We had a wonderful dining experience! The butter chicken was absolutely delicious, with tender, flavorful chicken that my kids couldn’t get enough of. The kebab platter was not only tasty but also beautifully presented—it’s clear they put a lot of thought into the details. To top it off, the desserts were a perfect way to end the meal. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food! I have not been to many Indian restaurants at all so this was an amazing experience. Fantastic food presentations and taste! The service was great and they gave us complimentary fries. The espresso martini was nice and strong!
This place is kind of hidden but worth the search. My wife and I went to a concert at the Bella Donna Chapel about 100 feet away from this restaurant. When we got out of our car to walk to the venue, we could smell the wonderful spices in the garage and it already had us hungry. After the concert, we walked to the restaurant and were greeted promptly at the door. We notice a wide assortment of expertly created drinks at tables but settled for something more sublime but the large tables seemed to be enjoying themselves but not so loudly that the smaller tables of families couldn't enjoy themselves. We got a window seat settled in and had a great appetizer of Nutty Delight with Paneer, then shared a Paneer kabob, but the star was the Kofta Curry. The kofta curry was a plate of a curry sauce that was yogurt based with Indian mountain spices and it had little dumplings within it. It was awesome. We could tell it was actual food not processed items heated up. It was prepared with care and an concern for the customers taste. It was hot, no doubt but it was great.
I recently celebrated my 50th birthday at Tantra, and the experience was truly outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and incredibly well-coordinated. The staff went above and beyond to make the celebration special — ensuring everything ran smoothly, accommodating our group, and making us feel genuinely welcome. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and consistently excellent throughout the evening. A special thanks to Sai, for running such a fantastic establishment and for the personal touch that made the evening even more memorable. You can tell the team truly cares about their guests and takes great pride in what they do. Highly recommend Tantra for special occasions or anyone looking for great food paired with exceptional service. We’ll definitely be back!
Absolutely Delicious! I had an amazing experience! The food was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Every dish was a standout—from the presentation to the taste. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted high-quality. The service was warm and attentive, and the overall ambiance made the meal even more enjoyable. It’s rare to find a place that truly exceeds expectations, but this one definitely did. Highly recommended!
If you’re craving Indian food that’s flavorful without being over the top, Tantra Indian Cuisine is the place to be. The menu is full of creativity — their Kiwi Berry, Mango Ginger, and Chai-tini cocktails, along with the Tropical Berry Punch and Tantra Special, are all must-tries and pair beautifully with the food. Every dish is thoughtfully presented, from tender chicken and rich paneer to buttery naan and some of the most flavorful mutton I’ve had in a while. And dessert is not to be missed — the ‘Tantra Temptation’ was the perfect sweet ending. The restaurant also has space for private parties, making it a great choice for birthdays or celebrations. Plus, the patio overlooks a charming European-style setup that makes you feel like you’re dining abroad. Tantra Indian Cuisine is definitely a spot to add to your list for both food and atmosphere!
Had an unforgettable dining experience at Tantra Modern Indian Bistro! 🌟 The evening began with flavorful Chilli Bites and perfectly spiced Apollo Fish, setting the tone for an incredible meal. The Mango Ginger Cocktail was the ideal refreshing start, followed by authentic chicken fried rice that was bursting with flavor. The kebabs were tender and smoky, while the Mutton Grand Korma was rich, aromatic, and absolutely delicious. With so many beautifully crafted dishes, every bite was a delight. To end on a sweet note, the Himalayan Dream and Tantra Temptations desserts were simply spectacular — the perfect finale to a truly memorable evening!!
Tantra offers an absolutely stunning dining experience when it comes to ambience and atmosphere. The interiors are beautifully designed, with a warm, inviting vibe that sets the perfect mood whether you’re dining with friends, family, or on a special occasion. The attention to detail in the presentation of the dishes is equally impressive—every plate feels like a work of art, making the dining experience feel elevated and memorable. While the setting and presentation are truly awesome, the taste of the food could improve to fully match the overall experience.
