Hanabi Sushi is a popular spot known for fresh, high-quality sushi and a wide variety of rolls. Customers consistently praise the excellent service, clean environment, and reasonable prices. Some find the miso soup and sushi sauce too salty.

If you like sushi, this is one of my top picks in all of the bay area. Super fresh fish, beautiful very tasty rolls and good service. Highly recommended!
Hanabi Sushi- is literally THE BEST sushi place in the area! The most tasty sushi in town, place is immaculately clean and remodeled, staff is kind & friendly. I've been going here for the last four years, always happy!
I ordered takeout sushi. It was solidly executed and fairly priced, with not much else to remark on. Leave a bit of extra time on the weekends, since the kitchen might be busy.
Really great spot. Lots of options on the menu, very friendly to vegetarians, the fish is always fresh and tasty and the service is friendly and helpful. The place is pretty spacious which is nice when I come with kids.
I LOVE this place. Ordering online is so fast and simple. Their sushi is the best! They have the food cooked in a timely manner and they call you if they have any question
One of the few sushi houses that offer fresh tasting sashimi. You can taste the depth of flavor and the umami of the fish because it's either fresh or been properly preserved. None of that fishy taste due to older cuts that some shops peddle around these parts.
We've wasted lots of meals on other sushi places around this area and this was there all along. Modest place with great food, service and prices .
Absolutely delicious food! Can't thank everyone enough for serving my giant friend group at the last minute, too. Definitely want to come back to eat more of their Bentos.
Hanabi Sushi is my go to sushi place in Mountain View. The service is always excellent and the presentation of each dish is superb. My favorites are the hot night roll and the shisito peppers.
Recently I've been having lunch here twice a week. The food is of excellent quality for the price. Perfect match for someone who likes Japanese food, and wants to have it regularly without overpaying. The service is fast and very friendly too.
Hanabi is truly awesome the sake roll is a must try; it melts in the mouth and the drinks are divine.
Wonderful find! Lovely quiet patio room with a fountain. Attentive service. And simply fantastic sushi, served promptly. Well deserving of the excellent Google reviews.
Everything is always good and the people are great. The one bowls are my favorite. I love that they added some new items, especially the brussel sprouts. They were a classic roasted brussel sprout so not sushi like, but they were delicious!
This is our family's favorite sushi restaurant by far! I think we could eat here every day, if possible! The rolls are fresh, the poke is excellent, the bento boxes always have the best salad dressing and a very good salmon teriyaki, the staff is totally friendly and the prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity! We all love Hanabi Sushi!
You'll love this place. If not for the food, atleast the people and the environment. The price is very modest. Not expensive as other places but not cheap like fast food. Quality is good! Don't hesitate to come here. I go here pretty often and I thought I could never find one to like but I do now.
This one quickly became one of our favorite sushi restaurants. Extensive menu and specials list, including some excellent appetizers like brussel sprouts and spicy edamame. Also a great variety of vegan dishes and even some delicious vegan rolls. The settings and interior are just like most sushi restaurants in this area, i.e. simple and functional, in an uninspiring strip mall parking lot, with no outside seating. Still, a very good place to get sushi.
This place is my pre Costco treat. Very fresh sushi and I've enjoyed everything I've eaten at Hanabi Sushi. I'm a total omnivore, but my favorite roll is their veggie dragon roll. Love this place and definitely recommend it!
Waitress very attentive, nice and quick. Food was very fresh especially the sashimi and a plus that they have rolls of all sorts. Menu has pictures of sushi to help you decide on which one to order. Will definitely recommend and plan to come back.
This little place is such a gem in this place. The sushi is very fresh, all other items on the menu are fresh and tasty. They have good vegetarian variety. The service is always very kind, but sometime a bit slow. Don't forget to have some sake with your food, it makes everything taste better!
The sushi was so fresh and delicious. You can tell great care goes into the food preparation, and the wide variety of the menu is staggering. We left full and very happy with our choices.
Sashimi was so fresh, delicious! 10/10. Quick service, good atmosphere. Easy parking.
