This place stands out in the crowded Vietnamese food scene that is California. It is simply one of the best pho restaurants in the country and one of the top in the world. The broth is authentic and perfectly flavored. It is also one of the few places which still serves traditional Vietnamese dessert drinks such as three color drink, mung bean and red bean with coconut milk; many other places have succumbed to the ubiquitous tapioca drinks, a wonderful concoction in it's own right but it is NOT Vietnamese.
There are too many phos around the bay area, I haven't tried all of them but most. There are also many phos near me but I drive 20mins to here, that's how good this place is. Ingredients are fresh, it's not overly salty, tastes great and portion is large. I'm 6'2 260lbs and I can't even finish a large bowl. The spring rolls are fresh and tasty, service is super fast too. This is prob not the quote on quote best pho in bay area, but for the price is simply unbeatable.
Just found this Vietnamese pho and rice restaurant. Prices are reasonable and food is good. No complaints. Coworker didn't like the beef stew because of the part of the beef that was used very dark and dense not very appetizing.
Their foods have good quality and quantity, especially the beef noodles, seafood noodles , broken rice.
Every time I drive by Milpitas near meal time, I have to think, should I stop and get some Pho Nguyen. Eating there is great (service responsive, clean) but I rarely get the chance to eat there. Their portions are HUGE. For Pho #1 is great, pay extra and get flat noodles. Few.palces make "B-own Real", a seafood egg brothy thing which is also highly recommended. Enjoy
I always love this place. The broth is satisfying clear and the aroma is heart warning. The owner is an uncle figure kind of friendly. Small size bowl is large enough for average Asian people 🙂.
My wife had some ox tail bun bo hue here and it was really good. I know it is not as authentic to not have the pig hocks l, but the flavors were good and I preferred the ox tail. The chicken wings were also really good. The servers were nice and attentive.
I tried there pho soup number one. It was very yummy. Lots of noodles and the broth was good. My boyfriend got the lemongrass chicken rice plate. The chicken had lots of flavor and was cooked well, it was juicy not dry at all. Would definitely go back to try there special oxtail soup.
Quick super tasty food. If you are hungry and got no time. Just come here. Quicker service than typical fast food. But still fresh food. Better to drop money in local place. Also when the menu says large, it is large.
My mom's pho will always be my favorite but when she's not cooking or I have a craving, this is my go to place. I live in SF where the Vietnamese food is still subpar but my parents live in Milpitas. They serve generous portions and do not cheat you out of all the good veggies and herbs too. Very clean and quick service.
Came for hot noodle soup during a cold day. One of my favorites is their #32 My Tho Seafood and Pork Noodles. The broth is delicious. The seafood and ground pork go well together. Everything is delicious and I like changing my noodles to clear noodles. My friend got the House Special Beef noodle soup and she told me it's good.. The spring rolls are fresh and I like it that they give you separate little containers for sauce for each of us. The side of egg cake is tasty too. This place is clean with simple decor. Service is decent and food come out fast. The guy who works at the cashier is very friendly and nice. If you come during peak lunch hour, parking can be crazy and a bit challenging. It shares the same complex and Grocery Outlet and a few other restaurants. You may have to park further away in the parking lot and walk to the restaurant.
Their pho taste good. Service is good and quick. Food being serviced within 5 mins of ordering ! Will definitely be back.
Food: The best Vietnamese place around the area. I’ve been here more than 3 times and will definitely come back for more! The Bun is very filling as the restaurant is very generous with the toppings. Service: regular viet place standard; pay at the cashier! Ambiance: Casual and homey
The amount of the pho served in this Vietnamese restaurant is awesome for the large size portion at a price of $16. However, the soup base is a bit on the thin side and not as flavorful as expected. The other side dishes are also good.
I discovered this gem last year, and I've been coming and have tried several dishes, I gotta say it hasn't disappoint. I highly recommend their egg rolls, any pho really, and vermicelli bowls 🔥 also, their spring rolls and wonton soup are amazing. I'll definitely be coming back for more. If you love Vietnamese food, you gotta give it a try.
The location is conveniently located off 880/Calaveras Blvd. The Pho is really good and the portions are pretty decent in relation to price. You’d spend anywhere from $20-$30 per person. Restrooms are all gender and are ADA compliant. There is a lot of parking but can be hard to find a spot depending on the day or hour you come in. Overall, a pretty good experience
Good place for lunch. Reasonable price for pho. The rare beef is tender. So good. The noddles are too soft. Wish they can make them a little bit hard. The big size bowl has best value. $10 or more for using credit card.
Big portions, fast service and very friendly. Outdoor seating available and dog friendly! Bass fish noodle soup was simple and unique, grill shrimp, pork and egg roll with noodle was delicious! Love the avocado smoothie!
I ordered online through Door Dash, so I can not rate Service or Atmosphere. But, if their food represents their actual restuarant then it's off the hook. This place gives you the best of the best of the bay area if not America. Huge portions of everything and cooked so damn good. I had the deep fried rolls, spring rolls and rare steak PHO. I was raised eating PHO. My best friend was Vietnamese and his mother cooked it for us when I was a kid. It was awesome. This place reminds me of that. I travel the world and have many posts of food. I give this restuarant my stamp of approval. 5 out of 5! Good job PHO Nguyen! I will definitely return and can't wait.
No. 1 best Vietnamese noodle in town. Any time when my family is in town in Milpitas, we would always love to go to this authentic Vietnamese noodle restaurant for a great hot beef soup. Always our first choice & best noodle restaurant in town
I haven’t been in this location for a few years, but this is a good place to stop by and get Pho especially during lunch since their service is really fast. I am quite surprised about it because I thought they would take longer to prepare my food. I wanted to eat one of their rice plates, but I haven’t had Pho for a while. I grew up eating rice anyways haha. Pho is really good, but I put all jalapeños inside it and it was very spicy. Also appreciate the staff for cleaning up the tables after people left the tables.

