Really good the brisket I had lacked just a little touch of smoky flavor but made up for it in tenderness and it was really juicy it was really good to me I also had the Mac and cheese which also was really good and the green beans need a little bit of bacon to make them fire but they were good anyway and had great flavor the spicy sauce was 🔥 10 out of 10 on that I did try their buttermilk pie 15/10 on that rating wise 8/10 on everything I will be back for more

So good u got a special with chopped meat sandwich and two sides. The smothered potatoes gets 5 stars. The green beans were well seasoned and delicious. The sauce is sweet but with a little hot sauce made it perfect. As you see my plate was almost empty before I could stop and take a picture. Also the pecan pie is a mix between a chess pie texture with pecan on top. Delicious.

The staff here knows my parents by their names!! The best BBQ but also the best location! The place is always kept clean, the FOOD IS ALWAYS ON POINT, in the 12 years we've been coming here and we have not ever had any issues at all with food or service! My dad likes ALL the fat on his meat but my mom and I ask to cut super lean and they cut it All off for us! Yay! And free ice cream is back! So, Don't let the long lines scare ya, we don't usually wait very long and it's worth every dang minute for this food!!!

I came in and it was a lovely place. The staff were friendly. The food was tasty. I had the brisket, ribs, Texas toast, Mac and cheese, and coleslaw. After finishing a 2nd portion, I ended up with the itis and it was good!!

I ordered the smoked half chicken plate with potato salad and green beans. Delicious. The spicy BBQ sauce was just that- spicy, but it was good. The staff members were friendly and courteous. overall, a good experience.

This is by far the ABSOLUTE best barbecue!!! I am a sauce lover and I rarely use any sauce with the ribs. They are so good that the taste alone is incredible! And the fries??? OMG!!!

Ooo man..Texas barbecue at its finest and I mean good. This is a family run place and has been around since 1974 (says it on the sign) and I can certainly see why. I had the ham sandwich, macaroni and cheese and of course an ice cold fountain coke. After your meal you can get free yes I said it FREE soft serve ice cream and its sooo good. The atmosphere is very nice with several mounted TVs to watch and the music was at a perfect volume so you could carry on a conversation. I was really impressed by the whole atmosphere and the food is even better. I found the prices to be very reasonable and I Highly RECOMMEND this place and I know that you will love it as well.

It is a great place to come eat but it is too small good thing me and my kids went on a week day and there was planti of seats available but I feel like it gets full on weekends. We order the bake potato with brisket it was OK I was expecting the brisket like more shredded. We also order the plate with sausage pulled pork with ranch beans and corn chips omg that was delicious I loved it. That is going to be my favorite with bbq sauce on the side. I also order chicken tenders with fries for the kids they loved it the fries are really good. And I want to thank Mr James for serving our food i told him it was our first time there and he explained everything very well. He is kind and did great customer service. We will definitely coming back.

my family and i went to try out the big catch and it was DELICIOUS, the workers were really nice serving my food and any questions that i had they answered quick! 10/10 service, and the bust boy with gold glasses was the sweetest and very kind and helped me with my trades and we made a good conversation, definitely coming back soon!

The baked potatoes here are still big and still stuffed. The price is still A LOT less than other places closer to me. The pulled pork combo was on special and included sandwich, 2 huge sides and a drink for $10.50!!!! Can’t beat it with a stick!

I was actually leaving Texas, still trying to find good bbq. I think they close around 9 p.m. I got there around 8:30. People were helpful and friendly. I wanted to try everything that I could. I ordered chicken, brisket sides and dessert. Even took home a novelty cup. Definitely will remain on my to do list.

I seem to order the same thing each time. I always have a half slab of ribs and baked potatoe,next time I'm thinking of trying just the baked potatoe and probably two meats. What i liked about the potatoe is it's always hot with just the right amount of butter,cheese and bacon. The ribs are always on point but you must get their spicy rib sauce. The service is always pleasant and inviting and the atmosphere calm and clean. The prices are reasonable.

