Fabulous restaurant with attentive and pleasant staff - particularly Nikki, who made our lunch much less embarrassing after we ordered too much food! She was great about it and even got us some boxes to take the rest away in. The atmosphere is lovely and everything was clean and he flowers on the table were fresh which was a nice addition!
While visiting Tamworth, I noticed this restaurant had great reviews, so I decided to give it a try, and it truly exceeded my expectations! The restaurant's décor is stylish and comfortable, and dining outdoors on such a beautiful day was a real treat. Sunday is all about roast, so I ordered the roast beef and crispy pork belly—both were excellent! I swear it’s the best Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever had. I requested the dry aged sirloin beef to be on the pink side, and it was incredibly tender with just the right amount of fat, making it unforgettable. The crispy pork belly, with its crunchy skin and succulent layer of fat, was a guilty pleasure! Their gravy is, without a doubt, the best I’ve tasted at any restaurant. After the meal, I explored their shop, which has a lovely selection of home goods, and their farm shop, which includes a butcher and a bakery.
Our 4th visit here in Sept 2025. Lovely spacious surroundings in a complex of garden centre, farm shop, art and crafts and restaurant with outside seating available in good weather Excellent food at reasonable prices. Friendly attentive service from all staff. My only slight criticism would be that the good and comprehensive wine list is a bit more costly than some. Looking forward to another visit.
Absolutely beautiful food at the Fig & Olive. This is a real hidden treasure, set in beautiful yet casual surroundings. The Southern Fried Oyster Mushroom was gorgeous! It was well-seasoned with the flavours of Southern fried chicken and had that wonderful crunch. The belly pork with the lovely crackling, Yorkshire pud, apple sauce, roasties, and seasonal veg was a dream of a Sunday dinner. The final touch with a non-alcoholic Afogato was totally delicious. If you have never had espresso and vanilla ice cream, definitely give it a go. Plus, if you like a little bit of tipple with it, they have plenty of options! I will definitely be going again.
We were having a really lovely meal today at The Fig and Olive when one of our guests was taken unwell. The staff were incredible, especially Abigail who helped us so much and was very kind and discreet. Thank you so much Abigail! As always the food and service was lovely and we’ll be back soon.
So lovely. Food was exceptional - wife had a small plate (prawn tacos) which she said the only let down was she could have eaten it twice! I had fish and chips which was massive and so tasty. Dessert was white chocolate and strawberry Panna cotta. Not sure what we expected, but it wasn't a combination of both, instead it was a larger white chocolate one and a smaller strawberry one. - still very yum!
This was our second visit to the Fig and Olive, and we have enjoyed both family occasions. This time, it was a surprise birthday meal for my son, who had just finished his first day of six shifts. Everything about the Fig and Olive is magical, from the warm welcome, the atmosphere and the excellent food, which is well presented and delicious. It's a place easily accessible during daylight hours but at night, could be a little tricky, but the signposting on the main road from the Belfry was very helpful. There is ample parking in a well lit car park. During the daytime, there are other independent shops to purchase gifts, etc. A place worth visiting, any time of the day. More details can be found on their website, including the menus.
Best mushroom risotto I’ve tried so far. The mocktails were awesome too. Friendly and great decor and loos clean and to high standard. Celebrate my family members birthday make great memories here. Thanks
My wife & I been meaning to pay Fig&Olive a visit for years…stopped for lunch for first time last Thursday. Although no reservation & very busy with an event, they found us a lovely table & we enjoyed a fantastic impromptu lunch. Served by the very helpful & pleasant Jess H, menu looked great & food very, very good…can highly recommend Chicken shawarma flatbread, although probably horrific to watch me eat it! Restaurant a really lovely spot & the wider Coppice footprint a real gem. Can quite happily spend hours there. Will definitely be back with friends/family.
Had breakfast (the lighter English breakfast) which is definitely enough for most people. There's a slightly larger version available and costs slightly more. The quality of the food was excellent as was the service. Lovely setting and loads of good parking. Other people had the vegetarian breakfast which is large and again good quality. Just to note if not a fan of sourdough can ask for white or brown bread. We had a selection of coffees and tea which all tasted great. Would definitely recommend oh and need to book as very popular.
