I ALWAYS stop here when I am in the area on business. This is a classic little burger spot. Service is always great. Everyone I've encountered here is friendly and professional. The combo burger is what I prefer. It comes with a split and fried hotdog on top. The chili is excellent and the tater tots come done just right. If you are craving a burger and are anywhere near here, please stop and try them out. Let's all keep this place in business! Lots of seating put back, along with parking by the way!
This was definitely an awesome burger spot!! the workers were so kind and funny. they treated us like family and the food was delicious and pretty affordable! right when we said what we wanted he slapped a fresh burger patty on the grill! that’s how you know it’s going to be fresh. tomatoes were fresh, lettuce was good and the curly fries were crispy! 10/10 would come again if we came back.
Every time I am this side of town, this is the go-to place for breakfast and lunch. The hotdogs are off the chain. However, you want it, you got it. I knew Marty, the owner, who was not their but it looks, tastes, and feels like the place is in good hands. Congratulations for being here for many, many years.
Decided to try Marty’s after being disappointed with Apple Pan twice. Marty’s cheeseburgers are delicious and so are the curly fries. Great price and the person taking our order offered us cold water without us asking.
Always passed by after work and had heard some great things about it. Ended stopping by yesterday to get a bite. Double cheeseburger combo with half and half onion rings and curly fries. Employees were super friendly and nice to chat with, saying I could get whatever I want. Total topped off to $11. The burger itself was great. Nice and simple, but balanced, especially with the ketchup spread and the lettuce. Might not be the best burger I’ve had, but I might rank it top 5 or 3 in LA since it works so well. And there are too many great burgers in town, some of which I have yet to try. Not to mention a place that also sells curly fries and breaded onion rings, some of my favorite sides. Onion rings could’ve been a little better breaded for one or two but overall they were awesome. With the affordable, quality tasting food at an iconic stand serving OG LA burgers, on top of the A+ customer service and no long wait, this could be my new favorite burger joint.
Great smash chile burger. Onion rings with fries smothered in chili.
I love burgers and this place definitely delivers a flavorful and delicious burger. The chili cheese fries are heavenly, great flavor. The staff is super friendly they made me feel like a regular on my first visit. Definitely check it out.

Delicious, classic burger stand! Double burger with Pastrami was a meaty monster. The burger was awesome and reminded me of cookouts at my Grandma's, and the onion rings were so crispy!

Was recommended by a friend to try their Combo Burger with chili and cheese. With Fresh ingredients and great flavor, this is a 100% worth the visit.
I get why they're a beloved neighborhood hamburger stand - which is truly a dying breed these days. Menu is just innovative enough in the old school way - add a hot dog or pastrami to your burger, along with just a bit of counter seating, all outdoor, for vibes.
Been going there since 1975, same owner! One of the last old OG burger stands in LA.
Our favorite breakfast burritos in town! Don’t sleep on the BBs with pastrami. Delicious and fresh food with friendly service. We are there almost weekly and never disappointed

