We had an excellent experience at this inn in the Mondovì district of Cuneo. The restaurant is very simple and furnished with wooden tables and comfortable chairs. It has two spacious rooms with various paintings depicting Aesop's fable, which gives the restaurant its name. The wine list is good, and the dishes are delicious and traditional, served at the table with platters, leaving diners to plate and create a convivial atmosphere. The extensive and high-quality cheese selection, supplied by Occelli, deserves special mention.

Oh my, this place is spectacular. I ate the tastiest and most delicious dish of my entire life: "L'ola al forno." A dish that seems so simple in itself (meat and vegetables), but they cook it for a long time at a low temperature, and it becomes incredibly delicious. I've been back and everything is delicious: the dishes, the cheese, the wine, even the appetizer. Highly recommended!!

The inn is located on a street in the old town that's easy to find, although a bit off the pedestrian street. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the owner puts guests at ease with friendly, informal service. You can choose from the menu or choose from a couple of tasting menus, in addition to the set menu on weekdays. We opted for the one consisting of an appetizer, first course, and dessert. The quality of the dishes we ate was truly excellent, but I must mention the tongue with salsa verde and the tagliolini with artichokes and shrimp. The price was fair, and the owner kindly waived the water and cover charge. A truly pleasant experience.

Monday evening, August 12th, around eighty euros for an excellent evening with a fully-loaded tasting menu featuring fennel. Divine Fassona tartar, out-of-this-world lamb chops, delicious stuffed fish, sparkling wine with a complimentary half-bottle, a salami upon arrival as a welcome (a truly precious and unexpected treat), and veal with tuna sauce donated just for a taste because we were visitors and had to try it. What more can I say? I've attached the photos, and the reviews speak for themselves. Excellent place, recommended for anyone passing through Cuneo. Free parking nearby near the Gesso River. The historic center is a 5-minute walk away. They also accept dogs, so ❣️🐾 Thank you for this lovely dinner.

Restaurant serving typical Piedmontese dishes. We took advantage of the tasting menu and were able to enjoy many dishes at a truly advantageous price. Generous portions, quick and friendly service! Absolutely worth a try if you are in the area!!

Everything is definitely 5 stars except the service, which deserves even more. The hostess is exceptionally kind. I will remember the truffle tajerin for a long time. The aroma and flavor leave no doubt about the quality of the truffle. The zabaglione cream was a journey... It's definitely my new go-to in Cuneo for future trips.

A restaurant tucked away among the historic streets of Cuneo. The atmosphere is very welcoming and they have a beautiful patio that is truly fabulous when the weather is nice. The ladies who run the place are very friendly and there's a feeling of considerable friendship in the air. We were the only couple who couldn't call each other by name because it was our first time there. Everyone else knew each other, so that's a sign of a place you'll want to return to again and again. The food was delicious, to say the least. We started with a mix of house appetizers that were truly mouth-watering. For the first course, casatielli with wild boar ragù. If we were to find a flaw, perhaps the pasta was a little overcooked, but that's a subjective thing...still very good. For dessert, I had zabaglione...I would have ordered two more of that...fantastic. The price was right for what we ate...and we certainly didn't leave hungry. I forgot...two generous glasses of wine accompanied the meal...we'll definitely be back...

We were on vacation in Cuneo the weekend of April 26-27, and the Cuneo hotel where we were staying recommended the La Volpe con la pancia piena restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant, both for the quality of the food, the flavor of the dishes, and the kindness and quality of the service. The desserts are excellent, and it's worth trying them all! The owner was truly kind and even had a thoughtful thought for all of us...I would definitely go back!

Staying at a B&B across the street, I dined here for convenience, and it was a great choice. A true trattoria, with trattoria-style dishes! Everything was delicious, and the service was quick despite the restaurant being packed. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely return if I'm in the area again.

Un po' di difficoltà a trovare posteggio. Propietaria gentilissima e professionale. Abbiamo mangiato benissimo, una delizia per il palato. Veramente inaspettato e positivamente colpiti. Lo consiglio vivamente.

Locale pulito e accogliente a mio parere forse un po' da rinnovare.. personale simpatico e Gentile. Ottimi piatti, anche ben presentati!! Vasta scelta di vini.

Excellent restaurant, very good food, and super friendly staff. I ordered the dish of the day: tagliolini with truffle (delicious, if a little pricey), and for my main course, fried egg with truffle and a rabbit roll. The egg was very good, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the rabbit. Otherwise, everything was perfect, and the service was fast and efficient. The price was a little above average, but still acceptable.

The atmosphere is basic but original, and good for large tables with space to put plates. There's a good selection of Piedmontese red wines (though the average prices are slightly high). The price of wine by the glass is excellent considering the quantity (BRAVO!). A starter with salami is offered. The main courses are well-presented but basic, and the portions are too small (the restaurant mainly serves typical Piedmontese cuisine, dishes from the Piedmont region). The desserts are average (quality OK, but some have average flavor and, again, the portions are too small). The restrooms are superb (newspapers and perfumes are available for customers). It's fine for a basic regional meal in the city of Cuneo. The lunchtime set menu seems very interesting (I haven't tried it) with a good price for the weekday working menu.

You can't say it's bad, but it's certainly not very good either... for the kids, it's soda or nothing... The langoustine tartare was tasteless, very watery (defrosted??), and had little citrus flavor... The traditional lasagna was disappointing... much overcooked, or rather, probably recooked several times... a bit of a letdown considering the restaurant's bill.
