Great food, service and atmosphere! There’s a little bit of everything on the menu and many with an Hawaiian flare. Also a kids menu and a full bar. Indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting) along with an arcade. The arcade has several different types of games. Some of which dispenses tickets that you can exchange for prizes. Whether you’re looking for a nice relaxing night out or some fun for a large group. You can’t go wrong!

Me and the wife stopped in for date day. Offered more than I expected. Really loved the Furikake crusted ahi! The wife got the short ribs and didn’t disappoint. The marinade they use is spot on. Definitely will be back!

Hawaiian fusion food with a taste of Americana. Friendly and efficient staff, diverse menu, fun music, fun people. Not to miss if in Morgantown, Western PA. Never had a bad or questionable meal. Lunch specials…which is what Ihad today…Surf and Turf over rice…..yummmmmmm!

Tropics is AMAZING! 5 stars across the board. All of the food I have had is amazing. From firecracker shrimp, wings, chicken katsu, the list goes on and on. Happy Dad is the perfect compliment to everything on the menu. From the owner down to every last staff member, always a smiling face and great experience. Live music on one of the coolest patios I have seen. Must stop if visiting Morgantown/Cheat Lake.

Service was great!!! Food was wonderful, vibes were great and the atmosphere made you feel like you were on a tropical island when you’re really just in WV. Everything we ate was delicious, and the homemade crust on our dessert was to die for. I wish I lived closer so I could come back more often!

Incredible food! Great mix of options. Pepperoni roll is fire. Furikake Crusted Ahi is phenomenal. They also sell Happy Dad my favorite seltzer now!

I rolled in, scored a $3 fish taco, grabbed a happy hour sour from the tap, and ordered a pizza because obviously carbs are a love language (although I did get cauliflower crust which I would so recommend). The bartender introduced herself, and even remembered my name (basically the unicorn of customer service). She’s got that sunny energy, is very attentive, efficient, and low-key the reason the whole place feels like a hug with beer.

Love their Hawaiian style foods. The Mochiko chicken was a great dish. The flavor was excellent. I wasn't a fan of the Loco Moco beef plate. Maria was a joy to work with in getting things ready for our 38 person, wedding rehearsal dinner. I very much appreciate the waitresses that took care of us. They were top-notch.

The service was great, thanks Natalie. The food was amazing and the portions were generous. We dined inside but took a stroll in their outside area which is awesome. If you get a chance you won't be disappointed.

Tropics offers an interesting mix of Hawaiian and Asian-inspired dishes. On our recent visit, the pepperoni rolls were a delightful surprise, with their flaky hawaiian roll flavored pastry and savory filling, the spring rolls were fresh and a great combo with the chilli dipping sauce. The highlight was the Mochiko Chicken, which was incredibly tender, juicy, and perfectly fried with a delicious sweet and savory coating. We finished with the enormous Hula Pie, a layered ice cream dessert that was a satisfying end to the meal. Tropics is worth a visit if you're looking for a unique experience in the area.

In town for the weekend staying at the Cranberry hotel and this gem of a restaurant is directly across the parking lot. We ate here every day of the weekend, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Not one time was I disappointed in anything. The service, food, atmosphere promptness were extremely on point! I highly recommend this to anyone!

Situated in the same parking lot as The Cranberry Hotel this was a perfect place to relax after a day of travel and hiking. The atmosphere is very relaxing and tropical, helping your heart rate and breathing to slow as soon as you enter the outdoor seating area. The staff are friendly and casual, helping you feel like you dining with friends at your service. Because we were walking back to our hotel room we each got an alcoholic drink. My husband got a bourbon and I chose a rum drink, Tropical Sunset, which was so refreshing. Our entrees were fish tacos, cheese burger and sides of macaroni salad. Delicious! It was the perfect way to end our day!

I learned about this place from my Dad who frequently visits here. He raved about it, so we went here as a family for my birthday celebration. He was raving for a reason. We were not disappointed. It was a Wednesday, so we all had the AYCE crab legs and it was well worth it. The crabs were delicious & cooked perfectly. They were steamed, not boiled so they cracked wonderfully every time. We all had about 4 plates before tapping out. Trust me, this is not a place that’ll allow you to leave hungry. The waitstaff were all incredibly kind & courteous. They made sure we had everything we needed & even brought out some extras. No cup was left unfilled & no plate was ever without crab legs, they kept’em coming. The atmosphere was very chill, I loved the projection of the aquarium on the back wall. I think it brought a lot of character to the space. Although, it was packed, we didn’t feel cramped at all. It was cold & rainy, so we didn’t get to check out the patio, but that just means we have to come back when it’s warmer. 😏 With that said, we cannot wait to come back here & TRUST ME … we will be back!! Crab legs are mine & my Dad’s favorite food. Not many places have AYCE & even less places do it right. Tropics, you’re setting the bar. Keep up the great work!

