I have gone to this restaurant several times and have always been happy with my experience. Sam (who I think is the owner) is very friendly. I remember one Christmas when plans changed and we wanted to eat at Siamese Bay. They were about to close, but sat us anyway, and took good care of us! I highly recommend this place! Great food and atmosphere!
The pineapple curry was the best I've eaten. They cook it to the level of desired spice, which was perfect! The fresh spring rolls were packed with crunchy veggies and served with two flavorful dipping sauces. Our server was friendly and refilled our glasses without being asked! Can't wait to go back!!
I have had Thai food all over the state of California and other states too. Even at pacific grove. But this restaurant wins hands down! Right from the beautifully wrapped spring rolls, to the clear vegetable soup, vegetarian drunken noodles and the chicken dish my husband enjoyed, this is the best Thai food I have eaten! Great service and decor too! We will be back!
Pad thai, tom kha kai soup, spring rolls, thai iced coffee, panang curry, rice and veggies. INCREDIBLE food, super sweet and friendly owner, absolutely will come back next time we are in Monterey!
Siamese Bay is a true gem for anyone seeking authentic and flavorful Thai cuisine. From the moment we walked in, the welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a delightful dining experience. The food was nothing short of exceptional—every dish bursting with rich, vibrant flavors that transported us straight to Thailand. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, the Green Curry was a creamy and spicy masterpiece, and the Tom Yum Soup had the perfect kick of heat with a tangy finish. What truly made the experience special was Sam, the owner. He was an absolute delight—warm, friendly, and clearly passionate about the food he serves. Sam took the time to explain the dishes and even shared stories about the inspiration behind some of the recipes. You can tell he pours his heart into every dish, and it’s reflected in the quality and authenticity of the food. If you’re looking for an unforgettable Thai meal served with a side of genuine hospitality, Siamese Bay is the place to go. I can’t wait to return and try more of their incredible menu!
Yum!! Food: we were able to order all vegan options. Each was delicious: veggie soup, panang curry, and pad Thai. Service: fast, friendly, and attentive. We were in and out quickly with smiles on our faces. Atmosphere: peaceful traditional Thai music that was perfect for a relaxing meal. Also, the decor was lovely.
We enjoyed the pad thai, pad see ew, green curry with beef. I wish d green curry waa more creamy from coconut..its kinda soupy but loved the bamboo shoots in it. Coconut ice cream was delicious. We ate here 2x. The owner is friendly and we love ambiance.
Title: A Culinary Delight with Exceptional Service I recently had the pleasure of dining at Siamese Bay Restaurant and I can't stop raving about the wonderful experience. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The spring rolls were an absolute delight! Bursting with flavor and perfectly crispy, they were undoubtedly the best I've ever had. The attention to detail in the preparation truly sets this restaurant apart. Each bite was a delicious journey through Thai culinary excellence. What truly elevated our experience was the outstanding service. The staff was attentive, and the owner went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and cared for. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made our evening truly memorable. I highly recommend Siamese Bay Restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic Thai dining experience. The combination of delectable dishes and unparalleled service makes it a standout gem in the culinary scene. Kudos to the entire team at Siamese Bay for creating a dining experience that exceeded all expectations!
Absolutely amazing!! The food was delicious and the owner was so kind! I had gone in a few months ago to get Thai iced tea and the owner was so kind and helpful. I came back to support him and try the food and it did not disappoint!! He was so helpful and attentive- it’s worth coming here just for the great costumer service. They have great vegetarian options and we enjoyed the tofu drunken noodles and green curry. It was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were superb. Will be telling everyone about this restaurant- can’t wait to come again!
My husband and I were visiting from Texas and Sam waited on us. All of his recommendations were delicious. We had the beef red curry that was incredible! Food was very fresh and excellent quality. If we were locals it would be a regular spot for sure! 10/10 recommend!
Nice cozy Thai restaurant, not crowded on holiday nights. Very delicious food, we ordered the soup, pineapple curry, fried spring rolls, pan Thai, Hawaiian fried rice, seafood Panang, princess duck. We enjoyed all. Definitely recommend.
Finally, an authentic Thai restaurant 🙌 I recommend getting a Larb Salad for an appetizer (medium level spice is fine for spice sensitive individuals) and any of the duck dishes are amazing! The staff is friendly and quick with service. This is my new go to spot for Thai cuisine. Give it a try!
What a delightful experience! The atmosphere was charming, the authentic Thai food was absolutely delicious, and the owner, Sam, was incredibly kind. The portion sizes were just right, and everything we tried was superb. We'll definitely be back!
Our family loves this restaurant, and have been frequenting this delicious Thai spot every time we’re in Monterey since around 2014. Forever the very best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to. Our family literally talks about how delicious the food is from here once every six months at the least while we’re living across the country.
They have the best spring rolls on the peninsula, hands down. The decor is beautiful and lends to a very calm dining experience. The service is prompt and friendly. I only suggest you order your food spicier than you normally would, it's milder than other places I have been to (but still very delicious!)
My absolute favorite restaurant in Monterey. Authentic Thai food with exceptional service. I’ve been here at numerous times in my 18months living in Monterey and can’t speak more highly about it. I brought my friends and family in and we all still talk about it almost a year after I left, which is why I’m just now writing a review. Drunken noodles, coconut curry noodles, and eggplant Thai basil are my favorite dishes and my sister still raves about their Tom yum soup! Thai ice tea is a must get even though it’s on the sweeter end, it complements the dishes. Parking is street parking and the wait for food is about less than 15mins.
I’ve been coming here for take out for a little while. My family loves this place. We finally came in to dine. The food looks as good as it’s presented. My 7 year old daughter wouldn’t stop raving over the Thai fried rice and stuffed herself! Mu husband loves the spicy green curry. I love how fresh the vegetables are prepared in all the dishes. Definitely coming back since our little one insists we come here weekly, at least….
One of the best real Thai restaurant I've had outside of Thailand and definitely the best in town. The food is very tasty, dishes are full of fresh veggies. The owner (Thai) and staff are very nice and efficient.
Sam is great and this place is iconic. The Shrimp Suit is delicious and curry noodles was amazing with duck. Best Thai in Monterey!
Pad Thai was special with a mixed flavor of Peanuts, sweetness and sourness. Scallops and Prawn Hot pot was beyond expectations. Scallops and shrimp were very fresh.
Delicious food! We loved it so much we came back twice during our trip. Definitely try the dumplings and the panang curry 🍛
While visiting Monterey, we decided to checkout a Thai Restaurant in the area and chose Siamese Bay Restaurant. It was the best decision we made. The food was so flavorful and tasted so good! We started with an order of the dumplings and I must say, it's the best dumpling I've tasted by far. Then we ordered scallops and shrimp hot pot. Was very delicious!! Totally what we didn't expect! A quaint little restaurant with very delicious food. When you look around the restaurant, you'll see awards given to them. Well deserved! I recommend for those visiting to definitely check this place out. Friendly people working there and the owner was very nice too!
WE DESTROYED THAT FOOD!!! Owner Is Credible And Knowledgeable, Restaurants Been In Business For 40 Plus YEARS! Even Provided After Hours Service, I’ve Had Thai Food All Around The USA, Easily Top 5, The Best In North California BY FAR.