Soulman's is the place for some good BBQ! They have a huge menu with a wide variety of foods to choose from. From BBQ plates, sandwiches, BBQ baked potatoes, BBQ bowls and fried catfish plates and a large variety of southern home style sides! This was my first visit and I ordered the Boss Hog Sandwich. With BBQ brisket, pulled pork, BBQ sausage, smoked ham and bacon with a side of beans, this is a full meal between buns! The other folks in our party really enjoyed the BBQ ribs and BBQ baked potatoes. Exceptionally large portions at good prices and free soft serve ice cream cones after you eat. Service couldn't get any better!

I have been trying different Barbeque places and I came across this restaurant. It was a take out, but they have a well variety of meet, as you will see on the pictures. The gentleman serving the meet, Martin, was very friendly. Their meet was hot, the brisket was so soft and I love the way they prepared their sausage because it was very juice. Their sides have a very homemade taste. I sure will visit them again. Recommend 100%!

Waited a while to be greeted while in line. I get the lady before us bought a mega meal, but 6 staff members and no one could greet us and say hey give us a few minutes... Creamed corn was so spicy! I like spice but man. Pretty good place meat was amazing, we'll be back just next time ordering before hand and different sides.

The food was delicious. The line was long and moved slowly for this visit (roughly 30 minutes to order). It was very, very hot inside. I don't know if they were being stingy with the thermostat or if there was something wrong with the system. I probably won't return to this location unless it's cool outside

This has been our neighborhood BBQ joint for a number of years . Soulmans BBQ - is consistently good, fresh, a really good menu with variety and specials. Are there good but they're not band that awesome like some places such as Black's BBQ Deep Ellum.. however for a chain restaurant they are good. Try either trucker special or chuck wagon.

Bar B Que has been spoiled for me by Rib City Bar B Que in Florida they have the best baby backs and sauces to go with. I have yet to find a comparable place to Rib City. I was very disappointed by Soulman's not what I was expecting. It's advertised as a BarBQue but it's a Smoke House. If you like smoked ribs theirs is very tasty but I'm not into smoked ribs. I gotta say go try it, lots of people love it and recommend it, it's just not for me

I got the three meat plate with the ribs, brisket, and sausage. I also got the coleslaw and ranch beans. The ribs were on point, good flavor and cooked to just before fall off the bone. The sausage was flavorful. The brisket was ok. They were tender , it showed a good smoke ring however it only had a hint of smoke. It lacked on internal flavor. Now this might be fine for those that don’t like it overpowering, however, it could have had a little more to it. The slaw was bland and lacking , it tasted like eating a cabbage salad needed more vinegar to make more slaw taste. The ranch beans needed more flavor, maybe add some bbq sauce (I did this and it tasted way better). Overall pretty good.

Top-notch BBQ, without a doubt. As for the atmosphere: personally I felt a bit alienated with a big display saying they support the Ten Commandments, when them listed out. Taken in context of what is being done in Texas right now, with the legislation demanding that each teacher in public schools display it, it is rather scary. Our country was based upon separation of church and state. What about people of different faiths, or non-believers? This display says to them that they are not welcome. I’m sure that may be the point, but it doesn’t make me want to return.

Ribs and chicken are always good i dont care forany of their other meats. I think the chicken plate is the best deal you get plenty of meat and sides. All of their sides are good.

We came in from North Carolina to visit my Son and his wife. I wanted some real texas brisket and bbq and this was it! Loved it. Food was great.

Door Dash delivered to our hotel. We ordered the world's smallest full rack of ribs, small size of green beans,fried cabbage and medium Mac and cheese. They forgot the soda but reimbursed us. The food was very good. No utensils, plates or napkins in bag so don't forget to ask if you don't have available. Menu said feeds 2 to 3 people. (If you've got little kids maybe.)

