Kerri and Carlos were phenomenal! These two know what hospitality means and provided us an amazing experience. Some of our party were first timers here at Cattle Barron and they were very pleased witht the food, salad bar, and experience. We cannot express enough how much we appreciate our service and time here at Cattle Barrons.
My family and I were visiting the area in June of 2018. Our son was stationed there at the time and we were visiting him before his deployment. We chose the Cattle Baron b/c it was in close proximity to the hotel we were staying in at that particular time. Upon entering the establishment, I observed that is was beautiful, clean and well-organized, plus the A I saw on the wall was a great comfort too lol. The hostess at the front was very friendly and helpful. The waitress for our table was named Martha and she was just as friendly as the hostess. She was genuinely very attentive to us all, and checked on us periodically to see if we needed anything and was always willing to help. You could see that she really loved her job. My older son, his girlfriend and my younger son ordered steaks, my husband ordered fish and ordered the Cajun Chicken Alfredo. The food was GREAT!! We were all well-satisfied with the quality and the serving amount of the food😋. I could not finish my meal, so they let me take the rest in a to-go plate. My overall experience at this eatery was a wonderful one and also one I will never forget. Friendly service and good food go hand-in-hand. I’d rate it ten stars if I could. Keep doing what y’all do!!
This place is great all the time, service and food. The meal comes with a huge salad bar and a variety of veggies and pasta to choose from. The warm bread that comes before the meal is home made and fresh. I don't know why the closed the far east location maybe bc people didn't know how good of a place it was.
My coworker and I stayed in a hotel nearby and walked over here to eat. We liked it so much the first day we ended up coming back every night for dinner for 7 nights lol. The steaks are great and consistent. I really liked the ribeye with the butter and Parmesan. Our waitress Charlie pretty much had our order memorized because she saw us so often. The salad bar was also good with a lot of toppings and a different soup each night which was also always very good.
A great western themed restaurant wirh a bar. The staff are amazing. The salad bar is probably the best in El Paso.
Went in for drinks and salad bar. Had great service from the bartender and the salad bar was awesome.
Cattle Baron in El Paso is excellent. Their meat is of an excellent quality. Great Flavor. Very Tender. Veggies also high standard. Everything freshly cooked. Their salad Bar is unbeatable. Service also 5 star. Thank you Shane.
Service was great I had the Chicken Fried Steak and my wife had the Shrimp Alfredo - both dishes were outstanding
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Cattle Baron in El Paso! The buffet was excellent—especially the fresh salad bar and the selection of delicious desserts. Their steaks were phenomenal—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The service was just as impressive: attentive, friendly, and professional from start to finish. Whether you’re in the mood for a juicy steak or a light meal with sweet treats, Cattle Baron is a must-visit. Highly recommend!
I've never had anything but a wonderful experience here over the past 20 years. The soup and salad bar is a meal alone, but even more wonderful when paired with a perfectly cooked steak.
The service was very good, our server was very attentive and took great care of us. We didn't have to look around for him and ask for refills, when our appetizers arrived he brought the warm bread with butter and when our meal arrived he brought us some more without us having to ask. The kitchen staff did an excellent job on my New York strip....a perfect med. And for my wife medium well...it was a little over cooked for me but perfect for her. And to finish it off we got some coffee with some chocolate mousse and zucchini bread...the coffee was excellent....great flavor and it wasn't old bottom of the pot coffee which happens a lot at restaurants when it's not breakfast time. Overall great visit.
Tonight I went in for pickup order and while I waited I got myself the salad bar. I had a very sweet waitress named Kris she was extremely sweet and caring and double-checked that everything came out right and showed all of my food to me before she packaged it. I got to have really nice conversations with her and saw how well she cared for each of her tables she definitely helped make this experience at 10 out of 10. Thank you very much Miss Kristina I hope you and your dogs are well
Dasha was very attentive and friendly. I wasn’t very hungry and had the salad bar and soup. The enchilada soup was good. Homemade legit good. Not fancy. Nice and brothy. The potato soup was nice too. The salad bar was fresh and bigger than expected for El Paso next to the airport. The green chile won tons were great. The dipping sauce that came out made the dish. I can’t speak to the steaks.
