What a little gem this Taberna is, we discovered it thanks to the Spain Food Sherpas Málaga tapas tour. It is one of a few the authentic eateries of Málaga run by the brotherhood. Food is so delicious, tastes like home made, very generous portions. The interior of the taberna is so unique: the walls are covered in religious artefacts related to the Holy Week processions this brotherhood takes part in every year. Very reasonably priced, too! Highly recommend.

Fantastic little restaurant in the heart of Málaga old town. We went just after opening at midday on Sunday and it's a good thing we did as a queue very quickly built up outside with all the tables taken. The food was fantastic but, be warned, the 'Media' plates all come with chips and the portions are huge. The waitress warned us we had ordered too much so we removed one of the dishes but there was still a LOT! The decorations and posters give the place a fantastic, authentic atmosphere and our whole visit was a delight.

Taberna Cofrade Las Merchanas on Calle Mosquera is a true Málaga treasure! The food is fantastic—authentic, flavorful, and served in generous portions that really capture the essence of traditional Spanish cuisine. Every dish feels homemade and full of heart. The staff are just as wonderful as the food: welcoming, attentive, and always ready with a smile. They make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is full of charm and character, adding to the whole experience. If you’re in Málaga and want delicious food paired with outstanding service, Las Merchanas is a must-visit.

Finally a good place in Malaga for good simple food! They don’t try to over play there hand, they just serve homestyle food and the portions are quite large! Nice vibey place and the staff are great and efficient. Ordered the Russian Salad, Tripe Stew and the Malaga Chicken. I’d recommend any of those 3

We had to wait some time as we were not successful with the communication, however in the end they arranged a table inside for us. The food was absolutely fantastic, I could not believe how everything tasted so good; the calamari, shrimps and olives with some nice white wine. Strongly recommend this place.

We arrived at about 8:45 pm and there were 2 other people eating. In the space of 15 minutes the place filled up ! The waiter and waitress were amazing ! We had gone to their other restaurant first but it was full and we did not feel the love so we moved on to here and it was fine.

We passed by this place a few times and wondered about the long queues in front of it. Finally, we decided to join the queue and see/taste for ourselves. Fast professional service, good food and good wine. The food was not particularly sophisticated, but generous portions and had a homely feel to it. Try for yourself. :)

Inked Escapees

We saw a surly tattood waiter stood outside down a side street and thought it looked good so decided to try it. Food was outstanding. Tasty tapas, Generous delicious glasses of red wine. The next day we went to a bar but they were shutting so the waitress took us to their other bar.....which was this same one so we thought why not. Tried some dishes I'd seen someone eating the night before. Again all delicious. We try not to do the same place twice. We are glad we did....and would again.

Good little tapas place. Food are fresh made and portion are good with fair price. Highlight was the slow cooked ox tail, not sure if European are able to accept this kinda food but worth to try, better than ox cheek from my side, very tender juicy with rich flavor. Ambiente inmejorable, encima ha vuelto la música en directo al local y había un ambiente de lo más andaluz, el servicio genial y la comida 100% casera y buenísima. Sin duda para repetir e ir cada vez que pises Malaga, espectacular su montadito de pringá con su caldito de puchero y la ensaladilla rusa, pero sobre todo su atún en manteca traído desde Cádiz, 10/10 ❤️

Nombre bien puesto, porque entras a comer y sales con la sensación de haber estado en casa… pero sin fregar los platos. El ambiente es muy agradable, con música en directo que acompaña sin molestar (milagro), creando ese punto perfecto entre cena tranquila y “me quedo un rato más”. La comida está comible sin ser una locura y los precios son algo elevados pero claro estas en pleno centro de Málaga y muchas veces toca mamar. El servicio es encantador, cercanos y atentos, mención especial para la camarera morena que nos atendió, simpática, profesional y con una paciencia digna de premio. De esas personas que hacen que la experiencia suba de nivel sin pedir suplemento.

La ensaladilla rusa muy rica, la mini burger también, las patatas bravas para mi gusto le faltaba un poquito más en la freidora pero comestibles. Gran lugar. Ubicado en pleno centro, ofrece un variada carta con opciones muy típicas españolas pero también con hamburguesas. Atención buena. Buen ambiente aunque el bullicio se concentra en el lugar y a pesar de no haber más de 30 personas en el sitio toca hablar muy alto para poder conversar. La comida riquísima y de buen precio.

Stopped off here for tapas having seen it noted as a top tapas place. Left a little disappointed. Staff reccomended some dishes (a sweet pork one which was ace) but filled to tell us some came with potatos etc meaning we massively over ordered carb wise. Food itself was tasty but nothing crazy. Not unusual but prawns not de-veined. Relatively good value but cheaper places around for sure.