Absolutely great combo rolls, appetizers, ambiance, and staff! It’s my go to spot anytime I want creative and unique sushi rolls. Can’t recommend the place enough :)
Great place! Best cooked sushi (Lion King is my and my wife's favorite). Not crowded on weekends. Fast and friendly service. Conveniently located to 101 and Shoreline Park. Recommend for everybody!
Their plantbased sushi is quite good. They label it as vegetarian but it's also vegan as confirmed by their staff. I was able to get the seaweed paperwrap swapped for soy paperwrap as I am not a fan of fishy smell of seaweed wrap.
Really good sushi with interesting specialty rolls. I got a roll that had albacore and a thin slice of lemon on top. I was skeptical at first, but the little bit of sour added a lot to it! This spot has become a go-to for me!
The Tofu Donburi bowl was really good! Will definitely be back.
A hidden gem near Costco Mt View. Had the 911, great mix of flavors including the Sriracha. And I had the agedashi tofu... also good. I'll be back. 🙂
We came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night and were immediately impressed with the interior of the restaurant. We chose to sit inside but there is an option for covered outdoor patio seating as well. Food: We ordered a variety of appetizers, sushi rolls, and a sashimi deluxe combo to share. Everything was so fresh and you can tell the fish was top tier quality. Highly recommend the Albacore Sunrise, Crunch Salmon Mango, Boston, and Dragon rolls to name a few. Service: Everyone working in the restaurant provided exceptional service and were very friendly and inviting. They answered all of our questions and were helpful on recommendations. The fact that this restaurant is a local family owned business makes me want to support them even more. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu and enjoy the nice atmosphere!
Excellent food in both taste and amount. Good price, great & fast service.
My favorite sushi spot on Mountain View! Their food is excellent and I love their super friendly service. Today, we arrived at 8:15pm thinking that they close at 9pm. They were actually closing at 8:30pm and were getting ready to close the shop. Eventhough we arrived so late, they served us with a smile and excellent hospitality. I always liked their service but today it really showed who they really are. They are truly dedicated to serving their customers. Their Haedupbop, a large rice bowl of sashimi and vegetables with Korean sweet and spicy sauce, is a must try!
Friendly staff. High quality nigiri, tempura, and a great variety of specialty rolls. Prices are reasonable. The rolls are good sized so multiple hungry people sharing would be fine with two rolls per person. Try the Pompeii roll. Would be more stars for atmosphere if there was no TV in the main dining area, but that’s just me. All in all, a great place for an impromptu meal with friends and family.
It was so delicious but so expensive. One sushi set over than regular menu.
I take my grandkids and they are so excited to eat there.
The atmosphere is amazing, the staff absolutely darling and polite as well as very professional! The food was out of the world! Steak was tender and very flavorful thank you!
My boyfriend and I frequent this place, usually after our gym sessions when we’re in search of protein! The waiters are nice and always seat is in our favorite spot. Their fish is always fresh and the sashimi is a good sized portion worth the cost. The chefs will accommodate my requests (like swapping out the fish in a roll) which is nice of them and isn’t always an option.
Always quick and exceptionally delicious — the place is a true gem! We love Hanabi Sushi with all our hearts and been there numerous times, and each new visit gives us the warmest feelings. This place is special.
We had a party of eleven teenagers and the staff members were very helpful. We only had an hour at the restaurant and the staff members were very understanding on trying to provide us the meals we ordered before we had to leave. Even though the restaurant was in rush hour, they were very understanding on our limited time and tried to provide our meal in time before we had to leave. This restaurant’s meals were also very delicious, the quality at a five star level!
The food is amazing, customer service is outstanding, and atmosphere that tends to bring out a higher quality of humanity among strangers. We come here often and it's allure has not dulled for a moment. However we do not go on Friday night so our opinion is bound to the quieter times. Try, see, taste, enjoy, and add your essence to the moment.
Absolutely great food! The sushi is fresh and the restaurant is clean. Also great service! We had a crazy roll, tempura udon and a couple other things. Everything tasted great. I think this is going to be my new go-to spot for sushi.
