Harbor House was absolutely exceptional. The food was delicious and the service was spectacular. I went to celebrate my birthday and all the staff wished me a happy birthday and they even gave me a birthday card. It was absolutely amazing.
We had brunch recently at Harbor House. The service and atmosphere was very nice. It was a lot of food and was very tasty. We had clam chowder, crab cake, frittata, eggs Benedict, carrot cake and crème brûlée. We had a window seat and we enjoyed brunch.
Elegant and old school restaurant right on the water. Interior feels chic yet cozy, and well lit. I came for the Happy Hour which is from 4 to 6PM, and required me to sit in the bar area -- so keep that in mind if you're coming here with other people! For an upscale place, I felt that the dishes were reasonably priced and had good portion sizes. An absolute must try are the mussels, served in a delightful cream sauce that makes my mouth water now thinking about it. Also enjoyed the pork belly skewers and slaw. Pork belly requires a LOT of work to be executed correctly (get a nice crisp without being too greasy or salty) and not only was the texture perfect, but the taste was too. I tried the tuna tataki, which I think has a little bit too much rice in proportion to the other ingredients, but it was still tasty! The oysters and mushrooms dish was a special, and I liked them. The strawberry mojito was sweet and refreshing. Finished off the night with the banana cake, served with a banana gelato! But I think the best part of my time there was the staff. They were super sweet, greeted other locals at the bar and checked in with them frequently... it's clear they care a lot about not only delivering a good experience but their community as a whole.
The Harbor House has been my absolute favorite spot for about 20 years. My husband and I and many friends have shared many wonderful meals and experiences here. Today is my birthday and we went and as usual we requested table 72, the chefs table. We like it because it’s big, sort of private and easy to navigate the restaurant. We ordered two delicious martinis with blue cheese olives while waiting for our table. Once we got there our server was Sam and Cory was our runner for the evening. While we were looking over the menu Chef Michael Genre came to our table and chatted with us. We were in no way expecting this, we have eaten at this table many times and this was a first. He was delightful and made great recommendations about dishes. We started with the Virginaca (?) and Boso (?) oysters! The virginaca are meaty, silky, smooth mouth feel! The boso was mineral and salty and yummy! Both were so good all you need is a little squeeze of lemon. While we were eating Chef brought us the new lobster ravioli appetizer (can be a main) and you need to come for this alone! It’s like the lobster bisque on steroids with tarragon, sherry, olive oil and perfect pasta pillows stuffed with a lobster mixture. We ordered two Stone Crab Claws since it’s the season. These were light and sweet and huge! Next we enjoyed the clam chowder, we never ordered it before it was delicious! Not stodgy, not heavy but just right lots of clams and veg and fresh cracked pepper and chives on top, wonderful. We ordered steaks and added a lobster tail to the entree. The special 30-day dry aged strip and pan seared boneless ribeye! The lobster tails were tender, sweet, delicate and just what you want it to be! The strip was served with au gratin potatoes and a cauliflower blend. The ribeye was served with smashed fingerling potatoes and the best roasted broccolini with garlic ever! The peppercorn sauce for the steak is served on the side and I appreciated that. For desert Chef Michael made my night! He brought out the Caviar and Gelato and this dish should not work but it does! The base is an Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Tuscany it’s as grassy, peppery and bright as it comes. This is topped with a scoop of vanilla gelato, that is topped with a dollop of Platinum Osetra Caviar with a sprinkle of flake salt! This dish is served with beautiful mother of pearl caviar spoons to get you to slow down and take small bites of everything. It’s fresh, cool, briny and delicious. We cannot thank Chef Michael, Sam, Cory and everyone at Harbor House for making my birthday memorable!
Amazing food! The service was a little slow and wrong order of oysters came out, but we enjoyed it regardless. View is the best part of this restaurant. We came here for lunch and fully enjoyed the beautiful lake view along the Milwaukee art museum. It is a bit on the expensive side, but still highly recommend coming out to celebrate any occasions or no occasions.
We had one of our best dining experiences ever celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary there on Friday night. We’ve celebrated every anniversary at this restaurant, and it’s always special. Although we were a bit disappointed not to be seated at our usual table by the window and were instead placed near the kitchen, the evening quickly turned around. Chef Michael Genre personally came out to welcome us and surprised us with two special appetizers and a fantastic bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Throughout the evening, he stopped by several times to check on us and even brought out a wonderful new dessert he had recently created. His kindness and attention made the night unforgettable and turned what started as a small disappointment into one of our best dining experiences yet.
