Ayer estuvimos comiendo torreznos, patatas revolcones y tomando unos vinos y todo estaba espectacular. También queremos destacar el servicio de Ray, el camarero. Muy atento, cercano y excelente profesional. Repetiremos seguro, porque es un lugar muy recomendable.

Los Galayos es un restaurante castizo en pleno centro de Madrid, situado en la emblemática Plaza Mayor. Un lugar con historia, varios premios y reconocimientos, muy acogedor y con distintos ambientes. Nosotros comimos en la planta baja, en una sala de unas diez mesas aproximadamente, donde el ambiente resulta íntimo y muy agradable. El servicio fue impecable en todo momento, pero quiero destacar especialmente a una camarera excepcional que nos ayudó a elegir la carta con gran acierto. Nada más sentarte, te ofrecen un pequeño pica-pica (2,50 € por persona) que realmente merece la pena: aceitunas, queso, chorizo y pan, todo de muy buena calidad. En cuanto a los platos, pedí sopa castellana y, sinceramente, es una de las mejores que he probado en mi vida: sabrosa, reconfortante y perfectamente equilibrada. Como plato principal tomamos cochinillo; siguiendo la recomendación de la camarera, elegimos la pierna, y fue un auténtico acierto: carne increíblemente tierna, jugosa y llena de sabor, simplemente brutal. De postre, la tarta de queso fue excepcional. Se nota que todo lo que sirven es de primerísima calidad, con producto excelente y una cocina muy cuidada. El precio, teniendo en cuenta el nivel del restaurante, la ubicación y la calidad, es más que recomendable. Como detalle final, y por cortesía de la casa, nos ofrecieron un licor de melocotón riquísimo que cerró la experiencia de forma perfecta. En definitiva, si visitas Madrid, este restaurante es una parada imprescindible.

De este lugar puedo destacar dos cosas; su excelente servicio y comida, hacen que tengas una experiencia tranquila y acogedora, con un fondo musical instrumental que ayuda a mantener esa atmósfera antes descrita. Recomiendo muchísimo la sopa de mariscos, ha sido la mejor que he probado. Al final, te dan una botellita de digestivo muy generosa y de gran sabor, realizado por ellos mismos. Una variedad de postres únicos, deliciosos raciones generosas y a buen precio.

Tuve una experiencia increíble. Jose Miguel nos dio el mejor servicio — súper atento, amable y siempre pendiente de cada detalle. Hizo que la noche fuera especial. Fue una experiencia maravillosa: la comida, la atencion, el bello edificio, y su digestivo de melocotón es una joya. Se suma a todo que aquí estuvieron grandes personalidades de las letras de la generación del 27. Duele pensar en el hermoso ser humano que fue Garcia Lorca, departiendo con sus amistades a pocos meses de su inhumano fusilamiento.

Fuimos a comer cocido ! Vimos las reseñas y nos animamos. Al principio dudamos por si era un sitio de guiris al encontrarse al lado de la plaza mayor…pero tras leer que en este restaurante fue la última reunion de la generación del 27 y que se reunían en el, nos animamos! Visitar Los Galayos es sumergirse en la tradición madrileña, y su Cocido Madrileño no decepciona. Comienzo con el primer vuelco, la sopa, que es una auténtica maravilla. ​El caldo es delicioso, concentrado y con un sabor profundo a puchero, pero servido en su punto justo, ligeramente desgrasado para que no resulte pesado. La densidad de los fideos era perfecta. Es el entrante ideal que te transporta de inmediato a la cocina casera de antes. ​En general, la comida es auténtica y exquisita. This is a wonderful place just outside of Plaza Mayor. If you are lucky enough to get a table outside, you'll be able to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of the area along with the perfectly crafted food and drinks. Cuando hemos entrado ha preguntar si tenían sitio nos han tratado un poco borde porque no sabíamos la diferencia entre sentarnos fuera o dentro (una para tapas y otro para carta). Nos han dado mesa en el interior y donde estábamos sentados, caían trozos de techo (no muy grandes, entre medio centímetro y un centímetro, pero si que se veían perfectamente), imagino que será porque andaban en el piso de encima y al vibrar caían partes del ladrillo... se lo hemos dicho al camarero y literalmente me ha contestado: "Si, lo sabemos", no se ha disculpado ni nada... Esto, puede ser un problema si te cae en el plato... En cuanto a la comida estaba bien, rica para ser un sitio al lado de la plaza que lo hacen todo para los turistas, en este caso se veía que no era destinado a los turistas y que sabían cocinar. Los camareros y el servicio (exceptuando el que nos atendió en la entrada) muy bien, correctos y simpáticos. El precio han sido unos 40€ cabeza (éramos 4) siendo un domingo y comiendo dos entrantes, 4 platos principales, 2 postres y un par de bebidas cada uno mas café. "Bastante bien" para ser un sitio al lado de la plaza mayor. Si que es verdad que si hubiera sido más me hubiera parecido caro, pero me ha parecido correcto para lo que hemos comido.