Amazing 🤩 One of Sutton’s best kept secrets, Have been Here over 10 times now and every time is just Great, staff are really friendly and service is super quick and the Food is always 5*. Sunday lunch is the best your Find in North Birmingham!! I have never sent the food back or complained it’s like a well oiled machine and if Rolls-Royce made Restaurants this would be there Flag Ship A * every time !!!!!
We went for my cousins birthday having never heard of it before! It was quite a way for us to drive from Rugby so the stakes were high! Wow what a fab place, we really loved it! Upmarket but really relaxed vibe, nice food, nice people and I think you get what you pay for... Toilets are nice Staff are friendly and attentive Very comfortable and cosy setting We all had the cooked breakfast and quite honestly everything on it tasted delicious 😋 My mum opted for the small veggie breakfast with halloumi which was lovely Genuinely cannot find a fault, even my husband gave it a 5! We are there from 10.30 til 1 having eaten our brunch then walked about the garden centre and incredible farm shop Breakfast, coffee and cocktail each was £25 per person
Wow!! What an amazing place!! The food is beautiful so good that I forgot to take photos and just tucked in. Amazing cocktails and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Very knowledgeable so they can recommend dishes and drinks. They even swapped some meals around for me. Can not recommend this place highly enough
Warm, cosy atmosphere. Attentive staff. Great afternoon tea service for vegetarians. Didn’t know about the 48hr pre booking that was required so it took as a while to finally make it down to Fig & Olive but after tasting the food, it all made sense. Love that it’s all ordered in. The overall venue itself is lovely with the cute shops too. Loved the experience.
Great experience from the moment walked in, staff attentive, polite, friendly & professional. Seated immediately, drinks order & meal ordered. A delicious Sunday roast, the free range chicken was so succulent, Roast potatoes spot on, the vegetables cooked to perfection, accompanied by a tasty apricot & sage stuffing. Compliments to the Chef & front of house team. Highly recommend
I can’t recommend The Fig and Olive highly enough! I’ve been a regular here for both breakfast and lunch for quite some time now, visiting with both friends and family, and it never disappoints. Breakfast is, without a doubt, my favourite time to go — their Eggs Royale is absolutely outstanding and easily the best I’ve had anywhere. The produce is always of exceptional quality, and it’s wonderful to know that much of what they use is also available to buy from their on-site farm shop, Forage. It really adds to the whole experience and is a fantastic addition to the area. In terms of the lunch menu, the Teriyaki Salmon is my absolute favourite — it’s so fresh and flavourful, and always cooked to perfection. It’s also worth mentioning I’ve tried the Winter menu too, and their Christmas Dinner was incredible! If in season, highly recommend trying that. Although breakfast can get quite busy (a testament to how good it is!), I’d definitely advise booking in advance to make sure you secure a table. If you’re looking for a spot with delicious food, top-quality ingredients, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, The Fig and Olive is truly second to none.
A little gem of a place. Great food at reasonable prices served by very friendly staff. Eating indoors or out the surroundings are special. Well worth a visit. Oh nearly forgot to mention the garden centre, helpful friendly staff the usual wide range of plants, shrubs, trees and All the things you might look for in the garden. garden.
We visited Fig & Olive in May 2021 and dined indoors. On my partner and I's arrival we were greeted by a waitress and directed towards the seating desk where we waited for someone who seemed like a manager to finish on the phone, by the time another manager had arrived and took us to our table. We (2 people) were seated on a 6 person table which did take away from the intimacy a little bit, and could have been organised differently as there were plenty of 2 and 4 person tables available. However, the waitress assigned to our table, Grace, was exceptional. We were given ample time to decide our drinks and meals but were still seen to quickly when we wanted. For our starter we shared the Camenbert which was delicious, served with individual baguettes and pickled red onion which all worked perfectly. I ordered the dry aged Sirloin steak medium-rare which was the best steak I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, every bite was smoky, rich and moist. This dish made the meal worth it. My partner had the teriyaki salmon which she enjoyed. For dessert we had the dark chocolate brownie which was delicious! Price-wise, the Fig & Olive is definetly somewhere for a special occasion, but not out of this world. I would return solely for the steak dish. This is a 5 star rating as our server Grace was a wonderful waitress and the food was excellent, however I would expect a couple to be seated on a 2 or 4 person table and for the managerial staff to be a little more polite.