The food was great we came for a late lunch. We had shrimp cocktail, calamari, a side salad, the pork nachos and wings. We tried a little bit of everything because we had never been here before. Everything was delicious, the nachos were AMAZING though, definitely our favorite! Service was great, Madeline was our server and made sure to explain the menu and what the specials were and was very attentive to us. It was a great experience and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some delicious food!

We were staying at the hotel next door and decided to try this place based on its great reviews. The bar scene is not our "thing" when we are looking for fine dining, but they balance it well here. We were definitely NOT disappointed. Our server was super sweet and very attentive. We were there on Steak Thursday [Steak, potato, salad, and breadstick $20], and we added a lobster tail for $15. We had the Calamari and Truffle fries for our appetizers, and they were just great. The side salads came out next, fresh, green, and just perfect. No limp lettuce here. Cucumber, tomato, croutons, and a nice ranch dressing. But then the steak...oh my goodness, sheer perfection. Medium rare cooked exactly right. Juicy, flavorful, tender. Nice soft baked potato, fluffy, not hard. Lobster tail was large and cooked to perfection. Overall ?? There was nothing about our meal or our service that was not spot on !!! Super impressed !!! I even bought the T-Shirt to remember it by "Tropic like it's hot !!!" - Enjoy !!!

We had our sons wedding reception here for 50 people! FANTASTIC! Food and service was GREAT! Such a beautiful outside atmosphere!! Super organized staff and management! The cost was extremely reasonable and the overall value topped all other options!!

We went tonight for the all you can eat crab legs (every Wednesday night.) It was only $50. They first serve a nice side salad with a bread stick. Then they give you a piece of corn on the cob with some corn fritters before serving the crab legs. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. There was live music with plenty of outdoor seating. The waitress informed us of upcoming events that sounded like it would be so much fun. We will definitely be back!

My family and I ate there for the first time and enjoyed it. The selection of food and drinks did not disappoint. They also have specials throughout the week. We went on a Thursday so they had a steak and $1 slice pizza night. I ordered their vegetables stir fry with added chicken. Our waiter had a great upbeat personality which made a great experience. We will more than likely go back.

We were in town for an event at WVU. Food, service, and atmosphere were excellent!!!! We didn't know what to expect, and we were definitely impressed. We had Mochiko Chicken, Chicken Katsu and the Hawaiian Chicken sandwich. We finished our meal off with the hula pie. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with suggestions. All around great experience. Can't wait to come back.

This place is amazing. The bartender was so friendly, despite being really busy, she helped us with recommendations as it was our first time there and we didn't know what to get. Their drinks were great and the desserts were just phenomenal. I wish we lived closer so we could come more often, but we're in town for a wedding and sadly will probably never be back this way. But I highly recommend!!

Getting a table was a bit slow, but once we got our table, the Waitress was amazing, My steak was a Perfect Medium! Usually anywhere else you go it's either rare or well done when you ask for Medium. If you're looking for a place for steak this is the place to go! The Chefs there are not like Chickfila or McDonalds. They're like a 5 star restaurant grade Chef. Very pleased!

Been here twice so far and we all LOVE TROPICS! The food is amazing, great place for birthdays or any kind of celebration. Delicious drinks and they have an ice cream parlor within their arcade. There's stuff for people of all ages to enjoy here! Just stay clear of the grumpy older guy that sometimes works the ice cream/arcade. He was the only downside. Everyone else were very sweet and helpful!

Stopped in for a business lunch. Pleasantly surprised to find such a nice joint in wild and wooly West Virginia.. an attractive array of indoor and outdoor settings, pick sunny or shady, or air conditined. Outstanding service and food presentation. The grilled shrimp was succulent and barbequed, creatively presented under the shade of a pineapple top. Dessert delivered in whopping proportions, but we ate it all.

The vibe here was great! The hostess staff was very accommodating! Vicki was a queen at the outdoor bar and Lauren was great too! I got a quesadilla and it was delicious!

Tropics is a Morgantown institution. I love the outdoor seating, the white tablecloths, the plastic Pepsi cups, the bar, the backroom with games, the collection of Hawaiian and American menu items, the overnight parking for safety. It's such a beautiful collection of items that come together to create a place that could only exist here, and I love it for that. I always love the ahi tuna here. Come and enjoy this incredible place, and savor the fact it exists.