One of the best pho in South bay. Soup is always hot and delicious. Very satisfying. We don't mind driving for 20 min just to have their pho. My favorites are their bun rieu, bun ba hue and all their beef pho. The place is clean and the staff is friendly.

The bun thit nuong here is delicious and the price is reasonable. I would recommend this location than pho now for their bun thit nuong.
At first, I was taken aback from the pho price. I felt $18 plus $3 for meatballs was crazy, especially when $13/14 bowls close by still exists. To my surprise, the meat taste amd texture was amazing! Almost felt like they were using ribeye and/or prime cuts! The meat balls were tasty and bouncy too! Worth every penny. The service is also on point. Not sure if they are family run, but my order was taken by (what I felt was my) grandma with a young gentleman constantly checking in on me. Also, they have fantastic tasting tea! I wish I drank that first instead of downing my soup which taste good as well. Not often in the area, but will certainly make an effort to come back and try other things on their menu
My husband and I have been looking for a good pho spot because we had a tried a few others that we both agreed we would not be returning to and our son mentioned he and his gf come to this spot. Upon entering, we were kindly greeted and immediately seated. They brought hot tea and water before ordering. A very nice guy approached us and took our order. My husband had a few questions that he politely answered and said “we can definitely customize your order.” Perfect —> we placed our Pho 🍜 order as well as some egg rolls that not to mention were made PERFECTLY! They were very fresh and crunchy. Please believe they do not hold back on the portions. I thought my “Small” bowl was a large and my husband’s large bowl was a jumbo 😂The price is very reasonable for the amount of food. I HIGHLY recommend them and we will be returning soon. Thank you for a delicious meal on a cold day!