Very nice atmosphere. Beautiful view. Service was very good. Oysters were so fresh and delicious. Tuna tarter was very good. I had filet and African lobster tail, both cooked to perfection. Normally when I get lobster, its always overcooked. Not this time, not here, was tender and done just the way I like it. Very satisfied with our visit and can't wait to go back. Thank you very much!!
This is exactly what I want when I say I want a fancy dinner. We usually only treat ourselves with a nice dinner once/twice a year and Harbor House will be our go to every year for sure. The food was amazing . The ambience was excellent. The prices are justified by the quality of the food. Can’t wait to go back, thank you !
Everything was exceptional. Server was knowledgeable and helpful. We had oysters, mussels, lobster bisque, scallops, sea bass, and the vanilla gelato. Will be back again next time we are in the area! Thank you!!
My wife and I took my mom here to celebrate her 96th birthday! We were greeted by the staff with Happy Birthday wishes to my mom as we entered! The service was great, the food was great, the atmosphere and view was great, need I say any more! Well done Harbor House, well done!
Traveling in from Florida, my wife and I were delighted to celebrate our 30th year In marriage with you guys. Everything was outstanding, especially the service. Sheryl and Anthony provided a warm and exceptional service evening to two newbies in Milwaukee. Memorable.
Had such an amazing dining experience! We tried so many food options and every single one was of the best quality and served with the utmost pleasure to the eye! We especially loved Lucas, Gabriel, and Red! Red took extra special attention to our requests and was always attentive when we were running low;) thank you for making our experience one-of-a-kind! Lucas and Gabriel were not only just managers, but really gave us the impression they truly cared about us. This place doesn’t NEED a review to be top notch… just go and find out for yourself! …OH! AND THE VIEW!!!
As always Harbor House was excellent. We came for lunch. Our server Vicki was attentive, knowledgeable and nice and friendly! I had the cranberry orange Manhattan - yum! Holy smokes the special Nantucket scallops special was amazing!
We had an incredible dining experience at The Harbor house. The views were absolutely breathtaking – the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. Our server was fantastic – friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. The food? Spectacular! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. This place is a must-visit if you’re in the area. We will definitely have to come back next year. 🤍
On the lake, it’s hidden behind lots of plants and bushes . You walk thru a garden area. I had clam linguini my grandson had chicken tenders, fries and pasta marinara. Everything was excellent.
What a magnificent discovery this exquisite restaurant was to dine at last night. It was highly recommended to us by our hotel waiter. The stroll to it from downtown was delightful. The flower beds to lakefront view is breathtaking. It’s perfectly situated on the harbor and the vistas are superb, service is flawless and cuisine is heavenly.
It was such an amazing experience! The place is dreamy with a unique view. Add to that, the staff is incredibly talented, and you can truly feel the team spirit among them. When we entered, Megan fulfilled our request of a table by the window with a sea view. Then we received a top-notch service, thanks to the team of Kate and Corey. Kate asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, and when we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, the entire experience became even more memorable. We arrived around sunset for dinner and were very hungry, so we decided to skip the appetizers and go straight for the main courses, leaving room for dessert because a place like this surely had to have a dessert worth trying. When the main courses arrived, we were surprised by the generous portions—so big that they were perfect for sharing. We ordered two dishes, “Bay of Fundy Salmon” and “18oz Black Angus Ribeye”, and each one was better than the other; we couldn’t decide which one was the best. We asked for the dessert menu, and here came the delightful surprise: alongside the menu, they brought us a lava cake with ice cream to celebrate our anniversary. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture from the restaurant, showing they genuinely care about making their customers happy. We left feeling truly content, and this experience is definitely worth repeating! Apologies for the long review, but the experience was absolutely worth the praise!
If you are looking for an exquisite water front dining experience, the Harbor House does not disappoint. The quality, fresh seafood with the water view in an elegant atmosphere makes this restaurant one of most desired MKE destinations. The caviar is premium quality, and presented artistically. The mussels are fresh and a great appetizer to start with. I tried salmon which was very moist, and presented on a bed of yukon gold mashed potatoes with asparagus grilled to perfection. The dining experience is not completed without a delicious dessert such as key lime pie, very zesty fresh and sweet all in harmony. The non alcoholic section of cocktails wine and beer was also very impressive and refreshing. There is valet parking upfront, also accessible through public transportation. Highly recommended experience.