Was looking for fresh delectable sushi while I was visiting Cali. This spot popped up on Google maps so I thought I'd give it a try. It 100% did not disappoint. The service was amazing & the sushi was delicious. I got a miso soup, 2 rolls & a specialty beverage all for $50 (including tip). I will definitely come back again when I'm in town.
Hanabi Sushi is one of our all-time favorites! The staff is always incredibly kind and welcoming — they truly make us feel at home every time we visit. We absolutely love the Tuna Taco, Vegas Roll, and Moon Night Roll — they’re packed with flavor and always fresh. And if you haven’t tried the Hawaiian Poke Bowl, you’re missing out — it’s seriously AMAZING. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great sushi and even better service!
Biked over from our hotel and grabbed a table without waiting on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables inside, good lighting, and nice staff. Large sushi roll menu. We started with the spicy edamame and it was great, to an addicting point. I got the monster roll and the spicy hamachi. Good quality fish, rice was solid, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Solid spot for sushi.
The best sushi bar, renowned for its exquisite selection of fresh, high-quality ingredients and skilled sushi chefs, offers a vibrant dining experience that captivates both sushi aficionados and newcomers alike. Each dish is meticulously crafted, showcasing the art of sushi-making in an inviting, modern atmosphere, where guests can savor a symphony of flavors and textures in every bite.
Stumbled upon Hanabi out of luck. Have been to a lot of Sushi restaurants and Hanabi is extremely impressive, up there with the best of them, especially bang for your buck value for such high quality food and service and experience. Have returned multiple times and have made it a point to order something different each visit, and each time I am left very happy, full, and appreciating terrific food. Entire restaurant is spotlessly clean and clearly well maintained and taken care of. The staff is friendly and prompt with service with frequent table visits. Food is fresh and super high quality, exactly as advertised in the menu and photos. Very highly recommend Hanabi, I will continue to go back.
Do you enjoy eating sushi at a good price? Hanabi Sushi in Mountain View, located conveniently by the Costco Warehouse store, offers a delightful dining experience that balances quality, affordability, and convenience. Ambiance: Hanabi Sushi is a straightforward sushi spot with ample space and seating during lunch hours. The decor is minimalistic but inviting, creating a relaxed atmosphere perfect for both casual dining and business lunches. Visit Details: I visited on May 29 around 12 PM. The place was quiet and not very busy, which was surprising given the quality of the food and the reasonable prices by Mountain View, CA standards. I appreciated the peaceful setting, allowing me to enjoy my meal without the usual lunchtime rush. Service: Our waitress was friendly yet unobtrusive, perfect for those on the introverted side. She checked on us regularly to ensure we had everything we needed without engaging in excessive chit-chat. This level of attentive service is a must for good customer service. Parking: The parking situation is excellent as Hanabi Sushi shares a spacious parking lot with Costco, making it convenient to find a spot without stress. Menu and Food: The menu at Hanabi Sushi is extensive, offering a wide variety of options to cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. I ordered the Dinner Combo Bento plate for $23.00, which includes one protein, one side, rice, ginger, wasabi, salad, and miso soup. The miso soup can be upgraded to clam or mushroom for an additional $3.00. For my protein, I chose spicy chicken. It was juicy and well-seasoned, though I wished for a spicier kick. The California Rolls (8 pieces) were fresh and delicious. I also ordered a passion fruit green tea, which was refreshing and garnished with two slices of lemon. Overall Experience: The portions were well-balanced, and the food was excellent. The salad was crisp and fresh, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the miso soup, although not as hot as I prefer, was flavorful. The quiet atmosphere and excellent service made my visit enjoyable. I highly recommend Hanabi Sushi for its quality food, reasonable prices, and excellent service. Whether you are a long-time sushi enthusiast or new to Japanese cuisine, Hanabi Sushi is a must-visit. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu items. Hanabi Sushi has certainly earned a spot on my list of favorite dining spots in Mountain View. The Beef Rib Udon at Hanabi Sushi is a must-try! The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the beef ribs are incredibly tender. The portions are generous and the service is always friendly. This has become my go-to spot for a satisfying and delicious meal!
