancing partner with the tangy relish sauce. The simple cheese slice and complex mayo/dill/relish keeps the senses building as the juicy, sweet heat, always fresh and hot breaded chicken bursts to the front and hits your taste buds like the star it is. When we are within an hour of GCM, we dine on Lucky Bird every time.
The chicken was stupidly juicy. It is rare that you get a giant leg, breast, and thigh that are all cooked to perfection like this. Each piece is topped with a bit of salt and lemon zest, which sounds a little weird, but brings an awesome hint of flavor to the chicken that has to be tried. The only thing missing is a hint of spice to the batter. And while they give you hot sauce, I much prefer having a little seasoning mixed in. The service was great and the food came out quickly and was piping hot. I can't really find fault with anything, but the lack of seasoning in the batter means that it is missing that extra something.

Meh. I used to love the chicken sandwiches and JoJo's at Lucky Bird, but today, my sandwich was soggy, the chicken was tough, the JoJos were bland and unseasoned, and the sauce was bland and oily. It's not what I remember, and I won't be back.
The thyme lemonade tastes store bought like the "Simply Lemonade" brand. Mac salad had too much mayonnaise. Chicken was good though.
