Came into Modesto early enough for a quick lunch, and The Sandwich Shop was set in my sights and all I needed to do was squeeze the trigger, so I did. Among other things I had to see this guy about some antique lamp shades from Papua New Guinea that are made from tattooed tribesmen, he's parting with them because they give his new wife the Higglywigglies. Man-O-Man my sandwich was so good I had to get another just to verify the greatness of the first one. 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

My parents used to come here all the time back in the 80’s before they moved away. My dad recommended this place to me and we finally got to give it a shot. It feels like you’re in an 80’s time bubble, nice a clean too. Staff was very nice and do their job well. Thank you for the delicious hot chicken breast pesto sandwich on this cold rainy day and a moment back in time! Will definitely be coming back regularly!!

My favorite Sandwich place; this place is great . I don't live in the area anymore and every time that I am in the area I have to come here. It gets very busy and packed during lunch hour. That's why it's better to call ahead . The sandwiches are fully stacked and at a very good price. The price is great too. Around $9 or so depends on the sandwich. Definitely recommend 👌🏻 And the staff is always very nice and you get a great service aswell.

What a truly amazing hidden gem!! The sandwich I ordered was a mouthwatering delight in every way! I had a hot roast beef sandwich with American and jack cheese. I ordered a full bowl of the Red Pepper Gouda Soup. I savored every spoonful. For my beverage, I had a large root beer. The portions here are generous in size. Everyone here is friendly and helpful.

I've been coming here for over ten years and the sandwhiches are still super delicious! Giant portions and it all around has the bests sandwiches i have ever tried. And I'm a sandwhich guy. Love this little shop. Clean and very nice staff. Could get crowded during lunch rush. Reasonable price too! Located right off the 99. Will always be one of my favorite spots.

Great tasting, fresh sandwiches. Daily soups also! A nice little cozy place. I don't know why previous reviews didn't like the "rude" employees because I have had no issues in numerous visits. They were actually very helpful and patient. Go give them a try!

Sandwiches are giant and delicious for fair prices! But it can take 15 minutes to prepare them even if there's not too big a line. Parking is very tight.

Stopped in with the family and we all got something different. There were 5 mini corn dogs for the kids and they had premade, prepackaged PB&J's... This is a sandwich shop right? Roast beef was store bought and then nuked... Meat portions were very generous but man the quality just wasn't there.

I ordered 2 sandwiches one tuna on sliced sourdough with lettuce and onions and one turkey on marble rye with mayonnaise tomato and provolone.The tuna had a sweet roll not sliced. Both sandwiches had a lake of mayonnaise on both sides. There was puddles of mayonnaise all over the wrapper and outside of my bread. I had to wipe off the mayonnaise with paper towels before I could begin to eat it. My second half was so soggy by the time I got to it I just gave up on eating the rest. It seemed the person making the sandwich was upset and her head was not in the game. I wondered if I upset her in some way that she would make a complete mess and wrap it up to go. She was pushy while taking my order It was like I wasn’t going fast enough for her. One other person was in the Sandwich Shop at the time I was there so it wasn’t busy. No need for that kind of service . Time was around 4:45pm 02 /27/26 I got my change with no receipt.

Went to dine in for lunch here today and the cashier that took our order was super rude, tried to smile at the rest of the staff and they just give you a dirty look like they’re mad at the world. Service used to be good but now they suck, the sandwich was sloppy and not well assembled. For $60 I could have went to a restaurant, don’t waste your money here.

I ordered a turkey with American cheese on slice wheat bread , light on the mayo and no Produce. When I got the Sandwich home, it was loaded with mayo and covered with produce. I told them my husband is allergic to tomatoes. Needless to say the Sandwich was thrown in the garbage. This is not the first Time this has happened. I called the Sandwich Shop there excuse was they’re under new management and I needed to speak to certain employees when I put my order in. So much for trying to make things right on their part instead of making excuses for their incompetence

I've had this shop before. On this day, July 9th 2025, we went in and ordered 2 club sandwiches. Got mine toasted with sourdough. It was like eating Cap'n Crunch.....roof of my mouth was shredded. Also noticed that the guy making sandwiches was not wearing gloves, very unsanitary. Don't think I'll be coming back. Took a nap afterwards and woke up feeling not so great.....used the bathroom 3x within an hour

Never again will I go to the sandwich shop 3rd time the messed up my order I asked for 3 sandwiches 2 pastrami and 1 ham the gave me 1 ham 1 turkey 1 pastrami I asked everything no mayo so they gave me nothing on it with extra mayo so now I’m out of a lunch the other 2 we’re also wrong smh never had a problem till recently they need to follow directions pay attention to what there doing..how about if I’m allergic to mayo or something else I didn’t order I am very upset