Located in a chic downtown of McKinney locality, this Indian restaurant is a quite a charm on the lakeside. With a fantastic outdoor seating with Lakeview, it's a fanatic place to visit for special occasions. Parking is available on the streets and at multi storey building nearby. Ambiance is one thing that will charm the people visiting the place. With nice outdoor and Indoor seating restaurant gives a fantastic atmosphere for a quite evening. Menu is set based on indian cuisine and culinary experts would definitely like the varieties available on the menu. Lot of vegetarian options and heaven for non vegetarians. Fantastic taste and variety. Appetizers were perfect. Roti cooked as much as required. Dal Makhani was made to perfection. Everything is a must try. Bar has lot of drink options including alcoholic and non alcoholic. Desserts are fantastic. Sri has taken lot of care and tried his best to perfect the restaurant to stand out amongst all the Indian fine dining options in DFW. Overall a great experience and team Tantra is striving hard to be the best. Give it a try!!!
This place is amazing. Though it is a bistro and more americanized, I find the food very well balanced on taste, spice and flavors. Their paneer was so mouth-watering and the chutney on the side was complimenting so well. And this place has the best ambience and surroundings possibly you can think of. The server was also very friendly, warm and welcoming. We had an amazing time. This upscale place is perfect for any date or party. Look at the stunning pictures I am going to attach. 100% recommended if You're looking for some great time with your partner and/or friends/family.
This is little pricey but worth. Tantra Indian Restaurant & Bar in McKinney, TX, is an absolute gem! The waterfront view combined with beautifully mounted wall art creates an ambiance that’s both lively and relaxing, making it a perfect spot for dining out. The service was phenomenal, with the staff attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered the chicken drumsticks, and I must say, I’ve never had such delicious, flavorful drumsticks—perfectly cooked and seasoned! The Apollo fish was also a highlight—juicy, tender, and absolutely mouth-watering. Both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries were bursting with authentic flavors, and the naans were incredibly soft, pairing perfectly with each dish. As for cocktails, the Old Fashioned and the ginger drink were on another level—expertly mixed and a great complement to the food. Tantra is definitely a must-visit for anyone craving top-notch Indian cuisine with great drinks and a stunning ambiance. Highly recommended!
I celebrated Galentine's Day with friends and had mixed experiences. The initial welcome was a bit cold, but our server Shiva was attentive and friendly. Service was slow despite being fairly busy, and some staff seemed disengaged. The food was enjoyable, with standout drinks and an outstanding gulab jamun dessert. However, the dress code discrepancy was noticeable. Overall, it's a solid option if you're nearby, but might not quite hit the fine dining mark.
The service provided by Shiva was truly top-notch and made us feel like VIPs throughout the entire experience. He was extremely attentive, friendly, and proactive in sharing helpful information about the food and drink options, which made ordering easy and enjoyable. The food itself was delicious and well prepared; however, it did feel a bit overpriced when compared to the portion sizes. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant and inviting, although some of the walls appear to be coming apart and could use maintenance. With a few improvements on pricing and upkeep, this place has great potential.
I visited Tantra Indian Restaurant in McKinney and really enjoyed the food. Ordered Drum of Heaven, Paneer Chilli Bites, and chicken Fried Rice. Everything tasted good and the portions were generous. The sauce with the appetizers was very tasty. Tried the Tantra Elixir mocktail, which was okay. Only thing missing is biryani on the menu – hope they add it soon. Overall, a good place for tasty Indian food.
Tantra Modern Indian Bistro in McKinney is a highly rated gem that pairs stunning waterfront views with an elevated dining experience. Set against a backdrop of green pastures and tranquil water, the location is nothing short of picturesque, and the fantastic outdoor seating area makes it an ideal spot for a relaxed yet sophisticated meal. The menu offers creative fusion Indian cuisine, blending traditional flavors with modern presentations, and is complemented by a wide variety of drinks and indulgent desserts.