One of my top favorite sushi places! They have so many rolls to choose from, appetizers are great too! I come here at least once a week, customer service is outstanding, rolls are all so good and you never get tired of trying something new
Hanabi is my go-to place for takeout sushi. Just look how thick the slices of fish are!!! The flavors and quality are always top notch at an affordable price. I order online and it’s almost always fast. The only time I had to wait longer than expected was on a Friday night.
Great bento box, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Its one of our regular places to go. According to our nutrition expert, Japanese food is healthier than Chinese because there are no hidden sugars. Bon appetit! Visited today. Upgraded presentation is very impressive.
Good food! The sushi sauce and miso soup are too salty. But overall have good taste. I like the lobster roll and scallop roll. Seafood is fresh and good quality. The mochi ice cream is very good! Mochi is soft and ice cream is yummy! Highly recommend!!
The place is clean, every table has hand sanitizer which is the new normal now. We saw the waitress sanitizing the bottle of soy sauce after customers left. Customer service and food are great.
I really liked this place! I came here with a friend before a concert at the shoreline and we really enjoyed it. We got a Dragon roll and a baked scallop roll (which was amazing). The service was good and the food came out pretty quickly. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try.
We love this place. This is one of the best sushi restaurants in our city. Food is fresh and professionally cooked. Service is outstanding.

They have a nice back-room for medium-sized events. I went to a small wedding there a few years ago and the food was good in-bulk. We just tried it again and It was good individually served, too.
This place is a gem, hidden in an industrial area. My chicken teriyaki bento was the best I've had in ages. Grilled perfectly: a bit of crunch outside and still moist and tender inside. Great service.
My review is focused on price relative to quality. I had the lunch combo bento box featuring chicken teriyaki + 8pcs spicy tuna for $12.95 + tax. The bento box included a miso soup, rice, and salad. What I liked about the meal was, for under $15, it is simple and delicious. The highlights were definitely the spicy tuna and the miso, while the the chicken teriyaki was simply good. There is nothing I did not enjoy and the portions were generous. For a sushi spot that satisfies cravings, this would be a spot I would recommend. If you're looking for something that is unique/special, this would not be the place I would recommend.
Awesome saba, awesome tamago. Innovative rolls and appetizers. Worthy chirashi bowl. Atmosphere a little lacking, it's neither a sports bar nor a club for 20-somethings, so why football on their TV's and teenage pop music?
Weekday lunch, place was busy without being crowded; service was fast enough and friendly, sashimi seemed fresh and tender, saba was cooked correctly, salad portion in bento box was generous, employees were speaking Japanese. Overall positive experience. Cons: the place seemed only slightly run-down, and a breeze from the party-room briefly carried stale cig smell
Large servings from a very extensive menu. I wish the menu was cut down a little. Ordered take away and the food was reasonably tasty but it's always a bit hard to tell when you eat out 15+ minutes later
Reliably good, fresh sushi and sashimi. Prices are average for good quality sushi. Friendly service. They recognize you after a couple of visits. They won't blow your mind with wild assorted dishes, but reliably excellent.
I've been going here forever, since it was Arikato. I really love the sushi, quality is great and they have a lovely selection. The rest of the menu is good, too, but I always go for the sushi anymore! The staff is really sweet and the decor is cute. Only thing I don't like are the televisions. It's distracting to have sports on two tvs while I'm trying to have a conversation. I'll keep coming back though!
I love coming to this place the staff is super friendly and the food is delicious! I always come here with my family when we are craving sushi! Would totally recommend coming here!!
I love this place! This is my go to for a good selection of sushi! and fresh sashimi. Their bentos are always so generously proportioned. I'm just bummed that they took away the ramen selection from their menu. It wasn't a big selection but it was good enough for a quick fix of ramen craving. The service can get a little spotty, sometimes it's friendly and attentive and other days there will be no friendly smiles and infrequent check ins at tables. You literally have to hound the next server you come across for tea or for service. But, I give them a 4 star because the food and the often good service outweighs the bad days of service..
My son took us here for dinner the other night. Calamari appetizer was good though I wish there were different sauces to dip the breaded strips in. My 49er roll was good as well as the CA roll. Wife enjoyed her rainbow roll too. Son went for the sashimi dinner. Good choice. Looked fresh.