Had a gorgeous meal here last night. One of my favourite restaurants. Never had a bad meal ever! I had crab as my starter and it was delicious. The presentation is always beautiful, amazing flavours, excellent choice of gins and lovely friendly staff. Cannot wait to return 😀
The food was beautiful as usual. Presented professionally and it tasted amazing. The waiter was prompt and asked regularly if everything was OK but not too often.
Loved my visit here, food was outstanding and the restaurant was stunning as well as friendly staff. There was a bit of a wait for food and drinks, so i wouldn't recommend it if you are on a tight schedule or prioritise fast service. I will definitely be coming back for lunch or brunch in the garden area
Great food and atmosphere, the staff was very welcoming and service was quick.
All good very busy so staff bit rushed . Food top quality. Do good choices of drink and none alcohol larger on tap. Ideal for driving.
Visited for the first time for lunch just before the New Year. Excellent food options, fantastic service by all the staff in particular 'Nikki'. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
Absolutely delicious! I ate one of the best salads here. Raw and roasted elements, pickles and marinated olives, sticky sweet aubergine and cauliflower with salty halloumi. I enjoyed a lemon verbena tea and took home a tirimisu cookie and a dubai cookie for later, and they were delicious.
Ive visited The Fig & Olive on several occasions and i have never been disappointed. The food has always been fantastic quality and i have to say my steak was cooked to perfection 👌 it melted in the mouth. I highly recommend The Fig & Olive for a date night, family get together or with friends. You will love it.
1st time visiting The Fig & Olive restaurant for lunch, lovley place. Slow service, not forthcoming for asking if we'd like another drink. We waited ages to pay the bill at the table, didn't realise we need to pay on our way out. Food was nice, bit pricey for what you get. We would go back again & try other menu items.
First time visiting. Both had a full English breakfast. Disappointed for the cost! Eggs so tiny they were none existent. Most of the plate is two big pieces of sour dough toast. Not value for money. At £17 each. Also; over cooked. Black pudding and bacon hard so hard it was difficult to cut. I suspect the breakfasts are pre-made and plated up to order as they arrived at the table less than 5 mins after ordering and 5 mins before our drinks. And it wasn’t hot just luke warm. Nice coffee. Orange is juice is more like orange squash! Such a shame as we wanted to enjoy our breakfast.
We met some friends here for a catch up. The location is good and the whole complex is a nice place to visit. I had the gnocchi and my partner had the burger. The gnocchi was lovely but my partner did not enjoy the burger as much. Whilst eating, staff were attentive but we had to wait a little while for the bill. I would give it another try as it seemed like a nice place.
Had high expectations and it wasn’t THAT great.. the food was nice quality, but not wow, the service was a bit slow but staff were lovely. I might go back but it’s quite pricey for what it is.
My first time to the Fig and Olive but been recommended by quite a few people at work and friends too. We decided to go here for our anniversary lunch. We chose the ploughman’s sharer to start off with. It was £18 which seemed a bit pricey but actually the quality of the food on the board was amazing. If I could make one suggestion it would be to add more than one piece of cheese each but other than that we really couldn’t fault it. We decided on light bites rather than a main as we both wanted to have dessert as well. We went for a steak ciabatta and a duck wrap. The steak ciabatta was very nice, one piece of steak was inedible due to it being mostly fat but again the rest of it was lovely. The duck wrap was nice however there seemed to be a lot more salad than there was actual duck, which was obviously a bit disappointing. For dessert we went for the Pecan tart with salted caramel ice cream (this is what a lot of people had recommended to us) and an Affogato dessert. Happy to say that the pecan tart was as good as everyone had said and the Affogato was good too. The only point that was made for the Affogato would be that one scoop of ice cream seemed to melt far too quickly after adding the espresso and shot, maybe two scoops could be put in? All in all a very nice lunch with a pleasant server who was very polite but just a 4 star from me due to a few of those little points but I’d definitely go again and hopefully get a 5 next time!
I had a surprise birthday lunch for my friend. The food was good and the service was so wonderful. We had a kid playing violin when bringing the dessert to the table. The staff was so nice and “co-operative” in order for us to bring the joy to my friend. My friend had a great time. Thank you!
Waiting 45 mins isn't the best. Clearly a very popular place which needs to be managed better to cater for diners. The food is well presented and tasty. Ideally they would have more choices for vegetarians and vegans. Not all of us like halloumi. It would be nice for service staff to check on us to see if we needed water etc.