Honestly the food was good. I really liked the taste but It did give me and my friends food poisoning right after so I’m a little dicey on how I feel about the place. I liked the ambiance and staff they were v nice. I would recommend chilli bites and hot harmony. Def do not recommend the authentic fried rice. It was one of the worst fried rice I’ve tried. And everything else was really good.
Very disappointed by our recent experience. We have visited Tantra several times with large groups but our most recent visit was extremely disappointing. One of the servers, Dinesh, refused to take away an empty drink glass from my hand. He looked at it and walked away saying he wouldn’t take it from me. He then went and stood by the bar area. When I asked him about it later he said “it’s not my job to take the dishes, I only take orders.” I have never before seen a server refuse to take away an empty glass/dish. When I asked another server about it, she said that although they have a wait staff whose primary responsibility is to remove empty dishes, the servers can also remove them as needed. When I complained about Dinesh’s behavior, he became argumentative and lied about being in the middle of serving other customers (when in fact he went and stood by the bar after refusing to carry away my glass). He was extremely unapologetic and argumentative about this. When I asked to speak with the manager, he refused to let me talk to a manager saying “why do you need to talk to the manager?” Aside from the situation above, not a single dish from our small table for four people was cleared out. Even the empty appetizer dishes were left on the table and new dishes were just shoved on one side of the table, the servers didn’t seem interested in walking around to the other side of the table to place the food on that side. They just kept pushing the previous dish ware with the new dishes. I’m sharing a photo of what our table looked like as we were leaving, with all empty dishes on it, no one seemed bothered to move the empty dishes out of our way. No one bothered to refill the water cups, not even once. No one came to ask us if the food was ok. The chicken kababs had no salt (the chef most likely forgot to salt the marinade) and when we asked for salt, it took them over 10 minutes for them to get some salt for us. Lastly, considering that this is a high end restaurant, the servers seemed fixated only on taking the order and getting their tips. No follow ups and no concern about the patrons. I mentioned to our original server a few times that we were celebrating my parent’s anniversary but at no point did she bother to wish them a happy anniversary even though they were sitting right there! Overall, while there were so many opportunities for the servers to make the situation right but they didn’t. Dinesh had an arrogance about him, operating on the belief that he was too good to carry away a used glass and then the added attitude of lying and being argumentative. When I asked to speak with the manager, the servers didn’t want me to do so. I finally insisted and was told he wasn’t at the restaurant and was also unreachable by phone. I gave them my number and asked for him to call me the next day. I’ve now given him a day and a half to call me but apparently the manager is also not interested in extending any remorse over ruining our celebratory dinner.
We went here hoping for a cozy dinner, but unfortunately left disappointed. We ordered the kebab platter, one of their signature dishes, but all the items tasted the same and the pieces were quite hard to cut. On top of that, our dining experience felt uncomfortable—despite there being plenty of space to walk in front, the staff kept passing right behind us, which was disturbing and took away from our conversation. The only highlight was the non-alcoholic shots and mocktails, which we really enjoyed. However, overall, the food and experience didn’t live up to expectations, and we left feeling let down.
I hate leaving reviews that result from disappointment of the food. For a restaurant that is designed to be upscale, you would expect the food to at least be tasty for the price you pay. We have been looking forward to trying Tantra since we had moved to the area. However, everything we had ordered was not tasty and could not justify even half of the cost. Along with terribly small portions. Definitely don’t get the meatballs, it was grainy in texture, dry and barely any meat. The butter chicken is not what you’ll expect. It was creamy and rich, however lacked flavor and spice. We also waited a LONG time for a waitress and went quite a while without refills on our waters.