Una buena opción para comer en pleno centro de Málaga a buen precio. La ensaladilla rusa muy correcta, las patatas bravas bastante buenas, las croquetas quizás más prescindibles (las de calamar en su tinta con ali oli las mejores) las otras quizás un tanto insípidas. La hamburguesa buena pero más hecha de la cuenta para mi gusto (no nos preguntaron el punto). El taco de atún rojo y los baos muy buenos. Quizás lo que menos me ha gustado ha sido ver a la camarera fumando a 1 metro nuestra en mitad del servicio, pero si el restaurante se lo permite a los trabajadores... Ahí no entro, hablo de mi percepción lógicamente. En general buena comida, buena ubicación y buenos precios.

El servicio fue excelente — la camarera fue muy amable, atenta y servicial. La comida estuvo bien, nada especialmente destacable pero buena. La ensalada era bastante pequeña para el precio. Pedimos una pinta de cerveza, pero llegó mal servida: el vaso no estaba lleno y casi la mitad era espuma. El precio de la cerveza está bien, pero la comida me pareció cara para lo que es.

We came here on a Sunday evening. They have a nice terrace outside and an indoor space. The staff was friendly, we spoke Spanish with them. We paid 55 euros for a huge amount of tapas for 3 people (we ordered more than needed). We got the croquetas, ensalada russa,gambas, calamares tortilla and patatas 2 salsas. Nothing was extraordinary in terms of food but it was good for the price it was. The croquetas and patatas were nice. We ordered sangria and white wine. The sangria was really not great, so when in doubt, order the wine. What counted was the atmosphere. This tapas bar is central and the staff was super friendly.

Fuimos a tomar algo unos amigos, algunos pidieron copas, lo que realmente nos sorprendió fue que cuando el camarero volvió para servirnos, las copas venían con el alcohol ya servido desde el interior del local, sin poder apreciar si realmente te están sirviendo lo que has pedido. Lo normal en los sitios decentes y de calidad es que el camarero venga con la botella de la marca X y te sirvan en tu presencia. Critica a mejorar.

La comida bien, pero la organización bastante pésima. Reservamos con más de un mes de antelación para cenar en nochevieja y en ningun momento nos avisaron que la mesa era fuera. Mesa en exterior en diciembre, sin estufa y en taburetes. Además de varias intolerancias (avisadas con antelación) que tampoco fueron respetadas. Entendemos que es un dia complicado, pero con los precios y suplementos de nochevieja fué una servicio decepcionante.

Tenía mis dudas por las reseñas, pero ahora ya tengo pruebas. El personal es excelente pero la comida es de lo más básica que he comido a precio de alta calidad. - Las croquetas, 8 croquetas congeladas con alioli por 13€. - Huevos con Jamón y Foie. Media racion con 4 pedazos de jamón y un trocito de Foie, eso sí con patatas caseras buenísimas, por 13€. - Bao de Rabo de Toro, muy bueno. 6€ - Serranito, de pan cocido y dos tiras de ternera 7€. - Campero, otra pulga de pan cocido por 6€. Enhorabuena por tener la mejor rentabilidad por comida, pero espero que esta reseña la vea mucha gente para que la afluencia baje y a cambio la calidad mejore.

La experiencia en este bar ha sido muy decepcionante. La mayoría de mesas están en terraza y no lo informan al hacer la reserva, lo cual genera confusión. El servicio fue extremadamente lento; tardaron mucho en sacar los platos y los camareros iban desorganizados y estresados. La calidad de la comida no justifica en absoluto el precio tan elevado. Además, no tienen en cuenta información básica sobre alérgenos o recomendaciones para embarazadas, lo cual nos parece muy poco profesional hoy en día. No lo recomendaríamos ni por la atención, ni por la comida, ni por el trato al cliente. Una gran decepción.

Do not recommend to eat here - the meatballs were cold & not tasty, the calamares were not done and when we asked to frie them again they were still not good and the staff reacted unfriendly and the sauce with the patatas were also bad. We didn’t finish any of our plates and no one asked us why or if we liked it. Only good for a drink but otherwise very poor quality.

With so many places to choose from, we wanted tot try something new…huge mistake! We got the prawns no taste, alioli no taste, sauces no taste, tortilla was ok and gazpacho good. We were a bit rushed by the waitress and were drawn by the cue outside so didn’t think about ordering 1 dish at the time to test them. Go to Lola, el pimpi or other famous places, avoid this tourist trap!