It's hard to stand out in South Bay as a Vietnamese restaurant. Pho Nguyen has a few things going for it. It's clean. The service is nice and the food is quite good. Ox tail seems to be a specialty here. I tried bun bo hue with ox tails. It's pretty tasty with good serving size. My daughter tried bun with grilled pork. The meat was tasty too. My wife tried the traditional pho. It's good. One thing you can tell if the pho is good is if the side of the raw bean sprouts and basil leaves are fresh. And they are here. Good place. Recommend!
First time here. It was on the way home from our daughters dance competition. Pho was good, meat taste fresh and portion size was better than others. Friendly staff made it more enjoyable. If in the area again, will definitely stop by.
Consistent quality & quick service. Good for kids & groups. One of the few pho joints that offers dried or fresh noodles in your noodle soup; extra money for fresh, of course. Tried fresh once, but I couldn't tell the difference, taste or texture wise. Maybe fresh has no preservatives? Update, 2/1/17: 1st time back in 3 months and prices have gone up. Still a great value for the quality. 2 large pho tai with extra noodles, 2 drinks and a self-service lettuce wrap plate with grilled shrimp & pork totaled over $42 before tip.
Very reasonably priced bowl of pho. The big and small bowl only has a small price difference, but the big bowl felt too much for me. The beef is tender, and the noodles are on the softer side. Still good though! (drink plenty of water.. they have quite a bit of MSG in the soup)
During my recent business trip to the USA, I had a craving for a hot bowl of pho, so my colleagues took me to a local Vietnamese restaurant for lunch. The restaurant had a simple setup but was clean, and the staff was attentive. I tried their signature pho, which featured a variety of beef cuts and was definitely worth trying. I chose the small bowl but couldn’t even finish it! I also ordered an add-on of pig blood with my young chicken pho, but it wasn’t as silky smooth as I’m used to, so I wouldn’t recommend it. The chicken pho was fairly average, though it was unique to find chicken served on the bone in the USA. The usual wrap with vermicelli, shrimp, and bean sprouts, paired with individual peanut sauce for dipping, was refreshing. Overall, we spent around $30 per person for lunch.
The broth was really rich and flavorful but the meat was a little dry. Noodles were cooked well. The area, given the location, reeks of sewer water but that is no fault of the restaurant itself. Once you are inside, you are fine.
Tasty cubed beef. Presentation, the quality , and who could not like the tomato rice. Yummy. The pickled veggie was peculiar good flavor. For what I had , it was good quality. This was only rating for what I had. As always, post your encounters , otherwise we as patrons know what we’re getting into.
Very yummy pho house with lots of variety-good menu. The bowls are large and the food is great. Crowded during Mon thru Fri at lunchtime. Good healthy choices and some very nice appetizers that are not so good for the cholesterols.
A popular lunch spot for locals and workers. We were craving a beef pho and ordered chicken wings. Both fairly tasty. The chicken was nicely fried. This is a good place for bun bo Hue.

We sometimes eat here for convenience. Today was for dinner. I ordered the Pho Tai Sach, which had been my usual pho order at all pho restaurants. Their pho has been usually a tad on the sweeter side for us but with generous meat and sach. Overall, 3.5/5. The Hu Tieu soup was decent and good, nothing special but they did provide 2 quail eggs and more meat vs othe places, 3.5/5. Spring rolls, decent and average (seems to have gotten shorter), nothing special or wow. The peanut sauce was ok, 3/5. Our server was impatient and didn't listen well to our order this time. Customer service was made much better by the owner's son, which he usually provided great service. 4/5.
The food and service were just okay. We had a small veggie pho, veggie egg rolls, and one more item I don’t remember the name of.
Not sure what happened but all items we ordered recently did not taste as good as before...new chef? Still with lot of meat and noodle but the broths were really bland this time.
We have a female table service today. Not friendly at all. We had phở, the noodles were over cooked, the broth is a little more salty than my taste. The thịt bò tái was well cooked. I like that the broth was clear and has cinnamon and star anise to it.
I personally haven't tasted any food, and I want to be fair with my rating for what I had experienced at the time. It was my first-time to pickup Pho Chicken noodles soup 🍜 and BBQ Pork over rice for my friend. The prep of foods are individually packed within the carryout paper bag. I am looking forward to return again and try out the food someday.

Wow! I’ve never ate seafood pho that bad. Got 3 small shrimp, one tiny bit of squid with little crunch (possibly sand) and some papery can’t explain what, definitely not seafood. Fluid was cloudy and distasteful. Twice as much vermicelli than usual and for garnish bean sprouts but also celery leaves and whole small lettuce leave. On the way out noticed that everyone was served basil but me. Could be a good stop on the way home from work for dinner but unfortunately going to look for something more exciting.
Annoyed at the old man who likely owns the place. Website says they are open till 8pm. Me and my wife arrived around 7:33 pm and he refused to seat us or allow us to place an order for delivery. If they close at 7:30, then they should update their store hours.