My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here while we were in town. The food was amazing and the views of the Lake were perfect. Highly recommend!
We had an incredible night at the Harbor House. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a culinary delight. We were celebrating your birthday, and the staff was very attentive to that. Not one complaint! Highly recommend Harbour house for a unique dining experience. Thank you to all the wait staff. ~Dan Garcia
Met all of my high expectations. Really appreciated a non alcoholic drink menu. We had chop salad, muscles, filet and creme brulee. Was all fantastic. The chop salad was really amazing. The atmosphere was beautiful, and service top tier. Fantastic option for a special meal.
Delicious food, Branzino fantastic, tuna tartar the best. Wonderful wine selection, Amy our server was so delightful. Can't beat the view . Wonderful evening
Our favorite Bartolotta’s Restaurant. Easy reservation. Valet parking on a cold night. Friendly greeting and beautiful view of the harbor and Milwaukee skyline from our window table. Gavin and John were fun, attentive waiters. Delicious clam chowder, chop salad and entrees-salmon and whole branzino. Used rewards points and bonus cards from holiday gift cards. A perfect date night!❤️
Came here for my birthday and had an amazing experience! Everything, particularly the food was perfect!
For a classy and elegant dinner in Milwaukee I highly recommend Harbor House or another Bartolotta restaurant in the area. Some of the best steak and seafood, with beautiful views of the water all around the restaurant.
Best sea food dining experience in the city. Beautiful views, reasonable prices, and amazing lobster. The Scallop dish was phenomenal as well.
The harbor house is a wonderful place to have a unique experience. The food was good however some of what we ate had a fishy taste. Granted the Harbor House prides itself on being a fresh fish restaurant but still good seafood should never taste fishy. Also be prepared to spend $$$ my daughter gave me a $150. Gift certificate and we were a table of 6 but our bill was over $500. so beware.
Food was amazing. Came here 4yrs ago and it was very underwhelming. This visit was the complete opposite. The restaurant has been redesigned with high top tables near the bar and dinner tables in the rear. The food has also been kicked up multiple notches. The service was excellent and quick. Food temp was very good and we got in and out in under 2hrs.
This place is so delicious! The food and atmosphere are great. Amazing views. Roasted chicken was phenomenal. I would definitely go back!
We’ve been celebrating our anniversary at Harbor House for many years, and each visit is nothing short of extraordinary. The staff, food, and atmosphere are truly unmatched, and the chef’s table makes the evening an unforgettable experience. Thank you to everyone at Harbor House for making our celebrations so special!
We went to celebrate my birthday and husbands. We are two weeks apart. And OMG, it was a dinner experience to remember! Food was phenomenal and the staff was deeply caring and friendly! WOW, from the time you walk in to the every end! Everyone Greeted you with hello’s and smiles! You felt the atmosphere with a joy for what they do! Please don’t change! 🦞 🫶🏼
Beautiful restaurant located on Lake Michigan. Our family had a great dining experience here. The service was top-notch and the seafood tasted fresh. However, on Sundays, they only serve course meals. If you want an à la carte meal on Sunday, you have to sit in the bar area. I’m not a big fan of choosing course meals, but my family had a great time selecting from the appetizer, entrée, and dessert course menus.
Let's 1st talk about the view! Even though it was cold and no outside seating, the view of the skyline and Lake Michigan is really beautiful at night. Everything from the moment I walked in. The staff was welcoming and really gorgeous inside. The front reception, being seated, the waiter, and server. Also, in maintaining my healthy lifestyle food choices, sometimes I can be picky of food preparation. The waiter was very accommodating in making sure the salmon was exactly how I wanted. Turned out delicious. That's great customer service. Overall 10/10 candlelight fine dining experience. *Reservation made on the OpenTable App. Highly recommend.
The Harbor House is a consistent premier dining experience. Food is fantastic. Service is attentive and customer focused. It was a holiday gift to have Chef Michael visit our table, be cared for by a whimsical and witty waitress - Cyndy and attended to by manager Evan. The atmosphere is bright, beautiful and welcoming. The facility is consistently clean and the staff is professional who truly looks like they enjoy what they do! Thank you again to the staff at the Harbor House!
