What a delightful dining experience for a Mother's Day brunch. People here are very friendly and the food is excellent. The outdoor dining patio is cute with good vibes. With the LA sun, we really enjoyed the outdoor dining environment. This is our first time here. For Mother's Day, the restaurant offers a special brunch/lunch menu. The vino selection is extensive. We had a glass of Chardonnay to go with our food. Delectable wine paired perfectly with our seafood meal. Although this is our first time here, we were impressed with the food. The calamari appetizer was extraordinary. The batter on the calamari was flaky and crispy. We loved it. The main dishes were fabulous. For the Linguine Alla Positano and the Branzino, the flavor and the texture of the pasta were amazing. These dishes were delicious. Since we are in an Italian restaurant, a meal wouldn't be complete without a lasagna. The Lasagna Al Sugo Di Vitello at this restaurant with the brown meat and the red tomato sauce looked mouth watering. The creamy cheese made this dish so yummy. We glad that we ordered it. At the end of our meal, the restaurant gave my wife a red rose to wish her Happy Mother's Day. It was a perfect ending to our Mother's Day brunch.
Omgoodness what a beautiful neighborhood gem! Went here for a date night on a Friday night, I didn't go inside so can't speak to the inside but the back patio is so cute with lights, speaker, and heaters if needed. The service was warm and thorough, what I assume is an Italian family owned restaurant. That pasta texture o.m.g. perfectly al dente with so much flavor and the perfect chewiness. I loved my dish the rigatoni al sugo di Manzo, the short rib was so soft and good. My partner got the pappareelle al cinghiale, sauce was a little sweet for my liking but the noodles again were amazing. Meatballs were also so good, the flavor was 10/10. Even the bread and olive oil and vinegar were delicious lol. A little on the pricier side but I feel like with a location on Lincoln and also with the quality of the food, definitely worth it for a nice night out. Can't wait to come back.
Just discovered this restaurant on Lincoln Blvd that has been there for a decade. Going in thru an art studio into the back patio this place has its charm. Really loved fried calamari and the veal with lemon sauce. Portions are on a big side. Service is kind and attentive. Owner is very friendly. Good selection of wines as well. Glad I found it.
Outstanding dinner. Definitely some of the best pasta dishes ever created. If you’re looking for an authentic experience, look no further…
I've been going to this place for years and I still say this place has some of the best Italian food in the city. It's a perfect mix of rustic favors from the north and the simple, clean flavors of the southern Italian coast. The place itself is small, quaint and only has about a dozen tables, so do make a reservation. The service is spectacular and the whole experience was like dining at a place with Michilan Star. If you haven't been...go, if you haven't been in a while, the menu changes...make a reservation!
This place has some downfalls, but overall it is quite nice. From the front, the restaurant isn’t very attractive, but the patio is pretty. The personnel is friendly and attentive, but the service overall isn’t super quick, but at the same time it is not drearily long. Most dishes we tried were delicious, especially the pastas. They are very well-cooked and served. In our opinion, Caprese and E Pere salad were quite plain, but still good. Caprese did not come with balsamic, which is quite unusual for Italian restaurants, and E Pere had very little amounts of sauce and salt. The ingredients in every dish are very fresh, though. Each portion was manageable and we enjoyed our time in this place. It is quite popular and while we have been dining, the patio filled completely. Definitely will come back for some more pasta!
Lots of reviews for Locanda Positano from people who make a point of leaving a lot of 3 star reviews. Highly recommend giving this place a try for yourself. Quiet, tasteful and welcoming space. Seriously great food. Fantastic wine list. Awesome staff. Great date spot or just a night to treat yourself. Had the radicchio and braised pear salad, wild boar pappardelle, and braised lamb shank with saffron risotto. Superb dining experience and it’s our new go-to Italian spot in MdR/Venice area.
Great food, great service. We didn't love our wines, but the appetizers and pasta were superb. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommend the burrata!
