Sat at the bar 🍺 Luckily no wait a d seats were available. Waiters and bartenders checked in and made sure we were okay. Drink was tasty and molcajete was yummy😋 and big enough for two people. The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of parking.

Chips and salsa, BOMB. Huge burrito that will last a whole day, BOMB. and even the little peppermints on the way out, BOMB. I frequent here quite often with my family whether its for a birthday or special event this is pretty much our go to mexican restaurant since we live really close. And every time we come we pretty much know we are gonna be left stuffed more than a thanksgiving turkey because my GOODNESS are the portions huge. No matter what you order it seems like every plate was made for two. I usually just go with the classic burrito which is probably the size of my forearm and it definetely keeps me going thats for sure. Pair that with a sleek and modern interior and you have yourself a trustworthy and cozy mexican restaurant.

We come here a lot. The food is great and the the drinks (alcohol) are well made. Many things to recommend, all of it is good. Whatever you would usually order at s Mexican restaurant, get that and it will be great. I love that they actually have very spicy options (ghost pepper sauce) that are part of the dish or can be ordered on the side. Service ranges from very good to super poor and this usually coincides with the age of the server at the time, with very young servers being pretty bad. Not that big of deal to me really, but it is what it is.

Thursday nights at La Parilla are far from their typical food quality and level of service. Thursday night at this location is football night, so it's loud, and the service level was lacking. The chicken Tracy's were good, but the crunchy taco shells were not crunchy. I loved the beef enchilada. I'm hindsight, I should have ordered more enchiladas and skipped the tacos. The beer was cold and a tall is really tall. The food came out very fast and was very hot. It took quite a while to get someone to come over to our table to take our order. The drinks did not come out as quickly. And the water took forever for some reason. Overall, I still recommend La Parilla because the food and drinks are generally good. I'm going to chalk this up to a bad night, but I still will return.

2 kids' meals Make your own plate with 2 mini sopes Camarones poblanos Total 59.34, which I was pleasantly surprised because chik- fil-a is more than that 😅 I ordered the jumbo shrimp in poblano sauce. It was fire but the only thing that they were not jumbo shrimps but I got 7 of them and the sauce just made it for me. The atmosphere is quite pleasant and elegant without the eek price tag. Would come back here again.

Food was delicious as always. We like this new location and has great atmosphere. We have dined here at least 30 times within the small chain. They need to hire more help and speed it up a bit. The service was slow.

Tough to find a table on weekends; wait times are impossible. There’s also the ever present chance of a noisy rave happening in the patio area, so forget having a quiet family dinner. Good reliable entrees, excellent salsa and decadent desserts (flan is out of this world). The fish plate is highly recommended. Slow service.

Really nice place. Went for a Sunday breakfast. Unfortunately it started with lipstick on a coffee cup. We were then served luke warm coffee. The server was friendly, but not very attentive. Lastly, one of our party members asked for eggs on the side due to an allergy and still got served eggs on the dish. The food took a while to be delivered, as we noticed other tables were getting served. Though the experience was not optimal we are still curious to try a lunch or dinner experience. The design and layout of the restaurant is really nice and the bar seemed to be a focal point. Hopefully our next experience will be better

Went 3/19/23 had the worst server. We asked for more salsa, and he never gave us any. Needed refills never got any. Food got the mocajete for 2, and I don't recommend it for 2 people unless you're planning on a snack and party all night. The asada was too fatty and flavorless. The chicken was dry and flavorless . The bacon on my shrimp wasn't cooked fully and was just thrown on. The chorizo had a strong lemon flavor, which makes me think it was getting old. The atmosphere was great! Definitely would be a great starter bar before going dancing. They are still new. I'm open to giving them one more chance because the location on McHenry Avenue is so tasty.

