Expect friendly service, great prices and value here. The fish is very fresh! My favorite dish is the scallop hand roll which had the consistency of a chocolate truffle, and the salmon sashimi. My table was given a complimentary orange which was cut up and skewered beautifully. I discussed my dietary limitations with the chef who made some great recommendations. There's a cute table in front where my dog was given a nice bowl of water. Very pet friendly! The uncrowded free parking lot and outdoor tables would be convenient for my friends with wheelchairs. My delicious dinner was far from ugly, but it did taste even better than it looked. Perhaps this place is named after a philosophy which I agree with, it's what's inside that counts. I love this place and I can't wait to try more dishes here. Five stars!

Great place for casual sushi and a beer. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is so nice. I messed up my order confirmation so we had to wait 10min but they were super quick in getting our order done and were very helpful to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a bunch of different sushi and tempura and it was all great. Looking forward to trying their other menu items next time!

Great price, great service, great sushi! We were in the mood for a baked salmon roll, which wasn't on the menu, but he accommodated us and made a delicious baked roll. Quick for both dine-in and takeout. Limited seating for dine-in, but ample parking!

Really authentic flavor prepared by a actual Japanese chef. Being served a meal prepared by genuine Tokyo hands is a real pleasure and to be included among the few is a unique opportunity to learn about the Japanese culture. Treat yourself kindly & judge for yourself.

I’ve been there from day, one that Sushi grade tuna from a sushi chef, Owner/entrepreneur that gets the best fish. Only prices are insane. The foods insane, I just seriously missing out if you don’t go there maybe it’s a hole in the wall to you, but it’s a high quality expensive Sushi grade food Hand cut from a chef price was is a joke. I will be raising the prices just from this review. The food is delicious. Everything is delicious. You can’t go wrong from every role, even these people that cook stuff they have everything is fresh. Made to order is delicious. I eat there three times a week at least

Love, love, love Ugly Roll sushi. Beautiful delicious large slices of fish, wonderfully prepared. Everything was absolutely delicious. This is my number one pick for sushi granted it’s a small place but I had to give it five for atmosphere because the food is so good. The service is so wonderful that nothing else matters. I actually came to pick up my food and they greet you with a cup of green tea an incredible hospitality that has become rare in Los Angeles. Thank you Ugly Roll sushi for being amazing!

great place and been coming here for over 10 years- really nice service and attention to detail...they brought us little towels which cooled me down before eating:> and orange slices presented nicely which we liked having before the meal is over. so that's unique and awesome. great food! good prices and happy hour is even better!

Was recommended this place by a friend who lived in LA a decade ago. Great hole-in-the-wall spot with quality for the price on the combos. Only minor thing was that the rice was a bit stiff

I love ugly sushi because its FRESH MADE. they deliver fresh made, also you can dine in if you're smart enough to read the sign in the front door that says please use back door. If you are worthy, you too can dine in and watch others as they attempt to open a locked door.

Amazing fresh fish ... The food is amazing the chef /owner is so talented and kind ... Me and my japanese husband go there often for late night dates... we are never disappointed. We get cold sake with a salmon skin salad, an omakase sushi plate and a few rolls.. all delicious The chef is not stingy about his omakase and served us expensive fish like toro and hokkaido scallop . Highly yey reccomend as a person who works at a sushi restaurant myself .

Walked in on a Tuesday night after a nearby basketball game when I'm on a desperate diet to lower my cholesterol - this restaurant is an absolute hidden gem. Wasn't expecting 10 pieces of freshly made high quality Nigiri sushi to only cost just over $20...and the chef was quick. (Pic was after I added 2x extra yellowtail) Didn't charge me for green tea too. I can see myself coming back to this place probably every week from now on. Truly affordable yet high quality & authentic sushi!!!

My daughter says this place is run by the best restaurant owner ever. I loved it too (the place and the kind service). Yummy sushi at really good prices. Fast, fresh, and delicious omakase. Fire pit with a nice size screen. What's not to love? Highly recommended.

No other good quality sushi restaurant in LA can get you a dinner for 2, drinks included for $30. Also the taste and texture was the best I’ve had so far. Very creamy and/or crunchy! Saki bombs weren’t on the menu but they were nice enough to add a saki shot to our beers for free! Lots of parking near by

I want to make this review very simple. I knew this place a year ago and loved traditional cuisine. If you love traditional sushi, I recommend this place. It is one of my favorite places in Culver City.

I want to make this review very simple. I knew this place a year ago and loved traditional cuisine. If you love traditional sushi, I recommend this place. It is one of my favorite places in Culver City.

The best part is the chef/owner Kagaya - does not skimp on anything. Top quality - as good as any high priced sushi spot. Even fresh grated wasabi - not the cheap paste served elsewhere. Count on a half peeled fresh orange to refresh the taste buds.

Opened in 2008, now 17yrs going strong withstanding the test of time/inflation and for good reason. Exceptionally well made sushi, fresh flavorful fish, prices that are still the most affordable you'll find anywhere, and always a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. When Ugly Roll first opened, I was eating here at least weekly. I moved away from the area for almost 15yrs only to return last night and the owner still remembered me! Nice touch with the addition of the fancy XL screen touch ordering display.

Picked up. Very fast. Good quality given speed and price. Accepted credit cards. Tipped on card. Limited menu. Yes, still minimum purchase value at time of writing of this review (either $15 or $19). Got all food in photos for approximately $40. Options ordering online and in person differed. Enjoyed the meal.

The quality of the sushi here is mediocre. Not grocery store bad, but just not superb quality. The restaurant is usually gloomy, but I have been going here for a long time and the prices are good. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick bite. UPDATE: This place just underwent a huge makeover. The restaurant now allows you to order from computer and the food comes faster. The quality of the sushi is a bit better but still not good quality.

Cool spot with outside dining and innovative menus and interactive games. I watched the Lakers game and ate some decent sushi. The menu was little basic but overall good.

I’m honestly confused on the top reviews here. Maybe I went on an off night, but I wasn’t impressed. They only have about 10 sushi roll options. Most are basic rolls (tuna roll, salmon roll, California rolls) and are still $11-13 per roll (where most places do the $6-9 range). The avocado wasn’t ripe and the rice wasn’t soft (and also didn’t have any flavor). This was very much below average and was overpriced. I was expecting much better. Only benefit is that parking is good here. They do have a combo meal that seems like a decent value, but again, the sushi isn’t great. A la carte is much cheaper and better elsewhere.

Advertised as closed at 1:15pm on Saturday but I called and they told me 9pm?

We come to the Ugly Roll right now. Google Map says that it opens. We here and it's closed. We are so disappointed. Thank you guys to ruin our date.

Terrible service. They wouldn't let me place an order. I attempted to go in at 12:30pm on a Thursday. I wanted to place an order. I was told not to enter and wasn't allowed to order. I went to the ramen place across the street. Hinodeya accepted my business no problem. Go there!