Every time I'm lucky enough to visit Monterey, I make sure to stop by this place. Easily the best Thai, and possibly one of the best restaurants in the whole Monterey Bay. Service is outstanding, atmosphere is inviting and the food is a must have if you happen to be in the area!
Cheap with huge portions! Can barely finish any dishes we ordered. Probably no service provided but considering the price and portions…5/5
Went with a group of 3. We ordered Thai fried rice, drunken noodle, panang curry, and Thai iced teas. All of the food was incredible, and especially the pad Thai. It was the best pad Thai we have had. We are visiting here from the Midwest, and it blows all Thai places back home out of the water!
The food is amazing! It’s like a little slice of Thailand in the restaurant. I come here for lunch after my morning classes and the food never fails to disappoint. It’s always super quiet and comfortable and the service is very personable. I say this as a local.
The decor when you walk in is so perfect: lived in and authentic! The take away service was very convenient, but oh the food!! The Pad See Yeu had so many fresh vegetables and good amount of chicken. Wonderful taste and definitely a new favorite!
Authentic Thai food in a cute space that ports you away from Monterey for a moment. We like coming here to mix things up from the usual American fare. Surprisingly, I liked the broccoli chicken the best, but there's a huge menu to select from.
This restaurant was very good. Nice ambience and the owner was very friendly. Food was great but be aware that the spicy level is high if you order a spicy dish. For those that like spicy thai food, you’ll love this place. Lunch option was nice and not expensive.
I ordered the Hawaiian fried rice. “Fried rice served with chicken, shrimp, and cashew nuts, baked and served in a pineapple shell.” Overall I really enjoyed my meal! Was quite delicious. Mine just wasn’t served in the pineapple shell. After my food was delivered I asked the server about this and he said they ran out. Also, there were only two pieces of shrimp mixed in with the rice. Service was fine. After being seated I waited a while before my order was taken, but then my food was delivered in less than 15 minutes.