My very first time in Texas, my 1st meal in Texas, was from Cattle Barron El Paso (to go order). 1st and foremost, Charly is amazing! She's like that favorite aunt you only see on holidays, therefore you can't wait until the next holiday! Her demeanor on the phone, then in person was beyond warm and welcoming, but truly appreciated!! The Grilled Sirloin Salad was awesome, and her recommendation for the house made smoked vinegarette was on point. She made sure to ask about bread...of course I want the bread!! Awesome also!! My trick for jetlag is mashed potatoes, don't ask me why, it's just what I do, and those were also perfect! I will definitely come here again, hopefully for a longer stay so I can try the Prime Rib, eat at the bar where Charly is at, and get to know more about El Paso (and it didn't break the bank or my per diem!!)
"I love Cattle Baron salad bar" - Wife. The salad bar even had posole! Ngl the ribeye was succulent & I left full. I had the opportunity to try the ribeye, fried shrimp, prime rib, salad bar, onion rings, and the fried cheese sticks. Everything was great and the only complaint is the bread knife needed sharpening.
Food is always good service was a bit slow when we were first sat down but got better as the dinner went on.
Seated quickly, staff was friendly and very attentive to our parties needs. Atmosphere was accommodating and well furnished with a good noise level. Facilities were sanitary and monitored for cleanliness. Overall a good experience. I had the prime rib (Med Rare) 30$, would recommend.
Great spot! I get cravings for grilled chicken when I travel. This place did not disappoint. It is so fresh, made to order, and flavorful. I was very very happy with my Rio Pollo. The bread and butter were just okay. I didn’t have the urge to overstuff myself with bread. The service is awesome too. They are attentive without being overbearing.
This is one of the most delicious chicken fried steak I have had in a long time. Our server Jessica was amazing. The salad bar was delicious as well. I normally do not get the salad bar addition but this was could not be passed. The beer selection was ok, no hazy IPA's. The draft Dos XX was surprisingly good. I recomend this establishment for dinner.
Ordered the prime rib, it was delicious. Also had soup and salad bar. Everything was fresh. Our waiter John, was friendly, very attentive and extremely efficient. The salad bar had a nice selection of veggies and salads and dessert items. I love the fresh bread they serve. All the staff here is friendly and helpful.
Visiting El Paso for work, this place was across the street from my Marriot Hotel. Amazing waiting staff. Very nice, very professional. One of the best salad bars I've ever had. Amazing corn chowder. Great steaks for the price. Very clean with a nice Western themed atmosphere. So good I came back to back nights.
Stopped by for dinner solo today. There was no wait, and the service was excellent and attentive. For dinner, I had their 14 oz rib eye, loaded potato, jalapeño margaritas, and their green chili wontons. The ribeye was cooked and seasoned to perfection, I ate ALL of my loaded potato, and the wontons were delicious with both the ranch and the Thai sauce they provided.
Excellent experience. Had a group of 10 coworkers meet here for dinner while traveling. We stopped around 7pm on a Thursday evening. Excellent service and food. Our team had, drinks, steak, chicken, burgers, salad bar, soup, and more. Everything turned out great! Definitely recommend.
Our server was Carlos, we had a group of 11 and he was beyond amazing! We constantly had refills, fresh bread, and anything we needed. He made sure to ask us how everything was multiple times, and accommodated our needs all while being super patient considering we had 5 children under age 10. One of the best servers I’ve ever had, was the perfect ending to my birthday! Would definitely go again just because of the service alone. The food was also great, and the atmosphere was fantastic.
I was there yesterday with a family group to celebrate birthdays. Our server was Jorge, and he was excellent! He was polite, professional and took care of us smoothly & perfectly. Our food was very good, also. I had the soup & salad bar, and it was fresh & delicious as always. My husband had the prime rib & loaded baked potato. He really enjoyed his meal, too. Everyone in our party was happy with the service and our food. Good job, Cattle Baron! 👍😊
With Cattle Barron, I can count on a consistent experience whether in El Paso, Las Cruces or Hobbs, the three locations I know. I usually go for prime rib. I don't have a big appetite, so I like their small options for their prime rib and steaks. I'm also a soup person, and the salad bar usually has two, so salad bar as a side is a good idea. House wines are affordable by the glass. Fresh bread.