In my reservation I put it was for celebration of my boyfriend and my 2nd anniversary. And harbor house made it extra special! They gave us a personalized handwritten card saying happy anniversary, as well as complimentary champagne for a toast. The rest of the service was amazing as always. Our waitresses were very nice and attentive. The food was delicious! It was my boyfriend’s first time there and he says the meal was a 10/10! My boyfriend said he’s has had 2 melt in your mouth, memorable meals and now he has 3. Thank you harbor house for making our anniversary special
Absolutely outstanding experience. I had oysters, salad, green beans, soup and desert. Birthday event for my wife. Smashing good time, food was perfect, wait staff fun, happy and engaged. Wonderful. Will be an annual event for us (or more often(
Seafood spot with a lake view that actually backs up the price. I ordered the scallops and they were perfectly seared, tender, and clean-tasting. Service felt polished but not stiff, and the whole place has this calm, special-occasion energy. One of those meals you slow down for without trying.
Tried Harbor House for Valentine’s Day. The menu was set so that is important to note for our experience. The drinks were phenomenal, the espresso martini and white cosmo were perfect. We were seated after about a 15 minute wait and had to switch tables due to proximity to the serving station. It felt like they stuck and extra table in the hallway of the restaurant but we were able to move without much fuss. Our servers were absolutely amazing, I believe her name was Carmen but I could be wrong. 10/10 service and attentiveness from her and her assistant. Plates were cleared quickly, glasses were never empty, and questions were answered thoroughly. The chef’s reserve oysters were delicious as an appetizer, creamy and smooth. We had the lobster ravioli, which I did not care for at all, and the loaded lobster bisque as our appetizers. The lobster bisque was the best dish of the night. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the broth was rich. They were out of a few items which was disappointing considering the menu was already limited for the holiday. They were out of the scallops which was the main reason we made the reservation but the filet mignon was cooked to order and done well for a seafood house. I did not care for the lobster tails either, the lobster tasted like it was seasoned with an acidic, alcoholic, sweet something that just was not doing it for me. The lobster was cooked well, we might have just gotten a bad tail or whatever they brush on top of it just isn’t for me. The desserts were okay, the espresso crème brûlée was the winner of the night and had adorable chocolate espresso beans on top. The hazelnut and chocolate was too rich and dense for me but I also do not enjoy opera cake and misordered on my end. Overall, the service was fantastic but the food was slightly underwhelming. We will be back this summer to give the full menu a shot and Harbor House a second chance.
Overall. It was a pleasant experience. Sam our server was great. We went for an early lunch when they first opened. Great Views. Food & Atmosphere lived up to the reviews. I would definitely go back.
I was here, during there Sunday brunch. To start,,, parking is valet only($6). The inside is very nice, clean with a great view. Service is outstanding. Food is above average. But not worth the price. I'm glad I experienced the Harbor House. Will I return? No! It's not worth the price. Very expensive!
The location is wonderful. I love the tuna tartar and oysters Rockefeller. One of my friends had steak we had to send back twice due to it being very under cooked. Restaurant gave us free desserts though. Connecticut lobster roll was tasty as well. Good cocktails
Overall a fair experience. The atmosphere is very nice. People dressed from very casual to very dressed up so either is fine. We had a nice water view from our table. Service was very slow. So slow we didn’t bother to order a second drink because we worried how long it would take. The oysters were great. Sockeye Salmon dry and hot cooked med rare at all. Thought it was overpriced for the quality and presentation of the food.
It was my first time here, we had great service. Originally our reservation was for outdoor seating, but due to the weather and the wind we were seated inside. Even sitting inside we still were able to get a great table with a great view. I would have liked to had ordered something different on the menu but it won't be my last time visiting The Harbor. Our waiter was great, he actually was from the same area that I'm from in lake Geneva. He was really great and attentive. Can't wait for my next visit hopefully it will be outside seating. Thanks for a memorable time
Got to the restaurant an hour early, sat at the bar and ordered drinks and some apps. It was very warm in the restaurant despite staff saying the ac was on. I was flushed so it was very warm. The staff seemed exhausted, understandably with the volume of customers and climate in the restaurant. Host came up to me around reservation time and informed me my table is ready and I could take my time. We finished our app at 734ish and my reservation started at 730…so not a huge difference. We went over to the host stand informed them that we’re ready for our table and they told me they’re still waiting for the table and it will be ready soon. I let them know we rushed to finish our app so that we could get sat and even gave up our seats at the bar. They said it was a miscommunication… we were finally sat about 20 min later. I would say this was the most dissatisfying part of my experience. Food was good, but not great. Looked a little dried out, maybe sitting under the heat lamp a little long. Butter was very hard, not sure if that’s just how it’s served or how to explain that. Still good food, but you can tell it was just a crazy busy night. Vicky did a great job and Tony was very helpful. Danielle served us at the bar and I can tell she was flustered but she was trying her best to keep up with the customer requests. The kitchen and cooks looked tidy and on top of everything! Overall, it was great, maybe just the host team could communicate more clearly. Rushing and giving up a seat to stand for 20 min felt unnecessary.
