Tuvimos que esperar un poco antes de comer, así que empezamos tomando algo en la barra, donde el trato fue estupendo. Los camareros muy rápidos, atentos y amables en todo momento. La comida, de muy buena calidad y bien preparada. Pedimos unas navajas que estaban deliciosas, tomate con ventresca espectacular, entrecot de choto muy sabroso y, de postre, un arroz con leche casero de 10. Nos gustó mucho y sin duda volveremos. Recomendado totalmente.

El salón es pequeñito y un poco apretado, pero el servicio por parte de los camareros es fantástico muy amables y pendientes de que no falte nada, la comida está buenísima, la paella nos gustó mucho, el rodaballo estaba buenísimo y el arroz con leche también. De precio no es barato pero salimos comidos para todo el día, sin duda volveremos, recomiendo reservar ya que al ser pequeño se llena fácil.

Si te gusta comer bien, este sitio es totalmente recomendable. La comida está riquísima y se nota que usan productos de calidad. Cuando pides unas cervezas, las tapas que ponen están muy bien, así que aunque la cerveza no sea la más barata, merece la pena porque lo que acompaña está muy rico. El menú es algo más caro que en otros sitios, pero sinceramente, la comida lo compensa. Mientras los precios no suban demasiado, seguiré pensando que vale la pena. Los camareros son muy amables y el ambiente es agradable, así que si buscas un sitio donde disfrutar de buena comida y buen trato, no dudes en ir a El Roble.

One of our favorite neighborhood restos, frequented by many fabulous local seniors who seem to all know each other. That’s how you know it’s good. Go early by Spanish standards at 1pm so you can get a table or else it gets full. The waitstaff have obviously worked there forever and we even have a favorite who speaks Spanish, English and French. But the rest speak mostly Spanish so it is a big help that my husband speaks Spanish. We usually go during lunch time because the Menu del Dia is only 20 euros per person for bread, 1 drink, 2 plates & dessert. The servings are generous. I’ll be placing the name of each item we ordered in the photos, but the stand outs were: - Gambas al ajillo - This is a must everytime we go here. It’s a separate starter but the best in our opinion, even better than the one featured in the Madrid episode of Somebody Feed Phil. Comes super hot, and you need to move it around to evenly cook it. Be sure to dip into the oil & pile on the garlic bits! - Lentejas con Chorizo - my husband enjoyed this - Patatas Revolconas - hearty and yummy for chorizo lovers - Filete de Ternera a la Plancha - my steak loving son was happy - Salmon a la Plancha - for me the best thing on the menu during the day we went. Perfectly cooked and super fresh! Even the salad was yummy. - Tarta de Zanahoria con Helado - moist carrot cake with ice cream YUM - Tarta helada contessa - my son’s loved this chocolate and vanilla ice cream cake - Fresas con Nata - sweet strawberries with delicious whipped cream. Definitely not from a can. - We paired desserts with a cortado (Spanish espresso basically). The perfect end to a generous meal. As a plus, the paintings in the restaurant are absolutely beautiful. I’m not much of a fan of still life but the ones they have and the landscape paintings are so vivid and stunning.

Our family came here twice during our vacation. We really enjoyed the warm hospitality (the staff is primarily Spanish speaking - the menu is limited in English descriptions) and the delicious food. We speak a little bit of Spanish which helped tremendously. The quality of all the fresh fish, steaks, jamón, and salads were fantastic and well worth the price! Portions are generous for sharing between us 5. It does get quite busy at dinnertime so it is worth making a reservation. The complimentary tapas at the beginning changes each day. It is a wonderful place and we hope to visit again :)

We were staying in the area and decided to try it out based on the great reviews. The place definitely had a very comfortable local feel and the staff was very friendly. We didn't speak Spanish and they didn't have an English menu but our waitress did her best to help us and got us everything we wanted. We were given some croquettes and sausage as an amuse bouche which was delicious. We ordered the garlic shrimp, a grilled pork sandwich, the braised ox tail and grilled lamb chops and all our food were fantastic. I had the ox tail and the meat was just ready to fall off the bone and coated in a rich thick sauce and I really enjoyed it. We finished the meal with some shots to celebrate as it was near the end of our trip and we couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up our vacation.