Wonderfully fresh salad bar! Both the cream of potato soup and posole were delightful additions. Had the jalapeño rotisserie chicken... the chicken was moist and cooked well, but really no spice to the gravy. I ordered a side of jalapeño toriados (a bit pricy of $6 in my opinion). The boys had a burger, they said was "pretty good". Salad bar really is enough, don't really need more than that!
I googled places to eat and this spot showed up. I decided to give it a try, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the pork ribs (delicious!) and added the salad, which was unlimited — a great bonus! The staff was attentive and helpful. Javier helped me out at first, and then Carlos took over; he took great care of me. Overall, great food and atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!
Appetizers were amazing, mainly the Mozzarella sticks. Shrimp was great, a little under seasoned, but huge.. none of that extra breading you usually get at other places Steak was amazing, but I wasn't a big fan of the mash potatoes. I loved the fact that they served Crafts Mac&Cheese. Chicken strips were fine, fries were better! Fried Ice cream was really good but too much for one person We didn’t like the cheesecake.
The salad bar alone is worth going to The Cattle Baron; it is the best I've seen anywhere. But everything else is great also. Always a favorite of ours! So sad ours closed during the pandemic. Still waiting for it to reopen in Lubbock. I always stop in another city if they have one; always!
Spending New Year's in El Paso, I was doubtful there will be any restaurants available but I was wrong and the start to the new year couldn't have been any better. The service was excellent from start to finish. It was a little surprise and amusement for us, when all three of us got asked for our IDs when together our ages combined make 170 years. Company policy. As an appetizer, we ordered the wontons and they were delicious. Crunchy, tasty and in combination with the chili sauce! The guys ordered prime rib, of course and I went for a cliche steak salad. The steak was deliciously juicy and tender to be fair. The salad was a little bit too much swimming in a pond of dressing. We also thoroughly enjoyed the salad bar. No space for dessert, but I'm sure we all secretly regretted it.
The salad bar is a standout here! Fresh, diverse ingredients and light dressings make it a refreshing surprise. It even outshone the steak for me. For expats missing fresh greens, this is a must-try. The steak was decent, but it was quite ordinary and didn't leave a memorable taste. The bread was a bit disappointing; dry and hard. Perhaps we're just used to the richer, buttery taste of American bread.
So delicious! I ordered the rib plate with a loaded baked potato. I also added the unlimited soup and salad. The service is excellent! The staff was very friendly and the environment is very welcoming. I’ll definitely be back and I recommend everyone to check it out at least one time, you won’t be disappointed!
Great service (Kristina), food, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The appetizers were delicious and were very well presented (green chili wontons, potato skins, bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp). Pecan pie is a must, and the cheesecake was delicious! The steaks were well worth the visit. Our server, Kristina was very kind and attentive, the whole staff was great! Definitely well worth it!
Went for dinner, had about a 20-25 min wait. At the large salad bar they have disposable gloves for customers to use while making their salad plates. My wife and I ordered steaks of course, both came out properly cooked and seasoned well. We splurged on the triple layer chocolate cake. The cake was rich and chocolatey and came with 2 good sized scoops of vanilla ice cream. The waitress was nice and kept the drinks refilled. Overall a good dinner and will go back.
It's a nice restaurant. The salad bar is very impressive, and we'll definitely come back just for that. I had to send my steak back, as did one of my companions, so I think the chef of the night wasn't very good at getting temperatures right. However, the service was beyond excellent, and not only was our waitress very helpful, but the manager took very good care of us.
I started with there sampler. The green chille wonton were not bad definitely diffrent. The shrimp and Mozzarella sticks were basic. I really like the bread it was hot and fresh. I got the catfish blacken as my main dish with loaded red mashed potatoes. It was delicious plent of seasoning. I get fried icecream when ever they have it on the menu. This was the the worst one I have ever had there was oil on my plate and the shell if u call it that was either rock hard almost Broke my tooth or completely mush. The ice-cream wasn't ever the vanilla bean to make up for it. They do have a big salad bar that look really well put together.
The food was good and the bread was delicious. The salad bar was nice because they also have fruit and sweets. The service was nice. The only problem was that the old fashion was not that good :( the bathroom was very clean but they had that cheap generic soap that leaves your hands smelling like oil. So as I ate my delicious steak my hands smelled like oil mixed with soap.
