Daikokuya does it again. Every time I come here, I’m struck by how consistent they are. Presentation is always beautiful, the service is super prompt and friendly, and an absolute burst of flavors. I love it It’s great ramen. Easily some of the best I’ve ever had.
I really like this spot because it’s small and intimate. No wait for two on a Sunday evening. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a fun, lively kitchen where you can see the cooks in action. We ordered the Daikoku ramen, deeply savory, rich, and umami-packed with beautifully infused flavors and a comforting, silky broth. Another favorite is the fried rice, which is fragrant and perfectly seasoned. Their paired salad is a delight- fresh and refreshing, balancing the richness of the ramen. Always a good experience here. Free parking lot.
This restaurant offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere. It’s small, layout is simple, and straight to the point. The food was absolutely delicious, and I was impressed with the level of service. Our server was very attentive, even bringing refills without us having to ask. I brought my toddler along, and despite her being a very picky eater, she enjoyed both the ramen and the rice that I shared with her. That says a lot! Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I will definitely be returning.
Tucked away in Monterey Park, Daikokuya is a hidden gem that transports you to Japan. This cozy, intimate spot may be small, but it packs a big punch. Service: Exceptional! Friendly, attentive staff made us feel right at home. Food: - Sushi rolls: Fresh, creative, and delicious. - Ramen: Rich, savory broth and springy noodles. - Green tea ice cream: Smooth, refreshing, and perfectly sweet. Prices: Extremely reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Ambiance: Authentic Japanese charm, complete with traditional decor. Don't let the size fool you - Daikokuya serves up giant flavors and warmth. Can't wait to return! Highly recommend for Japanese food enthusiasts and anyone seeking a genuine culinary experience.
Ordered a side of Takoyaki and their signature Daikoku Ramen and asked for the richer Kotteri flavor option. This is their tonkotsu soup which included pork belly chashu, marinated boiled egg, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. The kotteri flavor option gives the broth a much more fattening flavor, still as refreshing to drink and to be absorbed by the noodles. The noodles here are a good portion and very tasty, a good balance between some chewiness and softness to the quality. The pork chashu is very tender, the marinated egg was not very runny and close to being hardboiled. If you're feeling like it needs some salt, the bamboo shoots have a strong saltiness to them that works as a side to the noodles. The takoyaki was well presented with an overflow of bonito flakes on top. The takoyaki octopus pieces were moderate in size but the batter is very good. The sauce is the right amount drizzles on top and the bonito flakes are a lot but a welcome finishing piece. The atmosphere is very cozy with strong Japanese influences from the wooden decor to the tables and meal presentation. Staff are very kind and understanding with any difficulties. There is enough parking in this plaza area. It does get busy but there were seats available to immediately be seated later into the night.
The best taken I have ever had, so flavorful. The quantity was so much I could not finish it all. Fantastic Ramen and the cashier pork was also suppppeeerrr delicious. I wish they had a bigger location as it only sits like 20 people and had to stand in the cold for 25 min waiting for a party of 3
Best place for ramen with thick. Juicy, succulent flavor. Periot! I got me the spicy ramen with some corn 🌽. Had the pitcher for 3. And it was refreshing! Also we ordered the daiko ramen combination comes with salad eel teriyaki, and ramen. I cannot stress how delicious it is here. This is it!
I stopped by during happy hour and grabbed a bowl of spicy miso soup, happy hour sausage and a cold mug of Sapporo beer. The sausage was fantastic and I highly recommend it. The spicy soup was a lot more salty than spicy and the egg was overcooked as I usually get it with a creamy yolk. The pork was below average and didn’t quite add to the flavor but otherwise it was a good experience. I am looking forward to trying out other ramen bowls here. As for the customer service, there were three people on the floor and at least two in the kitchen. The first person who assisted us was in a bit of a mood but she was probably not in the mood to work on a Friday night. The other two people were fantastic, ensuring my drink was always filled and being very attentive to our requests. As far as the physical location, it is tiny, and beautifully decorated. A few days later I returned with my wife so she could try it out and the line was out the door with a wait time of over an hour. The amount of people willing to wait is testament to the food. If you do stop by make sure it is earlier in the day as they open around 11am.
I was craving ramen, this spot popped up and I was fully satisfied. I ordered their Daikoku ramen with black garlic oil. The noodles were great along with the broth. Overall as a ramen it was delicious and the quality was up there. The fried squid was also delicious when paired with their sauces. I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.
Been coming here for over a decade then started going to Korean restaurants instead . Coming back here brings back so many memories but more importantly, happy to say that it was just as good! It did not deteriorate… although situated in a small mall , once you stepped inside, it mades me feel like I am back in Japan because in Japan, many of the restaurants are this tiny.. the chau siu pork rice bowl is phenomenal! Japanese fried rice is different than the Chinese but it is just as delicious but with more of a Japanese flavor and of course, the ramen is amazing!!!!
