I think this is the best chicken I’ve ever had. We had the bone in and chicken tenders, plus Mac salad, spicy rice, biscuit and fries. Everything was so good, and everyone was so nice. We had two people come around and ask us how we liked the food, and all the patrons were really kind too. We will 100% be back, it’s going in our regular rotation of comfort restaurants to go to.
Ordered online . The Fish is awesome. I can only tell I wish the size of the side sauces you pay for was bigger and they also offered meals (like fish) in 6 pieces. Other than that it was amazing fried fish I enjoyed way more than fried chicken
On January 30 2026 The best Pioneer fried chicken in Southern California 😋
My whole experience was awsome. Great customer service, clean and comfy atmosphere. The food....omg! Was delicious. I love it!!!
Went there on the way home from work even though it's out of the way. Got the family meal with white and dark meat. Very delicious. Yum. The herbs and spices are one of a kind. The biscuits were good and big.
I recently visited Pioneer Fried Chicken, and the taste of the chicken and sides instantly sent me through a time machine back to my childhood. Growing up, going to Pioneer Fried Chicken was always a family treat, and it holds some of my fondest and happiest memories. Trying it again as an adult only confirmed what I’ve always known to be true: the chicken is hands down delectably delicious. The flavor, the crunch, and the sides are just as amazing as I remember. In my opinion, it easily beats KFC, Jollibee, and Church’s Chicken. If you haven’t been here yet, run—don’t walk—and try it out for yourself. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why classic fried chicken spots are so special. I only wish there were more locations around Los Angeles. Until then, I’ll keep coming back to this one for as long as it stays open. 🍗✨
Growing up in the 60's and 70's Pioneer Chicken was the only place we'd go. Went to Nevada for a while but I'm home now, just south. I'm planning a visit up there and I can barely wait to have the best Fried Chicken I've ever tasted! Thank you for staying open!
First off, this place is historical and the food is just as amazing as it was in the 1970's and 1980's! But I want to compliment and celebrate an amazing employee at this location - Mike E!! Mike made us feel right at home, he greeted us graciously and really took the time to make us feel special. He has a great personality and should be commended. As long as Mike is there, I will be returning over and over. Thank you Mike and thank you Pioneer for hiring him!
Excellent customer service, food was handed pretty fast for the size of my order. This was the first time in 20 years that I have stepped into Pioneer Chicken. The food still taste so good, especially the way I remember it as a kid coming with my parents. I can't wait to come back again. There is lots of parking in this spot too.
Went in for an 8 piece Family meal this trip and regret not getting the fried gizzards too. The biscuits were fluffy and coleslaw tasty and crunchy. Their parking slots were full & it was nice to see customers dining in including the younger generation. Glad to see Pioneer going strong in the area.
Every visit is better than the last! The last truly authentic Pioneer chicken today. The place takes you back in time with its frozen in 1980s menu and dining room. The employees are kind and humble. The food is oh so good 👍 the chicken strips are giant and the bone in chicken is unmatched accept to maybe Roscoes chicken n waffles. Don't sleep on the corn sweet and cooked to perfection 👌 Parking is limited but well planned, so don't give up, find, or wait for a spot as most take the orders to go. Do yourself a favor and support this legendary Los Angeles Gem 💎
Nostalgia at its finest! Pioneer chicken is like one of those places that was just a part of your childhood. I have been wanting to come to this location since I saw a post on IG, it was maybe a year or 2. I honestly thought there was no more in existence. My career took me to Los Angeles and it so happens this spot was on my way home 😉. Of course I had to try it and see if it was like I remember. Side note, I could t quite put my finger on the flavor, texture and look of the chicken but once I received my order, it was like going back in time. I ordered the 2 piece dinner, which comes with 2 pieces of chicken, a side of your choice, a biscuit and a drink. The chicken was a hot and juicy with a golden crispy orange, some say this is the original orange chicken lol. The mashed potatoes had chicken gravy, which went well with the meal. I wasn't too pleased about the biscuit, it was dry, bland in flavor. I have visited here several times since my first and ordered the 2 piece basket instead of the dinner. It is just 2 pieces and a side. All in all I will be back and will hope they open locations close to my area (Inland Empire). The parking is a shared space and is limited but I have had ease in parking the different times I went. Restrooms are available on the outside of the building. There is handicap parking and access. Vegetarians/ Vegans probably no options for you here but your welcome to join us 😜. Stop here usually when I work west of the location on my way home from work, as I did today, 08/01/2025
Perfect stop after a midday Dodger Game! Chicken was tasty not dry, the beans were really good and the biscuit was yummy. Really enjoyed my nostalgic meal. Out of the two locations this one is my preference. Really appreciated the cashier coming to check on everyone dining in, great customer service.
Pioneer Chicken in LA feels like a relic from another era, still riding on nostalgia rather than delivering a standout meal today. I ordered the 3-piece tender meal, and while the chicken was cooked correctly, it had zero flavor. The batter had a texture and taste more reminiscent of fried fish than classic fried chicken—crispy but lacking any real seasoning or depth. The fries were passable, nothing special, and the biscuit was dry, missing the buttery, fluffy quality that makes a biscuit worth eating. Adding to the disappointment, no dipping sauces were included—even for a tender meal—so I had to pay extra for basic condiments like ketchup or BBQ sauce. The restaurant itself maintains a vintage fast-food aesthetic, and while credit cards are accepted, the overall experience didn’t justify a return visit. It feels like a place that hasn’t evolved much from its heyday decades ago, but not in a good way. If you’re here purely for nostalgia, it might be worth a stop, but if you’re after great fried chicken, there are better options in LA.
Top 2 Best fried chicken in LA! Loved it! I got the 2 piece meal! So delicious and affordable! What a deal! If you are a fried chicken fan you gotta hit up This spot! It has a 1950s feel to it. Really cool! The BBQ Beans were killer! Def check this spot out! You have customer for life now! Thank you!
Best fried chicken I have ever had in my life!! So juicy! So succulent!! Their chicken tenders are unbelievable too. All their sides are fire and biscuits are insane!! Ernesto is running this place top notch. Super friendly staff. Definitely check out this Los Angeles legendary institution for your fried chicken fix.

Good but not great. Honestly, ain't come back. Great to try it out. Good chicken, it should I say batter. The biscuits are the best thing there. But tag, for the expensive price, I'd go somewhere else
This is a good spot for your basic fried chicken and biscuits. I ordered chicken tenders. The tenders were battered. I loved them! I gave 4 stars instead 5 because the food was salty. The coleslaw is tasty for those who like coleslaw. It would have been nice if honey mustard was an option for dipping sauce.

I happened to be in the area and decided to stop by Pioneer Chicken since it had been a while. Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed. It seems like yet another place that has cut corners while raising prices. The chicken was noticeably smaller, and they tried to make up for it by adding more batter—nice try, but you’re not fooling anyone, Pioneer. The biscuit, which used to be the highlight, was once a soft, fluffy cross between a biscuit and cornbread. Now? It’s dry and dense, the kind that sticks to the roof of your mouth in the worst way. Hey owner, I understand everything goes up. I don’t mind paying, but don’t compromise the food. I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon—maybe ever. Thankfully, I don’t crave fried chicken that often.
I came out of town and was looking forward in having the best chicken but I was refused service because they did not want to take my cash.

No chicken ... what? No wonder you guys are going out of business. Stop being lazy. An order is an order ..not my problem you guys decided to clean up early.
Food absurdity trash and had no flavor. Just straight up expensive grease. The drink was extra at $2.50.