My husband and I came here for our date night. We've come before with family but first time just the two of us. We ordered our food and waited. Our waitress was bringing our food to the table when she accidentally bumped into the chair and dropped my plate of food. Throwing it across the table, onto my clothes, onto my husband's clothes, phone and shoes. Along with hot beans all over his hand. The waitress apologized, and moved us to another table. Im assuming what was a manager walked by, apoligized and said "im so sorry, we are going to give you a discount." And walked away. (They gave us 25% off... of my plate. Our total before the discount was $33.85. The total after the discount and textes.... was $31.85........... so not even a $3 discount lol... ) We waited for a waitress to come back around because my husband didnt have any utensils so he couldnt eat his plate of food. By the time a waitress came around (not ours) his food was cold. Our waitress came back maybe 2 times? Once we were ready we asked our waitress for boxes and for the check. She never came back so we just brought our check to the front. We paid at the front and left. I haven't been super impressed with the service prior, and I feel that this visit just made me not want to come back. We never have an issue at the other la Parilla locations. So im not sure the difference. But definely won't be our first choice for eating out. (P.s. my husband said his food was mid... shoulda went to chili's)

Saturday afternoon not very busy. Server spent her time talking with friends at a table. Food arrived cold. I ordered a chicken torta and one side had no chicken. We didn't have utensils or napkins and it took our server more than 10 minutes to get these things after our food had arrived. But the icing on the cake was we interacted with four employees on the way out and not one asked us how our meal/experience was. I can't remember that ever happening at a restaurant I have eaten at in the past few years. And I frequent various restaurants 3-4 times per week. None of my visits are fast food or to go. Our area helper was great. He was quick and very responsive. We asked please every time and said thank you always. Not sure why we had such a poor experience. It took 10 minutes for us to get the check after trying to get the check for ten minutes prior. There are so many great Mexican restaurants in our area, but I guess since La Parrilla moved down the street, they just don't care anymore.

First time here & most definitely the last time! Food wasn't good at all. It LOOKED good but lacked flavor. I ordered the Pambazo, the potatoes tasted like they were soaked in some dirty water. Overall it was just bland. The other two plates my kids ordered were also lacking flavor. One dish was the Chile Verde (pork) the green sauce tasted like canned enchilada sauce. The refried beans tasted absolutely awful. We couldn't even describe the taste but they just tasted nasty. The rice was okay. The last dish was a pork tamal with (that same canned tasting) green sauce that was poured on top of the tamal and it didn't look appetizing. The pork meat itself was so dry. We ended up giving both the Pambazo and Chile Verde dishes back. I didn't even get to tell them how bad the tamal was but my daughter just ate half of it since we already had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We were offered something new to order and I just didn't get anything else. My daughter ended up getting 2 tacos de Asada and those weren't much better. Didn't taste like Carne Asada. Whatever seasoning they use on the meat was more salt than anything else although it left a nasty aftertast. They also served the tacos with that nasty green salsa. The only reason I rate it ANY stars at all is for the chips and salsa that was pretty much the only good thing I ate. Lol. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. 👎👎

It's very nice and clean but that's the best part. Ordered the soup of the day caldo de res and birria.. Caldo is bad sorry but not sorry. No flavor just tasted like water with meat in it. Birria was okay. The issue was we placed the order and 30 minutes later she comes back and asked us you guys ready for the bill we laughed and said sure after we get our food. I guess the food was never placed. Another 30 min later we get the food another server comes and asked can i get you anything. I said yes napkins would be cool. Never got it.. Like is the whole staff high today. One of those nights where taco truck eating in the cold sounds way better

Visited on August 19, 2025 - extremely disappointing experience. My family (party of 14) visited for my girlfriend’s sister’s birthday, and the service was far below basic standards. A simple Paloma took about 15 minutes to arrive even after asking four times. We requested a sauce and a spoon three separate times, and neither was ever brought. Five people in our group were unhappy with their meals. The biggest issue was how a medical situation was handled. My girlfriend has a health condition and asked me to accompany her to the restroom for support. Instead of handling this quietly or offering an alternative, a staff member confronted me publicly in front of our entire family. It was embarrassing, unnecessary, and showed poor judgment. Despite all of this, a mandatory gratuity was added to the bill. I attempted to resolve everything privately and professionally: – August 21: Delivered a formal written complaint in person. No response. – August 27: Delivered a second notice. No response. – Called the restaurant and was told a manager would contact me. They never did. – Weeks passed with zero acknowledgment. Because the business completely ignored every attempt to resolve this, I was left with no choice but to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) so the issue could be addressed. I genuinely hope management takes this seriously and improves service, communication, and customer care going forward.
