Just had THE Best Sushi-During-Covid-19 Experience at Mizu for lunch today. Where to start?! First of all, Outdoor Dining > Take-out, especially when it comes to being hot and fresh. All our food was perfectly fresh from the hot green tea and miso to sushi and bento boxes. We will definitely be coming back again now that we know this Mizu is both open and still excellent during this Covid-19 pandemic, and because my wife found a way not to break the bank on sushi... My wife had this brilliant plan to keep costs down, since sushi can be a little pricey (as sushi in Mountain View is wont to be), by ordering bento boxes. Oh the cleverness of my wife! I got the most delicious spicy pork bulgogi, like better than at Korean BBQ, with three pieces of delicate, umami agedashi tofu, plus tuna sashimi (three hearty cuts too not just thin slices) that came with plenty of perfectly sticky rice and a light miso dressing salad. Her box had a good portion of crisp vegetable tempura, which she enjoyed even more than the chicken teriyaki (which she didn't love but didn't hate either) she got with it. Then! We also ordered the Cherry 🍒 Blossom Roll, which satisfied our desire for salmon, tuna, and tobiko in roll form. Our plan is that each time we just rotate our which roll we get until we've had them all. With this, we cut our typical bill in half and feel much more full and satisfied, plus got to eat some really good foods we otherwise wouldn't have gotten. We were also comforted by the fact that we saw them disinfecting everything from table to chairs, all employees were wearing masks properly, and the tables were appropriately distanced. We had the prompt, friendly, and attentive service of several waiters, probably because we were the only ones at the restaurant at 12:30 pm on a Wednesday. Mizu had been one of our top favorite sushi restaurants for a long time, started going because I lived near the one on Winchester and would go to a) watch Sharks games and b) sometimes saw Sharks players there too... until we found Yuki Sushi in Santa Clara, which is delicious and incredible itself, however, it's farther from home and they don't currently do outdoor dining, so... Mizu is back on top, for the time being, after this visit.
First time at Mizu. The food was great, very good presentation and very attentive fast service. My favorite thing to order at a sushi restaurant is chirashi and Mizu did not disappoint - very fresh fish, good selection, large pieces and creative presentation. My companions ordered a bunch of appetizers, liked them and even ordered one of them second time. We definitely will go back!
Really great space, tasty sushi and big portions. Amazing service too!
Great portions for the price 💸, and delicious sashimi 🍣 options.
We went to 88 at first because our group 15 person want to have ramen .the front desk so arrogant told us “as you can see, we don’t have seats”. Ok, no worries. We called this place, they tried their best to coordinate with the manger and told us we can go for the party. Once we in, we feel welcome! Food are so good, we don’t even care that damn ramen store. We enjoy all the drinks, I order a lot and we shared what we order. Turned on every family paid $130 ish to share total 15 dishes. Nice place and hight recommend!
Food was fantastic. They had a large menu that offered a wide selection of food if you don’t like raw fish. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. We had a great dinner. Rolls of 8 pieces were around $10-$15 each.
Mizu Sushi is a delightful sushi place with a variety of yummy options. We ordered Agedashi Tofu, Jalapeño Spicy Tuna Popper and sweet potato fries with wasabi-mayo dip for appetizer and it was all amazing. The sweet potato paired with the creamy-spicy wasabi mayo was very unique as was the tofu and the tuna poppers. For main dish we ordered Alaska, Rainbow and Dragon sushi…. all the portions were laage and tasty and the sushi’s were prettily decorated with orchid flowers. We got mango mochi, chocolate cake and red beans 🫘 ice cream for dessert and again, everything turned out to be beautiful …. delicious, generous portions and prettily presented. The service was fast, staff are polite and the ambience is relaxing and comfortable.
It was a great experience . Sushi was delicious. There is an options with rice-less sushi with cucumber which is good as they are low carbs. I thought restaurant was on the pricey side but sushi pieces are very big. Same as Salad size was decent. So with 3 sets of sushi rolls and one sashimi salad with lots of greens we were full. Atmosphere inside is pretty nice too
Y'all definitely gotta experience this sushi spot nestled in San Antonio center (next to Jared). Outstanding customer service! I'm really big on hospitality and receiving excellent customer service when I'm spending my coins. The waitstaff was kind, courteous, gracious, and informative. We all know sushi, but being able to receive appropriate answers when inquiring about the menu goes a long way! -Appetizers delicious! I could have eaten 200 of those green muscles -Hurricane Roll, OMG!!! So creative and tasty -Butterfly Roll, yes yes and yes!! -Sake was a decent quality as well **CLEAN unisex restrooms! -Chill atmosphere that can be family dinner, a bite after work, a drink at the bar and an appetizer, or date night. Can't wait for another opportunity to experience Mizu.