Everything except the drinks were bad. I had high hopes. Unfortunately, I didn’t read the reviews and go. We had a kebab chicken platter and the none of the chicken had a taste, was undercooked and not crispy or smoky. For the mains, we had garlic naan and kofta curry. The naan was a tiny portion of 6 pieces, flat and not fluffy like a normal naan. The kofta base had a milk like consistency ?! and undercooked kofta, bad taste. For the price, wasn’t worth it. Please change the cook or management.
I can feel MILIND’S emotion!!!!! This review comes straight from the heart. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it fully — it truly matters. We were a group of nine celebrating a few achievements and decided to treat ourselves with a “fine dining” experience at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the only part that went smoothly was booking the table — and that was because it was done through OpenTable. Everything after that was a steep downhill ride. From the moment we were seated, no one attended to our table for several minutes. When someone finally came by, their greeting was a blunt “what do you want?” — no courtesy, no introductions, and not even a single food recommendation. The hospitality was shockingly poor. Trying to stay optimistic, we ordered drinks and appetizers, including the “Pahadi Spiced Paneer Skewers.” The presentation was entirely different from the one advertised, but that wasn’t even the real issue — the paneer was ice-cold and rock hard. The Jalfrezi appetizer, described as “crispy,” was soggy and cold. When we asked why, the staff casually told us that their kitchen prepares food in advance and just serves it when ordered. For a restaurant claiming to offer fine dining, this is completely unacceptable. For our main course, we ordered Veggie Do Pyaza, Dal Makhani, and Kofta Curry with assorted breads. The Dal Makhani was passable, but the Kofta Curry had a strange flavor — almost like stale mac and cheese — and even seemed to contain undercooked cheddar. The Veggie Do Pyaza was watery and looked hastily prepared. The breads arrived cold, dry, and unappetizing, ruining what little we had left of the dining experience. We also requested fried rice and Hakka noodles. First, they told us the noodles were unavailable, so we ordered two portions of fried rice instead. Minutes later, they returned to inform us that they could only make one portion. It was almost comical how consistently disappointing the night became. By the end, all nine of us felt frustrated and cheated — the food quality, service, and overall experience simply didn’t justify the high prices. The only positive I can mention is the restaurant’s location. Beyond that, I would strongly discourage anyone from dining here. There are plenty of Indian fine dining restaurants across DFW that actually deliver value for your money. To the Tantra team — please stop misleading customers with inflated reviews. Focus on improving your service, your food, and most importantly, the overall dining experience. Guests should feel welcomed and cared for, not ignored and disappointed.
We went here for dinner with my husband and friends, expecting a fine dining experience, but it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. No one attended to our table for nearly 20 minutes after we were seated. One server silently dropped plates and water without a word, and another came to take our order without greeting or basic courtesy. The appetizers — Pahadi Spiced Paneer Skewers and Jalfrezi — arrived cold. The paneer was dry and rock hard, and the Jalfrezi was soggy. When we questioned it, the staff said “that’s how it is here.” Only the Chilli Paneer Bites, which were sent as a replacement, were decent. For mains, Dal Makhani was average, but Kofta Curry and Veggie Do Pyaza were watery and tasteless. The naan looked like leftover pieces, cut into small bits as if meant for children, and was completely dry and hard. To make things worse, they mishandled our order for noodles and fried rice, kept changing their story, and argued when we tried to cancel. Terrible service, untrained staff, and subpar food — nothing about this place reflects fine dining. Definitely not worth the money or time.
All looks and no substance! Looks nice but most horrible food and service. Specifically asked that hakka noodles for kids to be made without any chilies, and it was served with green chilies i it. Curries were not just bland but flavorless served with raw rotis. We ordered Kofta, daal makhani and veg do pyaaza, please don’t. Curries that were asked to be made spicy came sprinkled with raw green chilies. 22% gratuity for this horrible experience. By no means this is a fine dine and not worth the premium price they’re are charging. Very rarely do I write such negative reviews, but had to do this as a social service. Save yourself by avoiding this place.