Great Japanese restaurant. Quite far from my place but we always love venturing out to see what's out there. The signature sushi rolls are one of the best I have tasted. Good service.
The flavor and the portion is pretty good. The sauce is a little bit too much for us on the Lion King roll. We actually prefer the 76 (salmon sashimi / lemon) better.
This is a nice sushi restaurant, convenient to the freeway, nearby to work, and easy to get a seat. The fish was fresh, the beer was cold, and the presentation was nice though not extravagant. I always get a rainbow roll at new places, and this one did not disappoint. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in town!
This place has decent sushi for a decent price. Be sure to check out their lunch specials - you can often find plates with multiple dollar discounts. What surprised me most about this place was the atmosphere. When we ate lunch, the restaurant was unusually quiet. It seemed as if no other guests were talking. It was very nice.
Their lunch special was quite good for the price and they were really fast serving the food and quite friendly. For the price it’s a pretty good deal and a decent portion definitely may return in the future. Sashimi looked really would come back just to try. Also pretty good sized poki bowl, my co workers enjoyed!
10/24/2024 Hanabi Sushi 1040 N Rengstorff Ave Ste A1 Mountain View, CA 94043 We went there for lunch after shopping at Costco in the same plaza. The dining area is split between a cozy interior table and chair setup and a larger patio area. We were seated promptly with fast and attentive service. We both chose the lunch combo bentos. Wifey had the beef teriyaki and avocado roll and I had the Saba Shioyaki and Combo Tempura. The miso soup had good flavor and a few small cubes of tofu with kombu. My dainty mackerel filet was moist, tasty and boneless. My one shrimp tempura was hot and juicy with a crispy panko breading. The veggies were yam, carrot, zucchini and cauliflower. The dipping sauce was a little sweet. The beef was medium rare and lean of high quality with good teriyaki flavor. A good place for lunch and conveniently located. May repeat.
Decent food with okay portions. Would recommend for Japanese food fans.

Parking lot packed. People asking for money and trailers up and down the street. Risky pulling out of driveway with view obstructions of oversized vehicles and people jumping out in the street between them. Looks like this area is abandoned vehicles non operating vehicles park for weeks on end due to no police or parking enforcement consistently.
Prices are a little high, but quality is good. They have some issue with someone smoking in the back and it getting pulled into their HVAC system, so you can smell cigarette smoke in the restaurant frequently. Have mentioned this issue so then several times in the past, but it still happens.
They have really good appetizers but the sushi wasn't enjoyable. I ordered the lion King and the $20 monster ss roll and could not finish them. I couldn't bite through the fish on monster ss roll and it tasted too fishy
Delicious! We ate to go due to Covid-19. However, I found a coil wire and a small hair in my miso soup, which freaked out my dad and this is why I am giving this a 3 star. I did not freak me out too much, but that's a little unsettling to find in your food.
I feel like a lot of people came here for the portion sizes. The rolls are average at best, but I do have to agree that the size is 1.5x the usual size of rolls. Definitely a cheap eat, but good eat? Not so much.
One of the most depressing Japanese restaurant I have been to in a Friday night. Seems like this is more like a lunch place as there's only 2 tables at 8:45 pm. The food is decent. The salmon sashimi I had was very good but the tuna was too cold. The BBQ ribs and tempura are ok but it was not worth the 20 min drive... we also tried the 76 roll and it was only ok. The lemon over power the rest of the roll so it was a bit disappointing.
I had the lunch Bento Box 1 small piece of salmon $1 extra 8 small pieces of spicy tuna roll $1 extra. $22.65, which included 15% tip. Green tea is extra . The small basic meal was expensive, in my opinion, compared to the Bento Box at Araki Sushi in downtown Palo Alto. I won't be back.
Great sushi and lunch options. The size of the rolls are insane so order with care. We had the 49er roll and crunchy spicy tuna toll. Both were great. Plenty of bento box options as well. Location near Costco isn't the greatest though since you have to deal with the strip mall traffic.