My wife & I caught an early dinner before a show downtown. Kate & Alex did a wonderful job waiting on our table without being overbearing. The crab cake appetizer was very good with a nice amount of crab meat. We split the Garden salad which was plenty of food before our entrees were served. My wife had the Sea Scallops and I had the Salmon entree; both being very good. We enjoyed the wine selection through dinner and finished our meal with a Tawny Port and an Kahlua. All in all a very nice evening leading up to the play at the MKE Rep.
Best Valentine's Day spot, restaurant held a pre dinner on Friday the 13th none the less the 14 was all booked; I tried booking 3 weeks in advance, recommend to book with a lot of time for holidays. Got an early dinner reservation next to the window, had an amazing view/ lovely champagne/ always an amazing service, food was outstanding. I will say it's a bit pricy, but, it's well worth not skimping on (tip we always get a bottle of wine for the table saving a bit of the bill) enjoy.
We had brunch at the Harbor House. For a group of 15, with multiple children, the service was great. Aside from one order mix-up, everything went well. On to the food. I ordered off the 3-course brunch menu. 1. I started with the lobster avocado toast. As somewhat of an avocado toast aficionado, I was left underwhelmed with the dish in front of me. While the brioche was a nice touch, the rest was rather…bland. The avocado could have at least been seasoned with S&P. It tasted like ingredients rather than a dish. 2.4/5 2. For my main course, I ordered the spinach eggs Benedict with crab add-on. This was much more seasoned. The side potatoes were nice as well. Again, comparatively, nothing to write home about. 2.9/5 3. I finished off with the chocolate & hazelnut torte. It’s hard to go wrong with chocolate. The only thing here was the “sauce” on the side could have been thicker. It had the consistency of spilled milk. 3.1/5 Overall, if you’re going to Harbor House for brunch, enjoy the views and the company. At the price point, i think there are better options if you’re going for the food. 2.8/5
We visited last Saturday for lunch as a party of three. While the atmosphere was terrific, we were disappointed in the level of service we received, which made the experience less enjoyable and more stressful than one expects from a $550 (including tip) lunch tally. The most frustrating aspect was the pacing. We waited an absurd amount of time before being acknowledged by waitstaff. When our server did arrive they were pleasant and competent; however, it was obvious they were stretched too thin to satisfactorily manage the number of tables assigned to them. This lack of support resulted in many misses: -We spent half the meal with empty water glasses. -Sat with an empty wine glass hoping/praying for a chance at another. -The anxiety of scanning the room hoping your server happens by is not appreciated when dropping that kind of money. The food was satisfactory but fell short of "excellent." It was good enough that we considered dessert and coffee but ultimately decided against it. We were genuinely concerned that adding another course would result in another hour of waiting till we could wrap things up. Wishing just to "wrap things up" isn't the experience we were hoping for.
My wife and I chose Harbor House to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year and made our reservations well in advance. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were seated at what felt like one of the worst tables in the restaurant, right by the restrooms with staff constantly passing around us. The food was good overall, but we’ve had better dining experiences at Ristorante Bartolotta. The service was average at best. While the assistant waiter, Wilber, was attentive and helpful, we rarely saw our main waitress throughout the evening and even had trouble getting simple things like a water refill. For the price, the overall experience fell short of expectations.
We visited Harbour House on New Year’s Eve, and the atmosphere was absolutely vibrant—perfect for the occasion. The service was outstanding; the staff was attentive, friendly, and truly made us feel welcome. They were the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the main course was a major disappointment. We both opted for the special chef’s meal featuring the New York strip steak, but the quality of the cut was extremely poor. Roughly 60% of each steak was fat and gristle, making it nearly inedible. This completely ruined what should have been a celebratory dinner. I’ve enjoyed steaks at Harbour House before and have never experienced anything like this. Please, please do not bring this cut back—it was a huge letdown. The flavor was decent, but we simply couldn’t get past the excessive fat.