My wife and I went there for our anniversary and everything went absolutely amazing. The food and service was astonishing. You must try the crispy rice and tuna appetizer. Crazy rolls were awesome too. Will definitely bw back soon
Good sushi joint. The rolls were of considerable size. I had the Mizu Jumbo and Green Dragon roll. They were delicious. For dessert, I had their Res Bean ice cream. I've never had it before but it wasn't so overwhelmingly sweet. It was right in the middle when it came to sweetness. It’s a large portion good for two, the ice cream. The place is considerable in size with covered outside seating. It's on a corner of a major street so it can be loud outside. The parking space is shared with outer establishments so it's tight. But I highly recommend this place.
Great sushi place. They serve a wide variety of sushi. The wait staff was very friendly. Rainbow blossom is a must try. We also tried the crazy dragon. Both the sushi rolls were under the spicy section. We also liked the California roll and spicy tuna. They also serve the complimentary miso soup.
It’s a popular place, the staff was nice and helpful. They have a huge menu with many tasty options, we ordered the mango roll and the sun kissed roll, both really tasty (I loved the mango one), the octopus in the takoyaki was a little hard but the taste was great, we will come back!
This is one of the best sushi restaurants on the peninsula. The service is great, food is amazing, presentation is awesome. There is a full bar. Don’t let the strip mall facade fool you, this restaurant is the best I have been to in the bay, and Sushi is my favorite food.

Overall would rate 3.5 because it's good taste, but it's not authentic and it is quite pricey. Came back for Happy hour in September after 6 months from my first visit. The happy hour is from 5 to 6 or so; pretty empty at 5, got seated and served very fast. Food was delicious, still not cheap, but at least not expensive. $6 for California roll, $5 takoyaki (6 units) and $9 for thinly sliced salmon carpaccio (great taste though!) We werent given the HH menu until we asked, which was a bit weird. Food was good but it is really pricey for what you get. The restaurant was pretty full, service is not as good as usual japanese restaurants. This is more like a modern restaurant that serves japanese food, doesnt have that japanese feel to it that I enjoy most.
Food here was excellent. Definitely recommend you stick with the fundamentals and order from the sushi bar. Salmon sashimi was incredible, fish was unusually fresh and cut so well. I honestly couldn't fault this - pinching myself, but I think it's the best I've ever had(!). Citrus cooked salmon wasn't really ceviche, but was tasty. Kappa maki was superb (liked the toasted sesame), wagyu sticks were delicious but the meat wasn't quite as fatty / tender as I'd hoped. Service was very friendly and quick. Another reviewer mentioned that he thought there was no need for the enormous TVs - I totally agree, better off without them.
Came here with two girlfriends on a Tuesday night! Not tooo busy! But I still recommend making a reservation! Yellowtail Special Roll// It was yellowtail fish inside the sushi, with yellowtail on top, and then topped with a thinly sliced lemon! Yellowtail everyone! The lemon is so thinly sliced that you can eat it whole. You don't need to remove the white pith. What a refreshing bite! Yummmmy! Hamachi Kama// Grilled yellowtail collar! Came out hot! The ponzu sauce had pureed daikon with green onion! Delicious! That sauce added acid which perfectly complemented the fish! Chirashi: 12 piece assortment of chef's choice fish on a bed of rice. It had egg/tamago, seaweed salad with a little bit of roe on top, ginger, rice with seven different fish on top: Albacore (2 pieces), Yellowtail (2 pieces), Salmon (2 pieces), Tuna (2 pieces), Surf clam (2 pieces), Halibut (2 pieces), Sweet Shrimp (1). Consider checking in on Yelp to get a free hot sake! ~$26-$30 per person (with tip), but we were all pretty full! I wish it was cheaper, but not bad! The service was nice! They kept refilling out waters without us asking, which is much appreciated! This place is also nice if you want to watch a sports game! There are TVs everywhere!
We like the Octopus sashimi. Fish is average and bit overpriced. Good service.