Cool Polynesian weapons on the walls! Food was awesome. I cannot remember the exotic name of what I had, but it was a vegetable stir fry with some kind of tropical seasoning . It was all mixed together and poured over rice . It was a huge serving! But I did my duty and every bit of it! I was happy my tummy was happy and great was the joy thereof! Waitress was very attentive and helpful. And the manager came out to make sure everything was taken care of. I would eat there again except we live 2 hours away

They have a good selection of different styles of food but they have a slight Polynesian flair to it. The couple different poke they have is great. Price is reasonable for what you’re getting. Outside atmosphere is really great. Several tiers of deck and covered area. Live band on the weekend is a lot of fun.

This place is Amazing! I definitely felt the Aloha vibe. Friendly and attentive staff and great owners. The live music and DJ are always on point, and there was even an incredible magician doing insane tricks table side one time! We Will definitely be back :)

I was visiting from Maryland. The selection was great; there were lots more things on the menu that I would like to try. I had Chicken Mochiko, and boy was it good! We also tried the Hawaiian Macaroni salad (great) and the Asian Slaw (also wonderful and tangy but different if you are expecting creamy. This version is not creamy.) Son had Shrimp Scampi pizza, loved it. The portions were very generous and amazingly inexpensive for someone coming from the high COL of Maryland, where you could not remotely eat at a nice restaurant for this price.

This is a really nice place to stop for a bite to eat! We chose to enjoy the nice evening weather and dine outside. The atmosphere is so relaxing. The property is decorated beautifully. We had the Thursday steak special. The steak and baked potato was cooked perfectly and Delicious. We also had a banana dessert, I can’t remember the fancy name. But it was also super good. The girls working the patio section were all super nice and attentive. The band that was playing was great. Everything was amazing. We didn’t get a chance to make it inside at all, but I’m sure it’s just as nice inside.

We drove 2 hours to get there and it was so worth it! Room for plenty of people, menu was so fun, food was so good, our waitress was super, and price was very reasonable! We got a fun drink, a Hawaiian dish, and of course a beautiful dessert!

Honest Reviews

Atmosphere- 3 stars- While the outside of Tropics definitely leans into the island vibe with the tiki bar, lights, and tropical plants, the interior can feel pretty plain by comparison. It’s more like a standard bar-and-grill setup once you’re inside—functional, but not particularly immersive or stylish. Kind of a letdown if you’re expecting the same energy as the outdoor areas. It wasn’t warm outside so we didn’t get to experience the Island vibe which I’m sure is a lot better. Service- 4 stars- our waitress (I believe her name was Maddie) and was friendly and helpful with our selections. She recommended the Pork Spring rolls and there were awesome!! Food- 4 stars- The menu offers a diverse choice of blending Hawaiian-inspired dishes with American favorites. Signature items include the Kalua Pig Nachos, featuring Hawaiian-style pulled pork on crispy tortilla chips, and the Furikake Crusted Ahi, a seared tuna dish with a flavorful crust. Other popular choices are the Mochiko Chicken, marinated in soy, garlic, and ginger, and the Loco Moco, a grilled hamburger patty topped with an over-easy egg and brown gravy. The restaurant also offers a variety of burgers, such as the Island Burger with teriyaki-glazed beef and grilled pineapple, and the Hawaiian Pizza topped with Canadian bacon and grilled pineapple. For those seeking lighter options, there are salads, wraps, and seafood dishes like fish tacos. We started out with the Pork Springs rolls which looked more like Eggs Rolls and they were delicious!! We also tried one of their signature items- the Mochiko Chicken served with white rice and macaroni salad. The chicken was marinated nicely in a ginger soy and garlic sauce then lightly fried. Really enjoyed this dish. The chicken was tender and good quality- no fat. We also got the Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich- grilled with a slice of pineapple and Swiss cheese. Originally it comes with American cheese and I believe onions/tomato but we prefer this type of sandwich with Swiss and no extra toppings other than the pineapple. This was a very good sandwich- again good quality grilled chicken and just enough teriyaki sauce. Would have like to of tried one of the delicious looking deserts but we were stuffed. Would like to go back and experience the outdoor seating sometime!!

The lady at the bar who helped me with my carryout order was so nice and helpful. When she found out that my dogs are in the car waiting, she offered to bring me food out to the car when it's ready. I really appreciate it!! I ordered the short rib, it's good I thought it would be in chunks instead of long strips. one of my dogs had a couple of pieces of the short ribs then she wasn't interested. I didn't like the rice, a bit too mushy for me. The Mac salad was good. I want to try the Kailua Pig next time but I'm not sure. I got lucky finding a spot right in front of the entrance. With my dogs, I wouldn't want to leave them in the car too far from the entrance. We'll see. Maybe I will come back before I go home. Their t-shirts are funny!!