I ordered the Pad Thai and a Thai milk tea. The milk tea was twice too sweet and overwhelmed the tea (and I have a sweet tooth and can handle pretty sweet drinks usually). The pad Thai was unfortunately lacking in flavor and barely had any sauce, and was a bit sour. Unfortunately this place was not my cup of tea. Maybe some of their other dishes are better. The amount of food was enough for more than one meal (although I do not eat too much at once anyway), and I felt like it is relatively affordable. Also for those who want itemized receipts, this establishment cannot do that, so if you're trying to find a place during a work trip, I recommend looking elsewhere if you need itemized receipts for reimbursement.
The food here is decent though not amazing. If you are looking for a solid no fuss meal then this place will work, you just won't be blown away by the food. The staff are super nice and friendly and service is quick.

Our daughter was long for Thai food since we came here for a vacation. She found this place on Yelp. The food was excellent and the place was warm and cozy. The server was friendly ( a Hispanic gentleman) he was very attentive and helpful. He did a very good job for answering and entertaining us while we were there for dinner. The owner on the other hand was a little cocky and not so friendly . I am 100% not coming back to this place ever we have another opportunity to visit this area in the future.
Nice atmosphere inside, unenthusiastic service, dishes didn't look clean, water tasted bad, and food was not awful but not tasty.
Had the Falafel wrap and the Chicken Shawarma. Wrap was ok but dry, even with extra sauce. Don't know what the chicken shawarma was, but is was not chicken shawarma. Owner is very nice and friendly, but not very good food. I wanted to like this place, if for no other reason than how nice the owner was, but I won't be back, sorry.
The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean with fun, unique and interesting decor. Unfortunately, the food sorely missed the mark. The angel wings were a strange and unappealing texture. The green curry wasn’t green and didn’t have any curry in it. It was more like a bland clear broth. We requested medium spice on our dishes. They all came bland and we had to request some chili spice to give the dishes some kind of taste. At least the veggies were fresh, but all 5 of the dishes we ordered weren’t seasoned well.

Food was very underwhelming. Just not that flavour that you get in quality Thai restaurants. Was expensive for poor quality meal
Been there since 2006, but last night I ordered 1 spring roll and 1 dinner entree to go. The container had 1/2 cup of food…. For 20$ the entree was horribly small. No meat just tofu and not much of anything
Saturday night. I called them an hour before to make a reservation for "tonight". They told me no reservations, first come, first serve. Arrived and the door is locked although there are people inside. Sign says it is open and closed at the same time. Ignored us when they saw us at the door.
I visited Siamese Bay Restaurant and ordered Pad Thai Noodles with scallops along with Thai Tea. Unfortunately, the Pad Thai was very sour, and the vegetables were wilted and not fresh, even showing signs of spoilage. The scallops didn’t taste fresh either, which made the dish even more disappointing. I couldn’t eat it at all. The Thai Tea was delicious but a bit too sweet for my taste. The service, however, was excellent, and the staff’s humor was the only highlight of my visit. I’m actually glad I came alone and not with my family, as I could only drink the tea and leave the food almost untouched. I chose this restaurant based on reviews, so I’m leaving mine in return. If you’re visiting for the first time with family, I strongly suggest ordering just one dish first—if it meets your expectations, continue ordering; if not, you’ll save your money by trying another place.

Do not get the Pad Thai! It was absolutely disgusting!! I have never had such a horrible experience! The waiter never ask asked how our meal was…because he probably knows. I will say I tried my husband’s drunken noodles and that was actually good. And even he couldn’t stomach my meal.