Locanda Positano took me back to the small towns of Italy. Where the pride of family cooking in a intimate setting and great tasting wines are memories of younger days. Thanks for the great service and tasty cappuccino with our dessert
Hidden away from the street and decent portion sizes. All of the food was tasty, I got the linguine alla positano and they definitely didn't skimp on the seafood, which I appreciated. I could see this as a date night spot.
Visited granddaughter at LMU campus. Trip wouldn't be complete without dinner at Laconda. Fabulous meal again.
Was surprised to discover such a great place by my house. Always great service, fresh and delicious food, and such a tempting menu
This review is long overdue, but I want to take a moment to sincerely thank the owners, Patrizia and Michaelangelo, for being such gracious and welcoming hosts. We held a baby shower at Locanda Positano, and the entire experience was truly exceptional from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, authentic, and beautifully presented! The team is clearly very experienced in handling large parties, which made everything run so smoothly. They were also incredibly flexible with the space, allowing us to bring our own decorations and make the room feel personal and festive. Service throughout the event was attentive, warm, and professional without ever feeling rushed. Pricing was straightforward, transparent, and very reasonable for the quality of food, service, and venue provided. If you are looking for a medium-to-large event space with amazing food, a welcoming atmosphere, and hosts who go above and beyond to make your celebration special, I wholeheartedly recommend Locanda Positano. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate such a meaningful occasion.
Great patio catering. A baby shower event. Perfect service with wonderful attention from staff. Over the top Italian classic plates were endlessly brought to the table. Wonderful experience.
Great authentic Italian food of very high quality. And service is excellent. Highly recommended.
Locanda Positano is a gem in Marina del Rey. We ordered a spread of antipasti, pastas, and entrées, and every dish was spot-on — fresh, perfectly prepared, and true to classic Italian cooking. The setting is cozy and feels a little tucked away, which makes it a great choice when you want something more intimate. If you’re looking for outstanding Italian food in the Marina area, this place should be at the top of your list.
The restaurant is intimate in its physical space so reservations obviously are a necessity. Even then you may have to wait a short bit because customers don't operate by reservation times. The service was pleasant and attentive, the menu is quite varied and the dishes for the most part are plentiful and quite good. The pasta seafood is beyond compare, and well worth its price point. Overall restaurant is a bit pricey for it's offerings, but they do have an extensive wine selection for those that enjoy. New York steak was grilled medium and full of flavor with excellent tenderness. The mini bombolone was excellent and surprisingly airy and delicious. The calamari was so light and perfectly fried with just the right seasoning with a side marinara that's drinkable. I think we would definitely visit again for a special occasion.
This nice and small place with low light. There are about 20 seats in total. We ordered two appetizers, two dishes, and two deserts (kind of too much for a party of two ha).
Locanda is a tiny place on Lincoln Blvd. in Marina Del Rey. Parking is a bear, but you may be able to find a place on the street. Once you arrive you have to walk though the outdoor seating to get inside. The outdoor seating looks bland and boring. We decided to dine inside. It is very pretty. It is small and I like that very much. The service was simply average. For the price of this place I expect fine dinning service. That did not happen. I think our server was not happy that we did not order wine. We don't drink when together--sorry. We were served bread which was very good. Our food was simply fine, but for the price we were not pleased. If you want to charge fine dinning prices than serve fine dinning food. Now, my husbands swordfish was very good, but the piece of fish was so very thin. My pasta, a lasagna, was not even close to the outrageous price we paid for it. It tasted a bit better than Olive Garden. I am not kidding. Our server did not ask about dessert, we actually did not see him once he dropped the food, until he thought we were done and came with a bill. They have a dessert menu it turns out, but it was not offered to us. Finally, the place says it is great for a meal, but the menu says "...because of Covid do not linger.." Are you kidding me. No one had on a mask, so I don't think they were concerned at all. I felt rushed and the place was not crowded. I thought the server bordered on rude. If I am starving I may try it again, I live so close, but really, pick a lane, don't linger because of Covid, but no employee has to wear a mask. Give me a break.
Cool patio vibe. But the food was average and service was a bit slow. The veal was rubbery. My wife's pasta was better and the seafood tasted fresh.