Walked past here when trying to get into a pretentious restaurant around the corner, and frankly I’m glad they didn’t have space. I walked back to Restaurante El Roble and was immediately seated and treated like I belonged there. You’ll feel like you’re eating at family member’s home. Delicious and amazing perfectly cooked traditional food. I’m not sure how many tourists come here but it must have been obvious I had no idea what to order or what my waiter was saying (despite knowing some Spanish!) - but he was so kind and patient! So glad this was where I had my last meal in Madrid before heading home. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Spain! Muchas gracias!

Love this place. Chipirones a la plancha and setas con gambas are the best. Also the desert rice pudding is very rich and special. Good portions. It was a bit hot sitting in the terrace at night, the street that night didn’t have any breeze and they didn’t have any cooling system.

8/10/23 Domingo 14h Comida para 4 en el Roble La zona de Madrid entre Atocha y Legazpi fue la primera en la q mi marido se asentó cdo llegó a la capital con 18 años . Allí vivió hasta casi los 30 y le tiene mucho cariño . Debajo de su casa había una casa de comidas q se llamaba el Pérez con un menú del día por 500 pesetas ( 3 euros) del q era habitual. El se mudó de barrio y el Pérez pasó a llamarse el Roble y se trasladó unas calles más allá. Pero a él le sigue gustando volver de vez en cdo y muchos días, si viene solo a Madrid ,se acerca a comer aquí. En mi caso no es la 1ra vez q venía pero si hacía años . El local es un tanto pequeño y agobiante y sobrecargado de mesas. El look exacto de una casa de comidas de final del XX Hoy Domingo no había menú así q hemos pedido a la carta . La carta clásica y tradicional , lo q esperas . Hemos pedido : Los clásicos de mi marido ; ensaladilla rusa y escalope con patatas . Además setas con gambas al ajillo , zamburriñas y huevos con jamón. Paella de pincho Todo está rico pero nada destacable la verdad . De todo me quedo con las zamburriñas aq las he comido mejores . Raciones generosas . Hasta de más , por ej las croquetas son 8 , y grandes , deberían tener media o por unidad Los huevos vienen 4 . Para 2 ya no puedes pedir nada más . Precio 27e pp . Aq solo hemos tomado 1 postre y 3 cafés me parece muy adecuado dado el tamaño de las raciones. 3 bebidas Servicio bueno , todo va súper rápido y eso q el restaurante y la terraza estaba llenos Una vez más me demuestra q se puede sin excusas. Buen sitio para tomar algo o comer. Los aperitivos son abundantes. Hay que destacar la atención de Jose el camarero que es el alma del bar. Aunque la calidad es buena los precios son algo elevados para la zona.

La decoración y el ambiente espectacular , fui de paso … porque me llamó la atención la decoración. Paré a tomar un vino , le pregunté que habían la carta y quedaba poco porque ya pasara la hora de comer me pedí callos y una croqueta de cecina Fue bastante incómodo, comerla que ese cuenco se lo dije al camarero y me dijo que normalmente se coge la mano y se toma de un bocado, pero no todo el mundo le apetecerá comerla de un bocado y ahí es bastante incómodo partirla. La Atención por parte de los camareros, fue bastante seca no me sentí muy cómoda Los callos no estaban muy buenos la croqueta sí, pero eso para gustos y local precioso

I would have left a better review, but the smaller male server (Mr Feliz/Happy) was the most unhelpful, unfriendly rudest pig I have had to deal with in Spain (Not the larger gentleman who eventually took over the serving, and he was very actually very decent and helpful) Food was good, decent portions. Salmon marinado Marinated salmon thinly sliced was very good. Pulpo la plancha Octopus was also good with a nice texture. Setas Shitake ajilo congampas Mushroom with prawns. Very rich dish, which consisted of approx 6 x tiny prawns. No jokes, prawns were less than 1 cm in length. Tastey. The outdoor terrace atmosphere was fair. Better to dine inside, but thrilled we did not as (waiter, Mr Feliz/Happy) remained inside when we were served our meals.