Fabulous venue in terms of decor and atmosphere. Rock solid rice; waiting staff didn't check whether food was ok until after the meal. Apart from that food was lovely.
Great venue, excellent food, staff could do with been more attentive... chatting a lot.... had to ask them to take the sweet order & final bill ☹️ may have been a change of shift but it was not seamless. Would go go back again..yes... but please be more attentive..
Having visited the restaurant many times in the past i can only say i was disappointed today. 15 minutes before order taken, a further 25 minutes for a drink to turn up and a total of 55 minutes for food to arrive. The prices have skyrocketed - £18 for a chicken burger, which would be tastier if bought from a burger van. I cant recommend this restaurant any more :-( better service and realistic prices are a priority...... this is not central London fair or quality.
Ate here yesterday for lunch with friends, having been a number of times before. Quality of food has sadly deteriorated over time, and the service yesterday was slow and very forgetful. Looking around the room, the issue was either not enough staff, whether accidental or by design, or not enough staff and poor training. One final point, which was raised at the time but no apology given, was the size of our table. My friend booked our table at the beginning of December for 5 people. They squashed us on a table of 4 so one of us was on the end where no one should sit due to the position of the table legs and was very uncomfortable throughout. When we challenged it with our server we were simply told that there were other bigger groups in. Personally unless they had booked before us, which I find hard to believe given our table was booked in early December, we should have been guaranteed a table for the size of our group, not squashed somewhere when the restaurant had "a better offer" from a bigger party. Very disappointed and unlikely to return again.
Had afternoon tea here for 3 people on a Saturday afternoon. The food was very nice, however we felt there could’ve been more sandwiches as it was mostly sweet cakes. 1 in the party also stated they were lactose intolerant, and so they were served a Vegan option. I find this a bit disappointing as these dietary requirements are quite different, and as a result everything was vegetarian as well. As for the service, this was quite awful. We were still waiting to pay 20 mins after being given the bill, despite the restaurant being quiet. Also no plates or cups were cleared out of the way at any point, and we had to request additional cutlery and crockery for sweet/savoury, and for a nice restaurant this service feels very poor. We were also completely unaware that included you get unlimited hot and cold drinks - better customer communication is definitely needed. Overall, the service could be vastly improved for £30 per head. Nice cakes though.
A little restaurant tucked away on an estate with some small business boutiques and a garden centre, perfect for a day out with the family. The restaurant was easy to find with free parking. We had to pre-book for a late lunch. The restaurant was at the back of the estate, it was well sign posted. The atmosphere at the restaurant was lovely, the decor was tasteful, modern and the open space let in great light which was perfect for lunch. The restaurant was following covid restrictions too, so don’t forget your mask. We arrived at 2:20pm and within 20 mins had placed our lunch orders, which we went for a duck wrap, a chickpea flatbread and an extra side of nachos. As it was so late for lunch, we didn’t think we had to wait so long for it, it arrived an hour later and I was really disappointed that my duck wrap and chips was cold. We weren’t able to get the attention of the staff or get a refill of our drinks. The wrap was very average, nothing particularly exciting and tasted more like duck skin fat rather than meat. Eventually when we finished lunch, we waited a further 20 mins before I ended up approaching the counters to get service so we could vacate. As we had a little toddler who had enough. Overall I found it quite disappointing, the price for the meal was average price for lunch, but as it was cold and service was really slow. I wouldn’t come back instantly or recommend. Perhaps it’s best to come with friends for tea and a catch up, but definitely not for a drop in lunch with child.
Food was good but service very poor and took the edge off the evening. In fairness to team they advised early on there was a backlog in kitchen as they had a large party and offered free bread and olives whilst we waited to order. When we did order our starters and main came at reasonable time. But 25 mins to clear our main course plates and then we had to chase for desert menu and then chase to order and then chase bill and then go to til to pay. The place was practically empty by time we had mains and there were wait staff cleaning and laying tables so they weren’t overrun. Shame … food good.