The most different thing about Cattle Baron is their Salad Bar, makes it like a family type of place, and in fact, it is layouted in the way perfect for family and friends gathering. Salad bar provides the variety of vegetables you need; ranch, thousand-island, honey mustard, ...... all types of sauces you name it. For meat, I ordered their Prime Rib, 16oz, medium rare, sided with grilled sweet potato (cinnamon butter on top), probably the best Prime Rib I've ever had.
I like Cattle Barron, I don't understand why the one on the eastside closed. Catfish is good, Chicken Fried steak is good. The salad bar is good. you should go. Its a good place
Feb 2, 2025 @5 p.m. I've been here many times before and i usually order the Chopped Steak. Gor me, I feel as if the stake size got smaller and smaller, but today was alot bigger. My family ordered different things and our food had never been more delicious. A well done steak was juicy and so was the chicken!! 10/10
Those bacon wrapped shrimp 🥰🥰🥰those are a must! Bread had good texture. Ribeye was good. Do yourself a favor and get the peppered flavoring on it. Pay the extra $3! So worth it! I ordered mushrooms, they could have been cooked a little bit longer. Mashed potatoes had a good peppered gravy. Our waiter, John Paul, was excellent. He came and checked frequently with us. I gave it a 4 stars because the steak was good but I wanted just a little more from the flavoring and I was sad about the mushrooms. Overall, I would go back again and looking forward to my next visit!
So thought this place was going to be good. Looks great , huge salad bar , ordered a sirloin steak salad the steak was super tough , we not worth what I paid , over all a good night , server was good , wanted my soup to come out before dinner but all came out at the same time. It’s ok things happen.
Went here with friends for dinner. Walking distance from airport hotels. The salad bar was huge and interesting and clean and produce/vegetables were fresh. Tastiest Ranch dressing I have ever had! I also ordered the chicken Alfredo. All of it pretty good. You also get free freshly baked bread with butter. Some of my friends had complaints about items on the salad bar (Jello was super sweet, hard to reach the center for items even though the tongs are 20" long, sprouts tasted moldy, etc). It was a busy night but service was poor. Our server was very nice but her attention to detail or maybe her memory was lacking. For example a friend ordered a burger (which looked amazing!) and wanted ketchup and mustard. We had to ask 3 times for the mustard with long gaps of time in between. Same thing when we wanted the bill but couldn't find her. We tried to flag down other staff but no luck. We collectively observed a whole collection of servers hoovering around an order station. Not ordering stuff. Just standing around. Was there a house manager on hand? This place has a good reputation and good food. Maybe more involved management would cure the server issues?
This steak restaurant is huge with a well rounded salad bar. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, 5:00’ish, without a reservation. It was pretty quiet, not busy at all so we didn’t have to wait to be seated or served. Our server was pleasant and friendly and suggested the green chili wontons (very tasty). Hubby had the chopped steak and I had prime rib. The steak was delish but the prime rib was a little chewy. Overall not bad, we will probably come back.
From out of town and wanted prime rib. It was great, and at a decent price. However when we decided to get desert we chose the fried ice cream. It was not pleasant at all. It seemed stail; like the cornflakes used had no crunch. Wasn't good at all. Customer service was excellent however. Good experience overall.
The meal provided was a truly delightful experience, offering delicious flavors. The service received was outstanding, with the server demonstrating exceptional attentiveness. It was a joy to experience such a high level of care and consideration. The gesture of singing a happy birthday was a heartwarming touch to the celebration. It was a memorable occasion overall.
The service and atmosphere are great, the food however was ok. I don't know if I would come here again.
Place has an excellent salad bar but the ribeye steak was a really then cut and lack of flavor. Very friendly service though.
Atmosphere was fine, our waiter was great. Food was pretty average which doesn't make sense considering the pricing. The salad bar was pretty blank flavor wise. The onion rings were inedible with the amount of grease.
I ordered the Ribeye and it was just okay. Not a good crust on it but it was cooked well. Service was good and the place was packed.
Meh... Steak was cooked perfectly as far as temperature. No seasoning whatsoever. Rice pilaf was under done and also bland. Service was slow. Overall Meh... wouldn't eat here again.