Extremely long wait, but worth it. Seems to be a local fave. Meat tender and tasty, potatoes nicely spiced and well cooked and beans were quite satisfactory. The plastic utensils weren't quite the best, and bent during use. Excellent BBQ sauce on the side, and I'd like a little more garlic butter on my toast as it was only in the center of the toast

The food is salty and the guy who was Caucasian was cutting the meat the wrong way Went to Soulman's today which is 01-24-2025 time 5:00pm the only thing that was good was the bake potato which I was shocked that the food came out this way because my chicken was dry and hard my pull pork was dry and as I was sitting there listening to other customers they was complaining as well they all was like give me the fat which I agree don't cut the fat from the meat many people love flavor I was so hungry I ate my toast,baked potato and the dry pull pork I didn't have a choice I was hungry and hadn't ate all day and when I received my chicken it was cut and I only received a thigh which was dry I will enclose a picture below I was still hungry I was thinking this is going to good because I always come but their was young people working and it didn't turn out as we plan so my husband and I ate what we could and left very disappointed 😔.

We got our meals to go and took them back to our hotel after the eclipse in Dallas. This is a chain, but I don't know if it extends beyond the Dallas area. There were about 15 around the city. Ribs: Spot on for me. Still some bite to them, not just falling off the bone. Perfect. Very meaty. Great smoke. Pulled pork: Really good. Can't top the ribs, but top notch flavor. Chopped Brisket: Got it chopped because my wife and I we're going back to the hotel and didn't want to have to cut anything up. It was a mistake. If you get this leave it sliced. Great flavor, but it was chopped too much and that kind of ruined the texture. Probably would have been way better more chunky. Sides Slaw: perfect for me. Just the right amount of mayo, etc. and sweetness. If you know Bob Evans, it's a lot like there's. BBQ beans: Really good. House beans: Okay, but I'd get BBQ next time. Creamed corn: Good

He also recognized we are long term patrons with Soulman's, and he remade our entire order. THANK YOU, MARTENE! 😁 UPDATE ON 6/4/22: FLIES IN FOOD and CONDIMENTS! RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! UPDATE to my former review: I want to bring to your attention an event that transpired at the Mesquite location. Check #247 was my order. The server was line cashier #2. While I placed my takeout order the staff line was aloof and the line server ignored many of my questions. She left my order exposed, and flies were in the container and on the bun. When brought to her attention, she said she only saw the flies on the bun, and would replace that only. In turn, I asked my order to be remade. She took the original order, and slammed it in the trash in frustration. I informed the cashier, and she informed the server to close the lid on the 2nd attempt. The server did not do as instructed. She also failed to include BBQ sauce on the 2nd order. The line was dirty, and the condiments (pickles, onions, etc. had flies around them). I have been a loyal patron at this location since 2016. I cater every holiday, and even spent hundreds of dollars for an graduation event for my daughter. Note: the local manager (Martene) was not on duty. The incident occurred around 8:13 p.m. on 6/4/22. My order was: (1) two meat plate, (1) half slab, and (1) pulled pork combo. Hopefully, Soulman's will speak to and properly train staff during the evening hours. The location is totally different (vibrant, friendly) in the afternoon, but changes drastically during the evening hours.

I usually get the out-of-sight special (brisket sandwich) with a potato and it's pretty good however my partner and I recently had lunch here and we both suffered extreme upset stomachs from the meat. The food was great but there were too many flies flying around. We had to switch seats to a different area of the restaurant to be able to sit & enjoy our food. There were still a couple of annoying little flies but it was much better spot.

I often judge a Bbq restaurant based on their brisket. The Brisket here is down right awful. Absolutely zero flavor and it just tastes gooey. Ribs were good, the Mac n Cheese was good, restaurant was VERY clean and the staff was friendly. I will come back and give it another shot, but this brisket needs some help.

