Best BBQ I’ve had in California - just as good as the brisket I’ve had in Texas. Nice to have music as well
Amazing service from Josh, he was friendly and hospitable, definitely knows his stuff when it comes to BBQ. The food was truly some of the best around. The Mac n cheese was the perfect “comfort food” taste and I would go back just to order that by itself. The coleslaw was a refreshing bite, the cilantro and bell pepper was a nice addition and not too creamy. Sweet potato tots and the chipotle aioli was the perfect addition as well as the loaded baked potato (side order, not main dish). Josh served it to table and gave us the house made sauce, regular and spicy. (Spicy wasn’t too spicy but packed a punch of flavor) The ribs fell off the bone perfectly and melted in your mouth, tasted divine with and without the sauce. Will definitely be making this a regular spot to come back to and cannot wait to try more off the menu. (Not pictured, white wine sangria - sweet applesauce refreshing taste- pineapple cider from the drink list )
We went for dinner to this location on Wednesday night and it was packed . They had karaoke music and it was lots of fun . Food was amazing and servers were super nice and caring . We definitely will go back . We were 10 of us and we used the patio with nice heaters. Update: We went back for my daughter’s birthday again 20 guests and they set up the back yard with all birthday decorations. Food was delicious and servers were super welcoming . Jarrett was very attentive and constantly checked on us to make sure everything is okay . The karaoke was lots of fun and several of our guests sang and everyone had a great time . Thank you again for a great service and delicious food Slow Hand BBQ . Thank you also to Patric and your Team .
We had corned beef Reuben sandwich. We had regular tater tots. It might be only temporary, as they usually only have sweet potato tots. So go there and order the potato tots so they keep them. The beer was delicious! It was over the top, amazingly good. Staff was so nice, personable, and charming. My new favorite BBQ spot. I could only get a picture of my wife's sandwich as I devoured mine

1st time to this location. I used to go to the pleasant Hill location on Sundays for the dino ribs. However... This location was amazing! Staff was friendly and polite. Ribs were delicious as always! We arrived just as the live music started. Definitely worth the 20min drive from a nearby city. I will be back and I will be telling fam and friends about this location.
I have been their client of their Pleasant Hill location. Thia place has been truly the only perfect BBQ place! I would call it best if they had competition. Unfortunately, i was one of the last clients of p.Hill location, we will be the new clients of Martinez location. So not waste your money and hopes in other so called BBQ places. Especially try their big daddy beef on Sundays. My recommendation is to dine in for sure.
This place is top notch! I swear some of the best ribs and brisket that I've had in California, and Texas! Their corned beef is fanominal! The service is fantastic and their prices aren't bad considering the quality of food and service you receive!
Worked with Dan At Slow Hand for our catered family reunion Christmas Christmas party of 35 guests. The Food was delicious and Dan and his staff were very accommodating. I would highly recommend Slow Hand BBQ for your next event, There The Best !
Really good BBQ, Martinez location is not that big, but staff are friendly and the food is excellent, my wife is celiac and has never got sick, so a favorite for us.
The food was incredible—perfectly smoked meats, rich flavor, and portions that definitely don’t disappoint. You can tell they take their time with the process because everything came out tender, juicy, and packed with that authentic BBQ taste. The sides were just as good as the main dishes, and the sauces complemented everything without overpowering the meat. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again. If you’re in Martinez and craving real BBQ, this place is definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend supporting this local gem.
Great meal!!! I would say tri tip is not for me, it's a bit too soft or a bit less bbq the taste. Other than that the meal was good and price was good and it's nice that fountain drinks and ice tea is refillable! Great ambient and very welcoming staff!! Until next time, from Oakland :)

We love the tri tip, baby back ribs and chicken at Slow Hand. I would rate them a 5. Sides are ok - nothing special. Informal atmosphere. Really friendly, helpful employees.