Our server Shane was good. Interacted with my group quite a bit. Kept up the drinks made jokes etc. The food was okay. Nit the greatest not the worst. Started with the green chilli wantons, although they were different there just wasn't much depth of flavor to the filling. The Thai dip was okay as well. Also got the 14oz ribeye. It was cooked to my liking, had a nice crust but it was just bland to me. The baked potato you could tell it had been sitting in or on a warmer for awhile. It was super dry. The butter and sour cream made up for it. Added some salt and pepper that was about it. Overall could have been better. Not worth the price.
Food was horrible and it was 8 of us that ordered 8 different things and all was bad. We went for my Daughter’s birthday. Service was good waiter was attentive and nice and efficient that’s why 3 stars but we are not going back even though the place looks nice and the salad bad was ok.
Went here recently. The food was great and it came quickly. The reason I didn't leave 5 stars was because our waitress never came to offer refills until I was finished with my food. She was prioritizing another table that had a bunch of older men who I assume she thought would leave a better tip. I am always a generous tipper when the service is great. I will be speaking with management about it.
Cattle Baron has been one of my go to steak places for years. Great menu selection and probably the best salad bar around. However our new years family dinner was okay but the service was awful. No bread, no refills and portions are getting smaller. We have been coming here for years, very disappointing 😞
Their computers and card reader were down. The people close by were very noisy and it got worse with mixed drinks. My stake was smaller but t ok! I won’t go back unless invited by friends!! You decide! David
This restaurant is located near the airport. It has a nice ambience. The service was ok, the food however was not. This restaurant used to serve good steaks, but obviously thats not the case anymore. The waitress tried to sell me a ribeye steak for a sirloin. Most of the steaks our group ordered were not cooked to order. And the worst part was the quality of the meat. This place is way to expensive for the type of food they offer. All in all, a bad performance. Sorry. Based on the experience on that day, i cannot recommend this place anymore.
I give this surf and turf food 2 stars. As a Texas native who travels all over the state, and looks forward to eating a good steak and seafood. Now for my personal review. The choice of drinks is great they even have different types of water. I chose the mineral water. The salad bar is fantastic with a good selection, so good that you cannot reach some items in the middle which cause cross contamination to other items (I didnt mind but someone probably does). Only thing missing was fresh pickles and boiled eggs. The small round sweet peppers was my personal favorite of the night! I ordered a sample platter for the appetizer which had fried small shrimp which was very crunchy and good. Mozzarella sticks were super cheesy and wantons. The appetizers in all were mediocre and one could have ordered at the Applebee's across the street with same end result. NOW FOR THE STEAK! I ordered the 14oz ribeye medium rare with the steak topping options of Peppered and Sautéed Mushrooms. The Peppered was a bad choice the green peppercorn compound butter was overly salty and tasted and resembled too much like gravy. I believe it would have possibly gone better on a pork chop. The mushrooms I cannot comment on because the green pepper sauce over powered the steak. I did manage to find a peice of steak that was plain and it tasted okay and these cooks here I can tell take pride in their peppercorns. Overall: The waitress expressed her concern by giving us a DO NOT EAT recommendation, which is always terrible for business but at least she was honest and a friendly waitress that should probably hold her tongue more often. To me it sounded like the chefs only know how to cook a steak plain. If anyone is looking for a nice atmosphere, fairly priced, mediocre steak with a great salad bar this is the place to go. I am sure there is other items on this menu that would have been a way better choice for me get. Quite possibly the prime rib or chicken fried chicken?
That 1/2 Rio jalapeños chicken is a pigeon...the mashed potatoes tasted watery. The onion rings weren't rings at all just a.bunch of pieces...terrible really 😳 but the salad bar is great....no good not great been there twice..my first time and my last time...ty kindly
Service good, steak was horrible, ordered medium, was rare, NY strip had a fat streak running down middle, grizzle and fat not rendered at all, made the steak nearly un eatable. Lesson learned, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else.