Good food. The pastrami was a little dry, but the flavor was good. The breakfast burrito was okay, but my partner said it didn't taste like a breakfast burrito 😅 (I guess based on others he has had). There is a cozy outdoor sitting area which was very clean. Also, they accept credit cards which was great! Overall a good experience.
Good chilli. Thicker chilli on the likes of "Tommy's", which is what I prefer. Great taste, ingredients taste fresh. Everything is made to order. Will definitely return.
This isn’t a mind blowing burger but the experience more than makes up for it. Simply ordering your meal is a vibe in itself. Your order is taken by the same guy who’s working the griddle so they second you list off your order, you get to watch that same guy make it right in front of you; that’s pretty cool and fills the stand with a classic LA feel. Since this is a neighborhood joint, you know the service is fast, friendly, and focused on delivering quality food, made to order, at an unbeatable price. To top off the incredible experience of getting the food, they only take cash. While this might seem annoying, it just adds to the timeless nature of the restaurant. I got The Combo and while the patty kind of tasted like blue cheese, in a bad way, when taken all together, it’s maybe the perfect bite every time. The flavors from the beef burger, the delectable Vienna sausage, paired with the natural MSG of the tomato, the intensity of the white onion and that store-bought sesame seed bun, all mesh to make for a bite that is uniquely Marty’s. The chichi cheese fries are solid. The chili itself is a copy of Original Tommy’s (cause if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em) so it’s great just nothing special. The fries hold up surprisingly well for being shoestring and have a good puff to them. Marty’s Hamburger Stand is an institution and a California classic for a reason that deserves more recognition.
First timer. Highly suggest goin' with a double as the burger patty was rather slim and unfilling if you're going with just a burger. It wasn't the tastiest meat in comparison to the competitors nearby. The bun was warmed but didn't catch my fancy, probably won't return for the burger. The chili cheese fries however hit the spot. Very yummy and didn't leave a crumb for the trash bin. They do have a wonderful open seated balcony with plenty of shade Be sure to bring cash as it's cash only!
Coming from the OC was in LA for the day. Felt like a good burger at an old school joint. Found Marty's on line and decided to drive a few miles to try it out. Like another famous hamburger stand which servers burgers out of a shack Marty's did not disappoint. Got the Combo chili/cheese and onion rings. Got the order pretty quick and sat in the back on the benches provided. Street parking was rather open being on a Sunday, but since there is a fire station next door, there was minimal nearby parking spots. The staff was very friendly and appreciated the business which was refreshing. Definitely a place to try out.
Only because its local do i give it 4 stars. The double hamburger with bacon topped with onions is something i could cook at home. The chili cheese dog wasnt exceptional either. The main reason one might go is the small business feel of ordering at a stand and eating in the small closed off eating area in the back. Also Cash only.
Small, old school type hamburger stand. Walk up service only and no in dining eating. This burger joint is situated between the fire department and a gas station. Parking is super scarce, I was about to park at the gas station next door but a spot opened up right in front of the spot, which is the only spot. Friendly staff, good food and a straight forward menu, burgers, dogs, sandwiches, fries and drinks. I ordered a cheeseburger, which comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and ketchup. They also offer a variety of sides French, curly fries, onion rings, tater tots along with chili/cheese fries. Based on the menu, it says beef and turkey burgers are made fresh daily, never frozen, all beef hot dogs, fresh sliced deli meats and white meat tuna. Sodas, Orange Bang, lemonade, horchata and bottle water. You can also add on chili, cheese, bacon and pastrami.

The combo hamburger hot dog sandwich is ok, but the chili fries were divine. I don’t think I’ll ever have fries like that again. The hot dog overpowers the beef patty, so I wish it was a double patty burger. The may strangely works with the salty hot dog. The sandwich was not my favorite. The chili fries were a different story. I wish I had known I would have the best fries of my life today so I could’ve finished that first. The crisp was perfectly uniform for every fry, and it was flaky on the inside. The chili was ok, but I would’ve had a meal with only fries if I had known. Parking is street only I think, and lucky the machines were ripped out today. There’s a small lot in the back, but I feel it’s for employees. Outdoor dining only, and there were some flies interested in eating for free. Accepts credit cards
Casual place, friendly staff. Better burgers and fries than any chain burger eatery. Kitsch and enjoyable back patio.

This hamburger stand has been here all my life. They offer the classic L.A. style chili burger. This is a difficult burger to perfect; and others offer it also (Tommy's, Carney's - I review these also, here). The attraction is the intense transition of flavor from the salt of the pickles and mustard, to the pepperiness of the chili, to the savoriness of the meat. The chili is a condiment type of thing and not a chili that one would ever eat out of a bowl. The burger requires a big slice of tomato to have optimal moisture to chew and swallow each bite. Marty's is likely the best when it comes to the sheer quality of the ingredients, but the salt balance and lack of big tomato slices holds it back from being the best overall.
Marty's is a local hamburger joint on Pico Blvd. I drive by it on my way to work every day but have not made an effort to stop. Had a little extra time today to taste what they offer. The chili cheese burger was ok. The bread needs to be grilled, the patty was small but the cheese and chili were tasty. I ordered 50/50 Fries and Onion rings. The onion rings were tasty, but you get only two. The fries were string fries and lacked any flavor. Total for both was $12.25. I won't be returning, better choices for chili burgers elsewhere.

I dont know why its called ORIGINAL - there is 0 originality to it - I got a cheeseburger. The patty was barely warm, buns had that nasty flour flavor and were barely toasted. The guy who made a burger didn't wash his hands and didn't use gloves. He just threw one ingredient on top of another and boom its ready. They accept only cash and the parking situation is not the best. The road "ambience" XD. You are sitting basically next to the busy street and absorb all the sounds and road "aroma". I ended up throwing half of my burger into the trash can. Not recommended