The food was mediocre to me, but Hubby likes their baked potatoes. I had a half slab of ribs. They were lacking seasoning, dry, and very greasy. Other than the food though, the staff was very polite and helpful. The restaurant is well maintained. On the up side they do have complimentary soft serve ice cream cones for customers with a BBQ purchase😁

brisket was dry and thin I know it can be hit and miss with brisket sizes but if its no thinker than a rib eye I dont want to pay 17 bucks for a plate for it and the ribs came from a small starving animal of some kind I think this location is buying bottom dollar supplys to save money also they havent replaced the celing tiles there coated in smoke makeing them to flamiable for a comercial building my point soulmans food has allways been way better and they need to get back to quilty food

I’ve been visiting this particular restaurant for about two to three years now out of the five I’ve been living in Mesquite. The thing I’ve noticed more than anything is that this place is very hit and miss. My first visit was by far the best. I got the 3 meat plate, the quality was good and they weren’t stingy. But all subsequent visits have been disappointing. The main issue is that I’ve frequently observed that you can literally order the same thing as a Hispanic person in front of you and get less meat than them. I’ve witnessed this on several occasions where I’ve gotten my brisket (no smoke ring) and sausage sliced paper thin and the person in front of me had a very nice slice of the same thing. I’m not even gonna mention the ribs on the 3 meat plate because that in itself is just insulting. Especially if that lady is cutting up the meat then you really notice it. Normally when I see her cutting up the meat I just go somewhere else. The lack of consistency will make me eventually stop coming here and that would be unfortunate. Because I think they do have good bbq but I need consistency. In my opinion the Van, TX location is the standard.

I had to return my food because the portion size that I was given for my food looked like a child's portion. The manager on duty was rude when I called back and told him what happened. I'ma be honest guy's your potato salad was bad it had a bad taste mac and cheese was alright and meat was good but come on guy's the plate that i got was advertised for 3 people that was a total lie that plate is for 2 at best only 2 pieces of turkey and one sausage link cut to look like it was more and like 5 small pieces of sliced brisket come on guy's that's criminal for almost 40 dollars i paid. Also ordered a pecan pie slice as the owner pls eat a piece just so you can taste how bad it is like straight up even those small pies from HEB that are like 99 cents are way better i paid 5 dollars for a slice to be that bad. Come on guys y'all can surely do better i will probably never eat with y'all again but i hope y'all really improve this🤙

Ordered a half slab on 2 different occasions and became sick both times. Prices are good but not good enough to get sick over. I will never eat anything from this establishment again

I place a call in order at Soulman BBQ in Mesquite Tx. I really think they lied about their slogan We Not Stingy With our Meat" I ordered a side of sausage and a side of hotlink for 4.49 per side. 9 bucks total just for the sides. I only received 1 of the sides and was really disappointed I paid 4.49 for 4oz of hotlink. They forgot to give me my other side of sausage. I spoke with cashier Ariel who was really friendly. I called and she said I could come by or put my name on board to pick up later time. The temporary manager Roberto was there. I wish they would of offer to make it right by offering a dessert or extra sausage. I mean for 4.49 you would think I'd get a whole link. Very disappointed on the amount portion. See pictures below. I mean it fit in half a cup ??? Definitely Stingy With their meat. I got more sauce than meat. I also ordered 1/2 slab plate for 18.99 ribs were dry Soulman BBQ do better

Let me start by saying I don't know who the short women with the glasses are but she is very rude! I do door dash and I have alot of orders from their idk if it's just me but she is completely rude. if I'm telling you I have verified my order please do not get loud with me and act like you don't wanna give me the food and making it a big deal after I have showed you I have verified my order. Im not sure if she does everyone like this but this is her second time doing me like this and I don't tolerate disrespect.

Spent $71.33 for 6 thin slices of dried brisket.2 tiny dried ribs and chicken baked potato. For one to go plate and second plate had sausage slices 4, same amount of thin brisket slices and ribs . If you put them together it would make ONE regular brisket slice from RUDYS. I will NEVER WASTE MY HARD MONEY EATING THERE.