Staff was very attentive and courteous. Service was great and the hostess was friendly. The agadashi tofu (not pictured) was delicious. My buddy and I each ordered 2 rolls. All four rolls were delectable and filling. The restaurant, although not wallet busting, wasn't exactly "cheap" either. Our bill was just north of $130, and we didn't order any drinks. But, we kinda knew that going in. The only other remark was that the wasabi was different from the ones I'm usually accustomed to. It was a lot less potent and much less dense.
Came here for Sunday lunch and it was super peaceful since the place was empty. Tried the Sunkissed and Sakura rolls. Both were fresh and tasty, loved that the Sakura was rolled in cucumber instead of rice. Lots of creative roll options, a bit pricey but you can see why with the ingredients. Staff was friendly and parking was easy. Good spot overall, but with so many better sushi places around, I probably wouldn’t go back.
I have dined in here a few times. They seem to pay attention to quality and service. Definitely would consider visiting again to try new dishes.
Beautiful exterior with outdoor waiting area, smaller interior with large screen tv giving a sports bar feel. Sushi is very fresh, service is super quick and alert. The cherry blossom satisfies all areas of the taste buds. Crunchy, moist fried balls so fish, tangy rice, moist sushi fish. A bit pricey, so be ready to splurge!
Pretty good sushi I had the cherry blossom roll. Price was a little expensive to what I am used to in the east coast but the fish was very fresh. There was an odd taste to the daikon to me. The wait staff was very nice. They have outdoor seating too. The fried ice cream is huge and it was very creamy and good with a crunchy outside but the green tea ice cream didn’t have a strong flavor
I went to Mizu with my partner Lily, who also shared some thoughts: I ordered the Yami Yami roll and Lily ordered the Salmon Teriyaki, California Roll, and Tamago 2 piece. Lily: my favorite was the Salmon. The teriyaki didn't overwhelm the fish. The California roll's crab was a bit too plain. I also tried a piece of the Yami and it wasn't spicy enough imo. Overall 8.5/10 it's a little expensive for the taste but it's still a step up Me: The Yami Yami had this crunch tempora on the outside but it served like a little plate to the fish on top which the spicy mayo complimented well. It was a nice pop flavor. We got seats close to the front and it was still a little cozy. The service was considerate but not intrusive. I agree with the price being too expensive which brings it to a 4 for me but it was a nice experience.
Delicate and delicious Japanese food. It was a little pricey. Also the staff recommend us to add chips to the tapas, without telling us it cost extra $5, give the appetizers was $22. I feel not good about this :( the rolls were delicious and with large portions. Hope the menu could include more categories of Japanese cuisine.
Newly opened branch, Korean styled sushi restaurant, nicely decorated with a huge screen TV on top, nice ambience. I have always like the Korean styled sashimi salad with rice and spicy sauce, that's what I ordered. It was actually quite good, fresh vegetables, sashimi cubes were fresh tasting, the sauce could be a bit sweeter for my liking and the $20 price was reasonable considering the location. My friend thought her lunch box was good too (her 3rd time here already).
Dragon roll tastes good, tempura inside is very crispy. Salmon sashimi is fresh. Calamari is just so so, not very recommend. Overall, service is quick and tastes good.
The food was visually great and tasty. But the toro sushi marked as market price was too expensive ($19/2 pcs) because we had thought we were getting normal tuna sushi... It would be better if they’d offer us the price during ordering.

Found a hair in my takeout order. Tried to call and talk to an employee, wouldn’t answer the phone and the voicemail box was full…
Been going there for take out for last few years. Ordering $100 to $150 each time, especially in the last year to two. Last two weekends, the Miso Black Cod (ordered 2 orders each time) was bad (not firm fish but blubber texture and bad taste). Two weekends ago, 1 of the 3 pieces from 1 of the 2 orders was bad. This was the first time experiencing bad fish from there. Thus, let it go. And this past weekend, 1 each from both orders and 1 additional piece (was not as blubbery as the others 2 but tasted off). This time I decided to save the bad pieces and called them. The front desk person said not to bring in the fish but will have manager credit for 1 order. I said since 1 piece from two weekends ago was bad too and 3 pieces from current orders was bad, giving me refund for just 1 order did not seem the right thing to do. Today, the person called back to say they will only refund for 1 order rather than absolute minimum of 1.33 order price which I think is fair. They refused, per their manager. Do check the status of the fish before leaving the place if you are doing take out. I will not return here or their San Jose location. When the person initially told me they check their fish daily, I really was tempted to drive down there with the fish I saved to show them.