We were given a £70 voucher for afternoon tea for two as a Christmas gift. After several attempts to reach someone to make a booking, we were eventually able to secure a table. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. Food: The portion sizes were disappointing. We were served three small sandwiches each and a very small flan, with no option to request additional savouries. While the sandwiches themselves were tasty, the quantity was not what we would expect for £70 for two people. The cakes were reasonable in amount but did not feel particularly special or reflective of the price point. Service: Service was also below the standard we anticipated. After being seated, our drinks and food arrived fairly promptly, and we were advised we could order additional tea or coffee. However, it proved very difficult to get the attention of staff. Around 45 minutes passed before we were able to make eye contact to request more drinks. After placing the order, we then had to wait approximately 25 minutes and remind staff, as the drinks had not arrived. At no point were we checked on or asked whether everything was satisfactory. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Given the cost — particularly as no alcohol was included — we expected a higher standard in both quantity and service. We have enjoyed many afternoon teas elsewhere and feel this did not represent good value for money. I hope this review is taken as constructive feedback. Had we been asked during the visit whether everything was satisfactory, we would have raised our concerns at the time, but unfortunately we were not given that opportunity.
Need to do better..Visited Saturday 4/10/25. I had the warm salmon salad with Nicose potatoes. It should have included capers, but didn't. I had to ask for some to be brought to me. When I did get some in a small dish they looked dried and were tasteless! The meal was quite nice but one measley piece of salmon. Desert. A sponge with plum something else. Clearly microwaved. Should have been 'clotted cream' ice cream I think the cream must have evaporated as tasted cheap. That meal came to £28 (no drinks just water). Certainly not value for money! Quite a noisy atmosphere. Service not too bad. Will we return? Hell no, they ain't having my hard earned cash again!
Drive past a few times now and i was curious to see what it was like inside to bring the family. Looks great inside. Asked waitress if they had a takeaway menu which i know is rare. I wasnt sure if the menu changed frequently/seasonally. Waitress said no, i asked it was online and told no again then when i asked if you do serve food i was told no again. Not sure i was welcome after that so said thanks and left. Doubt i will be back after that experience which is a shame as the online menus look good.
There is a really good selection for food options, even for vegans. But the flavors aren’t very strong-it’s a bit bland tasting to me. I had the celeriac burger (£13.50) which is literally roasted slice of celeriac and salad in a bun and there just wasn’t any distinctive flavor to it. We also had the Buddha bowl- again no flavors that really pop out. Service is excellent- servers are attentive and helpful. Even when we asked a different server for something they provided it (whereas at some restaurants the server will say you’re not at their table). The venue is lovely, great atmosphere, you can sit inside or outside but either way there’s excellent ventilation and sunlight and you can do some shopping in the garden centre or visit the spa attached. It’s also nice to be out in the countryside. For me the low score is because the food needs more flavor to warrant another visit.
Firstly, the service was dreadful from the get go. Waitress was very rude and blunt. Not looked after as expected, granted that the manager was also involved in taking our order (incorrectly, on two counts). It did dampen our evenings and made the atmosphere feel unwelcoming. Secondly, food was dreadful and lacking in flavour. Unsure why this was the case as reviews seemed promising. However, we ordered: the pan seared sea bass, which was mediocre at best; the oyster mushroom burger, dire flavour and poorly executed; beef burger, despite ordering the buttermilk chicken burger; finally, the lamb chop from the specials menu, and there was nothing special about the dish, except being specially cold and unfulfilling. Additionally, we ordered two coronas, and two peronis came. Thirdly, it was truly disappointment after disappointment. I do not know whether it is a ‘one off’, though I do not believe the entire staff from kitchen to waitress to the manager who took our order, are truly that uninspiring and inexperienced. Before our experience at the Fig & Olive, we had never left a restaurant unsatisfied to the point of writing a negative review. I do hope this review is utilised in a manner to inform and constructively critique the service, food, and atmosphere.
Firstly I'd like to say as a family we regularly visit. But unfortunately this Monday I personally had to change the chicken burger twice and both times the quality was inedible & have been unwell since. If i were to constructively criticise, I would most definitely look and your meat & fish quality. On another note perhaps change the menu slightly for more vegetarian choices that arent just mushroom or butternut squash.
Lovely food, can’t fault the food. Service was awful, took 20 minutes to get our first drink ( there was only two of us) and we had to ask 3 different people for some tap water, we were waiting around 40 minutes for tap water. Waitresses walked past our empty plates over and over ignoring them. Customer service goods to be majorly improved!