My first time here after hearing so many good things from my husband since he grew up eating at this place. We got the combo which was the noodles, rice with beef and a salad. I got their house special noodles which is the daikokuya noodles. Overall K thought it was ok. The noodles were a bit starchy. But the broth was creamy just enough, although I felt like there wasn’t enough char shiu meat in my noodles, just very little and thinly sliced. We also got CA rolls and they were very good. I’ll try other dishes next time.
12/23/2025 Daikokuya 111 N Atlantic Blvd Ste 241 Monterey Park, CA 91754 We went there for dinner about 5:30 on a Wednesday. It's in a retail complex at the corner of Atlantic and Garvey with entrances to the ample parking lot surrounding the building from both. There was a 20 minute wait list when we got there and got longer as we waited to be called in. The cozy interior consists of a small counter and 5 small tables. After being tabled, my sister ordered the house Tsukemen, Wifey ordered the spicy house Ramen and I had the Katsu Curry bowl. Our food was brought to us shortly. My order also included Miso soup and Slaw, which were pretty standard. My Curry consisted of a large quantity of rice with Curry sauce, pickles and the Katsu which was disappointing. Although the Curry was flavorful with nice spice the thick Katsu slices were dry and chewy with gristle. This was not your standard pounded tenderloin but some kind of chop that was sliced. The gals thought their noodles were great but my Katsu was not good. Service was good. I'd go back for the Ramen but avoid the Katsu Curry bowl.
Verdict: Nothing special. The bad: They served Tsukemen with regular, unconcentrated, ramen broth. Do not order this unless you want a tonkotsu ramen deconstructed and want to pay extra for that. 0 stars... The good: Chicken Karage Bowl was juicy and flavorful, + 2 star...
I order two combinations for 3 people. Each combo included their signature ramen, a salad, and a side dish. Our picks were the chicken egg bowl and the pork cutlet bowl. The salad was pretty good. However, the ramen was a bit of a letdown. The two bowls we received were inconsistent. In my case, my bowl was piping hot, but the noodles had an odd floury texture. My girlfriend's bowl was lukewarm, and her noodles were chewier than mine. The ajitama, a seasoned egg, didn't quite hit the mark either. While the bowls were a step above the ramen, the sauce they used was a bit too sweet. We waited for approximately half an hour before getting a table. The indoor seating options were limited, but luckily, there's outdoor seating available as well. On the bright side, parking seems to be quite ample.
Very average ramen place and no idea why so many people come. This is from someone who has dined at many ramen places in Japan, Asia and here. Broth and noodle taste decent but nothin special. Two pieces of pork are tiny. Eggs are not the high quality half boiled kind as they are fully cooked inside. Place is tiny. Only one row of counter seating and then a few tables. The kitchen and storage area are way bigger. Service is very bad. Was there at 5:15pm on Fri and already a line. The 2 servers either have no or simply forced smiles. You get the feelings that they are already exhausted and don’t want to be there. We were in a hurry and I saw two counter seats and another empty table with 2 seats available for my party of two. After a while I just had to ask and the attitude and response was like “I am just going to take my time and you just have to wait.” The restaurant’s bathroom is old and doesn’t feel clean either. This mall is so dead and dirty. Crazy that the whole side by the shops are all disabled parking spots, wasting so much parking spaces. Overall would not recommend and won’t come back again. There is got to be way better ramen places than this in SGV, let alone LA.
I’m not sure how they wash their dishes, but when they brought mine out, it had a strong, fishy odor that made it unusable. Then, my takoyaki arrived—two pieces were burnt, had a strange smell, and were super oily, although the inside was well-seasoned. Next was the roll. The rice was mushy and not rolled tightly, so it fell apart as soon as I picked it up. The only redeeming part was the side of ginger, which was really good. When my ramen arrived, I was surprised to see instant noodles in the broth instead of the traditional round noodles. The broth was also way too salty. To top it off, the next day, I had an upset stomach and had to take medication. 🫤 I definitely won’t be coming back.
Absolutely horrible customer service. We waited about 10–15 minutes just to ask if there was a wait for a table and to put our name on the list. The two girls working looked directly at us multiple times and did not acknowledge us at all, not even a simple “we’ll be right with you.” The place wasn’t busy, and they were standing in the corner looking at us, yet no one came over to assist. It felt very unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Overall, because of that experience, we’ll definitely choose to go somewhere else next time, somewhere that at least acknowledges their customers.
I don't usually put any review on any store that I eat but this is an exception. I ordered a delivery order and it take 35-45 minutes to be delivered, which I got a head up before so no complain about it. The thing is this is the worst ramen I've ever had. You get 2 slices of meat and 1 egg , some bamboo shoots and... beensprout? Idk if anyone love beansprouts in their ramen but my experience is not so well. The soup was salty and VERY bitter idk if it is designed like that. Everything else is meh, not bad but will not try a 2nd time.