I had a great meal at Hanabi Sushi! I ordered the spicy chicken bento and asked for real crab instead of imitation crab in my California roll—definitely worth the upcharge. Real crab is always the way to go. The spicy chicken was delicious, tender, and not overwhelmingly spicy, which I appreciated. The sauce they use has a nice depth of flavor, almost like gochujang. That being said, there were a couple of odd things. The sushi chefs kept looking over while I was waiting for my order and even while I was eating, which felt a bit uncomfortable. Also, when I asked about the WiFi, the servers said it wasn’t for customers, which is unusual since most places have no problem offering it. It would be nice if they provided an explanation for these things. Overall, the food was great, and I’d definitely come back—but a little more customer-friendly atmosphere would make it even better!
Reason for visiting: dinner after work Date/time of visit: Wednesday night Parking: in the lot, free Party size: 2 Environment/ambience: not too crowded. A couple of TVs with no sound on. Overall, the food and the ambience is good. The service is really nice and polite. The appetizers were really nice, however, the sushi rolls could be better. The vegetarian options are limited, but they are decently good for the area. P.S. I am a vegetarian.

The fish was OK. I ordered a roll that had crab and salmon. I asked if I could upgrade and get real crab which they said yes and charged me three dollars for. There was no salmon in the roll however which I showed her the roll I had taken it apart several pieces and there was no trace of salmon detectable. She kept trying to tell me that he had sliced thin and it was there but I didn't see it. She insisted several times that the salmon was there even though I know for a fact it wasn't after I left I was angry at myself for even leaving her a tip. With all the options available for sushi this place would be low on the priority list I will not return here.
A new sushi place in the Costco/Ross mall, couldn't resist popping in. However, it's sushi was not the freshest PRO: - In a great mall (Costco, Ross) - Beautiful dining area - Big menu CON: - Sushi wasn't fresh. I grabbed it middle week. I didn't want to believe it but salmon had no taste. I kept some for leftover the next day and it was worse. Good sushi still tastes good the next day - Came here for the Shishito peppers. I was surprised they were deep fried. They weren't good. - Parking can be difficult since it's in the Costco/Ross mall SUMMARY: Since it's close to one of my favorite malls I thought I'd come here after shopping nearby. The menu looks good and it's big so I ordered a lot. I was disappointed. Sushi lacked flavor, it had no taste and some if it did not taste fresh (not good for sushi). Had some appetizers but the Temepura Shishito peppers were blah. If I had one good sushi roll, I would have given it another chance but that didn't work out.
I had lunch here but received unexpected bad service here. Staff who took my order left before I finish ordering. Throughout my dinning here no one come back to check if everything is OK or add water. And while I was still dinning and not yet close to finishing, she already brought the check to table. Pokerface throughout the service. Don't come.
Very americanized sushi. If you seek traditional style sushi, do NOT go here, you will be disappointed. The fish quality was mediocre, tons of mayo on all the rolls, poor rice quality. There are probably worse options in the area, but I couldn't tell you what they are.
This service was absurdly bad, and that is an understatement. For starters, the server completely forgot about us and we had to wait over 15 minutes for menus. Next, my friend had a wasp in his meat, that was dead for a very long time. At this point our server was switched and he was very kind and we did receive a discount. Once we got the new server more mistakes were made. I asked for shrimp and no shellfish in my meal 5 times and received only shellfish and no shrimp. In addition to that my other friend ordered a simple 6 piece sushi and did not receive it for 45 minutes until we asked again. I have never seen such a dysfunctional kitchen in my entire life. In addition, I have never waited longer at a restaurant to receive the correct service and be halfway content. If you ever go here don’t sit outside because they WILL forget about you. The only good thing that came out of this was the discount on our food which was a blessing. The only thing they got going for them is that the food they actually manage to do right doesn’t taste bad.
They keep increasing the price while the quality of the food and the portion are decreasing. I ordered my favorite dish Chirashi don, so ordered it again. But some of sashimi was replaced with cucumber, dry octopus, and inedible garnish. It was not worth $35. This restaurant was one of my go-to sushi restaurant in Bay area, but I am so sad that it's not anymore. I was so disappointed today and decided giving up this place for the rest of my life.