Went to dinner with my family. The server never brought us the fresh bread as they always do. Also server seemed to forget about us as he was always running to serve what seemed like everyone else. Noticed he would carry a bucket and wipe down tables/chairs and would not wash his hands to serve foods. He had to be reminded to refill our drinks every time (tea's and water) then would spill drinks on table as he is refilling and not bring napkins to wipe down. Potatoe wedge appetizers came to our table slightly burned. Then Food came cold after I asked him what happened to our order twice. Another plate, items was missing as the menu showed the plate to have more items. Then I wanted to leave a small tip for the bad service, but could not because there new system to charge cards only shows tip amount of 18, 20, 22 percent. They hold the tablet in front of your face and stare down at you to leave them a good tip for horrible service. As we walked out, I wanted to confront the manager that was standing and flirting with front greeting girl, however they both disappeared. So I say, stay away from this restaurant and go to other steak houses that will serve you better, will have food that is not cold and have better servers.
Our first and likely last visit to Cattle Baron was unfortunately a significant letdown, primarily due to disorganized service, cheap utensils, and utterly underwhelming food that certainly didn't justify the price tag. From the moment we were seated, it was clear that the staff was struggling to keep things together. Our server seemed overwhelmed and inattentive, leading to long waits for everything from drink orders to our main courses. It felt like there was no coordination, with different staff members occasionally checking in without a clear understanding of what had already been addressed. This disorganization created a frustrating and disjointed dining experience. Adding to the disappointment was the surprisingly cheap silverware. For a restaurant that positions itself as a quality steakhouse, flimsy and lightweight cutlery really detracted from the overall impression and made the meal feel less special than it should have been. However, the biggest letdown was undoubtedly the food itself. We paid a premium, expecting a memorable meal, but what we received was bland and uninspired. The flavors were muted, and the dishes lacked the quality and refinement one would expect for the prices charged. It was truly underwhelming, and we left feeling as though we had paid far too much for such a mediocre culinary experience. Given the poor and unorganized service, the cheap utensils, and the exceedingly average food for the price, I cannot recommend Cattle Baron. There are far better options available for those seeking a quality dining experience in El Paso.
I have eaten here over 30 times in the last three months. The food is good, but the tables are disgusting and so is the salad bar. I even asked them about the tables and the manager told me it’s the varnish on the tables. Every table in the restaurant is sticky. This is the last straw for me. I will not be back!
It was my first time coming here and I will not be back. The hostess was nice but after that I was all not so good. Service was ok the older man that waited on us wasn't rude but he was just ok. You could tell he didn't want to be there. The food was bland and had no taste to me. My husband ordered a 10oz steak and he got half of it in fat. Food was tasteless. The salad bar was not so good and the cucumbers were old and very sour. Overall I wouldn't recommend. It was a waste of $80.00 for sure.
Service was ok an yet the application used to pay does not give you the option to select 15% for tip. Since when did at least an 18% become mandatory. Also their portions are becoming smaller. My crispy chicken salad used to be very generous (sometimes I couldn’t finish it) now not only did it go from 11.95 to 16.95 (30% increase) but was left hungry. Had to get a salad bar. Not coming back any time soon.
I went to Cattle Baron today and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience with the food. I ordered the Rio Pollo and it came out extremely salty — honestly inedible. I sent it back, and when it returned, it was just as salty as the first time. What really bothered me was how the situation was handled by the manager on duty. She explained that the recipe had been changed, but there was no real apology and I was never asked if I wanted to order something else. After having to send the same dish back twice, not being offered an alternative felt very unprofessional and just basic common sense. I do want to recognize Angela and Valerie because they were amazing. They were kind, apologetic, and genuinely tried to make things right, which I truly appreciated. In the end, I didn’t eat a main course and only had the salad bar. I’m willing to give Cattle Baron another try in a couple of months, but today’s experience — especially the way it was handled — was a letdown.
Wow, this place is not it. The steak was not good at all. It almost felt like a fake piece of meat. So dry and rough. Gum was more tender than this place. It was 6 of us and all the steaks were bad. The table bread is dry and cold. I think the only good thing was the crisp sprite. I’ll never go here again. The place seemed clean that’s why I gave it 2 stars. But food is just not up to their pricey level.
The food was the worst I’ve ever had. Not to mention they don’t even offer military discount not even on Veterans Day, we could have had better food quality and a military discount at jack in the box. Also the server was extremely unprofessional. Usually it’s 1 thing but everything was terrible here. The food and the service! Waste of money for sure.