Went here as a group of 14 after a WVU graduate school ceremony. We arrived around 3:30 so not super busy. Seated fairly quickly but had to juggle who sat where as booth seating on the one side of our table left many sitting chest high at the table. Received all our orders and drinks quickly. Mixed frozen drinks at $12 each, racked up our bill rapidly. ORDER with caution and don't assume anything is included..steak fries were charged an extra $2.50 even on meals that came with fries(we were asked if we wanted curly or steak fries not knowing steak fries were extra..chips and dip comes with mango salsa OR queso..we ordered 2-one with each -but the server suggested we get both with each..we figured ok would just be smaller portions, but no we were just upcharged for getting both..fried rice extra when it comes with white rice..again no mention of up charge). 20% gratuity AND an alcohol tax AND non-cash payment added another $100 to our bill). We also had a coupon from the restaurant app to receive a free burger. Even though we made it well known to the server ahead of time and showed her the code verification she forgot to take it off plus charged the extra $2.50 for the fries. So the meal went from free (this person ordered a water) to $15.50. The food was all really good except for the prime rib sliders..little to no seasoning on the prime rib..Top picks..Loco moco, Kal-bi beef short ribs, burgers, Hawaiian pork and cabbage. Plates were $16-19 each. Burgers were $13/13.50. 1/2 lb boneless wings $11. Sodas and iced teas $4, beers were $7-9 for talls. We misplaced our receipt so we called to get a copy and explained our concern to Brendan. At first he wasn't understanding but at the end of the lengthy text conversation he offered to compensate us with a gift card for a return trip. He did in fact send the gift card...we will go back and give them another shot now we're informed how to order and ask if anything is extra?

Host staff very friendly. Quick to be seated. Waitstaff friendly and service was quick. Food was very good. Only complaint is we sat outside close to speaker playing music too loudly. Staff said they had no way to turn it down because all speakers throughout the facility were connected together. It was somewhat annoying as it interfered with conversations.

Great atmosphere, bit high in price even with specials, great variety in menu just wish they had more vegetarian and low calorie drink options. Crab legs were great, fresh, and service was excellent. Perfect place out with friends.

The atmosphere is great and I really enjoyed that they had live music and an outdoor seating area. The food we ordered was good. However, it needs sprucing up and newer tables/chairs or they just need some maintenance. There is also an area in the back that has guest seating but it's right next to some sort of trash area which had a smell but staff was accommodating when asked to be moved to a different area.

Upon arriving, it was very hot in there because they keep the doors open. It was so hot and muggy that I was sweating INSIDE. Could not enjoy my time because of the temperature. Food was not very good. Truffle fries are just fries with Parmesan on top, didn’t even come with dipping sauce. My side salad came with old lettuce that was browning. My meal was bland as well as the other guests. Overall not a good experience. Won’t be coming back.

Food was garbage. Draft beer tastes like alka seltzer. Music was way too loud. I've had better food and made better brew In prison. It was quieter too. And that says alot.

This was my first time going to Tropics in Morgantown, and it was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We went on Sunday, October 26 around 2:30 to 3, and the service was terrible. Our server barely checked on us, disappeared for long periods of time, never refilled our drinks, and we had to wait forever just to get our check. On top of that, employees were vaping in the bar while on the clock, which was extremely unprofessional and disgusting when people are trying to eat. The food wasn’t any better because my chicken Caesar salad didn’t even taste like chicken, it had a weird fishy flavor. My cheesecake tasted freezer burnt and the spoon they gave me was sitting in the raspberry sauce, so it was sticky before I even used it. The bathrooms were also dirty. Overall, for my first visit, I was extremely disappointed. The service, cleanliness, and food were all awful, and I definitely won’t be going back.

I try not to give bad reviews especially for restaraunts where margins are thin. However, being a business owner myself I would appreciate the truth and I'm hoping they feel the same way. My fiance, daughter, and I stopped here this afternoon for Dinner. We each ate maybe 1 to 2 bites maximum. We all left our plates nearly untouched. My fish tacos were anything but fresh and filled with oil or grease, almost no guacamole or semblance of fresh ingredients. My daughter's chicken tenders were barely cooked. Her highlight was the 4 curly fries she received. My wife's ribs were awful and rice couldn't be more bland. The macaroni salad which I'm assuming was not made in house tasted very vinegar. Didn't ask for discount based on fact we didn't eat, a little surprised the waitress didn't offer. I declined to push the issue so I didn't seem rude or like a free loader. Wouldn't recommend. Waitress and staff were outgoing and friendly. Atmosphere was upbeat.