Vinimos atraídos por su bocadillo Paquito de cordero y quedamos muy sorprendidos para bien. Los Galayos es un sitio con mucha historia por el que han pasado personalidades tan ilustres como la Generación del 27. Tienen varios espacios, el restaurante con entrada por la calle Botoneras, el bar con apenas 2 mesas y entrada por la propia Plaza Mayor y su terraza. El personal fue muy amable y nos sirvieron rápido. Pedimos: - Media ración de ensaladilla rusa. Estaba rica, con patata, zanahoria, atún y mayonesa. Viene emplatada en forma de círculo con una lámina de pan crujiente para acompañar. - Bacalao rebozado con alioli de cebollino. El bacalao es fresco en vez de desalado, así que el sabor es más suave. El rebozado está bien ejecutado y la salsa de cebollino le aporta un toque original. La porción de bacalao es generosa y daría para compartir entre dos (pidiendo más cosas). - Bocadillo Paquito de cordero. El bocadillo viene en un pan con forma de rombo. Más grande de lo que me esperaba, aunque cuando se parte en 4 tuvimos que repartir bien el relleno porque en conjunto hay más pan que en relleno. El cordero está guisado y queda muy jugoso. Está muy rico de sabor. Lo acompañan con mostaza estilo americana y pepinillos agridulces. Me resultó curioso porque estos ingredientes recuerdan a las hamburguesas. El toque del achiote no lo notamos. El conjunto está rico, aunque cambiaría el pan por uno más ligero. La verdad que los precios y el tamaño de las raciones están muy bien. El picoteo salió a 6€ por persona. ¡Recomendable!

Un cocido buenísimo, los callos buenísimos y un buen ambiente. Muy bien atendidos. No se puede pedir mása. Y la ubicación... La plaza Mayor de Madrid.

Histórico y sólido restaurante. Se ubica al lado de la Plaza Mayor, pero en absoluto es una trampa para turistas. Posee una larguísima trayectoria (abre a finales del siglo XIX), ha sido testigo de la Historia de España y posee una cocina buena y seria. El local dispone de salas privadas y salones varios en sus tres alturas. Todos los espacio tienen su encanto. Organicé un evento para veinte comensales y resultó un éxito. Un servicio veterano y precios no disparados redondean la oferta. Recomendable.

The food was really good, we got the Croquetas, Alcachofas and the Paella. We specially recommend the paella, it was really good and although they state in the menu that it is for 2 persons, if you are thinking of getting other dishes as well, this is good enough even for 3-4! The service in our case was fine, though it could have improved a bit, and the atmosphere is good.

We ended up here because we couldn't get a reservation at Botin. However, the food was really great and we got to try the suckling pig and oxtail stew without the craziness of Botin. It is close to the square but it wasn't touristy. There is a large upstairs with a ton of tables. We had a pleasant dinner that didn't feel rush.

Los Galayos, located right on Plaza Mayor, is a classic spot for typical Spanish food. This was my second visit after a couple of years, but honestly, I remembered it being better than it felt this time. Still, it’s a traditional place with history and atmosphere, though perhaps more for the experience than for an unforgettable meal.

Service was good, although a bit busy at times. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but overall it’s a solid choice if you want to enjoy classic Spanish food in the heart of Madrid.

Enjoyable experience but feels an awful lot like a spot frequented by tour groups like the one we are with. This place is pretty big with lots of floors and big areas to eat. Our group of about 40 people were seated in a separate room near the top. Service was reasonable, our waiter was very friendly and the food was very good. It seems on par with food we’ve eaten at smaller places and we did get to try several different tapas. If you’re going as a large group it seems to work well. What I don’t know is the price versus the portions versus the quality better or worse than the surrounding area. I left full and happy.

Restaurant by plaza mayor which is the most touristic place in Madrid so the prices are not great but not a tourist trap. Huge seating area with many floors at the restaurant as you can see from the video. We booked a group dinner and you have to pre-pay the booking with a high minimum order (watch-out) The portions are at a decent size but I would not recommend the cheese platter as appetizer as they were not good. However, the remaining dishes were nice.

The restaurant is in a busy Plaza Mayor area. We were seated immediately even during busy hours. Downstairs is tapas and upstairs is restaurant just like other Madrid places. The food it’s just ok. The price on the menu is misleading. They show the price per person, but they only sell a minimum of two people, even if you are alone. So the real price is the menu price multiplied by two. It’s a tourist trap. If you’re alone, don’t go there.

This was supposed to be a classic Spanish paella… but what we got was a sad tourist-trap version. The rice was overcooked, dry, and flavorless — more like leftover rice reheated in a pan. Service didn’t help either — rushed, uninterested, and barely attentive once we sat down. For a restaurant in such a famous location, I expected authenticity and care, not a reheated plate of disappointment. If you actually want good Spanish food, walk a few streets away from Plaza Mayor — you’ll eat ten times better for half the price