Delicious ribs but their BBQ sauce is way to watered down. They had live music and the staff is very attentive. For this I'm keeping it at 5 stars
Incredible food, stellar service and a great location. Every time we’ve gone to Slow Hand BBQ - it’s been great! The staff are so personable, it’s clean and the food is delicious. Highly recommend their corned beef!
We randomly stopped here for dinner on our way back home. It was busy and lively, and it was seemingly karaoke night, which was great fun. The food was great- especially the brisket. The sides were had (Mac n cheese, potato salad, and beans) were very nice. The chicken we had was a little dry, but still tasted great. Try the red sauce on the table, it’s spicy but not too bad.
I really enjoyed this place. The food was pleantious. The employees were great! They place was nice. I got a sampler that had brisket, baby backs and St. Louis Ribs. My server suggest it. Tye sauces weren't overpowering, but I felt, they lacked “zest” or panache. The meat was juicy with a dry rub. This place wouldn't be a bad choice for lunch or dinner. With help this invested in their job, it sure beats a ton of restaurants on taste, cost and enjoyable experience. I didn't have room for desert, which is remarkable.
The smoky smell a barbecue from the street drew us in...a very friendly man behind the counter greeted us warmly invited us to sit and look at the menu. This is a very popular spot with three or four groups of people coming in as we looked over the menu. We were offered free drinks with our lunch purchase, a very nice touch. We opted to try the Tri tip sandwich. The meat was amazingly tender, bread nice n soft. It came w pickles and onion on the side. However it lacked a super smoky taste we were hoping for. Still delicious and worth the mention. The loaded potato was hearty and my husband enjoyed. The potato salad was on the mustardy side it really took over the taste profile. Personally I didn't like it that much. I didn't finish it, but if you like it mustard, you'll probably love it. I believe they're barbecue sauces are made in house. They have 2 different kinds of sauces, one sweet and 1 spicy. However, I will mention that I have never had a barbecue sauce like these before. They were not bad but the taste disappeared quickly. I dont really know how to describe it. Disappearing taste sauce , it did not linger on the palate , as barbecue sauce normally would? Not bad just kinda unusual. I also didnt find the spicy to be spicy ,As mentioned before, this place was super busy for lunch in Martinez and I can see why, with the friendly staff and super tender meat. I wouldn't mind trying something else again from here, I kind of wish I had gotten the smoked french dip which was on special on the friday we were down there.
Got a combo for two, I wish I got one other meat not just the ribs. Ribs were kinda dry and fibrous. Beans were strange sour taste and dressing on Cole slaw was too plain. Live music was good for atmosphere though
1st time here! Good spot for driving thru Martinez. Staff was friendly and chill! The sweet potato tots and SAUCE was the star amongst our two meals. My bf wanted to try the stouts they had on tap and the gals gladly provided.

We love coming here for a BBQ fix! The 3-meat combo is a great value, especially with the brisket, which is definitely our favorite. While the chicken sometimes needs a little extra sauce to help with dryness, the overall experience is top-notch. Great beer list and the staff is incredibly friendly and fast. Definitely worth a visit!
The juicy brisket was very good, as were the mac & cheese and sweet potato tots. The baby back ribs were dry and tasted like they were at least a day old. Josh, our server, was friendly with great customer service. He made our dinner much more enjoyable.

I prefer this location to the Pleasant Hill one. The food here seems better prepared and tastier. It is pricy (but that's BBQ) decent portion sizes and friendly staff
Tonight my brother and I decided to check out Slow Hand BBQ in Martinez. We kicked things off with the Brisket Nachos and Jalapeño Poppers. The nachos were surprisingly good — and that’s saying something since I’m not usually a nacho guy lol. The poppers, though, were a bit of a letdown — soggy and seemed like they’d been made a few hours earlier. Still, even soggy bacon is better than no bacon, right? For dinner, I went with the Two-Meat Plate featuring St. Louis Ribs and Brisket, with coleslaw and sweet potato tots on the side. The sides just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The ribs were decent, but the brisket was the real standout — tender, smoky, and full of flavor. My buddy had the St. Louis Ribs and Tri-Tip; he really enjoyed the ribs but wasn’t impressed with the tri-tip. Service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was cool — laid-back and perfect for a casual night out. They also have a solid beer selection, which definitely adds to the experience. Overall, Slow Hand BBQ has some bright spots (especially the brisket and service), but a few items could use a little more love to make it a home run. As I always say go check em out and have your own experience. And remember to follow me on IG @hungry_dude_usa

This was my 2nd and last time getting food from this place. The first time was fine except the Cole slaw was a disappointment. Too much stuff in it. This time I had the fattiest beef rib ever! Had to throw away 20%, inedible fat. At the cost of $35, where's the Beef?

Visited this place while working in Martinez and being from Texas I was hopeful to get a taste from back home. The pricing is on par with meals around town, so I have no complaints about that. My only complaint was that most of the food we got was dry, ohh and the BBQ sauce is horrible! Will give it another shot when I’m back in town, maybe it was just an off day.
Worst bbq I ever had. $43+ after tip. Received 4 small pieces of ribs and clump of small ball of brisket. They were both dry as cardboard even after I asked for juicy brisket. This was supposed to feed two people they said but portion barely enough for one person. For this amount of money what I got was dried up pieces of meat that was a day old or more. They have no business owning a bbq place. I’ve gone to Martinez regularly for breakfast. Iron skillet delicious awesome place. This slow hand bbq was cardboard garbage. After reading few other reviews it seems others have mentioned the same comment. Dry day old leftovers. Oh and I thought brisket supposed to come in slices. Not here. I got a clump of old dry meat. Never will I go back to this disgusting place.
